It’s the dead of winter, and FBI Agents Jade Monroe and J.T. Harper are asked to assist the Gary, Indiana, police force in a possible serial killer case that has everyone stumped. A body, frozen stiff and drained of blood, is found by children playing near an old quarry. Several weeks later, a second body is discovered in an abandoned house, and the manner of death is identical. The agents race to Gary when word of a third victim comes in. With no clues and multiple frozen bodies, the agents have no idea when these women died or what the FBI is facing, yet the body count rises and the manner of death remains the same. Jade wonders whether they’re heading into the dark, unknown world of the occult, a place she knows nothing about—and has no desire to. The most well-known occult leader in the area is in their sights and currently their only lead. Are the agents and local law enforcement heading down the wrong path? The final blindside shakes Jade to her core and leaves the entire police force stunned.

C.M. Sutter was born in San Jose, California and split time between the sunny California coast and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a senior in high school, she chose Wisconsin as her permanent address. After many years in the Badger State, she decided on a warmer year-round climate to call home and moved south. Years of progression took her from working in large companies, to twelve years as a massage therapist, and finally, owning a corporation. She has been self-employed for over twenty years. Ms. Sutter has been writing and self-publishing since 2014 with eleven titles published in a different genre. Because of her deep interest in crime and thriller novels, she took up writing in the police procedural/crime thriller genre in 2016.
4 Stars. Another solid entry in Sutter’s Jade Monroe series. This case was unique and interesting. Definitely worth a look if you enjoy a good crime mystery.
Another enjoyable read. Less gruesome than the first two books in the FBI series.
I did find myself willing them to suss who the perp was a bit earlier and have some pursuit. I didn't expect that ending. I guessed once 97% came up and they hadn't got him that it was going to wrap up quick.
Now to download the next one from Amazon Kindle.
Might have a rest from crime and death and finally read the Book of Dust I have had for six months in hardback.
I happened upon Book 1 while scrolling through Kindle, and because I like FBI serial killer stories, I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed!! I zipped through Books 1, 2, and 3 in a week!!! The author pulls you through the story line with descriptive text, and I felt the excitement, the subtle exchanges between Jade and J.T. and the determination to be successful in their search for the perp. I can't wait to begin Book 4!
Having read the first two Jade Monroe books, I was hesitant to try for a third time to like this character. While the author kept several of her personality traits that were irritating, he did tone her down somewhat. The ending of this thriller didn't see Jade coming to the rescue and single handedly saving everyone she could. Instead, it was a very plausible ending and made the book much more satisfying.
I enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. You know why the killer is killing, you know why he shouldn't be, you start to sympathize, then things take a BIG turn. The ending caught me completely off guard. Wasn't prepared for it but it was the perfect ending for this book.
This.is.awful. I just can’t in good conscience continue the premise of the story is good, the writing however is dreadful This happens then this and then this and then this... Soooo boring. No suspense, no drama. Have made a mental not to not get a CM Sutter book again and don’t understand how people have given this a 4 or 4 star review
Good mystery as Jade and partner solve an unusual case of abductions and murders. Almost all of this is a little underdeveloped to me. The characters seem to be interpersonal lacking and the twists are surface only. We see, or know, little of the heroine as a person. Not enough rocks between any of the main characters.
This is another thrilling novel in the Jade Monroe series. The murderer in this story is kind of morbid but was committing the murders for what he felt was a good cause. This series keeps building momentum and is a good read.
I love the Jade series. Sutter gives details that make me feel along for the ride with FBI/Police as they solve the crimes. The story flows well and the ending left me with surprisingly conflicted feelings about killer. C.M.Sutter is definitely one to follow!
Story keeps you actively involved with a unique but sad plot where a dying cancer patient does not get the medical assistance that's needed and a family member attempts to keep the patient alive with transfusions
These detectives are getting better and better. Love this team. Great story. Shows you how far a man can go for the love of his mother. Choosing victims was a lesson in the stupidity of some women.
The entire series on FBI Agent Jade Monroe is riveting. I could not put it down. I am very visual so I can actually see what is going on in each book. I know if you like mystery reading you are in for enjoyment at its finest.
