I have read this book a number of times, especially when I need to re-focus on my health and fitness. This book was the foundation my two year program for weight loss. I have maintained over a 50 pound weight loss since the beginning of my fitness program in 2004. It is not quick program and I took at least twice as long for every step than Bob Greene recommends, but overall I think it is one of the best. I prefer this book to all his commercial ones done with Oprah, as I think it is the most real one. In more recent ones, he seems swayed too much by book sales and less passionate about really helping us stay healthy.

This was a real motivating book for me. When I read it, the furthest that I had run was just over 3 miles. He talks a lot about pushing yourself to accomplish more. While I was reading it I was able to work up to 6 miles--the first time I did it I felt like I had completed a marathon!
