Rate this book
Every parent hopes their kids will turn out right. They pray that when their children leave the nest, they will be ready to face the world. And they hope that their kids will be equipped to stand strong in life's battles. There are no shortcuts to successful parenting . . . no secret formulas to raising kids of strength and character. However, there are steps you can take to prepare your children for the challenges ahead. But you'll need an effective game plan.

With warmth and conviction, Dr. Tim Kimmel outlines a strategy for positive parenting--a plan that gives you reachable goals, while allowing for your personal parenting style. You have only a few short years with your child...make the most of the time you have. (This book was formerly titled Legacy of Love)

TONS of typos in this book, there were so many that they were distracting. Also it was written so long ago that parenting styles have changed, technology has changed, even the examples in this book are almost entirely obsolete. I was disappointed because the previous parenting book that I read from this author was excellent. This one missed the mark, but the class I’m taking at church based on this book is, thankfully, excellent. More thanks to the teaching pastor and less to this book. We even skipped the associated video lessons a few times because the teachings didn’t mesh with our interpretation at our United Methodist church. I appreciated my pastor explaining why we were skipping the video lesson, and explained how Methodist beliefs differ.

Anyway, the book has added nothing to the course, unfortunately. I don’t recommend it.
