11 books25 followersPJ lived in Ferguslie Park, the setting for his debut novel, Small Fish Big Fish, (republished as Caught in the Long Grass) until he was fifteen. At twenty-one he went back to study full-time at Langside College, and from there to Glasgow University, graduating Bachelor of Science.
A regular on the Scottish Folk Club circuit, PJ played guitar and sang with his friends and cousins for pocket money. He lived in Paisley until, at the age of twenty-six, he met and married Sue, who convinced him to return with her to Australia, a move he has never regretted.
In 2014, PJ discovered a modest talent for writing and published Small Fish Big Fish: A Coming of Age Novel.
PJ's first love is Science Fiction, and he has written several books in this genre including the epic series, Prosperine: The Adventures of the Space Heroine Hickory Lace.
PJ lives with his wife, in Melbourne. They have two beautiful daughters, and three seriously cheeky grandchildren.

For a hundred years the Alien Corps has searched the galaxy for the Son of God. In the 22nd Century, an ancient prophesy reveals that a Messiah will appear on an alien planet at the end of days. The Alien Corps is formed to search the Galaxy for signs. A hundred years on, their quest is floundering... {0.5/prequel}
Book 1: Avanaux Commander Hickory Lace is sent to the planet Prosperine to investigate rumours of a miracle worker known as the Teacher. Before she can complete her mission, she discovers a plot by the non-aligned planets to seize Prosperine's priceless resources for faster-than-light travel. Hickory must find a way to stop the aliens and at the same time determine who the Teacher is.
Book 2: Rise of the Erlachi Six months after defeating the rebel alliance, Commander Hickory Lace and her team are back on the alien planet, Prosperine. The Sword of Connat-sèra-Haagar is missing and Hickory must find and return it to the temple in Avanaux. The quest takes Hickory to the rugged country of Erlach where she faces the fearsome Riv-Amok, then deep into the mountains where the rebel leader, Sequana, has overthrown the rightful king and is rallying the northern clans to war. Hickory must find a way to restore the king to his throne, and rescue the mysterious Teacher from Sequana’s dungeons. Only then can she hope to defeat Sequana and win back the Sword.
Book 3: The Scarf Commander Hickory Lace and her team are back. This time, their destination is the Scarf – a six hundred miles band of floating islands and reefs on the equator. The islands are covered with swamp and jungle and connected by a thick blanket of floating creepers and vines. Alarm bells are set ringing when a Bikashi jet is sighted in the area. The Agency fear that alien forces may be on a mission to retrieve the legendary sword of Connat-sèra-Haagar. In the hands of the Bikashi, it would pose a threat to the Agency's plans. But does the sword have another purpose? In this, the final episode of The Prosperine Trilogy, Hickory faces her greatest fear, discovers the secret to the planet's past, and unravels the mystery of the Teacher.

I thought I had the general "direction" of the storyline but was very pleasantly surprised to find out that I was wrong !!
The author deserves a nod of recognition and great respect for the whole story that he's created. Serious kudos to you sir !!! I generally don't like to leave reviews unless the book has that. ....... X factor for lack of a better way to describe it, you know when you read a book and it just grabs hold of you and drives your mind into the world that the author has created for us all. Well this whole story /storyline certainly grabbed hold of my imagination and it was brilliant !!.
The characters were great and very easy to connect with, the background, universe , alien's and our own planet's evolution were all very well done and you can easily believe that the author has had a little peek into the future to see how it all turns out ! Very Science Fiction and yet very believable 👍.
Seriously though I could point out this , that or the other part's that grabbed my attention but for someone else it could be another thing altogether so all I can say or suggest is that you take the time to get comfortable ( because you won't be putting this down until you finish it !! That's just a fact lol ) and dive into the wonderful adventure that's within the page's of this book ! Hmmm OK so this is an e-book and doesn't technically have page's but you know what I mean... for the newer generation of reader's I'm of course referring to the old school way to read book's and that's with an honest to goodness book made from paper and that will forever hold a special place in my heart despite my use of a kindle ( much easier than lugging around the new book's just released in hardback that weigh a ton and destroy any and all pockets you have much to my mother's frustration and then many year's later to my wife's annoyance as well 😁😁 )

I received a review of Prosperine and chose to provide this review. This collection of the three books in the Hickory Lace trilogy is quite the story. The story develops across two worlds and centers around three main characters whose mission is to investigate messianic claims on various worlds. These stories are action packed with plenty of science fiction concepts and ideas to satisfy most sci-fi fans. I can honestly say I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the fourth in this series.

Fast paced. Kept interest. Enjoyed reading.
I stayed up late nights, reading these books. Hard to put down. I liked the comrades between the three friends. I was disappointed at the end,it ended to abruptly. I like a little more closure at the end. Is the author going to due any further books in this series?
