Rainey must cast a spell to destroy vampires, but her girlfriend's been offered the opportunity of a lifetime--starring in a vampire show.

Rainey's always considered her powers a curse. She casts spells and sees the future--most of it anyway. Ever since she moved to Las Vegas, shadowy figures have hidden in her visions, and she's worried what she can't see will harm her girlfriend, Holly.

When Rainey is asked to cast a spell to destroy vampires, she realizes they're the blacked-out figures from her visions. But Holly's been given the opportunity of a lifetime, starring in a show on the Strip with a vampire band. Rainey must figure out what will hurt Holly more--casting the spell or handing her over to the vampires.

Kristen Strassel is far cooler than she’ll make herself sound in this bio. She enjoys spending time with the voices in her head—nudging the characters toward those bad decisions and a happily ever after. When she’s not writing, she’s often still in the land of make-believe—doing makeup for film and television. And when she’s not doing any of that, she enjoys making her house look like a Pinterest board, watching football, and road trips to the middle of nowhere.

A lesbian romance with a paranormal twist. The magic in this story is very specific to the heroines and works well together. There is some sex, but it is early in the romantic aspect (they have been friends and grew up together since they were kids) so there is some awkwardness and fumbling around. Although the enemy of this story is taken care of completely, there is the 'bigger conspiracy at play' ending to lead into book two. It was well written, but there wasn't anything I was interested in reading more of, so this is where I leave the series.

Only stardust could touch us. 5 FIERY STARS

WOW!! This is one SPECTACUFIRE story that shares how the Fire Dancer aka Holly, got her start & I thoroughly enjoyed every little bit of it!! Even - especially - in a shorter story, Kristen's FIRENOMENAL talent shines brilliantly from beginning to end and everything in between. Living this story through Rainey's eyes felt like I took center stage, seeing, breathing, panting, true Seeing, living and experiencing everything with, for and as her! That also gave me the opportunity of getting to know Holly from a unique and rare advantage - through the eyes of her best friend & lover. Now that I have read this prequel, I am so excited for & CANNOT wait to read, to experience, to LIVE more of Holly & Rainey's story as it continues in the Cirque Macabre series!!! It was Holly’s world, and we were simply living in it.
