For the past year, talented chef Millie has been consumed with running her new catering business with her sisters, Dru and Tasha. It isn't until Jackson walks through their door that she realizes something may be missing in the recipe of her life.
For the past year, Jackson has been dealing with the fallout of his wife's abandonment. He's had to learn how to be a single father to their eight-year-old daughter, and will do anything to fill the void her mother left. It isn't until he commissions Millie for his daughter's birthday party that he realizes he's forgotten that he's not only a father, but a man.
They both think they're content in their lives, but sometimes the right amount of spice can turn an okay dish into a magnificent one. A Pinch of Salt may be all that's needed to bring Millie and Jackson the flavor they've been missing.

You have no idea how much I wanted to love this book...
☾Okay, I already know this is going to be a long review because I have too many thoughts and just bleh okay? Read on at your own risk.
☾I wanted to love this book SO much, you actually have no idea. I've been waiting for a single father book for weeks - stumbled upon this due to Instagram and was really excited to read it. I didn't hate it. But there were SO many times I literally cringed or laughed because a scene was just not right.
☾If you're a crazy reader like me, then you know what I'm saying when I say the male POV was WAY too sensitive. Yhe guy was acting like a high school girl!!! "Should I hold her hand" "I was dying because I think I love this girl so much" "she has a crush on me" "I hope she doesn't want to take things to the next level" and again, there's nothing wrong with it but when I'm reading a book, I 100% want to feel the masculinity if it is a M/F book! Like I want this guy to be my book boyfriend, not cry if the girl doesn't kiss him???
☾Not only that but the plot was pretty bland and the story kept going back and forth. Imagine reading a book that constantly says "1 week later" except it didn't say that!! You had to just assume it was a few days later and not be told what happened.
☾Also, didn't like how the father daughter relationship was portrayed. I could tell the writer was trying to make the relationship the number one priority, but it didn't come across AT ALL. No matter how many times Jackson told Kayla she was his "number one", it didn't come across that way literally at all.
☾In all honestly it seemed like it needed to go through A LOT more reviews and edits. I would've liked it a lot more if it was reviewed a few more times...So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I wouldn't recommend this to people who are the tiniest picky about what they read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I just wasn’t feeling it. I needed something fluffy after the last intense read and I thought this fit the bill. I just wasn’t connecting with the characters and I felt like I was being told about their connection to each other and how wonderful they were, but didn’t necessarily see it or experience it.

I accidentally stumbled upon this series a few days ago and decided to give it a try. It was just the light book I needed to break out of my beginning reading slump.
I love sisterhood series and the idea of the Three Sisters Cathering reminded me of an older Nora Roberts series about four friends owning a wedding planning company. Anyway, I liked the overall atmosphere and how tight the sisters' relationship was. And Jackson, he was such a sweetheart!
The sotyline was super cute, but everything was a little too perfect and it ended up being quite predictable. There were still a few nice surprises that will actually be further explored in the next installments - especially if I'm not wrong about Dru's pairing. And no, I won't cheat to verify my guess! Because, yes, I'll read Book 2 ^^
Millie is the talent behind Three Sister's Catering. A top dessert chef. When Jackson enters the store asking for a miracle, a tea party, for his 8yr old daughter. She doesn't fully know why she agrees. She just sees the desperation in his eyes and okay, he was hot too.
Jackson was thrown when he took sole responsibility for his daughter a year ago when his ex just decides to split. He noticed Millie the second he walked into her store and when she goes over and beyond for his daughter Kayla, he is even more drawn to her.
As these two spend time together they will face obstacles, like his daughter holding out hope her mom will come back and seeing Millie as a deterrent to that happening. Will she be able to win her over? Will the ex come home?
This is a 1st read by this author and I loved the characters she build in the leads, the daughter, and the secondary characters.
This was a cute romance only. Should be labeled a Christian Romance. Absolutely no drama, no "sex" no nothing. a single level book that was ok, very slow start and didn't get much better. If you want a no effort read, this is a good one. I will not be reading the other two books in the series, I need something in a book to hold on to and this one had nothing. A single dad (wife walked out) raising his daughter, meets the lady who caters his daughters b'day party....finds his wife - serves her divorce papers, the daughter has a hard time accepting the new girlfriend and kinda rebels. HEA thats the whole story in a nutshell...
This one was very cute, a bit predictable, but you didn't mind that as Millie and Jackson were charming. I could have done without the drama from Kayla, but she did redeem herself at the end a couple of times.
A sometimes bittersweet, thoughtful and ultimately hopeful story, A Pinch of Salt is a mix of romance and women's fiction as it tells the story of Millie who runs a catering business with her two sisters Dru and Tasha and single dad Jackson, a high school English teacher whose wife abandoned him and their daughter a year ago.
Jackson is a bit in limbo, still wearing his wedding ring but having come to the realization that his wife is not coming back to him and their nine year old daughter. I found that hard to understand as a mother myself, and the fallout of that event has some repercussions as the story plays out. Luckily, Jackson has found an understanding and loving woman in Millie who despite her own childhood issues, is able to bring happiness and completion to their lives.
There are several scenes with Millie and her sisters since they work together and are close to each other, especially as their mother passed away not that long ago. Millie's sister Tasha looks to be on course for a second chance romance with one of Jackson's friends as well. Jackson and Millie click well as a couple, and the attraction between them leads to some sexy love scenes as their dating life turns more serious. Jackson's daughter Kayla plays a big part in the story too, as she is dealing with her mother's disappearance, and struggles with her feelings about Millie being in their life in a more permanent way. Fortunately the conflicts get resolved in time for a happy ending for them all. It's a good start to this series! 3.5 stars.
Note: a copy of this story was provided by the author for review.
This was such a nice sweet romantic laid back story. Don't get me wrong still had it's drama and ups and downs. But for most part it was just a sweet story. I loved both characters in this book
Millie is a talented chef who just opened her own business with her two sisters. Finally they are doing what they love to do and honoring their mother as well. So for Millie her life is pretty good right now, until Jackson steps into their shop frantic as he needs help with his daughters birthday party, and she wants a tea party. Millie doesn't normally do the decorating part of the party but the minute she saw Jackson she was attracted to him and she couldn't help herself and she agreed to help him.
Jackson's wife left him about a year ago, just upped and decided that she needed to live her life. So it's only been him and his daughter. But the minute he steps into the Three Sisters catering store and meets Millie he is infatuated with her. And he thinks he is ready to move on with his life.
You're the pinch of salt we needed to spice up our lives, and I'm grateful that someone as amazing as you would fall for a romantic literature nerd like me
This book was so sweet and romantic and Jackson was just so swoon worthy that you didn't have a choice but to fall in love with him. And believe me you will fall in love with their story as well. A definite feel good story that will leave you with a happy smile on your face.
And I can't wait to read the rest of the sisters stories. Tasha and Jericho I am waiting for your story.
A Pinch of Salt (Three Sisters Catering) by Bethany Lopez Bethany Lopez sweetened the pot. A Pinch of Salt, should be renamed A Dash of Sugar. Not only does she serve up some spicy romance, she gives readers a taste of a father's love. Written between the lines is a tablespoon of sage advice and all of this is delivered with a teaspoon of love. Caring can be as simple as lending a kind ear or helping out a friend or taking a chance by risking it all and opening up one's heart again. Reasonable advice hidden in a tasty little package.
A Pinch of Salt is the first book I have read by Bethany Lopez, and I completely loved it. This book was so heartwarming, sweet and made your toes curl. I loved the three sisters, and their teasing. My favorite character would def be Jackson, he was so sweet and wore his heart on his sleeve. My heart broke for him with what he had gone through. A Pinch of salt made me swoon and fall in love with the characters, I can't wait to see what Bethany Lopez has in store for us next in this series.
Millie and her two sisters started their own catering company, Three Sisters Catering and since starting the business it has taken off and is doing very well! What they didn't always expect was to be working 80+ hours and to actually love it! Millie is in for a HUGE surprise when Jackson walks in and begs her to throw together a tea party for his to be 9 year old Kayla. Millie is unsure if she will have to time to pull off a full on tea party but is able to pull out all the perfect stops for Kayla's big day. But all she can think about is how hot Jackson is, and the chemistry they have between them. Except he is wearing a wedding band, and that is an automatic no for her. Millie doesn't want to date someone who is married. Not only are all three sisters more than willing to do whatever it takes to make their business work but they are expanding and it couldn't be a better time for them to do so!
Jackson walks into Three Sisters Catering and notices Millie from the beginning. She is stunningly beautiful and he has to convince her to throw his daughter a tea party for her 9th birthday, and its on Saturday. After speaking to Millie he cant stop thinking about her and how beautiful she is, and he gets to see her again for Kayla's party. After Jackson's wife just decided she didn't want to live that life anymore she packed up some of her stuff and left without another word and that was a year ago. Jackson is more than ready to move on but is worried about Kayla, because she is still hopefully her mother will come back any day now to pick up where she left off.
Millie and Jackson are perfect for each other even though not all circumstances make it easy for them to be together. Situations and other factors play a part in Millie and Jackson making this relationship work and for them to be happy
I absolutely loved this book! It was a 5 STAR read and I cant wait to read the second and third book slated for the series!!!
Disclaimer: I received this e-book from NetGalley, and Bethany Lopez in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much for early access! All opinions stated are my own and not influenced by the exchange.
Millie, her twin Dru, and their younger sister Tasha started their own catering business called Three Sister's Catering. Millie was the baker and normally stayed in the kitchen. One day as she was working alone, a man named Jackson came in to see if he could hire them to do a Birthday tea party for his daughter Kayla that is turning nine. They normally didn't do children's parties, but Millie was taken with Jackson and his good looks and agreed to do the party. Jackson's wife left him and his daughter a year ago to find herself. Millie is the first woman that he has been interested in.
This is such a sweet and good love story. Jackson is a high school English teacher that teaches an Advanced class in literature. He is so romantic and says the sweetest things to Millie. But all is not well as Kayla decides she doesn't like Millie. And Jackson has to find his wife to get a divorce. This is a wonderful love story that will make you feel good. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
A Pinch of Salt was my FIRST read by Bethany Lopez, and it was so CUTE. I wanted to read it as soon as I knew there was a single dad in it. Jackson and Millie were so SWEET and ADORABLE they almost made my tooth ache. ;) I loved the relationship between all of the sisters!! I'm SO EXCITED to read Tasha and Dru's stories!!!
A pinch of salt...a dash of that...We all know we have our own special preferences when it comes to ingredients...whether it be in food or our romantic tales. A little more heads up here is Jackson, the hero, and his nine year old daughter were abandoned by his wife a year ago. So, yeah, he’s been living in limbo not sure what to do about divorcing her because #1 He doesn’t know where she is #2 The hurt it will stir up/unleash upon their child. He does know his marriage is now on paper only, and he would never take her back. Divorce is inevitable. She’s the only woman he’s been intimate with and has been celibate since her without warning departure. He’s a good guy caught up in a bad, not sure how to handle it situation.
Millie is as awe struck with Jackson at first sight, as he is with her. They are like two missing pieces you come across while trying to complete an intricate puzzle. They just instantly click and feel right together. It was sweet how they slowly, casually started dating in order to get to know one another before the few graphic smexy time spent near the end.
Yeah, this quick read may have been mostly predictable, but I still enjoyed it. Mainly because I do like this author’s writing style. The groveling at the end had me raising my eyebrow a little. It was cute and sweet, but I’m not sure that particular audience was appropriate or the location itself overly feasible.
The next book will feature Tasha and a past college love interest she immaturely walked away from, who conveniently isn’t in her past anymore. I’m a little hesitant to put up with/accept such a knucklehead decision all those years ago. For me, there’s quite a difference between miscommunication and no communication when pulling up stakes and leaving a supposed love behind without explaining oneself. We’ll see. Since it currently is on Kindle Unlimited, I’ll likely give in to curiosity and give it a try.
Book three seems to have a desperate, last sister standing set-up with Dru drooling over a friend of a family member private investigator as her love interest. Again, we’ll see. If nothing else, I’ll blame this author’s addictive writing style as making me read it.
Romance Safety Gang:

Oh my swoon! A pinch of salt has got to be hands down the sweetest book I've read. I'm talking the ultimate feel good cheeks hurt from smiling Book.
Millie and her sisters started their own catering business that is quickly growing and expanding into even more, when Jackson comes in to beg for them to cater his daughter's birthday party at the last minute there's instant sparks between the two. I adored Jackson! He was a refreshing mix of being all man while still being sensitive and gentle. It was nice to have a break from the typical alpha male who is instantly in charge. His sweet, thoughtful way of loving Millie warmed my heart completely.
Millie herself was as sweet as all the cakes and cookies she baked. She had such a big heart and put everyone she loved ahead of herself. Millie and Jackson together were the sweetest couple I have ever read. While there were ups and downs caused by the turmoil from Jackson's ex wife and his daughter was struggling to deal with the changes the sweetness between them as a couple never faded. This is the kind of book you pick up after a bad day and end up with your day turned around and looking better than ever.
A Pinch of Salt, is my first book by Bethany Lopez. And I really loved it. It's sweet as sugar! It's well written and the characters are well developed.
Millie, a talented chef, has started a catering business with her twin sister Dru and her other sister Tasha. Millie is a sweet woman who's content with her life. But when Jackson, a high school English teacher, comes into the shop and ask if they could catering in his 8 year old daughter, Kayla's birthday party, instant sparks happens between Jackson and Millie. And they both understand they have been missing someone special in their life!
A Pinch of Salt is a sweet romance story, with real life struggles for Kayla. She struggles with her mother leaving and she doesn't like Millie!!
Highly recommend this book if your having a bad day. This story will turn your day around!
I thank the author for providing a copy to voluntarily review.
** Spoiler Free Review** I have a great recipe for a love story. Take a single dad, his name is Jackson then add a lady named Millie who owns her own catering company and add a little girl who's confused and slightly angry at her mother. Mix them all together and you will get a great story. I have to say my favorite scene in this book is when Jackson and Millie first meet. He's a nervous wreak and she's just a ray of sunshine. From the time they met I really was rooting for them. To think this love story happened all because of a tea party for a 9 year old..
OK, I’ll admit it. I’m late to the party that is Bethany Lopez. But now that I’m here, believe me I’ll be catching up. Pinch of Salt, Book 1 of the Three Sisters Catering, was my invitation and it was an amazing entry. I loved the whole premise of this series and this book was a marvelous start.
Millie has spent her time in the kitchen getting Three Sisters Catering going and is dedicated to both the business and her sisters. The business, honoring their Mother, is going really well. Then Jackson walks into their shop.
Jackson is desperate to throw the perfect birthday party for his daughter. Having survived the last year since his wife left both of them, his interest in Millie makes him realize that it’s time to move on.
Together, Millie and Jackson begin to explore the possibility of a relationship. Although there are some obstacles in their way, they want to make it. Ex-wives and children sometimes get in the way and sometimes you can overcome that and fall in love.
This is a wonderful book full of sweetness and truth. Ms. Lopez has given us a story that is true in the world we live in today. Her characters are so real. I cannot wait until the next installment in this series.
"Sometimes a pinch of salt is all you need to take something bland, and make it absolutely delicious"
I loved this modern day story between a single dad and a hardworking woman. Both are putting everything they have into making a go of it. For Jackson, it is making sure his daughter doesn't feel the hole too deeply from when her mother abandoned them. For Millie, it is making a go of the catering business she has created with her sisters. While their respective lives may be full and busy, when they meet they realize there is definitely room for more. I adored Jackson! He is not your super buff dominate BBF. According to him he has the upper body strength of a ten year old boy. I somewhat doubt that, but this was certainly part of his charm. I loved the "obsession" quirk given to Millie- it's details like these that make reading a story so enjoyable. This story flows from the pages and I devoured every word. My favorite scene is when Millie is reading from her paper in Jackson's class <3 <3 <3 Heart melting with a dash of humor. This is a great start what looks like will be a wonderful series.
A Pinch of Salt was a cute quick read I admit, but nothing special. I have a couple of unanswered questions buzzing in my head, though, I am not exactly driven to jump to the next book and find the answers... In other words, I was not emotionally invested.
The title really sparked my interest and was the main reason to why I started reading it. I didn't dive into the book with high expectations so I am happy and not necessarily disappointed. The plot was pleasant and borderline funny. Okay, I also have to put it out there that I really, really liked a handful of characters ( Jericho is definitely the first on the list) . The main characters weren't annoying -that's a compliment by the way- and many encounters made my heart flutter but to be frank, nothing stood out. It was pretty neutral. I could not detect any element that made it special.
Though, I would recommend this book for anyone in a hurry and searching for a cute quick read.
This was pretty cute. Very easy to read and the chapters were super short but it was a fun book. Can't wait to read what is in store for the other 2 sisters when their books come out.

A Pinch of Salt by Bethany Lopez “Sweet with a touch of salt, 4 stars”
Millie and her two sisters have been hard at work getting their business up and off the ground. So far they have been rich in business and love for each other, but their actual love lives have been lacking. Millie didn’t realize it until she met Jackson but she’s starting to get burnt out on always putting the business first. It’s time to hand over some responsibility, but that isn’t always a smooth sail. Jackson has had his hands full since his wife decided she didn’t want to be a mother anymore and walked out. He’s got a nine-year-old daughter who he’s trying to play both parent rolls to. When he sees Millie he’s ready to start putting his needs on the list. How will his daughter react to having another woman in the picture? Lopez was a new to me author, I had never read her before and I’m glad I took the chance on her. The title A Pinch of Salt totally peaked my curiosity. The couple were ridiculously sweet, and I loved them speaking literature to each other. They synced and it was great. I loved Millie’s sisters and can’t wait to get more of them as well. Here are a couple quotes from A Pinch of Salt that made me smile; “Sometimes a pinch of salt is all you need to take something bland, and make it absolutely delicious” “You’re the pinch of salt we needed to spice up our lives” Plot- 4/5 Characters- 4/5 Heat- 4/5 Writing style- 4/5 Overall- 4/5 **SBR Reviews**
This is a book about two hard working people. Millie is the baker for the catering business she owns with her 2 sisters and Jackson is a single dad to 9 year old Kayla. They meet when he convinces her to cater his daughter's 9th birthday party which is a tea party and he is out of his element. The instant attraction was there but Millie was skeptical for good reason as Jackson still wore his wedding ring. But you can see the chemistry and sparks from that first meeting. You can see what both initially attracted them to the other. Their story may have a few bumps in the road but I felt it was realistic with where they both were in their lives. Nothing felt rushed, it had a nice flow.
Bethany does a great job of not only developing the main characters in a book but the side ones as well. It makes you invested and ready to read the next book. In this case, what is really going on with Tasha and Jericho. I can't wait to find out! Ms. Lopez just sucks you into the world she creates and leaves you with a hangover when it is done. You want to live in the town, meet these people and become their best friend. Millie is someone everyone will love, she is sweet and caring and wants the best for everyone. Jackson isn't your typically hottie, I mean he is hot but he is just a normal guy, a high school English teacher at that. He says his strength is like a 10 year old. Sometimes you can't help but laugh at these two and their adorableness. This book is such a feel good book you will not put it down.
Who doesn't love a happy ending! Though I wasn't sure it was in the cards for these two. With the exception of the one bad guy (or should I say gal) in this story everyone is generally nice and polite to the other. Yes there are tantrums, but I'm talking about the are you kidding me type of evil. Good to know there are still stories out there where most people are good and treat each other kind. I hope you enjoy this fun and quirky story about three sisters!! And now a bit about the story...
Millie and her sisters are running a successful catering business with a small storefront. Jackson has been separated from his wife, who up and left him add their daughter to find herself, for a year. Now he has just days to plan the perfect 9 year old birthday tea party. Only one problem... he knows nothing about tea parties. Millie comes to the rescue and may end up growing more than her business!!
Favorite passages: - I was beginning to wonder what the hell was wrong with this guy. There had to be something. No one was this perfect. Maybe he picks his nose or bites his toenails . . . - “My daddy says, either you love someone or you don’t. I heard him in class one time, and he said the characters in his books spend so much time being ob-ob . . . What’s the word for dumb?” she asked. Mrs. Heeler and I both said, “Obtuse.”
