Once a man pledges his honor to his country, that sacrifice is embedded in his soul forever. For years he’s trained to fight, kill, and do whatever necessary to protect his country and its freedom, even if it means giving his own life. He becomes more of a machine than human—one that’s built to destroy the enemy. When it’s time to turn in his weapons, he never forgets the skills he learned. Never forgets the smell of death or feel of a rifle in his hands. The same hands that one day cradle his baby girl and caress the skin of his beautiful wife. If anything or anyone ever tried to steal away the family he has vowed to love and protect, may God have mercy on their soul. This is a Men of Honor novella. All prior Men of Honor stories must be read in order to read this one.
K.C. Lynn is a small town girl living in Western Canada. She grew up in a family of four children—two sisters and a brother. Her mother was the lady who baked homemade goods for everyone on the street and her father was a respected man who worked in the RCMP. He’s since retired and now works for the criminal justice system. This being one of the things that inspires K.C. to write romantic suspense about the trials and triumphs of our heroes.
K.C. married her high school sweetheart and they started a big family of their own—two adorable girls and a set of handsome twin boys. They still reside in the same small town but K.C.’s heart has always longed for the south, where everyone says ‘y’all’ and eats biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
It was her love for romance books that gave K.C. the courage to sit down and write her own novel. It was then a beautiful world opened up and she found what she was meant to do…write.
When K.C.’s not spending time with her beautiful family she can be found in her writing cave, living in the fabulous minds of her characters and their stories.
I know I need to do a proper review for the novel Fighting Temptation, which precedes this novella, but I just had to write one for this novella after I read it. I LOVED Jaxson and Julia in Fighting Temptation and they were equally perfect in this novella. The addition of their miracle baby girl Annabelle was just a wonderful extra to the story. In this novella, Julia ( who works as a counsellor at Annabelle's elementary school ) and everybody else at the elementary school are taken hostage by a group of mafia/terrorist guys. The novella opens up with a sexy scene when Jaxson returns home after jogging and makes some hot morning loving to Julia before she goes to work. I loved the scene at the breakfast table when Annabelle makes him pay a couple bucks into the Swearing Jar for cussing. It was so cute and it was fabulous to see that Jaxson has turned out to be a great dad, because in Fighting Temptation he had always feared that he would be a horrible father like his own parent had been to him.
Jaxson is no longer a Navy SEAL but he gets back into action when he receives word from Cooper ( the hot sheriff H from The Final Temptation ) about the situation at the school. All the guys from the Men of Honor series are worried because they all have kids who are in that school. Jaxson is doubly worried because his wife and his only child are in danger. I loved how he turned into a badass again and went into warrior mode. He and guys were great in their reconnaissance of the school and in their eventual defeat of the terrorists. I felt Jaxson's pain after he saw that Julia was shot. The author was awesome at capturing the H's love, inner torment and the agony he feels when he thinks his wife might die. It was also great to get a few cameos from the other Men Of Honor and their heroines and to see all the kids from these wonderful couples. But my fav 2 couples in this series will always be Jax and Julia and Coop and Kayla from The Final Temptation. My only complaint: I wished this had been longer.
So I guess Jaxxson finally finally kept it in his pants for Julia after their first book (Fighting Temptation). In that book it only took him like 7 years to stop fucking other women, even when he knew it hurt her. Good for you doormat Julia, see you just had to pine for years and years for him to stop screwing everything in skirt and finally turn YOUR way. And how lovely, you remained a virgin for this prick. Eye roll.
I haven't forgotten his douchebaggery from the OTHER book and no I don't forgive his sleazy ass! I'll never ever believe he loved her after his disgusting behaviour in their other book. He turned my stomach.
That is why I won't read this, because he turned me completely off in the first book.
“Until my dying breath, I will protect what’s mine.”
This book had me at the edge of my seat. It's amazing what lengths a parent would go for to get and protect his family. Jaxson was bad ass along with the rest of the gang.
You know you love the book, the character's, the story when at some point between your reading, even after you finished it you will pause for a while. Reliving the moment, clutching your chest, sighing even then sporting that wide grin with tears streaming down your face due to the emotional roller coaster you felt that's about to burst your heart and utter the words, "Now, this is what you call a book that feels so alive."-And this is what Fighting With Honor means to me. A book that's just not good but a book you will cherish for the rest of your life.
I've been a fan of KC Lynn since the first time I read her book. So, to revisit again the charaters that has been a part of me, I could not contain my excitement. For all of those holy, these characters and their lives changed me, moved me and made me a better person. I live and breathe KC Lynn's words and these character's so I am so excited I devoured this novella for God knows the fastest I've ever read. God, it was nothing I've ever expected! Without giving you too much details away I wil just leave my review with this...
This novella is EVERYTHING and then MORE. KC Lynn did not just nailed it, she aced it with class!First few pages and I was hooked. The weight of the emotions conveyed to every words and lines got me. I turned from swooning that leads to ovary explosion (because well, Jaxon's all consuming love happened right from the very start), to laughing then sobbing until the very end with my heart in all pitter patter, adrenaline rush coursing through me to leaving that poor heart the best heart warming feels it ever experienced. God, this novella was just the bestest! To my surprise, I got to visit again the whole gang. In as much as I wanna say this book is Jax and Julia's, I could not deny the fact that it was also the whole family's. It's just so good to read something from them again, coupled with that feels from each of these characters that only KC Lynn can.
In the end, I was touched by this book in the whole totality. Everything was just excellently portrayed. Family (blood or not), Hope, Faith and then Love. Lordy, how was it portrayed brilliantly. And that ending, wow...it was just so amazing! Another surprise from KC Lynn that made me in awe with her talent even more. Ahhh how I just love this author's writing. She really has a way with words. Every emotions were just captured amazingly.
KC Lynn, kudos to you! With the state I was in reading this novella, no wonder I was alway a wreck when I finished your full length books. The good thing though, you write one of the most perfect heart warming feels and I was healed.
If you’ve read the “Men of Honor” series, then you will definitely love this short story. Focused mainly on Jaxson and Julia (you should remember them from the first book in the series), this story happens during a school shooting, in the same school where Julia teaches and most of the kids from the series MC’s study. It’s a sweet, heartbreaking at times, and endearing novella that will take right back to these couples and remind you why you loved these books. If you didn’t read this series yet, I strongly advise you to start now. You’re missing out on some sexy romances filled with alpha males.
Rating: 4 Stars. Steam: Some heat. Triggers: Love Triangle: Cheating: HEA: ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Jaxson Reid stole my heart years ago when I first read Fighting Temptation, and the sexy fucker has never given it back!!!! I was beyond thrilled when I learned that Jax and Julia would be getting a novella, I mean giddy thrilled!!!! Considering I have read Fighting Temptation at least 3 maybe 4 times, it was so very awesome to get more of Jax and Jules in a different story. And true to KC Lynn form, it was a spectacular story with a whole lot of action, some hott sexy times and love that warms your heart.
Jaxson is a special kind of man. He is the type of man that will do anything and everything to protect those he loves. He is a man who has fought for his country with such honor and passion, no matter the outcome of the mission. He lives his life with the same honor and passion. He is also an extremely sexy alpha beast and knows how to love and treat his woman.
It takes a special kind of woman to heal a man like Jaxson, and by God, Jules is that woman. The love she feels for him is palpable when you read their story. I have so much love in my heart for Julia because she is such a beautiful person inside and out. She is also the only woman that could ever truly tame the Hulk and is his soul mate.
Anybody that knows me knows I absolutely FLOVE The Men of Honor series, it has been one of my favorite series since I started reading. There is just something about these characters that speaks to me on a level I can’t explain… These characters prove that you don’t have to be related by blood to be a family! I mean Ms. Lynn has portrayed their stories in such a realistic manner, it makes me wish I could be neighbors with them in Sunset Bay.
If you have read and loved the Men of Honor series as much as I have then this story is for you. Watching Jax with Jules and Anabelle will melt your heart.
Whilst I loved catching up with the MOH gang, this sweet novella left me wanting so much more .... more Jax, more Sawyer, more Cade, more Coop but then I guess I'm just greedy when it comes to these hotties :D
5 Outstanding Stars...This short novella packs an emotional punch...reuniting us with the characters from both the "Men of Honor" and " Acts of Honor" series, this story takes us on a tragic journey into a school shooting that threatens the lives of our heroes' families....once again, our military men are called to arms to defend those they love...KC Lynn has created such strong and compelling characters whose relationships are so touching, raw, and real that they invoke an array of emotions from love, to heartbreak, to laughter...I love revisiting these characters and immersing myself in their world...thank you to KC Lynn for another great addition to this phenomenal series:)
4th book Novella had my whole heart ♥ in my behind... 🤯😱🥺😭😭😭😭
You really don't need to read the 1st 3.5 books before reading this one. Unless you want to be well acquainted with all the characters and their personal stories first.
This one touched on a tradegy that we as Americans, unfortunately, know all too well, and too many times over. So there are some triggers here. Tread carefully. Caution ⚠
I do so love this entire series, however, and I would definitely recommend this series based off of books 1-4.
You get some spice with Jax and Julia at the very beginning here as well. 🌶🌶
This very brief Novella was executed beautifully 🤍
My two cents is this book made me cry. Not a cryer with movies or books, and I hate crying. Yep...
My tearing may have a lot to do with the timing given we've had 202 mass shooting in 2023 alone which is disgusting, horrifying and frankly embarrassing so this hit home hard. Plus I'm an ex-teacher who's been considering not subbing due to all the shootings.
Julia from Fighting Temptation is at school when some Russians mafia invade looking for a family member. Most of the little ones from the series are at school, and it's not a good situation. Given that this was written in 2014 when school shootings were bad, but not as prolific as they are now I can't imagine how Lynn would handle the story current day.
Jaxson was not my favorite hero in the series by any means, but he ups his game and the whole manly man crew go in to save the day. It's exiting, heroic, and swoon worthy. This is the kind of schmaltz I read romances for, not the cheating and mean man-babies. The guys save the day but not without consequences.
Triggers: school shooting, traumatized kids, and, gulp, secondary characters die on scene. I found that pretty rough.
I'm totally biased when it comes to the MOH series (spin off incl). I loved every single one of these books and I loved this one as well. I even shed a tear or two and this novella has only 68 pages. "eye roll" I'm a goner for K.C.'s books. They are like my coffee
Her books give me all the feels.
This novella reunites characters from the original and spin off series, but the main focus are Jaxon and Julia from the #1 book. I love how they still love each other after all these years, how protective Julia was over the kids, how Jaxon went into the Hulk mode when his wife and daughter were in danger. I love all the kids, they are so adorable and sweet.
I need more. This felt like eating a crumb from a huge piece of cake.
I don't know why I didn't read this back in the day when I read the rest of this series and honestly I have forgotten everything about those books but I obviously loved them at the time and this book for as short as it was was great. It absolutely hit the spot of a quick good book before bed when I don't want to start a novel
I’ve read this novella two times. Because you can’t read Fighting with Honor once and think: „Yep it was good…”
After the first time my reaction was: What have just happened, where is my vodka? It was only a short novella. Because I knew what would happen I was tense from the very first page thinking: „How? When? Now! Shit!” So I was reading fast, curious how this story will end, how sexy Jaxon will turn into Hulk Mode.
And my second time: Because I could not stop myself, ladies. K.C.Lynn gives us not only Jaxon and Julia perspective. She gives us all beloved Men of Honor, their feelings, their anxieties, their love and happiness, their big hearts.
This novella reminded me why I love Men of Honor. Why I love reading. Why I would give everything to have my Man of Honor and why I am going to ask K.C.Lynn if she could adopt me. Because her books are everything!
A nice finale to a series. Although there were people in this one that I'm assuming are in the spinoff series that I haven't completed yet. So maybe this one should be at the end of Acts of Honor. Idk.
The gang was back together fighting bad guys and being possessive of their womenfolk.
What an emotional punch in a short little novella! Holy Moly! The terror is all to real for many people. School shootings have become too common in the USA and Lynn writes a powerful story about her heroes experiencing an American tragedy. The story includes many of her characters, but focuses on the SEALS from the Men of Honor series mostly.
Now, its a short novella so I am not going to tell you everything that happened. But, know that there are bad guys who take over the school and people die. Lynn's characters tackle the feelings of helplessness that all parents endure when something like this happens. Her characters feel it a bit more acutely because they are suppose to be able to defend their families. The story is brief, but gripping and emotional for sure.
If you have enjoyed KC Lynn's books, this is a novella you NEED right now. Seriously, trust me on this, you will want more of the MoH men and their families!
POV: dual 1st Tears: yes Trope: mortal peril Triggers: Series/Standalone: series (you need to have at least read the MoH books before reading this! Characters from her Acts of Honor series are included too. Cliffhanger: HEA:
Any of KC Lynn's previous books...then you will probably like Fighting With Honor!
Jaxson Reid is what heroes are all about. He took my heart in this story and I so want him as my book BFF. I was very glad when I heard that this book was going to be about him and Julia. This was a beautiful novella read and it was a definite KC Lynn story. Jaxson is a true warrior and special man. He fights with honor and grace. He does everything to protect those he loves and he is a man who has fought for his country with honor and passion, no matter what the outcome of the mission was. It takes a special woman to heal a man like Jaxon, to see the type of man he is and heal his soul. That woman is Jules(Julia). She loves him sooo much, you can definitely tell it by how she embraces him, heart and soul. What seemed like an ordinary day for Jaxon and Jules ended up changing their lives—for Jaxon will not rest until he saves his heart and soul, his wife and children. We get to visit with the other heroes from the previous books who make quick stops in this story to help Jaxon save his wife and his children and others in this book. It was action packed along with emotional. I loved how they all came together to help their friend and comrade save his wife. I don’t want to say anymore except this is a keeper read!!
My Rating: 4.8 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
If anything or anyone ever tried to steal away the family he has vowed to love and protect, may God have mercy on their soul.
Fighting with Honor is a novella that packs quite the punch. There is nothing that this core band of brothers-Jax, Cade, Sawyer and Cooper will not do for their families. Surrounded by their good friends Anna, Logan, Slade, Christopher, Alissa, Ryder and Nick-they are an impenetrable force. I won’t spoil this story, but will just say that after a sweet morning of loving between Jax and Julia, their lives and those they love, will take a turn that will stay with them for all time. Sometimes things we never imagine happening will happen. But even the most horrible of threats will not stop these over the top alpha’s from protecting what is theirs. They will risk all for the loves of their lives.
My heart was racing, my eyes were wet and I flipped the pages of my Kindle like a crazy woman. I was expecting a steamy, sassy story. This was so much more than I had anticipated!
As long as we have this-have each other-we have everything. Nothing or no one can taint something as precious as this because love will always drive out hate, even in the most devastating times.
"Until my dying breath, I will protect what's mine."
How does she do it?? How does she pack so much into a short little novella? How is it possible to have so much action, so much drama and all in the feels in such a short read? I don't know how she does, but man oh man does KC Lynn continue to just blow my mind.
Fighting with Honor might be a novella, but I am here to tell you, this story packs a punch. It hits the ground running and will leave you breathless. Within minutes you can feel love and devotion between Julia and Jax. You will be fanning yourself one moment from all the hotness and holding your breath the very next when the unthinkable happens. You will be on the edge of your seat dying to know what will happen next....
I didn't just read this book, I devoured and consumed it. I was swept away and lost in Jax and Julia's story. I couldn't read through the pages fast enough. And in true KC Lynn style, she not only delivered a story of true and profound love, but delivered a story of devotion, honor, and lifelong friendships. Fighting with Honor gave me all the feels, pulled at my heart and kept me begging for more.
Fighting with Honor is a fantastic addition to The Men of Honor Series and I highly recommend checking it out.
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
HOLY SMOKES Jax and Julia are brought to us with some men we also know. This is tragedy at its best and honestly I had a hard time reading it being a teacher. Its our worst fear. Someone coming in and wanting one of our children or just randomly shooting. This is the story ... Oh and you will find Men of Honor and Acts of Honor characters in this one.
Being that this is a short read this is about all you are going to get. Have no fear. Keep turning the pages even if you think you cant or you are afraid. Keep turning ... I promise you. It will be ok.
Thank you for the ARC and the chance to read. This one was heart wrenching. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
Another unbelievably amazing read from KC Lynn! Her books always knock it out of the park and even though this was a novella, it still had the high quality suspense, love and depth.
I was so excited about this novella. It has all the original Men of Honor and their families. The story is packed with so much emotion and love from each original family. Oh!! I'm not going to give any spoilers but there is a huge twist at the end. You have to read and see! I highly recommend this book along with all her others!!!
Loved it loved it loved it❤️❤️ Jaxson,Cade ,sawyer and the rest was great they were all together and being there alpha bad selves .. but I wanted a full length novel .. I wanted more .. I want more 😩😩 x
Kc Lynn woman you head my heart jumping out of my chest with this one. I cried so much and not all were good tears. Beautifuly written I missed Jaxson and the boys. Can't wait for what you come up with next. Excited to learn all about the creed brothers.
Somehow, I managed to completely miss the fact that K.C. Lynn was releasing a novella this month. When I found out it was released - and early! - I dropped what I was doing, downloaded Fighting with Honor, and started reading. Because who couldn't use a quick dose of alpha men?!
The story started off with a quick shot of steamy. It's a great way to start a book - right?! Following a quick "recap" of which children belong to which couple, the story dives right into the action. From there, it was kind of a hard story to read. Not because Ms. Lynn didn't write well (she did), but because of the plot of the story. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but if children in danger is a sensitive subject for you, you may want to prepare yourself. I knew from the blurb that Jaxson, Sawyer and Cade were going to be forced into some kind of rescue mission, I just wasn't mentally prepared for how serious this book was going to be...
K.C. Lynn has made great strides with her writing - technically, she's grown leaps and bounds! But what was missing from this book was the humor that's usually present to balance out the heartfelt parts. I was glad we got a glimpse of everyone we know and love, but it was just a glimpse. I feel like this story could have been plucked out of the middle of a full-length book, which I suppose is the hazard of a novella-length book.
All things considered, this was a good story and I don't regret dropping everything to read it. But as is typical of novellas from a favorite author, it left me wanting more.
I am in aww of KC Lynn and all that she writes. That even in a short novella she can bring me to tears. Make me smile and swoon, giving me so many emotions that once i've finished it's a story that will stay with me forever.
Jaxon Reid was the first man of honor in (Fighting Temptation) that i meet and started me off with this breathtaking series. And i love that we get these novella's to add to the honor collection getting to see where the sexy alpha men and their families are at.
A perfect day with his beautiful family starts off with Jaxson Reid making love to his beautiful wife then sitting down to have breakfast with the little girl who owns his heart. Then seeing Julia off to round up all the kids from the MOH compound and heading into the elementary school where she works.
This perfect day then takes a turn for the worse effecting the lives of everyone. There are gunmen in the school where his wife and daughter are and multiple shots have been fired. The Men Of Honor will do what comes naturally to them and rescue their loved ones no matter the costs.
"Until my dying breath, I will protect what's mine."
While Jaxson and Julia are the main characters of this story, i love that we get all the families especially Sawyer!! This was a fast paced, action packed novella that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. If like me and you're a fan of the series and everything KC Lynn then you definitely don't want to miss this novella and if you haven't by some miracle ever read from KC Lynn then where the hell have you been!!!
5 stars for this heartfelt and emotional novella with the MOH crew set in beautiful Sunset Bay. While Jaxson and Julia Reid are the main characters of this story, all of the author's heroes make at least a quick cameo in this book. This was a fast paced, action packed novella that I finished in about an hour. A seemingly routine school day has Julia rounding up all the kids from the MOH compound and heading into the elementary school where she works as a counselor. Shortly after the start of the school day the lives of everyone in that building will never be the same again. Jaxson Reid ran his usual miles around his property that morning and made love to his beautiful wife, but shortly after arriving for work he gets a call that changes his entire world. There are gunmen in the school where his wife and daughter are and multiple shots have been fired. Jaxson, Sawyer and Cade will do what comes naturally to them and rescue their loved ones no matter the costs. This was a non-stop action packed novella that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. We got to see literally every single hero from the previous books come together to rescue the children and Julia. Fans of the series definitely don't want to miss this five star read :)
