While the Divine Syndicate is working to prevent an outbreak of demons, vampires are disappearing and turning up as corpses.
The Union of Justice is known for tracking and serving justice on vampires. With the increase in departed vamps spiraling out of control, the UoJ's top field agent, Zale, and his partner must switch from their normal job to investigate the remains of destroyed vampires. Identifying those responsible is proving to be a big challenge. Zale needs the assistance of the vamp community, only they have their own idea of ending the bloodshed. They want to kill demons. But murdering humans, possessed or not, is against the law. Complicating matters, neither vampires nor the UoJ trust each other. Mankind's future is dependent upon vampires and vice versa, but both are at stake as the demon population grows. Zale will do anything to save lives and end the madness, even if it means working with the one species he's chased his entire career.
Book two in the Divine Justice series introduces Zale. He's tough, sexy, compassionate, and determined. Oh, and did I mention that he's a werewolf? Yep, a sexy werewolf who hunts down rogue vampires. Zale certainly doesn't trust the vampires (with good reason), but now it looks like he's going to have to work with them to prevent more bloodshed by the demons, which, in turn, protects the humans. So, the vampires need the werewolves, the humans need the vampires, and everybody needs the demons to be gone. (That's all the spoiler you get!) The Divine Justice world gets a little bigger with the introduction of the UoJ and we learn a bit more about each race and their role in society - and they do have roles. They work, have friends and family, go out for a drink, etc - perfectly normal things that we all do, only behind that normalcy lies supernatural beings that live on blood, or shift into a werewolf, or maybe even cast a spell or two. That's the thing about these characters, as you read, you can picture these "normal" people passing you on the street or even living next door. They're all interesting in their own right, even the annoying Ray with his complaining and prejudices. Overall, Demon Tracker is witty, engaging, loaded with action and suspense, and absolutely unputdownable!
I'm hooked. Completely, utterly, and irrevocably hooked. Book one took us deep into the Divine Syndicate and introduced us to it's vampire staff and the demons they battle. This book gives us an intimate look at the werewolves that make up the Union of Justice who deal with lawbreaking vampires. Here we see fear, panic, paranoia, and centuries old prejudices hard at work pitting the werewolves and vampires against one another rather than their common demon foe. Zale is a true alpha hero without actually carrying the title of Alpha. He has the courage and heart of a noble leader. All of these are tested as he has to make split-second decisions while trying to protect his city from a potential demon Outbreak. I can't wait to see how he and Anna will work together in book three. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
This time we get to know another main character - Zale, he is a werewolf that works for The Union od Justice (some kind of the police, that deals with bad vampires). Why Zale hates vampires? What had happened in his past - will he manage to get over it? Add to it demons killing a lot of vampires and outraged society - there will be a lot going on here. For book three: will Zale and Anna work together in order to protect vampires and humanity? Join them in next book - I can't wait to discover jest story in this Universum.
I love this world that the author has created. Book 1 had us meet Anna and the Divine Syndicate. This book introduced Zale and the Union of Justice. I really enjoyed getting to learn about this world and what is happening from the view of two different departments (species). I love that this book involved more than 1 species. There are werewolves, vampires and demons. I can't wait to read book 3 and see how Zale & Anna work together to deal with their mutual problems.
The were's have to adjust their views on old grudges
Stunning. This is seen from the were point of view and runs parallel with book one which is from the vampiric viewpoint. Why have vampires started going missing? Zale works for the were police and although were's and vampires are enemies he starts to change his views. Bodies are turning up showing signs of torture and dismemberment. Is it time for the vampires and were's to put aside old ideas and move forward as one. Absolutely great read and can't wait for the third book. A great fantasy read.
Looking at the demon activities from the werewolf perspective, for they were the ones that administered justice to vampires who killed humans. So, now those same werewolves were being asked to work with vampires. It took some getting your head around the change from both sides. Vampires viewed those werewolves from the Union of Justice (UoJ) to be prejudice against Vampires and the Werewolves, who only come into contact with rogue Vampires, were sceptical about trusting any vampire. However, they had one common foe: demons. And for the world to survive, they needed to work together.
Demon Tracker introduces the reader to Zale who is a werewolf who hunts rule breaking vampires. He is rough around the edges and a womanizer but I loved him anyway. He tries to keep the peace and do what's best for the world even when the odds are stacked against him. This book tells Zale's side of the story and along with Book 1 leads up to the full length novel Crisis Alert. I love the world and creatures that Mary Abshire has created in this series.
This was a new author for me and it was the cover that drew me in. Unfortunately, the writing wasn't for me. The dialogue put me in mind of a Dragnet or Men In Black with no humor. Nothing was wrong with the overall story. I couldn't connect to any of the characters. I will try another by this author but not this series. I received an ebook at no charge for which I voluntarily provided an honest review.
Zale a werewolf that works for The Union of Justice, his job is to hunt down the law breaking vampires. When vampires start to go missing he is tasked with investigating what is happening to them. Demon Tracker is the second novella in the Divine Justice series and happens at the same time as Demon Hunter. I'm really looking forward to seeing Anna and Zale work together in Crisis Alert.
Action packed and well written. I cannot think of such a great blend of paranormal beings and well thought out world, situations, storyline. I look forward to third book in this series. Abshire is in my top 10 for this series.
Well, I think the next book should be very interesting. This book has set up the details of what has been happening for the Vampires and how difficult it is going to be for Zane and the Werewolfs to work together.
If you don't find Zale hot, you must be of the wrong gender. Not only is he intelligent and strong, but HOT! You will love this story and admire Zale as the hero he strives to be. Don't miss this one!!
Wow! An action packed story that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could to see what was going to happen next yet I never wanted to to end. Loved it.
The series is getting better but it still has a slow start. I'm thinking each book is going to get more interesting so I will definitely continue this series.
