Fleeing Ella Wood and haunted by her past...

Lizzie is the first of three novellas that accompany the highly acclaimed Ella Wood trilogy, a sweeping Southern romance series. Lizzie can be read as a standalone, but when Ella Wood, book one of the main trilogy, is only 99 cents, why not start there?

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Lizzie has made it aboard ship without anyone guessing her deception, but many miles still lie between South Carolina and freedom in Canada. With two small children to hide, she and Ketch will no longer have their former master's daughter, Emily, nearby to protect them. They'll need to rely on their wits, their strength, and each other.

Though Lizzie loves Ketch and longs to merge their two small families, she's still haunted by that violent night at Ella Wood nearly a year before that resulted in the birth of her son. Will she be able to put that nightmare behind her? Will the North hold the peace, safety, freedom, and love she so desperately desires?

But before the steamer even leaves Charleston harbor, the water glows orange with danger...

I read this as part of a boxed set, so this is my complete review. Another great set of stories by Michelle Isenhoff. The main Elle Wood stories are very engaging but you wonder about the other key characters that you are drawn into in the main stories. What happened to Lizzie, Jack and Jovie when they were out of the main story line? These stories fill in the blanks and are as well done as the main stories. I now know the "rest of the story" to quote an old favorite radio show. A definite read for anyone who has read the main stories.

A heartwarming story about how good people can be found amidst pain and oppression. I have not read any other the other books in this set but this one can stand alone and I did enjoy it. Received as a complimentary copy in return for an honest review.

What a great addition to the Ella Wood series. This is a novella about Lizzie and Ketch and what happens to them once Ellie gets them on a boat headed north. I loved their story and what they went through for freedom.

This story is short but it was fun to learn what happened to Lizzie and Ketch after they left Ella Wood. Hopefully there will be more about their adventures in their new home.
