A sexy, gripping romantic suspense...

Identical twin sisters move to St. John's, Oregon, buy Vavoom's Bar, and purposely put themselves into the path of Notus Motorcycle Club.

Burdened by a deep, dark secret, Clara has to be careful because one wrong step, one wrong word, could land her and Gracie in prison. Her need to stay close to the motorcycle club members backfire when Wayne Shaw throws her heart into a tailspin. There is more to the possessive biker than she originally thought. Cornered and out of options, she can only go forward and hope Wayne protects her.

Wayne Shaw splits his time between working at Port Loaders, searching for missing persons in partnership with the local police department, and keeping Notus Motorcycle Club together in hopes a brother will come home. Skilled at finding clues normal people miss, he has no trouble telling the new owners of Vavoom's apart. He only wants Clara.

When a little girl goes missing, followed by a teenager disappearing, Wayne's need to keep Clara safe while searching for a serial killer gets tested… until he's no longer sure who is the hunted and who is the hunter.

It's worth mentioning that this is a different kind of MC book, the Notus MC has just five members, five boys that grew up together, experienced life, love and tragedy together. The tragedy was too much for one of them, Rich he left and hasn't been heard from since.
The boys grew up and formed their own MC which has only five members, well four and one honorary, ready for when Rich returns.
I liked the idea of the small MC, their history and their purpose I also liked that Wayne became president because years before he'd been the one to walk down the street and ask Thad if he wanted to play.
Clara and Gracie are identical twins from St. John's Oregon, after the death of their mother when they were just five years old they moved away. The death of their father years later brought forward information that he'd kept a secret box in a town for more than twenty years after they'd moved. They discover that their mother hadn't died from natural causes as they'd been led to believe but she'd been kidnapped and murdered twenty-four years ago.
The girls can't rest, they need to know what happened and they need to know that someone will pay for what they've done and so they move back to St. John's and a buy a bar, a bar they know the Notus MC hang out at.

There was a lot about this book I liked but as a whole I didn't like it anywhere near as much as I'd expected or hoped.
I liked the MC and it's members and I loved Wayne.
I'm not sure I felt any real connection or chemistry between Wayne and Clara but that could have been because she was keeping things from him.
I never really bought the whole 'secret' either. As soon as Clara felt any real attraction for Wayne she should have come clean and explained they wanted help finding the man who'd murdered their mother.
Also I hate it when a conversation needs to take place but keeps getting delayed and delayed and delayed for a variety of reasons. I don't know if it's just me but this really annoys me.

I know, I know I'm picky.

I will put this out there first, this is not your everyday MC story. The MC in this is 5 guys. They really don't do anything criminal, except for being a tad vigilante. They are guys they grew up together and bonded during a terrible tragedy that set them on the path to trying to find missing persons. They don't have road names or a club house. So if you are looking for all that this is not the book for you.

The story itself was good and kept you interested. I really didn't feel the pull between Clara and Wayne. They seemed more friends then lustful. Now they did have hot moments. It was interesting how the tragedies in both their lives became intertwined. Wayne was very sweet and caring and I did think he was forgiving.

I would like to read about the others in the story and was hoping Gracie would hook up with one of them. Plus I would like to hear about the one guy that is MIA.

Good read. Received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley.

I've read a few of Debra Kayn's books and on the whole I've really enjoyed them.
She sets the scene and draws you into the story and before you know it, you're hooked.

Notus MC is an MC with a slight difference. No prospects, no gun running. They're a small group and they set their own standards....moral standards.

Wayne is a great character and just what you've come to expect from one of Debra's books. He's strong, straight forward and loyal.

Clara is playing her cards close to her chest but will that inevitably be her downfall, when trust is being offered so freely?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are great. I've already imagined where a couple characters could go from here. However, Glen's story is next and I didn't get much of a feel for him. None the less, I'm looking forward to finding out where this group of men take us next.

Hard Proof (Notus Motorcycle Club #1) by Debra Kayn

This is the first time I've read a book written by Debra Kayn, her writing is really good, loved the story line, and the character development for future books has me intrigued to want to read the next book in this series.

First I will say it’s a bit different from the other Motorcycle Club books I've read, but only because their club consists of 5 close friends who grew up together and formed the Notus Motorcycle Club. The other big difference is this Club works on missing person case's and are called in by police if they need help.

The story line was exciting, kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next, I like that there was some mystery and suspense involved in the story line. Rather than bad boy meets the nice girl romance novel. But in saying that the romance portion of the story was great, I enjoyed Clara and Wayne's story even if it had some deceit in it.

I definitely can't wait to read more in this series, I am hoping Grace finds some exciting romance with one of the other club members.

I have rated Hard Proof, 4 stars and would highly recommend anyone to pick up/download a copy for yourself.

Lets start off by saying this is our first read from this author and we really enjoyed our first time read by them.

Gracie and Clara are twins who lost their dad and a long time ago their mother to a tragic murder. Now they are back where they grew up to find out who killed their mother and seek revenge. They need the help of the Notus MC in order to seek revenge. Now bar owners they are hoping to get to know the MC members and to approach them with seeking revenge and to find out who was responsible for their mothers death.

Clara and Wayne hit it off very the very beginning and he is part of the MC.They have chemistry and made a really cute couple.
Clara I found her to be smart, sensitive, loving, and just an all around sweet girl even though she is not being entirely truthful.

Gracie her twin was more the quiet and keep to yourself kind of girl.

Wayne was loving ,kind, sexy, caring and another all around great guy.I loved how he and his men dropped everything whenever a girl goes missing. This is what their club is about ,helping others. One of their childhood friends sister went missing years ago and it still is a loss to all of them so the have made it their mission to help others.

This was a sweet romance with a bit of mystery with a great cast of interesting characters. The story got more interesting when the women are in danger a perhaps a target on whoever is currently hurting the women.

I loved that Notus and the police department work together on these type of crimes knowing that the department only had a limited reach. It was a nice change seeing the police not gunning for a club.Wayne and his MC Club brothers Glen, Thad and Chuck invest their resources in trying to find the missing women along with all holding down different jobs. You have to admire them.

I really enjoyed the story cover to cover and it had enough romance, mystery, sex,to keep you interested and turning the pages.

It was easy to connect with the characters that we read about they were like-able as well as love-able.This was a MC story that is lighter then most MC reads I have read . It was not as hardcore as most are but, interesting enough to keep you engaged and wanting to continue reading the other books in its series.

5 stars from us

This was not quite I was expecting for a motorcycle club story. Don't look for a hard, gritty outlaw group. This is a small group of 4 men. The fifth is missing in action. They are a group who look for the missing. Clara and Grace recently found of that there mother was murdered and that the person responsible was still at large with no leads. They heard of the Notus MC and decide to try to get close to them so that could ask for help. I thought they should have been straight forward and ask but that was not the plat. The character of Wayne was interesting to me. However, I didn't really connect with Clara. I think it had more to do with the the beginning of the book. The conversations the sisters had were a off to me. The romance is there and the there are some sexy scenes. There is plenty of mystery and suspense in the book. Not my favorite MC book but I do like a decent plot and this one was pretty good. I am interested in the missing "brother",

A gripping, romantic suspense that you won't want to miss! This is not your typical MC. With only 5 friends as members that are bound by a brotherhood which was formed during childhood, but only strengthened after a horrific tragedy, all except for one that is. The Notus MC isn't into the typical type of criminal activity that is found in most MC's. They all have legit jobs, but what they are most often known for is their dedication to helping find missing persons, and working with local law enforcement to do so. However, that doesn't mean that they're not willing to do what it takes to make sure that the criminals pay for the crimes they've committed when the courts fail to do their jobs.

Wayne is the president of the Notus MC, and although most of the time he's is easy going, he is still not someone to be messed with. He's protective of his brothers, his club, and those he cares about, especially their missing brother. All of the members feel a personal responsibility to help find those who are missing, weather by choice or otherwise, especially when they feel that they couldn't save someone close to them, or their brother that has all but disappeared since the tragedy.

Clara and Gracie are identical twins that have always been close, but even more so after theunexpected death of their father. After his death, they found information about their mother, whom they thought had died of natural causes, but had actually been murdered. After much deliberation between them, they agreed to purchase a bar in their original home town, the same place where their mother was murdered, in hopes of getting close to the MC that helps find missing people. Except that the person who they want found is their mothers killer, and they want the MC to make him pay for what he's done.

When things don't go according to their original plan, will Clara and Gracie still be able to continue with their plan to get revenge? When Clara and Wayne become more involved, the twins decide to wait to discuss everything with him, but is it the right decision? When 2 different girls go missing within just a couple of weeks, police and the MC scramble to try and find them before it's too late, but is there a bigger plot that no one is seeing? Will Wayne and his brother's be able to keep the twins safe until they can figure out what's going on, and who's behind the abductions? Is there a connection that no one is seeing, and what will happen because of it? You'll have to read this to find out!

Although this is not like any other MC romance, it is a great story, and I loved the uniqueness of it. This emotional roller-coaster of a story has fantastic characters, humor, angst, intense situations, and intriguing surprise twists. You won't be able to put it down till the very end. The only issue I had was that there was a few questions that were left unanswered at the end, but hopefully they'll be answered in the next story. This did not have a cliffhanger ending, for which I was very grateful, but it does have a secondary plot regarding the missing brother that will be continued at least into the next book.

I would definitely recommend this book, series, and great author.

First off I will admit that I am a super fan of Debra Kayn's books. I devour them. I read them again and again. Yes, some are better than others. Yes, I obsess over some more than others. But this one, Hard Proof, blew me away. I had goose bumps. I cried. I screamed. I hollered. I freaked out. At one point I even jumped out of my seat. So intense. So real.

The way she wrote about the villain, the way she had the villain interacting on the page creeped me out. I was terrified. I went around locking doors and windows, checking them twice. If this was a movie I would be hiding under the covers biting my nails. The ability Debra Kayn has to make it so believably real, so lively had me reading way into the night (that might not have been a good idea considering--freaking scary!!).

On to the sweeter, brighter part which thankfully there is a lot. Gracie and Carla are identical twins that return to St. Johns, Oregon with a mission. 24 years ago, tragedy struck their family and they were clueless. They didn't even remember living in the small town. And now they will do everything within their power to make the evil person pay for destroying their family.

They can't do it alone. Two women in a strange town are at a disadvantage. They need to get help but first they have to lay the ground work. When Wayne, a member of Notus MC walks into their bar, plans start to crumble. Wayne is gorgeous, caring, tough as nails and he only has eyes for Carla. How will she be able to ask him to do what must be done when she is falling hard. Will life crumble if the full truth is revealed?

The Notus MC is known for finding missing persons. When disappearances begin soon after the twins arrival they drop everything to search. When things start hitting close to home, Wayne is torn. How does he protect his woman and find the missing girl? When Carla's world crumbles with club be able to save the day or will they be too late again?

Wayne Shaw? YaaaOK that's a name to die for! *fanning face*

What happens in this delectable romantic suspense? Well... I can't say because I did not finish...

Unfortunately, there was an eau de Clara et Gracie that was missing for me. It was difficult to get enraptured in the girls' story. I just wanted yummy Wayne and his Wayne-ness. Hubba HUBBA!

Gaaawd is something wrong with me?? This book has everything I crave: mystery, romance, conflict. The storyline is absolutely fantastic and unique; this is definitely not the typical motorcycle club romance. But I had a hard time associating with the characters - particularly Clara and Gracie - and the saucy mystery and danger was overshadowed by my blatant desire to read only about Wayne... Talk about me being obsessed! I was a sheep amongst the herd, muddling my way through this brilliant text, oblivious to all of Debra Kayn's plot twists.

Who's Clara again? Gracie-a-what-a-what?

All I can think now is, "What happens to Wayne?!"

Methinks I am going to put Hard Proof aside and re-evaluate it in a few weeks. The plot is too tempting to let it go unread, but right now, I appear to be in a single-minded space and I'm having a hard time turning the pages. Am I in a reading funk? I don't think so... 🤔Am I not in the right mood for this type of book? It's a mystery to me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Goodbye for now Wayne Shaw. We'll see what happens to you in a few weeks. 😏

To be continued...

Wayne Shaw is one of the founders of Notus MC, an MC not far from Portland Oregon. They aren’t really a traditional MC, they spend their spare time trying to locate missing people. Shortly after their father’s death, Claire Nelson and her identical twin sister found out that her mother was murdered when they were little and that it had went unsolved. They decided to move back to her hometown and hire the Notus MC to solve the old crime. She just wasn’t counting on her attraction to Wayne.
THis book wasn’t bad. It was the first I read by this author. The plot was pretty well laid out. I liked both characters. I really liked the building chemistry between them. I liked the serial killer’s snippets. I had some issues with it, hence making it a 3.5 instead of a 4 or 5.
Issue 1-the MC. Since the Notus MC consisted of five childhood friends that grew up together. They hang out at Wayne’s home and solve crimes. They don’t accept new members. The only real connection I saw to an MC is that they ride motorcycles and wear vests. Not a huge issue, but if the series is branded as an MC series, it should have certain MC elements to it.
Issue 2-Why the subterfuge? I didn’t know why the girls couldn’t just ask Wayne to look into their mother’s murder right from the beginning when he tells Claire what they do. It made for unnecessary tension and had Gracie acting more like Claire’s mother than her twin sister in regards to Wayne. There were some other small things but nothing that actually ruined the book. Overall it was a decent read.

Very good suspense, mystery, romance. I love MC Books and this one had some elements that many do not have, all for the extra enjoyment of the reader. Carla and Gracie Nelson moved back to St. Johns, Oregon two years after their father's death. While going through a safe deposit box they discover that their mother's death was not from natural causes as they believed but that she had been kidnapped, raped and murdered 24 year ago. With that knowledge, they begin to devise a plan that will set events in motion that put them in the killer's path and change not only their lives but the lives of the citizens of Sta. Johns. The plan is to get close to the men of the Notus MC Club who have made it their mission to find and return missing persons. When Clara meets Wayne Shaw, president of Notus there is an instant connection and Clara falls in love with him but will that alter their plans? This book will keep you on the edge of your seat as you find out how the events play out, whether their will be justice for their mother's murder and will there be an HEA. I have not read this author before but I definitely plan to continue with this series and anxiously await book 2. Do yourself a favor and "one click" this book.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

No this is not your "typical" MC book. There are only 5 members, they are childhood friends. They have a full time job during the day and on their off hours they help look for missing persons. I didn't mind it not being a typical MC book, I love the fact that they are unsung heroes. Their dedication to this work comes from a tragedy that happened over 20 years ago to one of the members, Thad's sister Thalia. There were some horrible times in this story and won't divulge what they were so I don't spoil it for anyone else. The main female characters, Clara & Gracie. They buy a bar and a house in town, a town where they were born and where their mother had gone missing and murdered (which they only found out about 2 years ago after their father's death). They have ulterior motives for doing this and that is one of the things that bothered me. Clara who gets involved with Wayne - Pres of the MC should have been honest right from the start but she wasn't and things may have gone differently. The other element that disappointment me was the way it came to a closure. It was too quick - I wanted this lunatic to be put through the grinder - he got off too easy. Some may disagree but that's my opinion. I'm not bloodthirsty just wanted more details. Debra Kayn rarely disappoints me and this one was no exception. Looking forward to the next one.

So this is a brand new series from Mrs. Kayn. I have read a few of Mrs. Kayn's books before now and have really enjoyed them. I do want to say though before continuing on with this review that if your a fan of MC books, this book is nothing like your typical MC book. This book doesn't include a lot of members, it doesn't seem to the hang arounds (ok well that's not entirely true). This club is really only made out of five members, but really its only four since one of them took off.

I enjoyed Clara, I really did. I thought she was sweet, caring and kind. I thought that she was a bit friendly than her twin sister. I do want to say though I did kind of roll my eyes when she wasn't sure or not if she wanted to tell Wayne the truth or not.

I loved Wayne. He's not your typical hard core president of a MC club. He was very laid back in a way. But beside his regular job, he was very dedicated to helping find people. I loved the friendship/brother hood he had with his best friends, who made up the rest of the Notus MC.

I really did enjoy this book from start to finish. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and held it till the end. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I'm giving this book 4 Stars out of 5!!!!

Awesome book! This story is a heart-pounder. A serial killer is on the loose, and the twin sisters, Clara and Gracie are the new targets. The mystery keeps you on the edge of your seat, and you wonder who is going to be next. When the sisters move to town, buying a bar, they get to know the local people. They are looking to find out what happened to their mother, who was kidnapped and murdered when they were four. As they keep up work at the bar, Clara meets a motorcycle man. It's a hot romance in the midst of all the things going on. She gets to know Wayne, and he is part of a close knit group who searches for missing persons and dishes out vigilante justice if necessary. It's quite the story, as Clara gets to know Wayne, and then the unthinkable happens...girls start disappearing. The twins are really scared, and wonder if their mother's killer is the one kidnapping the missing females. There are some sinister things that go on behind the scenes, and you get to see into the mind of a killer. I couldn't stop reading until I finished this one. I highly recommend it.

This is book 1 in the Notus Motorcycle Club series. First of all, this is not really what I would call a “motorcycle club” but just a club that has 5 friends in it who ride a motorcycle. Wayne, Glen, Chuck, Thad and Rich grew up together, rode motorcycles and started their own “club” after getting permission from the local 1% motorcycle club. They had run the streets together since they were 6 years old. They stayed firm friends until Rich’s sister was kidnapped and later found dead. Things changed then for this group of friends. Rich left and the rest have been trying to find him ever since. Now it’s 22 years later, Clare and Gracie have moved back to town. Notus is now helping locate the missing people in town. Clare and Gracie want to hire them to find the man who killed their mother so many years ago. This is a very good book and will keep your interest from start to finish. Just remember that it’s not your typical MC book, it’s more of a search and rescue effort, and you won’t be disappointed. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy that I received from Netgalley.

My Review of Hard Proof (Notus Motorcycle Club #1)
by Debra Kayn
My Rating 3 Stars
I’ve read many of Ms. Kayn’s books and have seen different elements in each of her MC stories and this one is another unique storyline. Notus MC is a different breed of Motorcycle Club than readers will be used to. I did enjoy this book but did find myself at times bored in the storyline. I believe this to be more from my own expectations than the writing or the story its self.
I didn’t feel the sexual tension from Clara and Wayne their relationship felt more like a deep friendship both of these characters each having past experiences that have left them guarded but I believe that’s what drew them to one another despite the deceit as to why Clara and Grace were there wanting their help. I believe this book was just so different from what I’m used to from this author that I felt disconnected to the story, But I recommend if you like MC reads that you grab this one and take a chance.

AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING!

Debra Kayn takes the average person's perception of bikers and turns them upside down (our perceptions that is)!!

I always know going in that I will certainly enjoy a new book/series by this author. I just am never sure how much. But once again I am hooked by this 1st of a 5 book series. A series about a 5 man motorcycle club sworn to help the police when missing persons are reported, especially women and children.

Twins Clara and Gracie have returned to their roots to ask the Notus MC for help. They have just discovered, when their father dies, that their mother was murdered and the killer never found. Having bought a local bar where the MC men hang out, the girls set out to win them over and ask them to find and kill the murderer for money. However, what Clara and Gracie don't expect is for Clara to fall in love with the charismatic President of the MC, Wayne Shaw, a feeling reciprocated by Wayne for her.

Well written, incorporating another real life situation suffered by far too many families.

Hard Proof is the first title in the Notus MC series. This was my first time reading anything written by Debra Kayn, but I quite enjoyed this title and I am sure I will be on the look out for future titles in this series.

The Notus MC is a unique MC romance, in that it revolves around five men who form an MC, in the aftermath of a tragedy that affected their close knit group.

I thoroughly enjoyed the elements of intrigue and suspense, that flowed throughout the plot. The connection between the hero and heroine wasn't all that intense, and at times some of their behaviors were a bit on the frustrating side. I found the character to be strong, loyal, and overall endearing. As a twin, I really enjoyed that facet of the story line and could relate to the connection between the characters.

Overall an engaging and entertaining romantic suspense and MC romance, and I will look forward to the release of future titles in the Notus MC series.

I'm a huge fan of the Bantorus MC series but not so much of the other series from Debra Kayn. Due to that Ms Kayn dropped off from my reading radar for quite some time. When I saw the blurb for Hard Proof, it got me interested again.

This book leaves me with mixed bag feelings. I wouldn't call it an MC hardcore per se like Bantorus so it left me unbalanced for bit. There is also one scene where I think the proof reader or editor missed the mistake that Ms Kayn made , I had to reread that part a few times to make sure I didn't read the name wrong.

I must say though the mystery connections were really written well. The story has its flaws but it will not deter me from buying the 2nd book.

4 1/2 stars

I do love the way Debra Kayn writes a story, she gives depth to her characters that I really enjoy, I find when there's depth I get invested in the characters and the story line. This is a brand you series, starting off with Wayne and Clara, I really liked these two together, despite the lie from Clara (which I usually don't like for a plot line but is understandable here). This story has romance, affection, and suspense and it all written in such a way that I didn't want to stop reading but I also didn't want to rush it. Well done, I am curious to find out about the rest of the Notus Motorcycle Club stories)

Clara and her twin sister Gracie moved into town and bought a bar hoping to get in with Noctus MC and convince them to find their mother's killer after discovering the true circumstances of her death when their father passed away. Clara didn't count on falling in love with the leader of Noctus, Wayne.

I really loved the first book in the Noctus Motorcycle Club series! The suspense and mystery with the serial killer kept me on my toes, while the romance between Clara and Wayne was so sweet. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

I haven't read much motorcycle thrillers and romances, but I was very happy with this one! It had me hooked from page one and I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery behind it. The main characters Carla and Wayne are an adorable couple you can't help but root for! There were times when Carla was playing hard to get, trying to put her "mission" first, but you could tell the instant attraction was there and she wouldn't be able to help herself. All in all, I found Hard Proof to be a thrilling romance with mystery and humor!

I couldn't get into the female characters Clara and Gracie. They were too secretive and too missish. After the first sex scene with barely no build up, Clara has the following thought:

“She hated the few times in the past when men performed oral sex on her and then tried to kiss her mouth, forcing her to taste herself.”

Excerpt From: Kayn, Debra. “Hard Proof (Notus Motorcycle Club Book 1).” Debra Kayn, 2017-05-28T16:00:00+00:00. iBooks.

I wouldn't recommend this book.

Read this a while ago but the reading info on goodreads is gone again. Going to go back and reread before moving forward in the series - I think there's at least two more books now. Debra Kayn is one of my favorite authors, and her Bantorus MC books were one of the first MC books I read (I then backtracked in her backlist to pick up a few more MC books before the Bantorus ones).

The MC here is a group of heros trying to help those in distress.

Clara and Gracie are twins and determined to find the truth about their mother's fate. They buy Vavoom's bar and plan to befriend Notus MC and secure their help. Clara is attracted to Wayne Shaw, the club president, and he feels the same way but when a little girl and a teenager disappear Clara and Wayne need to be honest with each other about their past and their feelings or risk losing everything! Hard Proof is the first book in the new Notus MC series by the amazing Debra Kayn. Notus MC is dedicated in searching for missing persons and I found this really interesting and touching! Clara and Wayne have great chemistry and I loved the interaction between the twin sisters! A suspenseful and emotional read that kept me on the edge of my seat until the end!

This novel was a Motorcycle club romance/suspense/thriller. All three of these are my favorite types of books to read however for some reason I couldn't get on board with this novel. I felt like I should have been ale to connect with the characters better considering the storyline. This is a great novel if you are more plot driven and love suspense. I would still recommend picking up this novel if you love a good natured group of characters and a great storyline.

Wayne tries to do that right thing, but he's just so eager at times, "I should take you to my bedroom, but it's too effing far away," he said, reaching behind him." Wayne doesn't ask for much, "will you wear the apron with the hearts on the ***?" She nodded. He kissed her hard. "Then, I'll be there." I liked this book, Wayne was sexy and caring.

Great read!! Hard Proof was a perfect mix of mystery & romance. I loved watching the feelings between Clara & Wayne develop, even during stressful situations. And the bond between Gracie & Clara so touching.

I love forward to reading the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Excellent!!!!!!

This was a different type of MC story which I absolutely loved. Wayne and his crew were the bomb. Clara and Gracie were the epitome of the twin phenomenon. Wayne and Clara are so sweet. I really enjoyed that this couple were of a more mature age, not the late teen early twenty stuff. This series should be full of great exploits.
