A picture is worth… The clock is ticking. A dark shadow descends over Candlefield, and everyone looks to Jill for help. But where is she? …precisely no custard creams.
This is the latest novella in this series I've read, and each on I rated 3-4 stars more 4's then 3. I'm not going to keep reviewing them, you can read the 1st 10 to see what I thought or you can download the first one for free on Amazon I really recommend you do that if you like witch stories or funny British humor.
Expected publication: October 23rd 2017 for the next book in the series, just in time for Halloween a lite reading with Winky and Jill
I enjoyed this episode more than the last few. I don't know if it's because Jill seemed more mature, or that there wasn't as much background stuff going on. Thankfully the Custard Cream intake was a lot less, now if her blueberry muffin intake could do the same.
Entertaining and quirky urban fantasy mystery series.
An entertaining and quirky urban fantasy/mystery thriller series. Jill good or a private investigator grew up in the normal world. She was adopted by a family and her father was a private investigator who taught her everything she knows. After her father passes away she takes over his private investigator business and upon learning that her biological mother is dying goes to meet her. At that time something happens and she soon finds out that she is actually a witch. She finds out that she has more family living in a supernatural town not too far away. Her grandmother her aunt and two cousins all which is coming to her life. She begins to learn how to use her magic and while doing so continues solving crimes in both the human world as well as the supernatural world. Always entertaining with a bit of dark humor and mystery.
A new yarn shop is to be opened by an old enemy. Kathy wants to work there since she would get paid more but she doesn't know the full story behind the shop. Amber and Pearl come up with another unusual idea.
There's some good descriptions of Ghost Town. Caroline, the young ghost at school that Lizzie can see, has been missing and it's up to Jill to find out what has happened. Winky is up to his usual tricks (maybe if she got him fixed it would mellow him out some?)
It's all the usual things in this book except for one thing that caught my attention. Jack seems to be getting into a habit of making commitments of attending this or that without consulting with Jill at all. It's like he's made the decision now she has to live with it.
Unless his behavior changes I think there may be some serious problems ahead for their relationship. On the other hand, considering how much of a pushover Jill is, she just may go along with it all anyhow.
This book is one of the more entertaining books in the series. I like that Jill now has several cases at once, as well as a continuing backstory. There are a number of amusing events in this one also and it makes for a fairly busy book. Certainly this series has evolved with each successive book, and I wholeheartedly recommend the series for light amusing reading.
I am 21 books into this cozy series and that must indicate how satisfying and fin it is. I tried the first one on a lark, saw that the series ran to 43 books and have been chuckling my way through them ever since. Some characters are such boneheads, I wish I could slap them but overall they’re funny, interesting, and relatively harmless. Try it, you’ll like it and want to magick yourself over to Candlefield to meet all the witches and vampires.
Jill really shines in this book. She is managing to navigate life in three worlds and solve mysteries in all three. Some of her big solves involve a missing person, a missing owl and a missing ghost. This book was a lot of fun to read and I look forward to the next book.
My favorite kindle author of all time. Jill's adventures have turned into a comfort food for me. Please keep writing!! Can't wait for her wedding, although not too soon!
I've read the series of with PI books, they are simple enough to follow, with enough plot twists to keep me entertained. They're great for reading whenever I'm stuck somewhere for 10 minutes.
As I said before this is a great series. This book has Jill and her 1 eyed cowboy cat! Doing crazy things. Jill solves all her PI cases, while traveling from human world to sup world and GT.
Witch Is Why The Owl Returned (A Witch P.I. Mystery)
I love reading these books they light and funny. I always read them after reading books that are serious and heavy thinking. Jill always makes me laugh especially with her cat Winky!
This was a sporty little book. Lots of mysteries and Jill saves the day for so many people and saves the gnomes. What more could you ask for in a cozy mystery? Oh yes there was romance!
Absolutely wonderful characters that interact with each other beautiful! Fabulous plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series.
I love these books. They are easy to read and they make me laugh. I read government legislation for a living so it is nice to have a series of books that are entertaining and don’t take a brain cell to read. Highly recommend.
I don't know where Adele Abbott gets her ideas, but I hope that they keep coming. Love Jill Gooder and her wacky families and pets. Somehow, she always solves the mysteries and saves the day.
I think these books are legitimately getting better. The plots entwine a tiny bit more and there's far less incidence of the author forgetting rules she established earlier. This one was enjoyable as always, but a total tease in terms of the larger hinted plot.
This book continues the story of Jill Gooder, PI. She meets the most interesting people along the way. The reader can’t put these books down. Love this series! On to Book 22.
