She thought silence was her best option...until the past threatened to ruin her future.
Shannon Taylor has it all: great friends, her dream career, a loving fiancé, and a best friend that's like the sister she never had. Life couldn’t get any better—or so she thought.
Just when you think you have it all, add in a little betrayal and a few lies and you have the perfect mixture for a storm, strong enough to send you spiraling into a life full of unknowns—or could that have been the point? When traveling down the wrong path sometimes we need to be blown into a different direction.
Now unsure of everything she had planned for herself, Shannon is on a mission to forget, but what she isn’t expecting to run into is the arrogant, womanizing, control freak that clearly thinks he’s a gift to all women. That may be for most women, but not this one.
Meet Nicholas Lockhart.
He’s sexy, domineering, and has a temper that is easily triggered, but those things are a must when in the business environment that he is. To be successful means to be the best, the alpha, controlling all others. Meeting a woman who can turn his world upside down is not in the cards, not part of the plan. Why have one woman when there are so many appetizing ones to taste? A renowned eligible bachelor is the person he likes to be, that is until the defiant, redhead turns his head and puts him in his place.
Their quick and intense passion takes them both by surprise, eliciting a relationship neither expected. When her past collides with her present, Shannon is forced to confront it head on, tangling her in a web of lies and twisted truths that soon leave both bare and vulnerable.
Sometimes the only option is to be silent no more…
I'm an indie author of sexy, contemporary romance. When I'm not writing, you can find me reading some form of romance or playing in the dirt and mud in my ATV.
I live in Mississippi with my husband, son, and Bull Terrier, Xena. I love to hear from readers so if you connect with me on social media or meet me at a signing you can call me Nancy.
You may feel differently. I am not telling you not to read it. Reading is subjective. You may love it and perceive the writing and the story differently. This is my opinion.
The author was throwing around all the fancy car names which were insignificant to the story and it became a bit obnoxious. Yes, I get it - your friends and everyone you knew drove a Porsche, an Audi, and a BMW.
So much detail about everything even if it was not relevant to the chapter. Why do I care where the heroine's friend got pedicures once a month?!?! The friend that she just caught her boyfriend having sex with in their apartment (page 14). And I do not need to know who the heroine likes to spend her Friday nights with if it does not pertain to the story at that point (page 16). I do not need to know every detail about everything or every habit every character has.
I am also not a fan when the character talks to the reader asking rhetorical questions.
By the time the cliffhanger happened (AND I LOVE CLIFFHANGERS), I did not care. That whole revelation I thought came out of nowhere since it did not feel like a twist to the story. It felt placed there last minute.

Holy shit I loved this book. I went into it not even reading the blurb. I knew nothing about the book except for seeing the cover. To say I was impressed would be putting it mildy. I fell hard and fast with this authors style. She had the "It" factor that sucks me in. I started reading this book late in the afternoon and couldn't put the damn thing down. The infamous just one more page turned into an "Oh shit I work in 4 hours." I was in love from the Prologue. The moment I met Nicholas I thought this is my new book boyfriend. If you girls know anything about me you know I love the asshole type of guys that love hard. So the moment he opened his mouth my girly bits took notice and said "this blue eyed hottie is ours." She wrote the perfect man - bossy, stubborn, hot, moody, angry and all Alpha.
Nicholas..Why did I love him? Well let's start with saying he didn't take no for an answer. He fell fast, hard and without fault. To him it was it - he loved Shannon from the moment he saw her. Now let's throw in a defiant woman who goes against a strong minded man and what do you get?? Lots of fireworks and arguments on who is right and wrong. Nick bulldozes right into Shannon's life and he wasn't taking 'go slow' as an option. Shannon is strong willed and trying to overcome a past that ends up smacking her right in the face when she least expected it. Shannon has a lot to overcome and although she loves Nick the role he plays or more like the role he is associated with rears its ugly face not letting her move on.
Fuck me running! First book you ask? Hell yes.. If she keeps writing males like this I'm going to continue to be her biggest fan..The story line was great, the writing was great, and all the charcters in the book were great. I'm jumping on the N.E Henderson train and riding this bitch to the end. Her males will rival anything you have read. She has me hook, line and vagina. Prepare to be stalked, hounded and asked relentlessly are you done with the next book yet..Are You?
Upon reading, I immediately liked the characters and the story unfolding. The book was nicely paced and it kept my attention.
But, (there's always a but), you know that feeling,
Well, wouldn't you know it, it's a cliffhanger!!!!! Now I have to wait till Spring for book 2! (pouting)
The other thing that I found frustrating was how Nicholas & Shannon were dealing with their issues, which basically they're not!! They need to address their problems, but then again, they've only been together for a couple of months. (Yes, their relationship moved very quickly with a lot happening!!) Maybe, they'll sort everything out in the next book, and the author can tie up some of the loose ends!
All in all, Silent No More was an enjoyable read for me! And Nicholas is a worthy book boyfriend to add to my growing list!!
While I did like the initial pages, the characters became lost everytime I turned the page. My main issue was the consistency, it started off very strong but then some characters became lost in the page so I did not really care to know about the background of the story. It was a typical turning point that authors do, they write so well in the beginning but then they fail to keep the same charm that they had in the beginning. I would not say that it was boring but it was pretty dense when you look at how much the characters did not really explore their strengths but only felt this book was taking up paper.
Oh well it could have been better if the story was explored more but I started skimming towards the end.
Needless to say, I won't be reading anymore books out of the series.
I disliked everything about this story. And I'm not even talking about the stuff that needs TW.
No, my gripe is with the very judgemental, choose me FMC and the walking red flag that is the MMC.
The only thing I did like was the small part of the book where the FMC sees the MMC with his VP. Yes it was totally staged by the OW but honestly I live for those fictional gut punches.
While I'm mildly curious about whether the MMC comes back to her, I don't think I'll be continuing this Duet.
I got this one for the stuff your earbuds day a while back and I usually don’t have the best luck with those but this one was actually really good. I’m not even gonna take a breather I’m starting the second one right away! That cliff hanger was intense.
My username is Antagonist so I love me morally ambiguous characters that do questionable things. Despite not even making it to the "dark" stuff yet, there is just so much misogyny and toxic shit the author expects you to overlook. I don't DNF often, and if I don't like a book I will usually assume it just wasn't for me, but I think this just isn't good.
The main character is 'not like other girls', she doesn't wear makeup, and likes pizza, beer and speeding. She is portrayed as 'feisty', but I do not see that. She ignores all red flags and is all bark and no bite. She does whatever she is told, and not even in a slave x master kink way. She even says 'This is a red flag' then pretends like it didn't happen. I can only hope she develops as a character, but I doubt it. I want to be empathetic, I can only assume trauma is the reason she is making such stupid decisions, but come on girl.
Nick is a man-baby who punches holes in the wall and needs to learn how to emotionally regulate. She starts calling him sparky because he is constantly having tantrums. ICK. He has no understanding of boundaries, consent, or the word no. He says they will have anal, despite her saying she doesn't want to. He withholds information from her and comes off as controlling not protective. He even ties her up without asking and she has a panic attack. If that wasn't dumb enough, she put a pink collar on his puppy, and now he doesn't want to interact with it.
I do not recommend this.

This book is an emotional whirlwind that pulls you right along. I wasn't able to put it down. Coming from a 5 year relationship, after finding her ex cheating with her best friend, Shannon meets Nick and together they are explosive. He is the type of guy that wants everything his way, and she is the type that doesn't like to follow orders. Her past is something Nick is unaware of, but after meeting his father, it is just a matter of time before Nick finds out. To learn what happens read the book.
OMG are u kidding me right now !!!!!!! i was sitting on my bed , reading the book , couldn't wait to get to the last pages and BAM "a cliffhanger" ;( SO NOT FAIR , + i have to wait'till spring of f***ing 2014 the read the ending . BUT It's totally worth it , if you haven't read this book yet then i advise u ladies and gentlemen to get in your fantasy CAR & buckle up ,it's gonna be a bumpy ride ;D
Holy crap! I can't believe this is the first book by this author. This book is freaking phenomenal! This is one of those that deserve so much more than 5 stars. Be warned though, it has a helluva cliffhanger. But so worth the read!
This book was phenomenal...I wish I had Silent Guilt in my hands this minute...I loved how the story developed and the relationship between Nick and Shannon...sexually intense, emotionally turbulent...truly an awesome read...a must read!!
2.5⭐️ this was such an Wattpad story coded reading experience I cannot. I can’t say I didn’t like it, but so many things happened at once and this guy, the MMC, has a temper and patience of a time bomb. Always screaming and jumping to conclusions, istg if the misunderstand trope was a person it would’ve been him. And the FMC had this whole “I’m not like other girls”-thing going on which I hated as well as no backbone to fight back in any scenario. But I did like the story-line in general so I will be reading the second book, and I did like the whole Wattpad story vibe it gave off icl.
But I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this to anyone
To be honest I have mixed feelings about this book, because I loved and really enjoyed the story but I had a huge problem with the characters.
The story on its own is enjoyable, there are some twist and turns that I didn't expect, it had romance too, some hot scenes. It's nothing amazing or deep, or something like that but is not bad either. But the characters weren't my piece of cake. Nick is the most iritating, angry and selfish man I've ever met in a book; and I've read a ton of NA and Adult books.
He's so selfish from the beginning when he commands Shannon like a kid: do that, go there, undress, kiss me, move to my house. Like what the hell are you doing? I understand that you like her and you want to spend more time with her and you want to help her but can you stop moving her to your house just because you want and she thinks she wants? Can you stop fumbling through her stuff and move it around and tell her what to wear and eat and so on? He pissed me off so much and now I want to punch him so hard. Because he puts his desires and emotions and ego a lot higher than his relationship with Shannon.
But let me say that Shannon is stupid too. Maybe stupid is a huge word but I don't have another in mind now. She just escaped from a relationship with Luke that is a iritating person and a man that makes me want to punch him and throws herself in the arms of Nick. I've nothing to say that is a bad thing, yeah, she's a grown up woman and if she wants to have sex with a man that she likes, then who I'm to say no? But when she sees that Nick says to her to do that, to wear that, when he's angry from nothing and almost hurt her and she doesn't do anything...even when she thinks that is weird and a control freak she doesn't do anything. Or when she says to him all this stuff he tells her sweet words and then they have sex...and puff the problem is put aside. I hate women who don't have a spine or a brain to use. You can't stay with a man that tends to control everything about you after you already lived with Luke, you can forgive everything that he does even if is wrong and you know it. And why you do that? Because you like him and you think he's hot? Because you like the sex? Really?!
But let's end this because if I'd have this characters near me now I'll beat them both. Somehow they deserve each other, because they have huge flaws, Nick is a control freak and an obsessed, and Shannon accepts that and kinda love that. So... whatever. I'll read the next book? Yeah, because I want to know what'll happen. But I still don't like the characters.
Even if I had a ginormous problem with the characters I enjoyed the story and you can check it out. Maybe you'll like them, who knows?
Silent No More was an interesting read and yes it is cliffy! I really hope the second book will be out soon!
Shannon Taylor is a photographer with a gallery in Hollywood. She just broke up as she caught her bf cheating with her best mate.
Nicholas is a young rich businessman and has anger issue. The path come across, the heat and attraction between are really strong.
As she tries to get back to her normal life, Lucas shows up at her doorstep and threatens her. Nicholas was there to rescue her. Sadly, the story is getting pretty predictable. And no to forget, their insta-love.
Nicholas is hot and they are steamy - a positive side.
"Baby, slow down; I plan on enjoying every moment of this, every fucking inch of you. I've waited too long to rush to the finish line now"
"Damn, I love how wet I make you almost as much as I love fucking you with my fingers"
Ok first of all CLIFFHANGER ALERT! This book pulled me in with the first sentence! The book starts from the point of view of Nicholas Lockhart! He hates his father but loves his mother and younger sister Nikki. A strong sexy business man he own a couple companies. He notices Shannon Taylor a beautiful red head who is talking to him secretary. Then the book goes into 6 months later. Shannon is heartbroken when she cheated on by her fiancé.
Shannon then goes in stays in a hotel to figure out her next move. This is the start of her and Nicks relationship! Shannon is holding in something in her past that she never told anyone before. Will this tear her new relationship apart. I couldn't put my Kindle down once I started this was wonderful and funny and real.
" I don't like being called Nick." He pauses then adds..."Oh...and Shannon, I do hope you bought silk"
" I feel him tense, but only a little. "If we'd had sex last night, you would still be feeling it this afternoon, " he replies
This book was hot hot...I loved the characters and Nick is definitely one of my new book boyfriend!! Read Read
Silent Guilt out this spring 2014 the conclusion of Nick and Shannon Story
Silent No More by N.E. Henderson is a fantastic debut novel and start to a new, must read series. Shannon Taylor is a leading lady who jumps one life-altering hurdle after another and somehow manages to maintain her balance.
Nicholas Lockhart goes after what he wants, and what he wants is Shannon. The attraction between the two is combustible. They both have more than their fair share of skeletons in their closets; they are flawed and emotionally damaged. Put them together and they are perfect.
The feelings Shannon and Nicholas have for one another run deep, but so do some wounds. Silent No More is full of passion and hope. The ending left me wanting more – I cannot wait for the second in the series to find out where Shannon and Nicholas’s journey will lead next.
Hmmm... at last, I found a novel that I like after having a MY MASTER'S NIGHTMARE hangover..
The love scenes...so hot...especially the one in the office.
I like...no, i love how protective Nick is towards her. I like how weak she is when it comes to him, it's not really a negative thing, it just makes a guy feel that he's needed. :)
His dad deserves to die, I think he asked someone to do it.
WTF! I totally didn't expect this to be a cliffie!! She just told him she's pregnant and then he left...typical...but still!!! gosh! Why didn't I peeked and made sure that I wouldn't be left hanging?? so 3.5 star...instead of 4, coz it's a cliffie!!!!!!!
This book needs trigger warnings for r@pe and abuse. I almost DNF this book. I wish I would have stopped once the red flags started popping up. The female main character goes from one bad relationship to another one. She leaves a cheater for an abuser. Shannon is mentally and physically abused by him but she makes excuses and blames herself for upsetting Nic. She has an ex, her r@pist, a stalker customer and an abusive boyfriend all wanting her. She’s the text book “I can fix him” and women don’t need a book glorifying this type of behavior. This book leaves you with a cliff hanger and I will not be continuing this series to see what other drama happens.
Wow, this book shocked me. In the beginning I was a bit on the fence about it. But as the book progressed and you learned more about what happened to Shannon, I was hooked and I needed to get to the end to see what happens.
And then what... Cliffhanger... WTH!!! Where did that come from? I was shocked out of my mind, about how could the book just end like that.
So now there is no release date for the next book, so uncool. How long must you suffer???
But enough complaining, lol... I really enjoyed it and I am seriously DYING to read the next one.
HOLLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF?!?!?!? OK I WANT SECOND BOOK LIKE RIGHT NOW!!!!! OMG I WANT IT LIKE THIS SECOND!!! WOOOOOOW!!! MY MIND IS BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HURRY UP WITH NEW BOOK!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was so fucking toxic, I’m mad when I realized I completed this Lack of communication. A horrible and aggressive MMC Don’t waste your time please I can’t even finish the duet I don’t care, if I was her I’d fucking RUN
Spoilers....If you do not want a hint at this story, please do not continue!!!!
How would you feel if you meet someone that was your soul mate but it came at a time when you just ended it with your fiancé? Would you go for it or hold back? Me, I would go for it. Especially if it is Nicholas. Nicholas and Shannon are seriously one of my all time favorite couples and just cannot believe the trials and obstacles that they go through. One minute you think that everything is all hunky dory and then all of a sudden you are little pulling your hair out! There were several times that I just tossed my phone away because of all the emotion I was feeling. The ending to say the least blew me. I had no idea that this was going to be a cliffhanger, I was so freaking shocked. I just kept looking at my percentage and thinking, NO, please do not do this to me and BAM. It does. This story will grip you and choke you and will not let you go. That is the reason why I loved it so much. Nicholas is sexy and so domineering and to say that he is possessive is an understatement. There were times were I felt like he was going way to far but I was already in love with him. He couldn't do no wrong. Shannon is at first hesitant because she just found out that her fiancé was cheating on her with her best friend since school so I completely get it. She lets him get Nicholas get his way so much and she wonders why she is not independent. I honestly do not blame her. Yes, I love Nicholas that much. Now do not get me wrong, it went a little beyond than possessive but not enough to come across stalkerish but others might say differently. To me it was just plain sexy and I wouldn't have asked for less from him. The chemistry between them is a scorcher. It is honestly one of the hottest that I have read and damn I was so jealous. So much happens in this story and to me it was not enough. I wanted more, I wanted it to go on and when it ended the way that it did I was beyond p'od!!! In a very good way! I love how a story just does that. It is when you least expect it and I wouldn't want anything different. I honestly cannot believe that this is Mrs Henderson first book. Bravo!!!! You should be very proud of this and I am so excited that I got to read it. I am waiting rather impatiently for the next one!
Nick is one sexy ass business man. Holy hotness! This man has it all. Wealthy business man, good looks, good friends, Alpha male, yet he likes his home simple. Bingo, Shannon has hit the jackpot with Nick.
"It means if he wasn't gay and had his hands all over you on the dance floor, his face would have come in contact with my fist. That's what that means." He tells me though dark, intense hooded eyes.
Shannon just walked in on her fiancé cheating on her and kicks his butt to the curb. She is one strong female. I loved her smart sassy personality. She refuses to let anyone bring her down or tell her what she can and on not do. She is strong, a fighter, and confident.
"What business is it of his where I am? The last time I checked, I don't belong to him either. What is it with men in the last few days, thinking women are their property? This woman belongs to no-fucking-body!"
Besides the fact the all the characters have great development. The plot was very good. Don't be fooled into thinking this is another Rich messed up alpha male coming to save the heroin from her poor life. This book is so much more. Shannon is an amazing female lead, with her own business and money. I loved that about her. Plus she loves to shop. ;-) Her past was meant to stay buried but it all comes crashing back Into her life when fate decides to cruel. How can she hide her past when it is connected to what she hopes is her future? I was truly surprised by the twists in this book. My heart broke for Shannon and I felt for Nick.
This is an amazing debut novel for this Author. I'm itching to get my hands on book two.
On a side note. N.E. Henderson has freakin awesome taste in music. From The band Perry, Metallica, and Papa Roach. She mentioned two of my favorite songs, my favorite rock band of all time (Papa Roach) and the sexy as hell lead singer Jacoby Shaddix. Yep I'm in love with Henderson. She Rocks! I'm throwing this quote in just for fun. It's like she took the words straight from my mouth. Lol
" I probably should not be staring at him this long, but he reminds me of Jacoby Shaddix, the lead singer from my favorite band, and in my opinion, the hottest man in the world."
Book Worms received this book as an ARC for an honest review. We gave this book 5 stars. Lindsay a Book Worms Reviewer left this review. Thank you Lindsay.
