Where I End

Rate this book
Eve
Pretentious. Arrogant. Condescending. Cruel.
All words I'd used to label him. Exactly what I’d always believed he was. All that changed one spring morning when I realized I didn't know the man behind the facade at all.

Angry. Desperate. Broken. Mine.
All words I'd use to define him after I interfered. Once our eyes locked, I was all in. There was no turning back. He tried to push me away, but I refused to let him go. I was determined to save him. What I didn't expect was that he would save me, too.

Cy
I was so close to ending my misery. Mere seconds away. Then she stumbled upon our argument, and I changed my plans. She wasn't supposed to be there. She knew too much. Even with my entire world burning down around me, she wouldn't walk away.

I’ve always been on my own. No one had ever fought for me before. Why should anyone start now? But she did, no matter how much I tried to stop her. I knew I was nothing, unworthy of her, but she was persistent. Once she got under my skin, I couldn't let her go, because where I end, she begins.

Favorite Quotes:

‘You don't get to keep walking away from me… At some point, I'm going to stop chasing you.’ In truth, I will stop chasing him, but I doubt I'll ever stop caring for him. There's only so much I can take, though.

I love you to the point of pain, Evie. My chest hurts when you're not near.

You're the most important person in my life, Evie. I was going to tell you right away, but the moment I saw you, all thought left my mind.

My Review:

I struggled while reading this book, not with the intense subject matter or main plot lines, but primarily with the writing style, it was just not my cup of tea. Most of the elements for a satisfying read were present; the premise of the book was relevant and topical, many of the story threads were interesting and entertaining, the narrative was presented in my favorite dual POV, and it concluded with a satisfying HEA. However, the writing was several shades too melodramatic and repetitious for my taste, and that is all a review actually comes down to, personal taste. I mean no disrespect to the author or her fans and certainly have no intention to cause ill will. I am also well aware that while I may find some tropes and styles cheesy, other readers are eating it on toast. Apparently, this is one of those times. C’est la vie.

The plot and premise were good, but the writing was subpar and the delivery fell flat. The story was a good idea and concept, but there were huge issues with scenes and explanations, and it made the story weak. This one just didn't work for me.

The reviews of this book were very mixed so I wasn't sure what I was setting myself up for in choosing this. Once I began there were no mixed emotions coming from this reader!. I was deeply invested in the two major characters from the beginning Loved the dual POV, the honesty in their dialogue & of course the heart-wrenching emotion.
Cy, rich kid, has everything money can buy...except a happy home life. His father died when he was three, his mother remarried & on the surface everything looks fine.
Eve, middle class, both parents are employed, her mother works as an assistant for Cy's mother who runs a very successful business from her home. Eve has a happy home life but is finding high school quite trying. Cy, a leader of the pack, seeks her out daily to torment her, bully her & laughs at her along with his group of followers. She doesn't know what she has done to deserve this & tries to avoid him to no avail.
Six years later, Eve's parents move to Florida & with her business degree takes over her mother's vacated position as Cy's mother's assistant. She excels at her job, loves it actually but still runs into Cy on a daily basis since she is working in his home. There's been a change in his behavior, now he acknowledges her as Evie, a pet name of sorts, smiles at her & the bullying has stopped. She is much stronger now, gives as good as she gets & no longer fears Cy as she once did.
One day she hears an argument coming from the back patio, then makes her presence known after hearing some shocking revelations from Cy. He is with his mother, tearful, pleading & desperate.
I can't say more about this scene as it's best to read first hand. At this point though Eve & Cy's relationship drastically changes. Eve takes his hand, walks him to her car & takes him home with her to be safe.
This is a long drawn out journey between two characters that begin almost as strangers. A caring friendship emerges into a romantic one. Cy is emotionally & physically scarred, terribly damaged & feels unworthy of Eve's care. It takes Eve's love, patience & determination to get him to believe in himself. There is also a third party in all this drama that stole my heart & that is Parker, Cy's best friend. He had no idea of what Cy had lived through & so offered a place for him to stay, unyielding support for both Cy & Eve & added some much welcomed humour when needed. I love a book that brings out my emotions, makes me feel sad & delivers the promise of something better for its characters. This exceeded my expectations with a wonderful HEA.

A very raw and unusal story... There were moments when I loved it and moments when I felt it was to over the top. The subjects that are the focus of this plot a serious and the way they were handeld felt good. I as a rader felt that it was good to show "stuff" can happen to anybody and at any time. There is no guarantee just because you are of a certain gender and a have a certain position in society that it will not happen to you.

I really liked the characters and the plot but in the end I could not give it 5 stars because there were to many moments that felt "over-the-top" and while it was well written there was never a moment where I felt near tears even if the story would have demanded it.

Overall: 5/5
Naughty Factor: 3/5
POV: Dual/1st person

I could not step away from this book. From the moment I read the Prologue, I knew it was going to be emotional but I wasn’t prepared for the depths of emotions this story would evoke. The author did an outstanding job of conveying the emotional turmoil of the characters and capturing their brokenness. But was also in this story is strength.

The amount of strength and grace Eve’s character had was near saint levels. She was the true savior in this story and the unwavering support she offered and provided to Cy was remarkable. She was there when she needed him and didn’t let him push her away she he did not want her around. She was an aspiring and admirable character.

Cy showed remarkable strength as well. With Eve’s persistence he was able to overcome the horror of his childhood and her light pushed out his darkness. Together they healed each other and evolved into a great love.

Parker was a great best friend to them both and I can’t wait for him to get his HEA in Where I Am when it’s released.

This was such a beautiful story and an absolute page turner.

DNF @ 42%.

I felt like this book was on fast forward. I saw the entire story going way too fast, like snapshots of time and couldn't get into any of the character's lives. I did not enjoy this author's writing style at all. There was so much emotion to dive into, yet it wasn't taken advantage of at all. There was a ton of telling, not showing.

***ARC received in exchange of an honest opinion***

I struggled a lot with this book. The plot line was refreshing, I've read plenty of books about abuse, but not many on that point of view, so it was diffeRent than what I usually read. The problem was the story was told too fast. There wasn't time for me to relate to the characters or the story.

There was so much emotion to be explored in a story like this, but unfortunately I think the author missed it. The writing wasn't bad, but it also wasn't there either. Things kept happening so fast, without any continuity.

A story like this has immense potential to be an amazing angst read and I feel like that opportunity was lost.

I really liked the prologue, so I thought the rest of the book would follow, byt unfortunately that didn't happen. Then things started happening without warning and no real past background. I understand the story was being told as it went, but it needed more development from one scene to the other.

The super fast pace led to some cheesy lines and the insta-love didn't help me in connecting with the characters.

Overall, the idea of the book was good, but to me the execution was lacking, there was a lot left to be desired.

This book is a rollercoaster of messes. It's not I didn't enjoy it but there's so many things going on and the pacing was just too fast for me.

There were certain issues that I felt needed to be addressed but they're brushed off because of new revelation after another.

It's hard to explain but I feel like with all that's going on, it needs to be smoothed out a little bit.

The author would like an honest review for this book.

5 stars

I have to say is wow. This book is more than just finding someone you connect to you in many ways. It doesn't happen overnight. You might not even like the person at first, but when that person becomes your life line, you learn that maybe it was always that person at the beginning. This book starts with this boy that is a total jerk to this girl. Just being a plain old bully, but the thing is, even when the bullying is going on there is more being said. Cy is that typical rich kid. Everyone looks at a him in awe, so when he sets his rage on a defenseless Eve, well all I can say is you will hate him and want to poke his eyes out. He's just the mean and popular kid is school. When this prologue starts I want to rip him apart. Eve is a sweetheart, even in the beginning. She has a heart of gold and for that you will fall in love with her. what she endures in school, she should have to, but it happens to someone somewhere.

Years later, Eve's parents have moved away and now Eve is working for Cy's parents. She sees him everyday and everyday its another girl. She has a big heart and Cy's mother has become like her second mother. The only thing she does is work and spend lonely nights at home. Other than that she is a very lonely person. Cy has had a lot of girls walking into and out of his life., the only constant is seeing Eve everyday. The problem is he has some dark secrets that have been kept for years and it has hurt him more than anyone could ever know. So what happens when you walk into something that was not meant for your ears. Eve just did that. She heard things that can never be taken back and now she know she has to save Cy. Cy never wanted Eve to know what has happened, but when she walks in and asks him to leave with her, he does. What happens next is going to put a lot of faith in the two of them. They don't know what is going to happen, how they are going to feel, or if it is going to work. There is a lot of work that needs to be done, will the be able to finish what they started.

There is so much I want to tell you about this book, but it will give the whole book away. There is so much feeling in this book. So much devastation. So much heartbreak. So much love, that you will be so wrapped up into what is going on that you will finish this book before you know it. I loved this book, the whole message of this book is breath taking and I hope to read more from this author.

Growing up Eve was tormented by Cy. He gave her such a hard time during high school like a typical jerk. As time goes on we discover the reasons why he treated her the way he did. When you find out why your heart will break. I did like Cy and Eve as couple but they moved just a little too fast for my liking. I get that they have a history and she works for his mother but I wanted more of a slower burn with the couple. Despite that minor issue I really liked how they balanced each other out. They were each other's missing piece.

What. A. Ride.

I honestly had no idea what to expect when I was reading this book. One second I just knew where the story was heading and boom plot twist! This book does touch on some very heavy subject matter and my heart broke for the main character. I normally stay away from books like these but I'm happy I continued with the story. This was my first time reading anything by this author and I enjoyed her writing. This is the kind of story that sucks you in and you can't stop reading.

Jesus this book had me feeling all different kinds of emotions, first anger towards Cy then sadness, then happiness. I was an emotional mess reading this book literally from start to finish the book had me in a blubbering mess, the topics are so close to home for me so I could relate to Cy on a personal level but even if that wasn’t the case I know this would have still been an emotional read nonetheless. The author sure knows how to tug at our heartstrings😢💔

“I bring my free hand to his chest right above his heart. "This heart of yours, I can feel it beating. It's strong and full of life. A life not over. Don't end it all now. Not when you have so much ahead of you. Come with me, Cy. Let me show you what's out there. What life is like when you have someone who cares about you.”♥

Cy was such a brave and strong man you know to overcome everything he went through and was still going through and still kept fighting even when he felt he didn’t have any more fight in him.

“There is no help for me! It's me living through this shit existence day after day. And the worst part is you seeing me like this.”

Of course, he had Eve to help him through it all even with him pushing her away all the damn time but sweet, caring Eve never gave up and stood by him even when she was hurting herself.

“Because I can't fucking walk away from you! Because every waking moment of every fucking day, I think about you!" I'm breathing heavy, my chest rising and falling. I can only imagine how feral I look.”

“Can't you see, Evie? I'm no good for you. Every time I'm near you, shit gets out of hand. You're better off without me in your life.”

I loved Eve so much, she again was strong and selfless to put all her own feelings aside to help support Cy as well as saving his life that day. She didn’t give a damn what happened years previous with them and that fateful day when she saw what Cy was about to do well there past just went out the window and all that mattered was the now.

I loved how both characters healed each other in this book and showed remarkable strength towards each other.
I also loved Parker(even if he was an ass at first lol) but yes Parker was such a great friend to them both and there for both of them if needed. I love how they were all a family and stuck together through the good & bad times.
Parker was just great and I can’t wait to read his story next 😁

Anyway, I would highly recommend this book to you guys & honestly, if I could give more stars I would.
You will not be disappointed but you will definitely be an emotional mess so be prepared(you’ve been warned)!💔

Thank you Michelle Dare for exploring these raw & sensitive topics/subjects and thank you for a great book, can’t wait to check out more of your work☺️♥️

Now to end it with one of my favourites quotes from the book also I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I did.

“I would burn down the world for you. Then and now. You're my past, present, and future. Where I end, you begin.”❣️

This has been one of the most emotional books I have read this year. From beginning to end this book had my emotions on rollercoasters edge. And to me it was an ugly cry so you will need some tissues. But that just means this book has such an impact on me that in touched something deep inside me. But living something similar will do that to you. But I also love this book because it's one that brings to light how some things are done. How someone living in that situation are made to feel. These subjects needs to be touched and talked about so much more that way it happens less and less or at least know there is help out there. Every single person out there needs to read this book. And big shout out to Michelle for stepping into this book and writing Cy and giving him Evie and Parker. No amount of words could give this book the proper review and 5 stars is in no way the proper amount of stars. But I highly recommend this book. By Tina

This book was a total roller coaster of complex characters and many twists and turns. I did have a hard time getting into it at first and lingered on the first few chapters for days before I really found the focus to really get into it. Once I did, it took off. Loved the two main characters Eve and Cy. They have known each other since childhood and come together later in a way they just really couldn't have Forseen. There is a dark and twisted path and reason Cy picked on her in school. There are some tough elements in this book too, hit I was glad I stuck it out and came out on the other side happier for having finished it!

Phenomenal book!! This story was an absolutely beautiful and emotional rollercoaster ride!! Eve and Cy didn't have anything remotely close to a good relationship I'm high school and even years later things weren't much better. Until the day the Eve literally saves his life. She learns the horrors that he's been enduring and is determined to do everything in her power to help him heal. One last battle with the devil and they can finally start the process of putting the past behind them and focusing on what could possibly be a very bright future.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily

Deep- is the first word that comes to mind with this book. I literally went through a roller coaster of emotions throughout this book along with the characters. I was hooked from the prologue and could not put this down, it was read in one sitting. I love how it's not you average insta love kind of story, it feels real, raw, and deep. It was relatable and felt real. Overall I liked it a lot and really really hope we get to see more of Parker. Maybe a book for him too? Pleaseeeee?

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

I have read a lot of Michelle's book and I have to say this book is different than her other books. The book took me by surprise!! My feelings went from angry, to crying, to understanding. I really felt what Eve went through as well as Cy.

From the prologue and the first few chapters I didn't have the best opinion of Cy. I wanted to reach into my kindle and put my hands around his neck. I wanted to hurt him for being such a$$ to Eve. Then the plot thickens. I don't want to give anything away so I will say that I fell for Eve just a little more for what she does for Cy. There several times in this book, as a mother that unwanted to hurt Cy mom. I really think at the end, she knew she messed up, but it was a little to late. Glad to see that Cy step dad got what he deserved.

I love how Parker fits into this story and hope we will get to see him in a future book. I love how he went from flirting to becoming one of Eve's best friends.

Can't wait to see what Michelle writes next.

Where I End was a great read. In the beginning I couldn’t help, but like Cy; even if he was a bully. He just drew me in. I mean there had to be a reason for his cruelty. Right? Now, Eve didn’t fit in with the rich crowed, but I liked that she held her ground. Fast forward a few years and these two are completely different. Eve is sweet and big hearted and now working for Cy’s mother, but when she over hears an argument, she couldn’t believe her ears. Or the sight before her. Instead of running away, she stepped up and changed both Cy and her lives.

The romance between Cy and Eve is satisfying. These two certainly have chemistry and as they push away from the past and into their future you can see them express their love for each other with ever page. Michelle Dare did a wonderful job bring these two together and making us fall in love with Cy. She shows that some people can change or do certain things for reasons we’ll may never know.

Where I End is a book I would highly recommend.

This book is hauntingly beautiful with some serious triggers but amazing and well done. Truly this was an emotional ride and all that Cy went through broke my heart. Evie was a very well written strong character who I could only hope to hold one ounce of her strength in real life. The author did an amazing job writing through these trigger and dark issues without minimizing what people would go through.

I truly was completely captured in this story and listening to it on audible brought it to life in such a greater way for me. Either way you can feel the emotions and struggles of each character straight to the bone and I really really need Parker's story now

“You’re my past, present, and future. Where I end, you begin.”

Where I End is one of those books I have had to sit down and think about before writing a review…it was so emotional! It was painful, at times very hard to read, yet it was also a beautiful portrayal of love, acceptance, and full of hope.

When I read the synopsis, I had no idea what an emotional journey Michelle Dare would take me on. Cy and Evie have known each other for a long time. To say they had complicated feelings for one another would be a grave understatement. Cy was not an easy character to like in the beginning. In fact, I hated him for the way he treated Evie. It was HORRIBLE!!!! However, after the prologue, my hatred for Cy turned to heartache, just like Evie’s feelings. Michelle Dare completed turned my world, along with Evie’s, upside down. I had not expected that twist. I was shocked, and my heart was broken. This is where the real story of Evie and Cy begins.

Both characters were ones I will not soon forget! They were complex and extraordinarily well-developed. When she introduces Cy’s POV, readers see why he has acted the way he has. Both of them were very realistic and human which helps readers connect with each of them, especially Cy. I knew he loved Evie, yet he was so afraid of his darkness affecting her. He wanted nothing more than to protect her.

“I’ll try to push you away to save you from the pain. I don’t want to suck you down into my world, Evie. It’s a dark place.”

She lifts her head. “I can bring the light with me.”

Evie amazed me in her strength and courage. She never turned her back on Cy. She never let him run and hide from her, yet she gave him the space he needed. That fierce love and courage in turn gave Cy strength. What I loved the most was they saved one another. She gave him love and security, and he gave her love and a life with friends and companionship.

Michelle Dare has proven her ability to write in several different genres, and she has also broached serious social issues before. In my opinion, this one is one of the most serious and isn’t always talked about. It is an issue that needs to be discussed, and as usual, she does it with love, sensitivity, and respect. While it’s one of the most emotional and heartbreaking books I’ve read, it also offers hope. Your past cannot be forgotten, but you can take the bad things and turn them into positive things that can and do help others who may have suffered the same things you did. Your story can help someone else, and I believe this book will definitely help someone who needs it. For me, this is Michelle Dare’s crowning achievement, and it proves what a talented and versatile writer she truly is!

Eve
He was Mr. Popular and I was his target. I don't know why he picked on me through out high school and made me the butt of his jokes. He was mean, cruel and I hated him. Well, I tried to hate him but part of me felt something for him, I mean he is handsome. I was at war with myself, having mixed emotions about a guy who is so swoonworthy but so mean to me. Why?

One day, I interfered and now I am in the middle. I learned something about him then and it changed everything. I saw him in a different way, He wasn't the mean, cruel teen anymore. He was broken. There was no turning back, I was all in. He tried to push me away but my emotions weren't conflicted anymore. I was determined to help him and save him but he saved me.

Cy
I was so close to ending the pain I've been lived in. But she interfered and it changed everything. She believed me even after how mean I was to her in high school. I am no go for her so I push her away which kills me but its for the best. But she won't listen and refused to leave me. No one has ever believe me or fought to help me but she did. Why? I don't know but if she won't leave I am not going to let her go because "where I end, she begins."

Wow, How amazing is the phrase "where I end, she begins". It gives me chills. This was an amazing heartfelt book. It has a lot of emotions going on with the characters and as you read, you can feel their emotions. At first, I wasn't so sure if I was going to like Cy, because at the beginning he was so cruel to Eve. But once you find out his secrets that haunt him and how he feels about Evie, they you understand. Boys tease girls, did he take it too far, yes. But this type of thing is seen everyday. I can relate to Eve because I experience the same type of things Eve did. I felt this could be a true story and felt real to me. The characters were real and I felt what they felt. Which is what a author strides for when writing a book. I loved these characters. It was a great book full of all kinds of happy and sad moments. Eve is an amazing person who found her place because she was lost for awhile and discovering Cy secret gave her a purpose and made her step out of her comfort zone and make friendships and relationships. This was something she didn't really do it the past. I was hooked and read it cover to cover. It is a book I would recommend to anyone!

I am seriously speechless after reading this book. It truly had me captivated from start to finish. When I first started reading the book, it seemed like it would be a standard jerk from school falls in love with the girl he torments. Yes…..that does happen. But Cy’s story was something I’m not used to seeing from the male lead character. My heart truly broke for him and all the suffering he endured over the years. Doesn’t excuse how he treated Eve during high school, but it makes you understand why he acted that way towards someone. And Eve…..what a truly remarkable character. When she runs out to stop Cy at the pool, I felt the tears forming. Here she is, trying to help someone who has been nothing but cruel to her for over six years…..yet, she has the compassion to stop him from doing something he can’t take back. After that happened, it was difficult to see Cy push Eve away; but I was thankful that Parker was a good friend to help take care of him (and yes….I want to see more of Parker!)…..and to help show Cy that if he didn’t realize what he had with Eve was real, that he might lose her. And wow…..Cy & Eve together were so hot! They truly had an amazing connection that was undeniable. Yes, they went through some even tougher times together (seriously, Everett…..ugh), but they came out of it stronger. I’m glad that at the end, Cy’s mom was able to get some slight redemption in the form of the letters that were left (which I did not see that coming with how she included Eve)…..even if it didn’t excuse her actions with Cy when he was a teenager. I think those letters were necessary to help Cy reconcile his feelings for her, and to move forward in the stages of healing.
This book was definitely dealt with a darker and more taboo subject matter for a romance novel……but the author dealt with everything delicately and beautifully. Cy & Eve’s story is one I will never forget!

I'm sure there are more things I could say about this book, but they would not come close to describing how amazing this book was! Definitely in my top reads of the year so far! I highly recommend this book.

I have started to write this review so many times, and each time I end up throwing out what I wrote! I wish I had the ability to articulate my feelings for this book. I’m going to do my best, so please understand that everything I say should be multiplied by like a thousand! No, maybe a Million!

This was absolutely, by far the best read of 2017! I could not put it down, and when I had to, I couldn’t stop thinking about it! This book was so strong, written so well. It is centered around some delicate subjects, however the way Michelle Dare brings the story to life could not have been done better. From the very first page I was hooked, and most definitely hating Cy! He was a complete….well, you can fill in the blank. And, Eve, was just a sweet girl, dealing with his wrath. Talk about a strong femail heroine! We should all be so lucky to have a friend like her. As, the story goes on, and you find there is more than meets the eye with both Cy and Eve, I just continued to get pulled in, and found myself falling harder and harder for both Cy and Eve. I loved that the characters had so much depth, and there were some great life lesson/reminders, like you never know what someone might be dealing with, sometimes there are scars you can’t see..

Warnings for this book! Do not start it if you don’t have time to sit and read it all! That happened to me, and I hated everytime I had to put it down. You will cry! You will laugh! And, most importantly you will be reminded that there is good, and there is love and in the end it can and will win! You will also be left with a massive book hangover, that might just ruin you for other reads…but it’s worth it all! This is a definite MUST READ! This is not a book to be added to your TBR ‘when you have time’ – this is the book that needs to go straight to the top and the next book read! It really is that good! No, it’s better than that good!

Where do I begin with this book? Seems my black heart is melting as Michelle Dare is now included in my elite group of authors making me cry. This book had me right from the start, as I could see between the lines with Eve and Cy. But what Dare did with this story, my heart broke, and melted at the same time. Dare takes a topic, actually two, and puts them in the forefront of how someone would heal and deal with being put into that situation.
My heart shattered for Cy. That scene literally breaks you in so many pieces and what Eve does for him is just awe inspiring. To be that person who was the brunt of his torment to being his savior. Eve is one of those girls who you want to be friends with. But the torment she endured in her past made her gun shy. But she comes out with a bang! I love how she takes control. There are some scenes that will have you fist pumping going HELL YA girl!
The one thing that was amazing is the passion between Eve and Cy. That spark is undeniable and when they come together is it fireworks. They play so well off of each other and feel each other physically and emotionally. No matter how they fight it. They belong together.
Overall, this is one brilliant, heart wrenching story that has you gripping your ereader. I know it did for me. This story will break you, melt you and inspire you. You will be wrapped up into this tale like no other. You will be left breathless and completely awestruck with what Dare has given us. As a huge fan of hers, the stories and writing just becomes more and more epic with each book that stalker level is close at hand. As of right now, she knows she’s lucky I love her LOL. I urge you to pick up this book and give it a chance as it will blow you away. PS when is Parker's book?

5 Stars

I give Where I End by Michelle Dare five stars. Where I end is a standalone adult romance book. Eve was bullied in her High School years by a classmate who she always saw as being cruel and arrogant. Eve always believe this classmate was really like this until one fateful morning she got a glimpse into the real man and it was all just a façade. When Eve saw the real man, she realized that he was not only broken and angry but that he was hers and all it took was the lock of their eyes. No matter how much this man tried to push her away she will never stop trying to save him. Cy has always been on his own and he never had anyone in his corner to fight for him. He was within inches of ending his misery until this girl stumbled upon his argument and made him change his plans. Even though this girl knew everything she refused to walk away no matter how much Cy pushes her away. This book has some violence in it and it has some sexual content. This book put me through a wide range of emotions and was very well written. I loved both Eve and Cy and I feel that what happened in their lives it what made them who they are. I really loved this book and I highly recommend you read it!

Favorite Quotes:

“She’s mine and has been since day one, freshman year when I first saw her. She didn’t know. No one did. They still don’t. The fact will never change. As long as I’m breathing, she’s mine, even if she doesn’t know it.”

“No matter what you throw at me, I’m not going to leave. I will fight for you. I will stand beside you and show the world you are not alone. I will do whatever it takes to protect you.”

“I would burn down the world for you. Then and now. You’re my past, present, and future. Where I end, you begin.”

Holy smokes what a story! My head was spinning after finishing this one, because first I hated Cy and then I empathized with them, and then I hated him, and then empathized..get the picture?

Cy was rich, popular and a bully in high school. He had his group of friends that were as arrogant/entitled as he was and a trail of women that were at his beck and call. However, he loved to torment a girl in school named Eve. He was constantly being mean to her as well as embarrassing her. Did he really despise her or did he secretly have a crush on her?

Poor Eve she tried so hard in high school to disappear into crowds to avoid Cy bullying her. But, it always seems her timing was off and she'd walk right into him and his annoying group of friends. How could someone be so mean to her that didn't really know her? Sure, her mom worked for his mom but that's all he knew about her.

Fast forward a couple of years and Eve works for Cy's mom taking over the job her mom had. Unfortunately, for Eve she gets to see Cy and his flavor of the night most mornings as they leave the house. One day she's hears arguing between Cy and his mom. She decides to go investigate what's going on and what she encounters will change her whole life!!

If you have never read a Michelle Dare book you are missing out! Her stories always have you captivated beginning at page 1 and holding that captivation through the whole book! Her characters are always likable and real. Her story lines are always spot on! When I begin one of her books, because I've read so many of hers, I know no matter what the story entails, I'm going to love it!!

When you start to read this make sure you can finish in one sitting! Great job Michelle Dare!
All through high school Eve was teased, she didn't grow up in town and for some reason Cy has teased her mercilessly. Cy and his friends are from money and the most popular kids in school and Eve's mother works for his. Eve only really has one friend and she knows it's only because Cy teases her that maybe her friend would get accepted by the cool group. Six years have gone by and Eve now works for Cy's mom and she enjoys it except for seeing Cy and his friends but Eve is not the embarrassed girl she once was so they don't really get to her. Risa his mother invites her for dinner and she never gets away with turning it down but that night Cy and his stepfather Everett get in a fight so she leaves but not before Cy stops her to apologize which he has never done before. When she comes to work next she hears and sees some things that cause her to take Cy home with her. Now Eve can't help but try and help Cy along with his friend Parker but the things she feels for Cy are sneaking up on her. There are a lot of messages in this story besides the obvious and you don't even realize how subtle it is. I just loved it and I am hoping to read more stories involving Cy and Eve and some of the other characters we have met in this story.

Where I end
Where Do I Begin, I am left like what am I supposed to do. Such a hangover .
This book is bully to savior, Cy Revere was a bully , a rich popular guy, the guy in high school. Eve became his target, for some reason he made everyday a living Hell for Eve, she doesn't understand why her, what she did to deserve this torture that Cy dishes out everyday.
All grown up but still a introvert Eve works for Cy's mother as her assistant she see Cy all the time always with his last night conquest . She will always be drawn to Cy even after everything he did, but she hates herself for it.
Cy is broken, he has been traumatized for years, and the one person who he told thought he was lying and let the abuse continue. When he hits his breaking point Eve stumbles in saves him. She gives him something worth living for.
I was not expecting this book to be so hardcore, gut wrenching, beautiful. Cy you hate him, and then you weep for him he is a broken man, who is strong, but he doesn't even know it. Eve, he calls her Evie that women has more courage, compassion , and forgiveness then any other character I have read about. I will never forget this story , I think these characters are embedded in my heart. I wish I could give it so many more stars. This is a Deep, Deep read that will leave you with a hangover
