Things are going well for Rowen. The weather is nice; her family is happy; there haven’t been any murders for a while. All in all, things are good… which can only mean that they’re about to go horribly wrong. If it’s not family issues, it’s something worse. This time it’s both, and that something worse is a death that hits close to home.
Novella (approx. 50,000 words). Tenth Volume of the Lainswich Witches Mystery Series. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger).
This is actually a review for the installment entitled: Old Flames (Lainswich Witches, #9)
However, I read the books out of order through Kindle Unlimited and posted the review for #10 under the #9 book. That is the reason that these two reviews are reversed. I do apologize for any inconvenience.
This is a cozy, paranormal mystery series. The heroine, Rowen Greensmith, belongs to a family of witches. The townsfolk of Lainswich hold this against them. Their arch nemesis family (also witches) are the Stonewalls, who used to live in the same town. Rowen Greensmith and Flint Stonewall had dated in high school and were engaged before they broke it off and both left for a large city to spread their wings. Eventually, the Stonewalls moved to another town nearby. Both Rowen and Flint are residing near their families again. Meantime, Rowen married Eric.
There is a murder that affects the entire family personally. It affects Aunt lydia more thn any of the the other Greensmiths. As usual, Rowen is on the case, looking for a resolution. Rowen and Flint intermingle in the investigation, just when she and Eric are in the middle of a tiff. Together they use their witchy powers to sniff out the culprit.
There are a few grammatical errors. It still lacks a certain appeal factor. It is often difficult to follow Rowen's thought process since many clues are left out of the presentation. But all in all, it is an interesting piece of entertainment combining humor, paranormal activity, and mystery.
This book is able to stand on its own, it is a clean read, and they solve the mystery of who murdered the woman and set the scene so bizarrely. There are sure to be more mysteries in the future.
A death far too close to home for the Greensmith witches this time, but at first it doesn't seem like anything suspicious. Fortunately, Rowen's gut feelings never let her down. I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

This is a great book; this is the tenth book in the Lainswich Witches series written by Raven Snow. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Lainswich Witches 10 A war Between Witches by Raven Snow The Lainswich family is hard hit with the tragedy of their Matriarch’s death. Rowen feels this isn’t a natural death and that her grandmother had been murdered by magic. The thing with a magic murder is proving it and if you do prove it how can you convict someone of doing it. Add to this sad and mixed emotional time that Rowen’s mother has come home with her new male friend and her cousin Margo decides to hook up with a member of the other witch family in the area and you have a full-blown family drama extravaganza. Lots of family drama, mystery, and magic afoot in this story and it one of the best stories in this series yet.
I really enjoyed this book. In this book new characters were introduced. I like that there are new characters but some of the characters from previous books really played NO part in this book. Hopefully if the new characters are going to be featured in up-coming books, the old characters will still be part of the story line. Was sorry to see one of the characters pass. Love the series. Looking forward to the next one. I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Another fantastic book. Rowen has to convince her family that Grammy was murdered and prove who and how it was done. As with all the books, this was well written with great character's and storey line with plenty of twists and turns. It was great to see more of the Stonewalls and especially flint who we met in the last book. This episode is sad. Losing one of the family isn't easy on any of the family. Rowen however has her own thoughts on what happened and so the investigation begins.
In enjoying the books but they shouldn't have said anything about witches because it hardly has anything witch in it, it mentions them being witches but it's rare they even use it, but as a who done it it's not too bad
I fell in love with these characters and the story just flows making a book you can't put down and enjoy so much your looking for the next one. Great Reading Everyone!
