The Boudreaux Series—Sexy. Intriguing. Easy.
Sometimes the past is better left behind you…
Lena Turner has spent her life as the outsider. Thanks to her extraordinary gifts, she’s learned to be independent—especially when it comes to men. She’s content to live her life in New Orleans as a schoolteacher, dating casually and dedicated to her small family. Long term is not part of her plan.
Sometimes the past catches up with you…
Leaving Lena behind to pursue his career was the most difficult thing Mason Coulter ever did. He told himself that it was for the best, had even convinced himself that he had only Lena’s best interests in mind. But now, after six long years, he’s back in New Orleans to settle his late eccentric aunt’s estate. All he has to do is get in and out of the city without submitting to the need to see Lena. But to Mason’s dismay, his aunt made other plans.
And sometimes the future and the past collide…
Having Mason walk back into her life is something Lena never saw coming. She could refuse to help him, but she’s never been good at telling Mason no. So she’ll do what she can to get the estate settled and Mason out of her life for good.
At least, that’s the plan. But Mason has plans of his own…

This one was just OK for me. I enjoy this author's writing, and I found the adventure part interesting, and I think this would have been a better book had it been longer and the relationship more fleshed out.

That said I could not stand the hero. The reason he left her without a word six years prior was incredibly immature and LAME. Then he shows back up only because he HAS to not because he was remotely interested in getting her back and offers up some half-ass apology. And what does she do? She falls back into bed with him right away. Where is your self-respect woman??

I am probably in the minority, but I was cheering her on when she

What a delicious SURPRISE story Kristen Proby gave us!

Easy Fortune is a sweet, sexy and super fast paced adventure. Not kidding, this novella really tells us the adventure Leah and Mason go through, a imposed adventure, but a exciting journey nonetheless. ;)

Leah, that we first met on Easy Magic as Mallory’s best friend, never expected Mason, the man that caused her the biggest heartbreak of her life six years prior, to come back to her life. Even less when the reason for his comeback is revealed, and it’s evident that his return isn’t exactly by his own resolution. But just when they think this imposed adventure and reunion may be the perfect way for them to have some closure, let’s just say fortune – and Mason’s aunt – had plans of their own! LOL

“You smell like you want me inside you.”
“Because I do,” she murmurs.
“Soon.” I lick the outer lips of her pussy and grin when she moans. “First, I get to learn you all over again.”
“You’re going to kill me.”
“But what a way to go.”

Mason and Leah’s second chance story was the perfect complement for this favorite series of mine! I can never get enough of the Boudreaux, even if indirectly, though it was great to see Mallory again. I really wish we got a bit more sight into their happy ending, with an epilogue, but as per KP’s usual, I’m hoping we will get one more glimpse of them in the next book. Easy Fortune really is the perfect tale to devour in a couple of hours, thanks to Kristen’s delicious and amazing writing, and the perfect way to sweeten our appetite for what’s to come. Savannah and Ben are almost here!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

“There are a million reasons that I love you, and I plan to spend the rest of my life listing all of them for you.”

3.5 - "Just call me, Indie" Stars!

This was a 4-5 star read for me, right up to the last couple of chapters. This is a really novella so the author had to get things moving really quickly, luckily the second-chance reconnection, gave the pair a ready-made background so there wasn’t a huge need for the author to go into a massive amount of detail.

"You don’t owe me anything…"

But it all went downhill a tad, when it came to the conflict towards the end, and I literally wanted to throat punch Lena for the way she behaved towards Mason.

I still love this series though, and am going to pretend Easy Fortune ended how I wanted it to, rather than how the author chose too! The end of June cannot come fast enough for me, Savannah and Ben are up next in Easy Nights, I think it’s safe to say this is the story most of us have been waiting for since the introduction of the two of them.

Easy Fortune is a novella. Not much to expect from novella. Insta everything. Miss Proby only gives enough back ground story for Mason and Lena. They had romantic relationship in the past then they seperate.

Easy Fortune is their second chance romance story. There is not much to review since the book is a short novella.

We met Lena in Easy Magic and this is her adventure and a second chance with the man who disappeared from her life years ago.

Mason in an Archeologist so he travels with his work he left Lena behind for his career but his Aunt had a plan before she passed.

This is a fun sexy short read with no major drama but I did not enjoy it as much as I do Kristen's other novellas just felt very rushed in some parts and this is the first time I have rated KP 3*.

Indiana Jones photo: Indiana Jones DrIndianajones_zps4079f063.jpg

I have to include this as Indiana Jones got so many mentions LOL.

Easy Fortune by Kristen Proby was a sweet, charming, and fun-filled adventure. In this bite sized novella, Kristen takes her readers on a journey where two former lovers reconnect and discover that the spark and connection they had for each other was never lost. It just needed a little push in the right direction. Since the story of Lena and Mason is short, I will not want to spoil their story by giving away the plot but I will just say that these two embarked on heartfelt and sweet adventure where they discovered that love is indeed like a precious stone. It just needed to be polished and admired for it’s true raw beauty. So if you are looking for a quick read full of heart and adventures, then I suggest you read Easy Fortune.

Title: Easy Fortune
Author: Kristen Proby

4 unexpected stars

Damn. I love it when i get surprised by a paranormal romance and Kristen Proby's newest addition to her Boudreax series was a good surprise. The kind that made me think really hard as to whether or not i should add another series to my list of must catch up. I've only read one other book from this author and that was another 1001 Dark Nights' instalment from the Boudreax series and i enjoyed it more than i could have imagined.

4 breath taking dreams

Although part of her series, i liked the fact that it could still be read as a standalone and the paranormal aspects weren't too overpowering , meaning that even if the characters lived with magic, there was still a realism to the story that helped me connect with the. The adventure and the budding attraction kept me captivated and i like how Kristen Proby added her own spin to witches and wizards that made it her own. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future and i know that i'll be catching up on her past releases until then.

3 "Love is a treasure and an adventure." Stars!

So, this was a nice little KP surprise for me. Kristen Proby is one of my favorite authors and I love this series. I'm looking forward to Savannah's and Ben's story later this month. I've wanted their book from the beginning.

But about this one...

I had issues with Mason and Lena. On the surface, this is a very sweet and romantic second chance romance. I know most people, especially fans of KP and the BOUDREAUX series are going to like this. I liked it too but

Hey, I do get it. Love is an adventure and a treasure. I believe that one hundred percent. Seize the day!! Happy reading!

This is why I never love most novellas. Too short. No connection from me to the H/h. No length to feel their connection.

Lena Turner is a teacher nearing the end of school when an ex boyfriend returns years later to ask a favor. Mason Coulter is 'Indiana Jones', sexy, smart, adventurous and that need for adventure made him leave without a word years ago. Now he is back to settle his Aunt's affairs after her passing. Her will throws the two together on a pre-planned road trip through out the US.

A few stops and I mean only a few and they are failing in love again but she knows his job is his life and he knows it too.

Yadda yadda HEA the end!

I love this series, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series and author. For me the short novellas are useless.

Just like the rest of the Boudreaux Series, EASY FORTUNE was AMAZING! I didn't realize just how much I needed Lena's story until I read it! Truth be told, I should have been BEGGING Kristen for Lena's story all along! Fans of the story will know Lena as Mallory Adams' eccentric best friend who comes from a long line of witches and specializes in spells and magic. And you get a taste of that in EASY FORTUNE, and it's so dang on cute! I loved her then, and I absolutely ADORE her now, and her other half, Mason Coulter is the perfect match for her. He understands her, adores her, and worships the ground she walks on. Yes, he walked away all those years ago, but he's had another taste, and he doesn't plan on leaving Lena again.

"I want you," he murmurs. "God help me, Lena, I want you."

"I'm right here."

EASY FORTUNE is a sexy and exciting adventure, and I NEVER wanted it to end! I would have given anything for a full-blown novel of Lena and Mason's story, but I'll take whatever Ms. Proby throws at me. For being a quick read, it WAS packed with action, adventure, and romance. I LOVED every single second of it. Blending together the perfect amount of sexy and sweet, Ms. Proby turns out the absolute PERFECT ROMANCE for these two, making me fall even more in LOVE with this world and these characters. If I had it my way, this series would NEVER end. I want to give a HUGE thank you to the author for sharing Lena and Mason's story with us. No matter the length of your stories, you always get us straight in the heart, leaving us breathless and wanting more. EASY FORTUNE was just a PURE DELIGHT!

‘Easy Fortune’ is, well, an easy read and incredibly short even for a novella. It packs a second-chance romance, a cute treasure-hunt and a resolution that’s too neatly wrapped-up with promises of true love after a week of sex and fun, though I do think it would have been better had it been a longer, more-drawn out story that wouldn’t have otherwise, put an easily-forgiving female protagonist and a selfish bastard of a male main character back together easily.

But that’s cynical, jaded ol’ me speaking and I’d be the first to raise my flag in support of the mantra that second-chances romances have a hell of a lot to prove before they actually satisfy. Maybe I just wanted an extended time of grovelling and a taste of Mason's own medicine shoved down his throat; maybe I wanted more than just sex that heated the sheets but a deeper development that went past a treasure hunt and a letter that pretty much explained to the MCs why love is important and why both characters should be together.

My problem with this particular second-chance story is that Mason’s apology and return to Lena's life really felt like an afterthought: circumstances had brought him back to where he used to be not because of choice and that his meeting with Lena (and subsequent apology) would not have happened because he never would have sought her out of his own will independently. Throughout, I couldn’t help but think that he was nothing but a self-serving idiot—leaving the woman to pursue his dream without even managing to bother with an explanation when she would have been supportive of him—especially he’d presumptuously and genuinely thought he leaving her without a word really was the best decision for her.

It didn’t seem like a decision that anyone sensible could come back from (let alone easily), particularly after the emotional damage Mason did to Lena, which was why her easy forgiveness of his thoughtless actions left me incredulous, as it merely felt like a hurdle the author wanted to get over and done quickly with before they could move forward together.

The only saving grace, perhaps, was that Lena left in the end yet even so, I was left sceptical in the manner in which Mason came back after trying to redeem himself in a (laughably) big way.

My rant could go on and on. But it’s not a new argument that I’m rehashing against second-chance romances because there are so many things that make this particular trope problematic for me. ‘Easy Fortune’ sadly, isn’t quite one that I could swallow hook, line and sinker.

We met Lena Turner in Easy Magic as she is Mallory's sassy best friend with a special skill set of her own...she is more about spells and magic than psychic abilities though. She is a high school teacher with roots firmly planted in New Orleans with her Gram and friends. She doesn't really date or connect with men. She does not do relationships, and never quite got over a broken heart.

She never expected to see Mason Coulter again. He left her unexpectedly six years ago without explanation. He is an archaeologist that travels the world. He is still charismatic, handsome, and even more attractive than before. And now he is back and needs her help.

Soon they find themselves on a mission. But they are also finding sexual tension and unresolved feelings that have been buried. She can be a bit of an overthinker, but when she lets go, she is funny and adventurous. But she has already been heartbroken once and she does not want to repeat the process. He is protective, caring, and magnetic. Being together again has a profound effect on them, but nothing has really changed about their lives. The chances for a positive outcome don't look any better than they did in the past. And neither of them can predict what will happen after the last task is done.

This is a fun, fast, and swoony novella about finding treasures and rekindling lost love. The storyline was unique and easy to get sucked into. The characters were totally likable and had great chemistry and rapport. It was short and fast-paced, and I might have liked it to slow down a bit and get into more detail, but it was still an enjoyable escape. And it had some really good messages about life, love, and priorities. I enjoyed the cameos, but this can easily be read as a stand alone.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! Simply, amazing!

Easy Fortune is a second chance love story, very sexy and romantic and full of adventure.

Lena and Mason had an intense romance six years ago but their relationship ended up abruptly. That relationship marked both Lena and Mason but life kept them apart for a long time, until the loss of Mason’s favorite aunt brought them back together. But it wasn’t just a simple reunion, it was one helluva adventure, sexy, romantic and perfect for them.

I loved Easy Fortune so much! It was amazingly written, like all Kristen Proby’s books, with lovable characters, beautiful descriptions, and one awesome happily ever after.

100% recommended.

So glad we got Lena’s story!! I was wondering about her after I finished all the other characters.
I like that she had someone from her past come back into her life.

I really liked Mason and it was an interesting story. I love the ending my heart was so full.

Very much enjoyed the narration Zachary Webber made the last few books very worth it.

I am so happy that we got to see more of Lena! As Mallory's best sister/friend, we got to see a tiny bit of her in EASY MAGIC, but this little novella, lets the good witch shine!

I don't want to say much more about the story other than this is a second chance romance that is full of fun and adventure with a bit of meddling relatives thrown in as well. And Mason....whew! Movie star worthy hero with action/adventure in his blood.

Great side story to the series! Hope to catch a glimpse of these two again as the series wraps up.

A fun, easy read that follows Lena, a character we meet in "Easy Magic", as she reconnects with her ex, Mason, as they travel around the country on an adventure of a lifetime to discover the truly important pieces of life... we watch as these characters rediscover one another and rekindle a lost love in this sweet and sexy novella... an enticing addition to the Boudreaux series... 4 Stars:)

This is actually a 2 star, but try as I might I could not rate it with 2, so I had to give it 3 stars. After all, this novella didn't make me spitting mad, the writing style wasn't terrible (it's KP, people!), and there is no stupid bullshit with a potential to destroy mankind. So three stars it is!

This story felt so...blah, for luck of better word. I just was left uninterested or mildly annoyed throughout all of it. Not funny, not sexy, not amusing. I love Kristen Proby, but this story just didn't do it for me.

Also, many readers mentioned the hero's half-ass apology for running away like a scared little rabbit. We get it, it's your dream job and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity vs. new relationship. No one would judge you for choosing to follow your dream instead of staying put to pursue the relationship with a girl that (let's be honest)you did not love. But the hero didn't have the decency to officially break up with Lena, he just pulled the Copperfield and disappeared into the thin air.
6 years later he finds Lena, but not because he misses her and/or realizes what a dick move he did and genuinely wants to apologize, but because he needs her help. And when heroine is not thrilled to see him, the genius asks if she still mad at him.

I like bad boys and anti-heroes, but hypocrisy and a complete lack of self-awareness are not acceptable. Heroine keeps hero on a pedestal, and hero clearly considers himself a good guy. He broke her heart once, will he be more considerate towards her now and stop being so selfish and egotistical? To quote the man himself:
I don’t know if we could have a relationship, but I want her.

And I’m going to have her.

Let's review: he found her because of his aunt's last will, he was not going to pursue relationship with her, he decided to sleep with her for the sole purpose of sex, knowing he would go back to his old life leaving her behind a second time; he decided to stay with Lena due to his aunt's letter and not wanting to end up alone like she did after losing the right person. He proposed because thats the only grand gesture he could think of to keep Lena. They clearly hadn't spend enough time together, their decision to be together for the rest of their lives was really rushed. This is like one of those Hollywood marriages, with bright love stories that burn out fast.

How hard can it be to tell someone it's not working out between you two, wish them to find a right person and thank for all the good times you had together? If you can't be mature enough to end a relationship like an adult, then...Sorry, but I don't find men without balls attractive.

Lena, 28, was a teacher and loved her profession. But she really needed her vacations to start and she can rest.
She was alone in her classroom when she felt a different "vibe". One she had not felt for exactly six years...
Mason Coulter was the great love of Lena's life when she was 22 years old. He always went to New Orleans to spend his vacation with his aunt Claudia. Under her influence, he became an archaeologist.
Soon, his vacation had a new reason to go to the magic city, Lena.
They became friends and then friends with benefits. Until one day he went away... and never came back.
Lena was devastated, not knowing what she had done wrong.
And now, there he was in front of her, even more handsome (the author mentions that he looks like Chris Evans - WOW !!), asking her to do him a favor.
Aunt Claudia had died the week before and had left instructions with the lawyer that the will should be read in the presence of Mason and Lena. Without knowing why, Lena accepted. It is surprise!!
Aunt Claudia had been an archaeologist and had left them on a field trip for a week. All paid. But the sites would be discovered along the journey through clues. If that was not accepted, all her fortune would go to the city of New Orleans.
Since she was on vacation, why not accept it? And Lena went, knowing that it would be hard to be around Mason all the time, which could rekindle old flames.
And the couple went to their journey (their explorations are detailed throughout the narrative), and the couple connected. And as a final destination, a little box containing an engagement ring that had belonged to Claudia, offered by the great love of her life (a story that Mason had never known before). But then the doubt hit: what to do?
Lena's life was in NOLA, with her grandmother and her job. She did not have Mason's need to go out into the world exploring things. He had prepared for it and was in the middle of an excavation in Chile that would last for at least another two years.
To ease his decision, Lena left and rest the rest of her vacation in Italy at the Boudreaux house, loaned by her friend Mallory.
An old dream of writing a book took shape and she had already written hundreds of pages. That's when the doorbell rang. It was fate knocking on her door ...
----------------------------------------
A short story - 10 chapters - and the magic, this time, was not inherited by Lena, but the one between two people in love. Delicious reading.
Go read it. Go! Go! Go! Go!

He left her 6 years ago without any explanation, she missed him all these years. 😴
He came back only because his aunt died and in her will she sent them on a treasure hunt. 😩
She asked him why he left, he said he was scared, and she told him ok she got it.
Then he wanted her, she agreed and they had unprotected sex 😨

~ 5 Adventure of a Lifetime Stars ~

I was so excited to find out that Kristen Proby was giving us a surprise novella for the Boudreaux Series. I can’t get enough of this series.

Well let me tell you, I was honored to receive an ARC of Easy Fortune and it was quite the little GEM ;) I was so excited to see Lena get a story for herself. I really enjoyed her character in Easy Magic and wanted to see her get a HEA too.

Easy Fortune was an big adventure rolled into a short, sweet and sexy story. This book was filled with so much, it is hard to believe it is a novella. I didn’t feel that it was rushed in anyway or that anything was missing. Kristen gets to the heart of the story right from the first page. This book is a second chance romance but also had a amazing message built into the story through the eyes of Claudia (Mason’s Aunt)

In this book we follow Mason and Lena on a small adventure put together by his Aunt Claudia. Mason and Lena used to date 6 years ago and thought everything was going well until Mason just ups and leaves without a word to Lena. She was devastated. It took Lena awhile to get over the hurt Mason caused, but she finally did and now 6 years later Mason is back. Mason has come back to settle his late Aunt’s will and estate. Little did he or Lena know, Aunt Claudia has a trick up her sleeve :) Will Lena be able to forgive Mason for leaving?? Will they be able to reconnect?? What happens when it is time for Mason to leave again and go back to his job?? Can these two finally find their HEA?? Read Easy Fortune to find out.

Easy Fortune is a standalone novella that is told in Dual POV and is a part of the Boudreaux Series. You don’t have to read any of the other books in this series to enjoy this book. You do see Mallory (from Easy Magic) in this story, because she is Lena’s BFF and Lena leans on her quite a bit for advice. But it is not necessary to read that book before reading this novella.

I can’t stress it enough that if you haven’t read this series yet, then don’t wait…jump on in and enjoy the ride!! This series is fantastic. The stories are engaging, fun, sexy and sweet. You will just fall in love with this family and their friends.

Lena Turner is settled in her life. She loves her home in New Orleans, and her job as a school teacher. But though she is thrilled that her best friend has found love, she isn’t willing to let herself fall for another man, not after her heart was broken six years ago.

Mason Coulter did what he needed to do to pursue his dream, leaving Lena behind. But now he needs her help in order to settle his eccentric aunt’s estate. They travel the US together following clues and reconnecting after six years apart.

The chemistry between them is still strong, even though it has been so long and it is only a matter of time before the trip turns from a favor for an old friend to something more. They fight the attraction for only a short time before they begin to pick up where they left off. But those old wounds are still open and trust is a fragile thing.

This was a whirlwind story, not just in the novella’s length, but in the pacing of the plot. There is always something going on, and another location to discover. Moving from place to place gave Mason and Lena time to work together as well as down time with which to relearn each other. I enjoyed everything about this story and found myself grinning at the paces Aunt Claudia went to in order to complete her goals. Though her role in the story is in the past, her hand is in everything these two experiance.

As an addition to the Boudreaux series, this is a quick, fun, short story tying in a favorite side character. Those who love the series will love this side story, but it is also a great place for new readers to jump into the series without needing a whole lot (or any) background information. As a long-time reader myself, this has only whet my appetite for Easy Nights, the next full length novel in the series.

Lena and Mason have a history. And, 6 years ago Mason disappeared....as suddenly as he appeared back in Lena's life 6 years later.

This story was short, even for a novella. But, it was fun and the attraction between them was scorching, from the first meeting to the end of the book.

This is a tough one to review without a spoiler, as the events that are set in motion are a surprise to everyone involved. So, it is difficult to review this, but what I can say is that it was fun. I loved the scenario that is put in place, the reason that they have to spend a lot of time together.

Kristen Proby writes a great story, and this was no exception. She had a small number of words to create an interesting relationship for Lena and Mason. It was well paced, it was believable, and the reason he left years ago not only worked, but was a good enough reason to understand why he would leave then...and why he wouldn't do the same thing now.

While this is a novella in the Boudreaux world, it is not necessary to read in order to be able to relate to Lena or to know the story.

I recommend this book.
