I started this series with installment #3 because this is the type of series that allows you to do that. You can come and go with no confusion. I loved #3 which was themed perfectly for the holiday time in which I read it. Afterwards, I found the first two installments and quickly got started. Sleepless in Manhattan wasn't quite as enjoyable as #3 in my personal opinion, but it was a solid contemporary romance with surprising layers. The hero is plagued by a dysfunctional perception of relationships due to poor modeling on his parents' part. The heroine has been in significant medical treatment the majority of her life which caused her character to have some interesting complexities. This is a friends to lovers romance, but as you can see, it's not that simple. Given the complicated characters, I felt that they were still portrayed fairly superficially but I can recognize that this is not intended to be a literary fiction nor a boring case study. It's a steamy but humorous romance, so superficial is sometimes allowed and happily overlooked. I did very much enjoy Sleepless in Manhattan and am excited to continue on to #2...and yes, probably #3 (again :P).

5 - "Sometimes you just have to take that leap." Stars!
I think if I met Sarah Morgan, I’d give her a hug and thank her profusely for being a writer, while gibbering nonsensical words and phrases about how much I love her books. I’m still relatively a new reader of this authors work, but knowing she has over seventy published books, a large number of which I have still too read makes me a happy girl.
Sleepless in Manhattan grabbed me from the get-go, and it is the start of a series that I just know is going to get better with each and every book added. Paige, Eva and Frankie have been friends since childhood, and now live in a converted Brownstone together, with Paige’s brother Matt filling the last apartment.
"Magic happens in this city. It’s full of hope and possibilities."
One thing that shows this authors irrefutable skill as a writer is that fact that all three of these women have very diverse characteristics and differing personalities, and it is very clear that Paige is the organizer of the three, Eva the glass half full, romanticist, and Frankie the blunt and down to earth one of the group, but you can also feel the great love and depth of friendship they have for each other as well.
Jake Romano, is Matt’s best friend. He has been there for Paige through thick and thin, the rock she leant on when her health was suspect as a young woman, the man she fell in love with during the time they spent together, while he kept her company when she was stuck in a hospital bed. The love then wasn’t returned, and Paige has spent the intervening years trying to move on from the fact that she read the situation with Jake so wrong.
"I’m not your brother and I’m not your parents. You don’t have to do the happy act with me. I can cope with the truth."
But Paige wasn’t as wrong as she thought she was, and through the culmination of several big life changes that ensures they end up spending more time together and alone than normal, she finds that her feelings for Jake may not have been as one sided as she initially thought. This in itself brings about a whole new level of problems though, with him being her brothers best friend for one, and a total commitment-phobe sitting at the the top of the list.
"My new favorite hobby might be kissing off your lipstick."
I loved this book, I loved all the characters in it, the locations and the overall story arc between them all, and the focal story-line between Jake and Paige, was all that I wanted and expected it to be.
"When I’m with a woman, I’m with a woman. She is my starter, my main course and my dessert. There are no side dishes."
The author has set this series up extremely well, in that there is a huge amount of scope for the future books, and that you have three very different women all with their own personalities and ideals in regards to men and relationships.
"I’d take any risk to be with you."
Predictably perfect as usual, Sarah took me away, and put me in New York, with a group of women I’d want to be friends with, and several men I’d like to find myself in-between the sheets with! Frankie and Matt are due next with Sunset in Central Park due for release in July.

Oh dear. Aside from a few chapters in the middle that were truly unputdownable, Sleepless in Manhattan was actually more of a snooze than anything else. Primarily, Sarah Morgan’s prose and storytelling are haphazard and graceless. Also, the bare bones of the plot itself were just...asinine. This book reads like it was written by someone without any particular talent, just stringing together paragraphs through bullheaded determination alone. Which is admirable, but messy to read.
Not even kidding, the entire conflict could have been wrapped up in a few pages if only all of the characters had sat down for a 30 minute conversation about their feelings. (Which is amusing, since there was a lot of sitting around and talking in this book, just all of the talk was pointless.)
Don’t believe me? Here’s what up.
Paige fell in love with Jake as a teenager. Jake reciprocated, but had promised Paige’s overprotective older brother to “stay away” from her. So he turns her down and she’s humiliated. Now everyone’s 30-ish. The only thing stopping Paige and Jake from being together is that Jake made that promise and Paige believes Jake’s rejection of her was genuine.
Mmmkay.
Pretending that we’re all grownups, this could be solved very quickly. I’ll demonstrate. Ready?

But oh no, Sarah Morgan had to take 400 pages of my valuable time to solve problems that shouldn’t have existed in the first place. I can’t. I just can’t.
I understand that the whole “forbidden” sibling of a best friend trope is not my thing in general, but it comes across as so ridiculous in this book especially. The reason Paige is off-limits to Jake is because he’s a Bad Boy who doesn’t believe in love. Because after his mother abandoned him when he was six he doesn’t believe that love is real. (Never mind that he’s had healthy parental relationships modeled in his life ever since then. This is Romancelandia and things never make sense.) That’s just...a really stupid, overblown obstacle that’s just tossed into the plot willy-nilly. It doesn’t even hold up under logical examination. None of this book does.
It’s all just so boring and tedious. For instance, literally nothing happens in the first 100 pages of Sleepless in Manhattan. Paige and her 2 best friends lose their jobs and they spend a long time talking about it. That’s all. The author does this thing where she starts a scene, then meanders around explaining a bunch of random shit that is only tangentially related, before she finally arrives back to the topic at hand. Any given scene is thusly expanded to two or three times its necessary length because of all the pointless crap.
For instance, I don’t need to know that complete backstories of Paige’s friends because they each have their own novel that’s just going to repeat all that information later. I also don’t need to be continually teased by the ~mysterious~ circumstances regarding some person named Matilda who doesn’t play any part in this story at all, except that she’s the protagonist of the series’ novella, Midnight at Tiffany's .
Now, I understand that this is a romance that offers more than a basic “hero + heroine + drama + sex = HEA” plot, but Morgan wanders around so much that by the time she actually focuses on anything (either big picture or in an individual scene), I’ve already forgotten what’s going on and why I should care. Nobody needs to read 40 pages of people talking about how sad it is they’ve lost their job. And a declaration of love should be a page, not an entire chapter. It’s ridiculous. Sleepless in Manhattan rambles, and it makes a huge production of every single detail, no matter how trivial. In real life, this story wouldn’t be worth 400 pages; I don’t see why it should merit that length in fiction either.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm very much looking forward to the others in the series. I thought it was an easy, fun, romance book. I found myself flying through the book! Highly recommend picking it up if you enjoy adult romance novels!

This adorable love story had me completely captivated by all the interesting characters! However, I must admit, the length of the book gave me pause. Sometimes, the extensive inner monologues and conflicts felt a bit too drawn out, almost like they were just filling space.

I adored this book.
There's just something about Sarah Morgan's characters especially her heroines that endear them to me. And Paige is no exception.
Paige life was been a series of hospital visits and spending her life under the watchful eye of her parents, brother and Puffin Island. She made a move to New York to become an events planner and live her life to fullest.
Jake Romano is Paige's older brother's best friend. He came into her life when she was at her lowest and they forged a friendship. Paige is harboring a crush on Jake that ended on heartbreak. When Paige and her friends got fired from their job, Jake agreed to help them set up their own events business. This brought back old feelings from Paige. Not wanting to get rejected again, Paige tried to guard her heart especially since Jake doesn't seem to be willing to fully trust his feelings for her.
Jake has some serious issues in this book. He's broody and tortured as all get out. In other words, he's irresistible. Paige doesn't stand a chance.
I enjoyed the evolution of their relationship starting from when a very young Paige met Jake and then later on as adults. The attraction between Jake and Paige sizzled within the pages of this book, and Sarah Morgan did a phenomenal job of writing those sizzling sexy times.
I also enjoyed the seamless introduction to other possible pairing in the upcoming books featuring Paige's two best friends. I definitely want to read more about them. Also, I love the female friendship in this book. They remind me a bit of Nancy Drew and her two cousins, Bess and George, which is odd. I can't wait to read their books.
Sleepless in Manhattan is typical Sarah Morgan, which is fantastic. Great dialogue, great characters and excellent romance.

Sleepless In Manhattan era una novela que me intrigaba mucho, no tanto por la historia en si ( ya que por la sinopsis no parecia nada del otro mundo ) sino porque hace muchos años lei varias historias Harlequin escritas por esta autora y aun recuerdo lo mucho que me gustaron.
La historia de Jake y Paige no es de esas que te atrapan desde un primer momento, sino que te va cautivando poco a poco y cuando te das cuenta, eres totalmente adicta a ella, o al menos a mi me sucedio asi.
Esta primera parte me gusto mas de lo que esperaba, inicie la lectura esperando encontrar un libro sencillo y entretenido pero la realidad es que encontre mucho mas entre las paginas de Sleepless In Manhattan, realmente este grupo de amigos consigue ganarse tu cariño y dejarte lo suficiente curiosa como para continuar leyendo las siguientes partes, las cuales narraran las historias de Eva y Frankie.
En conclusion, una lectura muy recomendable si quieres leer un libro romantico y ameno que te mantenga distraida. Lo que cuenta no es novedoso o impredecible pero es un placer leerla y honestamente la pluma de Sarah Morgan me resulto tan buena en esta ocasion como hace varios años.

Romantic comedies! Who doesn’t love ‘Sleepless in Seattle’, or ‘When Harry Met Sally’?
This cute contemporary romance pays homage to the classics, while introducing us to a new series centered around best friends trying to start their own business in Manhattan.
This story places the spotlight on Paige, a vibrant young woman who survived a childhood riddled with illness and long hospital stays, due to a heart problem. Her condition caused her family to over protect her, especially her brother, Matt.
When Matt realizes Paige has a teenage crush on his best friend, Jake, he forbids Jake to act on it, so Paige makes the first move, with disastrous results.
Now, Paige is a confident career woman determined to make her own way without Matt or her parents, but she has never gotten over Jake, even though they constantly bicker and he goads her at every turn. But, when she loses her job, and decides to start her own business, Jake is the perfect person to ask for advice. so pushing her pride aside, Paige goes to Jake for help. Can she keep it on a professional level or will she finally seduce the man who has held her heart all this time?
Jake has done everything in his power to keep Paige at arm’s length, from breaking her teenage heart, to picking fights with her, but when she comes to him for help with her business, he finds his resolve melting away. But what about his promise to Matt?
I loved the quips that began each chapter and thought the idea of incorporating favorite romantic comedies into the story was a nice touch.
I don’t have a brother, but I know there is an unspoken rule about hitting on your best friend’s sister. This rule can cause a lot of heartache when a person has to give up the love of their life for the sake of their friendship.
In this case, Jake is not just trying to keep a promise to his best friend, he is also avoiding love at all cost, which is something he feels Paige deserves, so he tries to keep her at arm’s length. But is Jake’s nobility really a cloak for his own fear and cowardice?
The story has a lot of promise, but there were a few issues, such as the slow pacing, and lack of emotional connection between Jake and Paige. The story sagged a little here and there, and lost momentum a time or two, and with both characters working so hard to keep things fun and light without using any language suggesting commitment or love, it sucked the chemistry out of the relationship and failed to evoke any emotions from me. The conflict was flat and Jake’s reasoning, stemming from his mommy issues didn’t seem convincing to me.
His attitude improves a little as the story progresses, but his refusal to admit his love for Paige, even in his own mind or heart, kept me from warming up to him.
But, in true romantic comedy tradition, Jake redeems himself, which made it all worthwhile in the end.
This is a cute ode to romantic comedies, with some fun banter between friends, and a long overdue happy ever after, which is good enough for me.

WOW ........ just WOW!!! What an incredible read! There is a reason Sarah Morgan is one of my top 5 authors. She can weave a storyline like few others. I simply devour her books and then yearn for more. If you are looking for an exceptional romance with incredably engaging and unforgettable characters, "Sleepless in Manhattan" is the book for you.

I have been reading Sarah Morgan’s books for sometime now so her books are on my must have list as soon as they come out.
This series is about Paige and her two best friends Eva and Frankie as well as Paige’s brother Matt and his best friend Jake. They all have know each other since they were little and now live in New York City. This story features Jake and Paige and their love-hate relationship.
Jake has been trying to avoid his attraction to Paige for years. Her brother is his best friend and made him promise years ago to never lay a hand on her. Because of this and the way his birth mother treated him he has become known for not falling in love with anyone.
Paige and her friends were just let go from their event planning company. With the help of Jake they start their own company. It isn’t going so well at first so Jake has them throw an important party for his company. Now Paige and Jake have to spend more time together. In doing so they find it hard to fight the attraction they feel for each other.
Sleepless in Manhattan is the first book in the From Manhattan with Love trilogy. I can already tell you that this set of books will makes for some wonderful summer reading this year!

Schlechte Idee gewesen, das Buch direkt nach "A Court of Mist and Fury" zu beenden. Alles war lahm und schnulzig und hat mich nicht interessiert. Und die ganze Story an sich fand ich nicht schön, so wie Sarah Morgans andere Bücher. Das Setting ist einfach nicht mein Fall gewesen.

Ik heb zo genoten van dit boek!
Eva, Frankie en Paige beginnen hun eigen bedrijfje en dat vond ik een hele stoere zet. Leuke meiden ook, vooral hun onderlinge relatie is geweldig.
En dan Jake. Tja, wat moet ik over hem nu weer zeggen. Ik kon hem op het begin niet zo goed peilen en eigenlijk bleef dat een beetje zo. Maar Jake leer je ook kennen door de mensen om hem heen, waardoor hij toch niet een groot mysterie bleef.
Dit verhaal was een tikkeltje voorspelbaar, maar ik vond het heel vermakelijk. Op naar deel 2!

Toujours aussi faaaaaaan de Sarah Morgan. J’ai adoré l’ambiance, j’ai adoré Paige et Jake, même si j’ai trouvé la fin un chouïa rapide. Ça reste un presque coup de cœur et j’enchaîne direct avec un autre roman de la série Coup de foudre à Manhattan.

Sleepless in Manhattan was definitely a cute book. There was just something about Paige and Jake that put a smile on my face. Even if Paige could be annoying at times and if Jake was really hesitant about things. They were still pretty cute and all kinds of adorable.
Besides them, I really enjoyed getting to know Eva and Frankie - the best friends of Paige. They were equally hilarious and complete opposites of one another. Definitely two people you want to be friends with in my opinion. Paige is definitely winning in the best friends department.
In the end, the ending was actually a really nice surprise. I wasn't expecting it to happen in book 1.. maybe book 2? So I definitely enjoyed that little engagement. I'm intrigued enough to see if I can get my hands on the next book just to get more cuteness. Especially since we get to dive into Frankie's little love life and I'm seriously freaking out because I want her and Matt to be together.

SLEEPLESS IN MANHATTAN has got to be the best feel good story I have read in a long time. Paige, Frankie, and Eva have been best friends since they were young. They all work at the same event planning company and one day out of the blue, they are all fired. It's not bad enough that they are unemployed and have to find new jobs, but where are they going to find a job where all three of them can be together. There is nothing out there.
They come up with an idea to start their own company. After going through some names, and some of them are laugh out loud funny, they come up with Urban Genie. Against everything that she is, Paige goes to Jake for advice. Now Jake is the man who Paige has been in love with for years but he is also Paige's brothers best friend. Oh yeah, you know how well this is going to go. Jake has a reputation for being a player, love them and leave them. Will Jake ever be able to let go of the past and give Paige the love and commitment she needs and deserves?
I have never read Sarah Morgan before but after reading SLEEPLESS IN MANHATTAN I know I will be reading everything by her that I can get my hands on. Paige hooked me from the very first page. She has had to deal with so much in her life including Jake being a jerk to her. She has spent so much of her life in the hospital because of heart problems. Back then, Jake would sit for her for hours just talking to her and watching over her. How could she not fall in love with a man willing to do that for her? He rejected her when she let her feelings be known and now she is guarding her heart. We all know how that goes right? The heart always wants what the heart can't have.
The relationship that Paige and her friends has is perfect and they all compliment one another. They are always there for each other. They genuinely care and love each other. That is a special thing and I'm so glad that no man comes between them. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series to learn more about Paige and her friends. Not to mention, seeing where Sarah Morgan goes with Paige and Jake's story line. SLEEPLESS IN MANHATTAN has it all, romance, great dialogue, and awesome characters.

Overall: This is a surprise that I didn't add it to my DNF shelf. I even had the feeling that it wouldn't work for be when I was downloading the full version after the sample, but I oddly wanted to continue on. It had too much inner dialogue (or whatever that is called when it is 3rd person narrative), I didn't like the h, and the miscommunication was super annoying. I can't really blame anything but myself because I should've trusted my gut! I can see others liking this but it really wasn't my kind of book after all.
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Paige and Jake's story. Paige gets laid off instead of getting a promotion like she had thought, and she decides to star her own event planning business with her 2 best friends. Her best friend group also include her older brother and his best friend Jake, who she was rejected by when she nakedly confessed her love to him when she was younger. She still holds some feelings for Jake, and lots of embarrassment, so she is reluctant to get his help when they desperately need it. There is a good bit of back and forth, some mild tension and some sexy times, and some baggage they have to work through...and they get a HFN ending.
Point Of View (POV): This alternated between focusing mainly on Paige and Jake in 3rd person narrative.
Overall Pace of Story: Alright. It felt slow at times, but maybe that was because I wasn't all that engaged.
Instalove: No, but feelings were already there when the story begins.
H (Hero) rating: 3 stars. Jake. He had his hang ups but he never denied that they were there so I can kind of appreciate that.
h (heroine) rating: 2 stars. Paige. I ended up really struggling with her. She was supposed to be so strong but she . I also didn't like how she didn't communicate.
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed (for me, but that is because I was too busy cringing)

I am a sucker for a good romance novel, and this one is perfect for me.
Our heroine, Paige, has met -- in fact exceeded -- all of the goals set for her at an events planning company, and she's ready to tackle her promised promotion. Except instead of getting promoted, she's laid off, along with her two closest friends.
When Paige's brother's best friend Jake -- who was also Paige's first serious crush -- offers her a chance to start her own events planning business, she jumps at the chance. But how can she stay focused on planning the event of the year when sparks are igniting with Jake? And what if he doesn't feel the same way?
Like I said, I love a good romance!

At 18, Paige got naked and declared her love for Jake. She was coming off some heart surgery, it was a really big deal, he’d been there for her, and she thought they’d made a real connection. He very gently told her he wasn’t interested.
It was such a lie.
Now 28, Paige’s two biggest life lessons from the experience were: stay cheerful so your family don’t overreact, and don’t trust your instincts about men and their potential feels. She’s still in love with Jake. She sees him regularly, and she loves him even though he keeps his distance and treats her to mild snark.
This book is the first of three romances about three best friends from Puffin Island (setting for another Morgan series) who are making it big in New York. Paige, Frankie and Eva are fired from their jobs at an events planning company. There is a novella-length set up (Midnight at Tiffany’s) that acts as a prequel to the firing, but since I read it after this one, you don’t really need it to work out what’s going on. Paige, with the support of her brother, and (more reluctantly) Jake, sets up her own events planning and concierge company, and employs Paige and Eva to work with her.
The firing is perhaps the oddest detail in the book. It works great as a call to action, but some of the focus is on Cynthia, the horrible boss doing the firing, and she reads more as a villain than as an antagonist. Given this is a series, it might be that Morgan is planning to use her as a villain in a later book.
There is a lot of set up in this book. There’s a lot of referencing back to Matilda (the prequel heroine). It doesn’t detract, but it does work to emphasise that the important and wonderful relationship in this series is the one between the three women. I loved it. Each of them are individual characters, they are supporting and loving toward each other, and it’s all balanced so none of them are cheerleader yes-girls, and neither Eva or Frankie usurp Paige’s starring role.
Paige is a wonderful heroine – she’s smart, a planner, focussed on her business, a loving friend, and someone who cares about the happiness and security of the people she’s close to. I liked that she didn’t snap her fingers and have immediate success, and I loved all the notes that were hit on women in the workplace: getting over that first confidence hurdle that she’s good enough to do this, the ongoing concern for those she’s bringing along on her crazy scheme, her initial refusal to accept any help, in the belief that you have to do it all alone rather than rely on those who will be your biggest assets, simply because they are friends/relatives.
It’s not quite the same, but Morgan’s ‘Doukakis’ Apprentice’ is another great read for how women can do work and be innovative and interesting without feeling they are compromising their femininity or fitting a mould that doesn’t suit.
This is a romance, so while the work and the business is an important part of the plot, it doesn’t overshadow the friends to lovers relationship between Jake and Paige.
Jake has the fairly typical hero commitment character flaw. He’s holding back because he loves Paige and wants to protect her, but his mother left him so he knows relationships don’t last, and it’s ultimately better to leave before it all falls apart. He’s also promised his best friend (Paige’s brother) that he’ll stay away from her. The chemistry between Paige and Jake is strong, and it’s both beautiful and frustrating to watch Jake battle his attraction for Paige, his overwhelming need to protect her, and the depth of his own feelings.
While the set-up isn’t out of the ordinary, what elevates Jake over typical heroes is Morgan’s light touch in revealing his background. She presents the worst moment in his life without melodrama, with very simple detail, but with enough that you experience what this must have been like, and why it scarred him. Jake’s been lucky – he gets a second chance at a childhood with an adoptive family and a lot of love, but that incident from his childhood still weighs heavily on him. And I like the way Morgan didn’t resolve everything for him, after that inevitable point where he hurts Paige and pushes her away.
New York roof gardens are the other fantastic character in this book. And I want to complain that I’ve only been in one Manhattan roof garden, and I want to complain about that sincerely, because I need to visit more Manhattan roof gardens, and I refuse to feel guilty that I’m expressing this as ‘need more’ rather than ‘grateful to have experienced one.’
The romance between Paige and Jake was beautiful and made me cry. The friendship between the three women was beautiful too, and I wanted to read all the books now, and had a further sulk that the third one isn’t out on Kindle in Australia for another few months (travesty!). This book was so very welcome after a couple of recent bad/indifferent books, but then I knew it would be. Sarah Morgan is one of my reserve authors, for when I know I need something really good, right now.
It was such a lie.
Now 28, Paige’s two biggest life lessons from the experience were: stay cheerful so your family don’t overreact, and don’t trust your instincts about men and their potential feels. She’s still in love with Jake. She sees him regularly, and she loves him even though he keeps his distance and treats her to mild snark.
This book is the first of three romances about three best friends from Puffin Island (setting for another Morgan series) who are making it big in New York. Paige, Frankie and Eva are fired from their jobs at an events planning company. There is a novella-length set up (Midnight at Tiffany’s) that acts as a prequel to the firing, but since I read it after this one, you don’t really need it to work out what’s going on. Paige, with the support of her brother, and (more reluctantly) Jake, sets up her own events planning and concierge company, and employs Paige and Eva to work with her.
The firing is perhaps the oddest detail in the book. It works great as a call to action, but some of the focus is on Cynthia, the horrible boss doing the firing, and she reads more as a villain than as an antagonist. Given this is a series, it might be that Morgan is planning to use her as a villain in a later book.
There is a lot of set up in this book. There’s a lot of referencing back to Matilda (the prequel heroine). It doesn’t detract, but it does work to emphasise that the important and wonderful relationship in this series is the one between the three women. I loved it. Each of them are individual characters, they are supporting and loving toward each other, and it’s all balanced so none of them are cheerleader yes-girls, and neither Eva or Frankie usurp Paige’s starring role.
Paige is a wonderful heroine – she’s smart, a planner, focussed on her business, a loving friend, and someone who cares about the happiness and security of the people she’s close to. I liked that she didn’t snap her fingers and have immediate success, and I loved all the notes that were hit on women in the workplace: getting over that first confidence hurdle that she’s good enough to do this, the ongoing concern for those she’s bringing along on her crazy scheme, her initial refusal to accept any help, in the belief that you have to do it all alone rather than rely on those who will be your biggest assets, simply because they are friends/relatives.
It’s not quite the same, but Morgan’s ‘Doukakis’ Apprentice’ is another great read for how women can do work and be innovative and interesting without feeling they are compromising their femininity or fitting a mould that doesn’t suit.
This is a romance, so while the work and the business is an important part of the plot, it doesn’t overshadow the friends to lovers relationship between Jake and Paige.
Jake has the fairly typical hero commitment character flaw. He’s holding back because he loves Paige and wants to protect her, but his mother left him so he knows relationships don’t last, and it’s ultimately better to leave before it all falls apart. He’s also promised his best friend (Paige’s brother) that he’ll stay away from her. The chemistry between Paige and Jake is strong, and it’s both beautiful and frustrating to watch Jake battle his attraction for Paige, his overwhelming need to protect her, and the depth of his own feelings.
While the set-up isn’t out of the ordinary, what elevates Jake over typical heroes is Morgan’s light touch in revealing his background. She presents the worst moment in his life without melodrama, with very simple detail, but with enough that you experience what this must have been like, and why it scarred him. Jake’s been lucky – he gets a second chance at a childhood with an adoptive family and a lot of love, but that incident from his childhood still weighs heavily on him. And I like the way Morgan didn’t resolve everything for him, after that inevitable point where he hurts Paige and pushes her away.

This book was hilarious. And by that I mean hilariously bad. Giving it an extra star for the sheer entertainment value of how bad the New York was in this. Full review to follow when I'm not on the app.

I think I may have developed a bit of an author-crush on Sarah Morgan. Sleepless in Manhattan is the first book I've read from her and I've already been on a one-click shopping spree.
Centralising around a group of friends living in New York, Sleepless in Manhattan introduces us to Paige, Frankie and Eva; childhood friends and are now living with Paige's brother, Matt in his Brooklyn brownstone. And these ladies quickly pull you into their fold, stamping the pages with personality--Eva being the romantic dreamer, Frankie the sarcastic, dry, disbeliever in love and and Paige the realist and organiser of the three.
"Paige Walker wasn’t little. She was all grown-up. And his feelings toward her were far from brotherly."
And then there's Jake, playboy, successful entrepreneur, Matt's best-friend and the guy who was there for Paige whilst she went through some pretty life-changing health problems growing up. The time they spent together led to Paige falling in love with him, he didn't reciprocate and Paige has spent the subsequent years questioning how she could have got it so wrong. Something it appears may not be the case when Jake begrudgingly agrees to help Paige and the girls with their fledgling events business.
I absolutely loved every element of this story--novels like this are one of the reasons I first visited New York and I was transported back to all the places that make it one of my favourite cities. Combine this with a fabulous cast of characters and a wonderful romantic journey for Paige and Jake and you have a book that was the perfect read. Not that I'm one to wish time away, but I can't wait for Frankie and Eva's stories.
And if it needed to be cemented that Sarah Morgan is now an auto-read author for me, Midnight at Tiffany's did it. This is the perfect accompanying novella to Sleepless in Manhattan, giving us Matilda and Chase's story and it may be fairly short but it crams in the romance, the sexy-time and they're another couple to fall in love with.

¡Lo que me hizo suspirar de amor en cada página Jake Romano! Mejor ni les cuento, quien para mí está representado en Channing Tatum😍así que… Éste hombre ME ENLOQUECIÓ con cada gesto, cada movimiento (esos músculos) diálogo y mirada hacia Paige Walker, nuestra protagonista.
Noches de Manhattan es el primer libro de la serie “De Manhattan con amor”, que va más allá del romance, sino que también habla de la amistad y de las ganas de vivir, que sigue la vida de diferentes protagonistas, en éste caso, Jake y Paige con los cuales he disfrutado un montón. Me trajo recuerdos de Sex and the city (libro que NO leí todavía) pero sí vi la serie, solo que Sarah Morgan escribe con ese talento de comedia romántica, narrada como si fuese una película porque todo es muy visual y la descripción que hace de Nueva York en invierno es casi palpable.
La prosa de ésta autora te envuelve en el ritmo de vida de los neoyorquinos, la lectora de romántica cuando leé esta historia se sentirá parte del estilo de vida cosmopolita que se vive en la ciudad que nunca duerme, con sus calles ajetreadas, paisajes nocturnos donde las luces se lucen, el mundo de los negocios, edificios con vistas y la vida que existe allí. Cuando digo que no es sólo una historia de amor, me refiero a que hace énfasis en la amistad, no solo entre Jake y Paige que sí, estamos ante el cliché de “enamorada del mejor amigo de mi hermano mayor quien me sobreprotege y no debe enterarse sino el pobre novio puede ser castrado”, sino también entre Paige y sus dos amigas: Eva y Frankie, tres chicas muy cosmopolitas, que me recordaron a Carrie y sus amigas, y que deben enfrentarse al desafío que jamás pensaron que les tocaría vivir: Ser despedidas, quedarse sin trabajo allí en Nueva York donde Paige soñó siempre vivir, una ciudad donde no quería destacar, donde no quería ser distinta o especial; No quería ser un modelo de valentía para nadie. Quería ser anónima. Normal, fuera lo que fuera eso. Y ahí en Nueva York por fin lo había logrado. El caos urbano le ofrecía su propia clase de privacidad. Todo se movía más deprisa. ¿Por qué cuento todo esto? Porque Paige es, al igual que sus dos amigas, una organizadora de eventos, que pasó su infancia viviendo en un pueblo pequeño, Puffin Island; Ella es “una chica de un pueblo viviendo en esta ciudad alucinante y me siento la persona más afortunada del mundo. Sé que suena a locura, pero muchas veces pensé que esto no podría pasar. Que solo sería un sueño.”
Y logra cumplir su sueño, luego de que tras nacer con una enfermedad coronaria, su infancia se había basado en visitas al hospital, médicos y unos padres cariñosos que se habían esforzado por ocultar sus preocupaciones e inquietudes. Según crecía, se había sentido despojada de sus derechos y el día que había salido del hospital, después de la que todo el mundo esperaba que fuera su última operación, se había jurado que eso iba a cambiar. Afortunadamente, exceptuando los ocasionales chequeos, ahora estaba bien y se había liberado de constantes intervenciones médicas. Sabía que había tenido suerte y por ello estaba decidida a aprovechar al máximo cada día. El único modo de hacerlo había sido salir de Puffin Island, y eso era lo que había hecho.
Tenía una vida completamente nueva y las cosas le iban bien, hasta que “Eventos Estrellas” la despide del trabajo que amaba, no solo porque tiene que organizar momentos especiales para otras personas, sino porque ama trabajar con sus dos mejores amigas y con quienes vive en una bonita casa en Brooklyn.
Es por ello que tiene que enfrentarse a su mayor reto: Trabajar por su cuenta mientras ve parte de sus sueños desmoronarse.
Simpaticé con Paige, sobre todo al momento en que su hermano y Jake le aconsejaban frases como “El éxito no te enseña nada, pero el fracaso te enseña a ser resiliente. Te enseña a levantarte y a volver a intentarlo,” que pueden sonar trilladas pero cuando el mundo se te desmorona te das cuenta que uno no puede manejar el futuro. Y eso le pasa a Paige: Tiene que levantarse después de la caída porque es una mujer valiente y emprendedora. Y es todo un reto para ella ser su propia jefa ante una ciudad llena de oportunidades pero también de mucha competencia laboral, toda una encrucijada a la que hacer frente, pero no sola, sino con sus amigas para tener su propia empresa de Organización de eventos. Sin embargo, no se siente preparada para ello, así que Jake Romano la reta a que cumpla su sueño y lo emprenda aún sin experiencia laboral. Jake es el mejor amigo de Matt, por el que siente una extraña lealtad hacia éste que afecta a su relación con Paige porque es su hermano y, le influye en su manera de relacionarse con el resto de mujeres con las que sale.
Jake es mujeriego, arrogante, sarcástico, que tuvo que luchar desde muy abajo para ser EL HOMBRE de negocios, el amante más solicitado de Nueva York, trabaja como consultor de ciberseguridad al más alto nivel, un hombre muy inteligente, pero el único lugar donde no aplica la palabra «seriedad» es en sus relaciones, porque Jake Romano es un hombre que rompe las reglas marcadas por otros, pero nunca las que marcaba él mismo, y el primer puesto de su lista lo ocupa la norma de «No te lleves tu vida privada al trabajo». Jamás haría nada que pudiera poner en peligro su negocio. Significaba demasiado para él. Y, de todos modos, por muy genio que fuera con los ordenadores, era el primero en admitir que sus habilidades no se extendían a las relaciones. Jake Romano es testosterona vestida de esmoquin, que se mimetiza con el ambiente como tantas otras personas en la fiesta; él destaca por encima de todos.
Entre Paige y Jake siempre hay discusiones delante de Matt, de Eva y Frankie por algo que ocurrió cuando ella tenía dieciséis años, la cual a ojos de él, a base de esforzarse mucho, la ve únicamente como la hermana pequeña de su mejor amigo. “Hermana pequeña. Pequeña. Pequeña”, repite esta palabra lo suficiente, para que al final su cerebro acabara creyéndolo, cosa que no sucede porque la guerra entre ambos llega a un punto en que deben buscar una solución al respecto. Y es Paige quien da el paso, sabiendo que Jake no quiere “una relación de amor seria” por el pasado de su madre biológica, así y todo la energía que brota cuando ambos están cerca “saltan tantas chispas que parecen los fuegos artificiales del Cuatro de Julio”🤣. La química es inevitable porque están hechos para amarse. ¿Qué pasará cuando Matt se entere? Lean la historia.
Matt es muy sobreprotector con su hermana, a la que Paige tendrá que hacer frente aunque duela enojarse con su hermano; a su vez éste va cociendo a fuego lento su relación con Frankie: “Matt necesitaba, y esperaba, confiar en una relación. Frankie no confiaba en nadie. Era la primera en admitir que en lo que respectaba a las relaciones era demasiado desconfiada.” No veo la hora de leer la historia de amor de éstos dos que corresponde al libro dos.
En fin, como verán AMÉ esta historia desde el comienzo no solo por el tema del romance que está muy bien llevado sino por la preciosa amistad que existe entre Paige, Eva y Frankie, pues son tres personajes hermosamente creados, que se complementan de formas increíbles: Son tres amigas que no tienen secretos entre ellas y se apoyan las unas a las otras.

Esta novela es más dura y personal que la segunda de la saga (sí, las leí al revés por error), pero sin duda es una fantástica historia de amor.
Me hubiera gustado más algo más de frikismo tecnológico, pero ha sido muy bonita y divertida.
