From the outside, Stella Martin’s life seems perfect. A thriving yoga studio, wonderful girlfriends, and enough Mr. Right Now’s to keep her entertained should be plenty to keep her busy and happy. But her perpetual single status stirs up a nagging discontent. Too many strikeouts in a row leave her wondering if there really is a Mr. Right for her. He certainly can’t be Bastian Pierce, the workaholic tech genius who can’t relax, no matter how attractive he is. She’s been runner-up to a demanding job before. Never again. Bastian Pierce is a busy man. CEO of a tech unicorn that’s just gone public and “Billionaire Bachelor” to millions of viewers, Bas doesn’t have time to sleep, let alone stretch and meditate. But when his assistant badgers him into a private yoga session with a goddess, he is hooked. Maybe he should take more time for himself, especially if that time involves Stella and a tropical yoga retreat. But when complications chase them around the globe, their idyllic vacation and budding relationship are threatened. From high-pressure Silicon Valley to blissful Bali, Stella and Bas will push each other to bend and reach for what matters most.
As a young woman, Eva Moore loved nothing more than to dive between the pages of a romance and lose herself in the story. They were perfect for avoiding midterms and report cards. She even met her husband while reading a book. About the time the second baby came along though, she found she had little time for diving into anything but laundry. Missing her stories desperately, she began to make up her own. The stories she played with in her mind while she washed dishes and changed diapers eventually made their way onto the page, and she was hooked. Eva now lives in Silicon Valley, after moving around the world and back, with her college sweetheart, her three gorgeous girls, and two Shih Tzus who think they are cats. She can be found most nights hiding in her closet/office, scribbling away, and loves to hear from the outside world.
I went up and down with this book. In the end, I decided to give it a four because Eva took me on an emotional journey with Stella and Bas. I appreciate that in a story. I was engaged and involved. I cheered them on when things were going great and groaned when things were getting tense. I don't deem it perfect (there were many typos and punctuation errors), but I always give high marks when a book makes me feel strongly about the events and characters.
My biggest concern initially was Bali. As someone who lived 3/4ths of my life in Southeast Asia, I was wary of how a "visitor" would write about places that are familiar to me. Eva did it well. She took me there. I'm happy with how Bali came alive. I'm happy that she showed both the beauty and the trash that's destroying paradise. Terima kasih, Eva. Aku suka bukumu.
Three Strikes is the third book in Ms. Moore's Girls' Night Out series but there is no need to have read the previous books in order to enjoy this one.
Stella is a yoga instructor hired to help destress billionaire tech genius Bastian. Bastian is a workaholic, afraid of letting the company - which has just gone public - down. Enter Stella and her yoga techniques to get him to relax. A yoga retreat to Bali with Stella as his private instructor is just the key - any maybe he can find more than relaxation while there. But, when complications arise that threaten to destroy their budding relationship, they have to decide what's most important.
Ms. Moore takes the reader on an emotional journey as we follow the relationship of Stella and Bas. While there is an instant attraction between Stella and Bas, it doesn't translate into an instant easy relationship. Instead, the characters have to work through and overcome their preconceptions about themselves and each other. Every time it seems like this time, they have finally overcome that final hurdle, a new one appears, but this doesn't feel forced.
The trip to Bali was wonderful and Ms. Moore has clearly visited it as she brought it to life. I love the use of yoga as a means of coping with stress. The reminder that we do need to step back from our jobs and be there for our friends and family and loved ones is important, and not the only message that Ms. Moore gets across in this lovely romance. Perhaps my favorite part about this novel is that while Bas and Stella are opposites when it comes to how they work, they compromise and accommodate without changing who they fundamentally are.
This was a true joy to read and I'm now going back to read the previous books in this series.
Stella Martin is a woman who knows what she wants out of life, and won't settle for anything less than what she thinks she deserves. As a yoga instructor she makes her living helping people find a healthy balance between the stresses in life and relaxation. Only her newest client can't seem to slow down for longer than 5 minutes and seems to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. She's already lived through the pain of having one man put her second best to his career, she's determined to never let it happen again.
Bastian Pierce is CEO of ABStech and currently acting as CFO after his best friend was pushed out of the company by the board. He went into the tech industry because he loved developing and helping find ways to solve peoples problems. But lately he hasn't had an opportunity to do what he loves and his high blood pressure is proof of this. To appease his assistant and hopefully try to relax enough to get some sleep he agrees to private yoga sessions.
Stella and Bastian have an instant chemistry that is off the charts H-O-T, but Bastian ticks off too many of Stella's "strike list" and she's determined to keep him in the same category with the rest of her "Mr. Right-Now" but not Mr. Right. Bastian also has insecurities that stem from being picked on in high school due to him being so smart and jumping grades. When he does open up to get to know a woman he soon discovers they only like being attached to his name or money. Can these two overcome their negative past experiences to realize that they are perfect for each other? Will Stella see that Bastian needs her to help balance out his workaholic tenancies, but at the same time she needs him to help realize that working hard doing something you love for those you love doesn't mean you don't love your career more than your family?
Three Strikes is the third in Eva Moore's Girls' Night Out series. This story focuses on Stella Martin and Sebastian (Bas) Pierce. Stella owns a yoga studio, and doesn't just want to teach relaxation and balance, she aims to live that, having seen how being too driven and committed to one's work can have dire effects not only on one's health but one's relationships. Her life is pretty great, with the exception of not having a partner to share it with. For the time being, she's had a string of Mr. Right Nows, though none of them seem to be turning into Mr. Right.
Bas is not only not seeming a candidate for Mr. Right, he's not really even in the running for Mr. Right Now. He's the stepped-into-the-breach CEO of a newly IPOed Silicon Valley tech company, and is juggling hundreds of demands for his time and attention. He barely has time to breathe, much less find life balance. His well-intentioned assistant sees how much his personal life is suffering, and signs him up for a couple sessions with Stella for some relaxation coaching.
On the surface, Stella and Bas are oil and water. Aside from their incendiary chemistry and mutual attraction, it would seem they have pretty different goals in life. But as they spend time together working on helping Bas learn some much needed ways to put some restful mindful time into his life, they find that they may be more compatible than not.
Ms Moore does a terrific job of providing a taste of the high-pressure Silicon Valley setting, and balances that beautifully with well-written characters. Bas and Stella and their riotous emotions feel all too real, from their soaring highs to their vulnerabilities and private embarrassments.
Three Strikes is an excellent addition to the Girls' Night Out series, but also stands alone well. The main characters are well supported by the secondary cast, and I look forward to the next book in the series!
Stella and Sebastian come from two totally different worlds. She is a yoga instructor and he's a high powered tech executive in the media's focus. She is hired to help the boss bring his blood pressure under control and maybe regain a little control of his life. Doubting his interest every step of the way she reluctantly agrees to try. Eva Moore takes us on a journey of healing and wonder as we get to know these characters and share their adventures. I love this author! She makes me laugh, she draws me in and spins a tale worth reading every time! I've read several of her books and you can't miss with her as your guide. You'll fall for Stella and Bastian too!
What happens when 2 people come together and they are both complete opposites? These 2 end up going to a retreat in Bali. Bastian works, works and works while worrying about the company he ends up being in charge of. Stella is just the woman to help him learn to relax and detress from all the tensions in his life. This is about those 2 people learning about each other and their attractions for each other. I love happy endings and of course this one has it. I'm looking forward to book #4 and where it will take me next
I really like the story. The beginning was a little slow so it took a bit for me personally to get into. But once it started going, I couldn't put it down. I love Stella and everything she embraces in her life. And Bas isn't your typical Alpha, which is really nice to see because not all men are confident and Playboys. Really great story. I found that even though this is a girls night out story the girls aren't really in most of it like the others, which made it different in a good way.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is my favorite in the series so far! Stella is a yoga instructor that knows what she wants in life, and it's not a man like Bastian who's married to his job as a tech CEO. But when she's hired to help Bastian relax, he slowly gets past her defenses. These two characters really clicked. Sometimes their misunderstandings were frustrating, but they made sense given how different their approaches to life are. And I love a nerdy hero!
this was a first read and it was interesting. its about a woman who is trying to find mr. right. she meets a rich man while teaching yoga. will he be the lucky man? read to find out!thanks for giving a chance to read this book!
Stella and Bastian are drawn to each other despite not really seeming like they would fit together. This story takes you on a roller coaster ride of happy, sad, and even annoyed. I enjoyed this book. What drove me nuts the most were the spelling and grammar issues.
The third book in this series captured me from the beginning. Her characters are so well developed, and the dialogue that takes place from each was exciting and wonderful. If you are a true romantic and love HEA's I totally recommend this book.
I enjoyed this book which is the third in the series. It is Stella’s turn for romance when she gets the job of trying to prevent a CEO from burning out by teaching him yoga. This is hard to do in the office so his assistant books them into a retreat in Bali where they get very close. When a representative of a documentary company follows them and sends feeds out, it causes problems both business and personal and Stella is left in Bali on her own. It will take a lot to get them back together, will these 2 strong personalities find happiness in their lives? Can’t wait to read the next one.
