Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Ava Daniels - she has an identical twin sister who is a famous underwear model and Ava is often misalign for her sister. She is a biochemical engineer who has been working on a secret project for a while and one day, she goes in to work to find her lab has been cleared out and her boss, Henry Davidson is missing, along with the formula she had been working on. She had trained for a situation like this but couldn’t for the life of her remember what the protocol was. She attempted to call the three other people that worked in the lab, and nobody was answering their phones. She jumped into her car and drove to Henry’s place, and he wasn’t there either.

The Hero: Aiden O’Connor - he is the owner of an Irish Pub in Boston. He is former military and was stationed in Afghanistan. Like his marine brother, Michael Maddox (from the first book), he still lives with what happened there. He is Henry’s nephew but wants nothing to do with his mother Sophie or her side of the family, including Henry. Aide isn’t big on relationships and rarely lets anyone get close.

The Story: Ava goes to Homeland Security but isn’t sure she can trust the people there. The lab was in a secret location, and she signed a contract saying that she couldn’t give anyone the location of the lab, so she is wary when the director tells her to take him to the lab. Even more so, when two men in black come in and say that they are there to escort her somewhere and rush her into a big SUV. They put her in cuffs with a black bag over her head. They tell her that they did that for her own safety, but they won’t tell her what agency they are with. Then start interrogating her on what happened the previous night. She doubted they even had clearance to know about her project, so she is careful with her answers. She tells them that she hadn’t solved the equation that they were working on.

The men tell Ava that she probably isn’t in any danger, and she should consider her assignment over and they drop her back off at the Homeland Security building where her car was parked. Ava didn’t want to go to her apartment but had no one to turn to. She found two messages on her phone from coworkers who had similar experiences to her and were told to go on vacation. Ava thought it was weird that they had each left similar messages within minutes of each other and both were from unknown numbers. She looks up Henry’s relatives on the internet. She took off to Boston to search them out. Ava meets Aiden and they end up working together to find out the truth.

This setup absolutely hums with intrigue—Ava’s biotech background and her sudden plunge into a web of disappearances and shady government shadows is giving me Body of Lies meets Orphan Black vibes, while Aiden’s broody, ex-military pub owner adds just the right dose of grounded gravitas. The contrast between Ava’s logical, disciplined world and the improvisational grit of Aiden’s universe is ripe for crackling tension—and chemistry. I was on the edge of my seat for much of this book and really enjoyed both the romance and the suspense.

This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in dual narration by Connor Crais and Ava Lucas. Connor Crais has a voice that was made to be a romantic Hero. It is so deep and sexy, I could listen to him all day. He has a great Irish accent and does a terrific job with this book. Though since his voice is so deep, his voice for the female characters isn’t the greatest. I like him in duet narration a lot more than dual. Ava Lucas also has a great voice and does a terrific job.

I have to admit that I wasn't really interested in reading the first book but this book plot wise was more up my alley. This book can be read as a standalone although the characters from the first book appear in this book.

Some parts of the book confused me especially the beginning where it was hard to get into to understand what the feck was going on Aidan' sudden twist in the story.

After my initial problems at the beginning and I can only recommend pushing through the first 8 % I really enjoyed it after that.

Ava is a bio chemist and has been working on solving a formula the past 6 months. Until the morning where she finds that the lab as up and disappeared and that Henry her boss also uped and disappeared.

Aidan isn't what he appears to be in all of this. He is a pub owner on paper but has certain special talents. Ava goes to him for help and as Henry is his uncle and he has some unfinished business he in the end decides to help.

This was an engaging story with great characters and there wasn't a dull moment in this book but I can still only give it 3 Stars due to the confusion and that Aidan went to Michael Maddox (first book hero) for help and it was always Michael Maddox, the man of steel, the God of the universe will save the day. Ok well maybe not that bad but you get my drift.

I will read more by this author when more books come out. I'd like to see a book with Connor. I just hope that he doesn't get paired up with Ava's twin sister, Lily the model.

Ava Daniels is a biochemist tasked to work on a top secret assignment for Homeland Security. After a night of letting loose and having fun, she goes to work finding her lab empty, suspiciously scrubbed clean, and everybody missing. When she goes to the agency to question what's going on at the lab, she's interrogated. Once freed, she begins her quest to find Henry, her boss and mentor. Her research leads her, and the person following her, to Aiden O'Conner, Henry's nephew.

Aiden O'Conner, recently opened a bar with his father after working for the government. One night Ava shows up asking for his help. He's taken with her, but doesn't want to get involved with his uncle and especially not anything remotely connected to his birth mother. After not taking no for an answer, Aiden reluctantly realizes this is the key to his past, and decides to help Ava.

Innocence & Betrayal is book two in the Hidden Truths series by Brittney Sahin. It can be read as a standalone novel. It is deemed a romantic suspense novel and it is chock-full of both! I loved how Ava starts out a bit naïve and geeky, but knows in her mind what is right and what is wrong! She finds her own strength within to fight for what is right. Aiden was kind of all over the place. He was attracted to Ava from the get-go, he's wrestling with those unexpected and unwanted feelings. Add in atrocities that happened while working for the government and in the military, and then his mother issues, he's a hot mess!

I really liked how the author wove all these things together to keep you guessing. It kept you on your toes and interested from the very first page! It was an intriguing read and I definitely would recommend it!

What I loved most about this read was that there were no cliffhangers. No dragging the story out for multiple books of a single series. There was answers. There were results. There was chemistry. There was suspense. I want very much to go back and see if book one of the series will be this satisfying.

Ava doesn't know what to think, but she has to find Henry, her boss, who's gone missing along with the entire lab she used to work in. The highly secretive project leaves her with no one to talk to and when she's turned away from her own agency, she does something she'd never expected, take matters into her own hands. Hunting down Henry's family is one thing, finding his handsome nephew and getting him wrapped up in things is another. But Aiden has secrets of his own and protecting Ava comes before his deep seeded family hatred. She may hold all the answers to his past and be able to help him get a second chance.

My new found love of romance mixed with suspense can be perfectly explained by Innocence & Betrayal, book two in the Hidden Truths series. The characters, sexy, flawed, and guarded, the scenarios intense and full of suspense. The combination makes for some amazing attraction and instant chemistry, two people fighting for their lives and leaning on each other to ignore reality. I really enjoyed the concept of terrorism, running from the agency you expect to protect you, and finding a hot Irishman to help protect you. Ava is strong, she's nerdy, she's shy, but she's also incredibly beautiful and determined, a combination Aiden can't ignore. Aiden, our man of secrets, brings a lot of action to this book, both during fight scenes and bedroom scenes. He's got a rough family past that he hangs onto, military memories he can't let go of, and a secret that twists the entire story up. I really enjoyed the constant flow of feelings from both characters and both of their desires to fight whats going on between them, but being stuck so close together that they have to face them head on.

While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I found myself wanting to know about the previous book's characters, Michael and Kate, so I will be going back to read it. There is a lot going on in this book, as long as terrorism doesn't spook you, it's definitely a worthy read. Brittney has done her research, created an incredibly believable plot with a wide range of characters, and I really recommend it.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Brittney Sahin is a new and upcoming author in the suspense romance genre and boy can she write sexy intrigue! After reading Silenced Memories, I couldn't wait to see what sexy ex-marine she would write about next. I was a bit disappointed to find it wasn't Connor or Jake but then she introduced the hot Irish, fighter, rogue Aiden and I was done for. She hit the mark on pairing the beautiful, brainiac chemist Ava Daniels and Aiden O'Connor and having them fight for not only their lives but the safety of all US citizens. Innocence & Betrayal brings action, steam, and conspiracy to a whole new level with a twin thrown in...what? I would tell you more but that would require higher security clearance.

Ava's world has been turned upside down from the moment she walked into her highly confidential lab to find her boss and laboratory equipment missing. When she stumbles across a gorgeous Irish man that is wrapped up within this secretive mess, her libido goes into overdrive. We begin to see Ava undergo a beautiful transformation, her seductive personality emerge, and take off her spectacles and lab coat and get up and close and personal with the hunky Aiden. I loved seeing Ava evolve into a more confident, fierce woman yet and still revel in her intelligent side. Give me a heroine who discovers her spirit and place in the world and my feminist side roars!

When Ava comes walking in to Aiden's bar asking questions that raise Aiden's suspicion, he never expects to fall for this lab coat wearing temptress but no is not an answer she is willing to take. It doesn't take long and he is drawn into the danger and she is burrowing under his skin and in his heart. During the suspense and mystery of Innocence & Betrayal, I found myself falling hard for Aiden. I don't know exactly what is was about this Irish rogue that hooked me. Maybe it was his thick accent, rugged good looks, or the gallant way he protected Ava. He grabbed my heart and didn't let go.

Innocence & Betrayal is a great addition to the mysterious and sexy Hidden Truths series. I am anxiously awaiting to read about more of Brittney's hunky secretive heroes that spend their time dodging bullets and rescuing spunky, strong, damsels in distress. I highly recommend for a nail biting, head scratching, heart melting romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing about what is coming next. Brittney is making a huge splash in the sexy suspense genre and has me coming back for more...especially for a taste of Connor and Jake.

4.5 Stars

This is the second book in the Hidden Truths series by Brittney Sahin.

There is just something about a sexy Irishman who doesn’t immediately fall at the feet of a girl who is the twin of a supermodel. This book had me captivated by the get go.

Ava Daniels is about as far removed as career goes from her sister the supermodel. She is a microbiologist who works for the government in a secret off the books facility where they are trying to complete an investigation into a dangerous chemical substance. When Ava gets to work one morning she discovered the entire lab has been wiped clean. There is nothing there at all. Every room is empty.

Ava tries to figure out what to do and finds a link to her boss’s family and goes to Boston to see if his nephew can help her locate her missing co-workers. Aiden O’Conner is not the type to trust easily due to his time in the military. He is immediately skeptical of Ava and blows her off. But she is not one to give up and keeps at him. Then Aiden spies a tail watching her and he is someone Aiden recognizes. He then relents and helps her.

This situation is so much bigger than any of them realize and now they are on the run for not only their lives but the lives of the American public.

I could not put this book down. From all the scenes with Aiden and the dire circumstances they found themselves in, I thought it was all great. My favorite book in the series so far. Nice to see people from book one popping up and helping in their time of need. I appreciate when an author makes sure and introduces us to the main characters of their next book so we are primed and ready to read the next fantastic offering in the series. Can’t wait to read book three!

Highly recommended.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second in a series - and could be read as a stand alone, but Silenced Memories is a great read, so do go and read it first. There are recurring characters, but new main protagonists. This is another romance with a very fast paced thriller leading the way. It is scarily likely to be true, I fear!

I found Ava to be a delightful character, with an interesting family background (twin) and a strong desire to use her brain to do good. Sadly she seems to have been let down by her boss and employers and now faces a pretty scary situation. Using her skills of deduction she finds an ally, she thinks, and undoubtedly a rather gorgeous man, Aiden. He is not exactly what he seems, but using Michael and his contacts, his aim to keep the beautiful Ava safe is possible. As they succumb to their attraction, they deal with a lot in a very short time, and cannot help but wonder if their attraction is borne of the situation rather than love. Luckily Ms Sahin knows just how long to make the reader suffer (give or take) so a very nicely balanced tale emerges.

If you like some espionage / thriller content in your romances, then this should work for you.

Love a hot sexy Irish badass

4.5 stars. Book 2 in the Hidden Truth series is a gem.
Aiden O’Connor was briefly introduced during book 1. This time the action centers on him and Ava Daniels.

Aiden former Marine, tormented by his time in Afghanistan, current co-owner of an Irish Pub in Boston.
Ava is a biochemist working on a top secret project for the President, she discovers her team has suddenly gone missing and their entire lab and work has disappeared.
Ava fears her mentor and lab director is in danger. A google search for his life outside the lab & relatives leads her to Aiden’s pub.

Despite his initial rejection and protests he agrees to help her. What Ava thought to be a hunt for a missing person quickly escalates to a desperate desire for truth, and staying alive.

Aiden goes to his former squad for help, Michael, Jake & Connor.
The search for answers leads them back to DC and a past Aiden wanted to forget and was never able to let go.
Ava surprises herself and everyone else when she takes a stand. Lives are on the line, she has to find Henry fast.

Action, adventure, steamy encounters with sexy people... all for justice. Typical Brittney goodness. Only thing missing is an epilogue.

Read this in one sitting (well, in between dishes & eating) ... It has such a unique plot, dynamic characters, and smoking hot scenes. Be prepared for an action-packed & surprising read. This is def. not your typical romance suspense novel. It is half thriller/mystery & half romance (well, I think that is tehn. the RS genre, but lately most books aren't like that--which is why I love this one--because that is my style!). I would compare it more to one of my other faves (Iris Johanson or Marliss Melton)... This book has a very interesting conspiracy & great tension between the characters (sexy, romantic, humor)... GREAT! When does the next book come out?!

Wow! Another stunning work of suspense and intrigue. Although this is billed as part of a series it is a stand-alone novel. A strong and confident female lead takes center stage in an all-out adrenaline rush to stay alive when those who work with her go missing. Add-in a sexy Irishman and the romance steams my glasses! Plot-twists and surprises abound in this story that will keep you guessing until the final page.

Beyond the Chase is one of those books that grabs you right away and doesn't let go as Ava tries to stay alive and find out what happened to her friends. She works in a classified lab and was working on a secret project for the government until one day that all vanishes including Henry, a man who had become like her father as they worked together. While probing his background she finds out that he has a nephew, Aiden, and sets out to find him hoping he is with him or that he can help find him. Aiden didn't know he had an uncle and is not very receptive of Ava until he realizes she is being followed, he helps her and then they get attacked, so Aiden calls on his friends. Now the race is on to find Henry and to stay alive.
This book is filled with twists and turns, secrets, betrayals, lies, suspense, action and lust/love. I really enjoyed these two, Aiden is a hot stubborn Irishman that has secrets he doesn't want to share adding to the mystery of this man and wants to protect Ava above all else. I loved how kind and compassionate Ava was and even though she was beautiful she was shy and tried to be a "plain jane", not flaunting her beauty or association with her model twin sister. I also enjoyed how Ava grew around Aiden, making her strong and confident to be able to face what comes at her.
Brittney Sahin did an amazing job with these two along with the plot and the mystery, trying to figure out the answers and when I thought I had it...the author throws another spin on it. GREAT GREAT read that had my heart pounding flipping the pages to see what happens next and the ending at the function had me smiling from ear to ear.

Ava and Aiden :)

I didn’t know what to expect from this book because I didn’t really get an intro to Aiden. Boy did I fall in love with Aiden! This was a great suspense story that really had some twists and turns that had me going and took me in directions I wasn’t expecting.

Aiden is the secretive Irish hero of the story, and Ava is the chemist in trouble. Once again there are secrets, lies, twists, turns, and romance...I enjoyed reading this book and was on the edge of my seat the entire time and didn’t know what to expect and the love story between Aiden and Ava was hot and steamy, but there was also a connection.

I was happy to have familiar secondary characters in the book.

Would I recommend? Heck yeah!
Will I keep reading? Already on book 4, so yep!

I finished Beyond The Chase book #2 in the Hidden Truth Series by Brittney Sahin last night. And all I can say is WOW!!!!! I love reading a book where there are strong female characters mixed with sexy, strong and honorable alpha males. This series keeps surprising me with it's plot lines and characters. I love how many details there are, that way you feel like you really get into the mind of the characters and what the author must have researched to give us the best possible book!!! Definitely a 5 star book!!!

Innocence & Betrayal is the second book in the Hidden Truths Series but can be read as a standalone.

Innocence & Betrayal is about a woman named Ava Daniels, a reserved biochemist that has spent six months woking on a top secret assignment for Homeland Security. On her one night of freedom, her boss is missing, and her lab is empty. Interrogated, followed, and attacked, Ava fns herself in search of answers as the clock winds down.

Aiden O'Connor, Irish born and raised, tried to put his past behind him when he opened a bar in the heart of Boston. One night Ava Daniels shows up at his bar asking for help. She is unlike any woman Aiden has ever met before but once he learns the true nature of her problem, Aiden realizes that she is the key to unlocking his past and possibly getting a second chance.

The plot, characters, and overall novel just made Innocence & Betrayal an amazing read. The fact that the characters, Ava and Aiden, felt so flawed yet so right made the novel an even more delightful read. Their chemistry and attraction, plus the fact that they were on the run and could truly only rely on one another, left me feeling even more for the novel and characters. The character transitions for both Ava and Aiden left me with a smile because of no matter what they thought, they changed and became even better for it. Another bonus to this novel would have to be that Brittney Sahin, the author, did not drag the novel on. The novel was beautifully pieced together and seemed to just to work out overall. Plus, for those that don't like cliffhangers, this novel does not have a cliffhanger. In the end, I am definitely glad that I checked this novel out.

If you like suspense, romance, chemistry, and mystery then you should pick up this novel and check it out today.

Secrets, Suspense, & Sex!

This is definitely an edge of your seat story. Filled with suspense from the first chapter. Ava finds herself in an empty lab the morning after a night out. Everything is gone, the place is spotless and her co-workers are nowhere to be found. Before she has time to figure out what’s happened, she’s ‘kidnapped’ and taken in for interrogation. After being told to take a vacation, the government will figure out what has happened, Ava finds herself researching her mentor’s past to figure out where he has disappeared to.

Aiden owns a bar along with his father, when Ava stumbles into his life asking for his help. At first he wants nothing to do with this woman and sends her packing. Unfortunately for him, Ava doesn’t give up that easily. When she returns the next day, Aiden finally caves and agrees to help her find Henry. This is where their adventure starts, but it’s not where it ends.

This is a stand alone novel, filled with enough suspense to keep you reading till the very last page. The chemistry between Ava and the sexy as sin Irish Aiden, is off the charts hot.

A tangled web of lies and deceit. After finding the highly secure, government lab she works in empty, Ava Daniels is alone, afraid, and doesn't know who to trust. She sets off to find her mentor, believing he has to be innocent of any wrongdoing. Her search leads her to his nephew, Aiden O'Connor.
Aiden wants nothing to do with an uncle he's never known. After repeatedly refusing to help, things take a quick turn and suddenly Ava and Aiden are forced to run...together.
I enjoyed the characters that Sahin created. Ava was a brilliant woman. She was strong and brave, yet conflicted and vulnerable too. Aiden was super sexy with his Irish accent and calm and cool attitude. I loved how he also seemed so laid back unless Ava was pushing his buttons. I like how they affected each other. Their connection was clear and the tension was palpable.
Sahin, again, adds a mystery to the story. This one, even more complex than the last. The fast paced storyline was action packed and suspenseful. Filled with danger, intrigue, treason, lies, and betrayal...I couldn't put it down. This was a great follow up to Silenced Memories and I can't wait to read more! I'm hoping Connor and Jake get books too!!

I love the way Brittney writes her characters and how they react to one another. The way Ava and Aiden feel about each other even though they have just met is breathtaking. Her ability to write characters and describe just how drawn they are to each other is amazing. You feel it in your gut along with them. I also love that she does not write weak women with strong men. Both Ava and Aiden can hold their own and need each other to get through their problems. Although the Hidden Truths series can be read as standalones I love how we see characters from all the books intertwined, it just helps us get to know everyone better and really fall in love with all of them. I loved this story and can't wait to read the next one!

No dia anterior, ela e o Henry, tinham conseguido desvendar a equação. ❤️📖 This is the 2nd book in the Hidden Truths series 📖❤️

The story starts right ahead with a mystery, Ava finds the lab where she worked for the last six months empty. She can't reach her coworkers and she knows that something, actually everything is wrong. As she tries to figure out the situation she meets Aiden, a mysterious Irishman, who at first refuses to help but as situation escalates they start to work together.

The story has again great tempo, from the beginning we are pulled into the action, you can only guess what is going on, the more facts are revealed, the more complicated things get and you can't be sure who are the good and the bad guys.

The chemistry of Aiden and Ava is amazing, the tension while they both try to act reasonably but both fail 😅🥵🌶️ well chemistry is too strong. Ava is ussualy shy and wants to be invisible but the danger and Aiden himself bring her strong character forfront, Aiden who suffers from being abandoned by his mum and questions if Ava will stay and if he will be enough for her.
Both helps each other to heal in some ways.
I liked that they didn't jump right ahead into the relationship and gave each other space, altought it was hard but Aiden showed his romantic side 😍 and decided to fight for their future.

We meet Kate and Michael again, who plays important part in investigation and they supported Aiden to move into the action with Ava.

Loved this book and looking forward to read Connor's story next.

Another one that was just OK. I really enjoyed the Stealth Ops series and I thought I’d go back and read some earlier books. But they don’t pack the same punch as the Stealth Ops series yet. But I’m gonna give it more time. It’s a such a fascinating world and I’m glad to read more of it. But the Stealth Ops guys are my favorites.

In this one, we meet Ava and Aiden. Ava is a scientist and has helped to develop a chemical weapon against her best judgment. However, once the formula for the weapon is finished, they decide that it really isn’t a good idea and so they try to get rid of the evidence that they completed the formula. But secret government entities start to chase them and she ends up going to Aiden for help.

The romance between Aiden and Ava was pretty fast and whirlwind-y. So I didn’t get much of a chance to really grow to like them that much. Also, he was really anti-commitment and he came across as somewhat of a jerk sometimes. But in the end when she was in danger, he realizes his feelings for her so it all worked out.

Overall, this was a decent read. The action was a little complicated and excessive in a way. But again, in the end, it all worked out. Again, this team not as good as the stealth ops. But they’re starting to grow on me.
