After rescuing a woman from the storm-tossed waters surrounding his family island, Hunter Lemaster grows suspicious of Chloe Markham’s motives for being out in the inclement weather. When his stranded guest exhibits signs of submissiveness and neglected need, her shy demeanor draws on the strict Dom side of him and he can’t resist giving her what she so desperately needs. Taking advantage of her vulnerable state, he uses his expertise to question her, but is still unable to get the full truth from her.

After returning to Charleston from her ill-fated trip to Magnolia Island, Chloe resigns herself to returning to La Rouge, the club her best friend introduced her to. After getting herself into a bind of her own making, Chloe is shocked when Hunter Lemaster swoops in to rescue her. The truth is now out about why she was so close to his island, and Hunter agrees to let Chloe accompany him back to Magnolia when his friends return so she can assist in their continued search for a murderer. A threat against Chloe at the end of the weekend proves they are on to something, and also convinces Hunter to keep Chloe close – for her safety and his pleasure.

I live in the Midwest with my husband and two dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, babysitting her two dogs, reading and working puzzles. We have traveled extensively, but I much prefer being a homebody.

I began writing erotic novels with an emphasis on erotic spanking five years ago never dreaming that I would get published. I just celebrated the release of my eleventh title and am very thankful to my publisher, Pink Flamingo, for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to enjoy a fun career. While my earlier books lean more towards straight erotica that will appeal to only a very select audience, my last five books are erotic romances. I enjoy hearing all comments from readers. Investigating the death of her best friend, Chloe Markham ends up stranded on a private island with Hunter Lemaster, when he rescues her from a storm. He knows she's lying about why she's there, and she knows that he was present when her friend died, so their relationship is complicated.

This is better than the first of Wane's Murder on Magnolia Island books. Chloe is smart and brave, and while their relationship moves way too fast (at least, if this were the real world), they are a good couple, at least once they're honest with each other. Plus, the mystery and romance plots are better integrated together in this story.

The second book in this murder mystery trilogy is captivating from start to finish. The author continues to lead us down the winding path to who murdered Lynn Baker, while focusing on Hunter and Chloe's story. Chloe is Lynn's best friend and is determined to find out who killed her. She sets sail for Magnolia Island and gives no thought to the weather or the storms brewing. Hunter is settling in for the storm and ready for some time alone until he sees someone in the water and has to rescue them from the stormy water. When these two meet, their connection is apparent, but for their own reasons, neither one is looking for what may be to come. Chloe has been hurt in the past, is dealing with insecurity issues, and has built up her walls to protect her heart. When Hunter asks her who she is and what she is doing on his island, her instincts lead her to lying and avoiding in order to continue protecting herself as well as looking for Lynn's killer. Hunter is a strict Dom with good instincts. He can tell that Chloe is not being forthcoming but wants for her to open up to him on her own. Can these two closed off people help each other and find their way? Can they figure out who killed Lynn Baker? Come read and find out.

Between the storms coming through, getting to know new people, mistrust among friends, BDSM, and lust, love surrounds these characters as they try to figure out who killed Lynn Baker and why. This mystery intrigues the reader to continue reading while waiting for the arrival of book three to see how all this mystery works out. I highly recommend this action packed BDSM mystery! I voluntarily reviewed and advanced reader copy of this book.

AND THE PLOT THICKENS

My, oh my, we get deeper into this mystery, and still must wait for answers. The murder of Lynn is still full of dead ends, unanswered questions, multiple suspects, questionable secret relationships, and the deeper they search, they more unsure they become. Not only that, the lives of others are now in jeopardy.

Another private party weekend on the island is supposed to allow the Lemasters a chance to watch their friends and see if they possibly can determine who might have had a grudge or tryst with Lynn that leads to her death. When heavy tropical storms are coming their way, the guest must leave early to get back safely to Charleston, leaving Hunter and the two veteran caretakers to stay on the island.

Chloe Markham was best friends with Lynn, and she is determined not to rest until the murderer is caught and justice has been served. Lynn introduced Chloe to the BDSM lifestyle and Club La Rouge, where she became involved with a Dom named Jake. After Chloe was in an automobile accident that damaged her knee, requiring surgery and pins, Jake told her she was useless as a sub and broke their two-year D/s relationship. Reeling from the accident, the breakup, then the death of Lynn has made her determined to get answers. Meeting up with Kim and Molly also subs at La Rouge, they tell her they can get her invited to join the party on Magnolia if she just shows up.

The plot will have Hunter looking out to the sea and seeing a boat in trouble during the storm. Rescuing the woman and bringing her into the house has him angry with her foolishness. Getting honest answers won’t happen over their two days riding out the storm. Not wanting to give away her friends, she refuses to tell Hunter why she is there. Hunter recognizes from Chloe’s demeanor that she is a submissive and takes her to task. Getting Chloe back to Charleston is one thing, but having her haunt Hunter’s thoughts is unsettling. Learning more about her will have him pursuing her.

Hunter is a player, but there is something about Chloe that makes him want an exclusive relationship. Chloe is willing to accept whatever he is willing to give after he proves he cares about her as a person and not just a submissive to use. Another weekend on the island with the rest of those present during the weekend Lynn was killed will bring more questions than answers. Jealousy, mistrust, angst, anger, mysterious phone calls, threats, and more will keep this tale in suspense. New threats will have the Lemaster men on high alert, especially when it comes to the welfare of Melanie and Chloe.

While the story does not end with resolutions, it isn’t a total cliffhanger either, and the next book, Ryder, will be the final story in this trilogy and to learn who the killer is and why. The story is full of BDSM, spanking, exhibition, and explicit sex scenes.

Hunter is the second book in BJ Wane’s Magnolia Island series and I tell you what...I thought I wanted Logan LeMaster all for my very own, but Hunter? *sighing longingly* I’ll tell you, I’m very jealous of Chloe. So far this series has been positively phenominal, and I love that there isn’t a long lag time between books. One month is doable for a suspense series, and I’m just chomping at the bit to find out who the killer is.

Hunter fishes Chloe out of the water when she foolishly takes a boat out in a storm, though truth be told, if having Hunter rescue me was the outcome, I’d probably do it as well! Chloe has a poor self image of herself due to being curvy and having a bum knee thanks to a car accident. Her last dom kicked her to the curb for both.

After Hunter finds her in the play area, he takes advantage of her submissiveness and his attraction to attempt to get answers from her, but she’s stubborn. Lucky for her, Hunter is even more so. Chloe just happens to have been friends with Lynn, the sub who was murdered, and she wants answers. Hunter and Chloe get closer, but Hunter also worries that Chloe may become a target.

So. Who is the killer? Or killers? Sadly, no answer here. Though, I honestly don’t know that I’m too sad that I didn’t find a concrete answer, because that means we get another book, after all, there is still another LeMaster...Bring on Ryder Lemaster next! Yes Please!

This is the second of a trilogy centering on three family members/Doms who meet their girlfriends/subs while solving a murder that took place at the family members' house. While each is a standalone in terms of the couple, the mystery stretches over all three books so they do need to be read in order.

I skimmed the others, so will only review this one. I wanted to read it because in a genre fixated on youth, health, and the sub's ability to perform BDSM postures perfectly, Ms. Wane actually gives us an h whose knee injury means that she can't. This was refreshing since, generally, I find these books very ableist.

That said, the h has so little personality and was such a masochist (and not in a "good" way) that it was hard to believe that she had the wherewithal to perform her job (trauma nurse). While I understand that Ms. Wane wanted to present an extreme D/s dynamic, if you're going to do it at the expense of creating an interesting character, then don't do it.

Finally, the prose was inordinately repetitive. Every other page, we were told that the h had a plan, what that plan was, why she was implementing it, and who (including names) was helping her. Tip to authors: trust your readers to retain basic information. I skimmed a lot of this book and, thus, wasn't interested in reading the volume before or after it.

This book follows “Logan,” the first book in the “Murder on Magnolia Island” series – and the series will conclude with a third book. It describes a love affair between Hunter, cousin of Logan, and Chloe, an ER nurse who has suffered a serious car accident and cannot bend her left knee. As a result, she lost her previous BDSM boyfriend and when she accidentally meets Hunter, he quickly recognizes her submissive nature and an affair begins. There is a lot of sex and spanking in the book. The book is fast paced and well written, but without reading Logan first, it won’t make as much sense although the prologue tries to make up for that by filling in some of the story from Logan. Like Logan, it leaves the story unfinished as the murder mystery around which so much of the action revolves will be resolved in the last book in the series, “Ryder.”

I love when a book surprised me. I didn't realize this was the second book in a trilogy until the end.
I liked Hunter and Chloe's almost immediate chemistry, and the way Hunter was able to intuit
Chloe's pain (both physical and emotional) and move to do something about it.

The book has a steady pace that will keep you fully engaged from beginning to end with its intensity. This is a romantic, sexy, mystery, suspenseful, BDSM theme rolled into one book.

Although the murder is not resolved in this book, and, there seems to be another mystery lurking in the background, Hunter can be read as a standalone. I am going to go back and read Book 1 while I wait for Book 3-Ryder to come out in June.

Hot and sensual

Hunter rescues Chloe who is or was a friend of Lynn the girl who was murdered, that weekend hunter couldn’t get the truth out of her but he knew she had secrets and he was determined to find out, however he didn’t expect to care for this new stranger and although the “L” word never came it’s getting obvious he’s heading that way and she I’m sure feels the same, they have their suspicions Max is acting odd and so is Chris then finding that note st the end of the weekend has fingers pointing but in what direction, I’m off to read the conclusion Ryder and find out what is wrong with Jim the boys uncle. I recommend this book that needs to be read in sequence

I received an ARC copy for an honest review. This was a great sequel in the Murder on Magnolia Island book series. I didn’t read the first one but I want to go and read it now! I could follow along and understand this sequel with no problem. The author does a great job of continuing the mystery storyline, while at the same time introducing some new characters. The hero and heroine in this story were well developed, entertaining and very likeable. I was rooting for their HEA the whole time! The author did a great job of intertwining the BDSM, DD and mystery/romance plot. I highly recommend this book! I can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out!

The second in this trilogy, this book continues the mystery and focuses on Lemaster brother, Hunter, and the victim's friend Chloe. Hunter is a strict Dom who plays but doesn't stay. Chloe has been burned and guards her heart. But the chemistry is sizzling and draws them together. It's a well written book. Read "Logan" first- not only is it a good book but it has needed background. I think this book ended a little abruptly and wrapped up the relationship a little too quickly and neatly given both of their reservations- but there is a third book to look forward to!! This is the second book in series and first one I read. Since meant to be a mystery solved in 3 books I recommend read books in order even though there is some background given in beginning of the book. I found the characters developed and engaging. I love a good mystery especially if it keeps my attention which this book did. Also, of course, this book has hot erotic sex and spanking scenes. Read this book only in order and if plan on finishing a good mystery, not just for the hot sex. story has an interesting plot.

Another hot book from BJ Wane, this is the second book in this series and I can't wait for the 3rd one. The characters are relatable and interesting and the plotline is great. I keep thinking it is someone and then the next moment it is someone else that killed Lynn in the first book, I can't seem to make up my mind who did it and why.Great book but I think it should be read after the first one in the series to get the most out of this one. It was a dark and violent storm that introduced Hunter and Chloe. Hunter is a stricter Dom than his brothers and sets his sights on Chloe.
Chloe is a woman recently betrayed, injured and has suffered severe emotional trauma and loss. She is a woman cast adrift and sinking without submission to ground her. Brought together over an unsolved murder, danger is still all around. Hunter takes Chloe and gives her everything she needs and in turn he finds something he didn't know was missing from his life. Hot, sexy and satisfying!

Stormy Beginning

This three part series is just a bit dragging on and on. This story starts off repeating the first part of the last story when to be honest it would be better if the part of the story involving the murder was not repeated over and over. I enjoyed this story okay but it seemed a little laidback for a hard strict Dom. He seems to be very laidback with his storm tossed visitor. One other aspect is you keep getting little clues to who maybe responsible for the murder but in the end it isn't really any closer to who is responsible.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. The mystery of the murder of Lynn Baker continues in this 2nd book in the series. Chloe's plan is to crash a party on the Island and try to find out who killed her best friend Lynn. It doesn't quite work out that way, but luckily, Hunter is there to save her. He is a strong, protective Dom who likes being single and she is a sub who has been burned. Good read. BDSM, spanking, anal play.

Second book in this trilogy & the story continues strong. I really liked Hunter's character & just loved how his personality worked out with Chloe. While this story is standalone it didn't really have that HEA feeling for me so I'm hoping that the final book gives me that 'completed' feel. With the inclusion of a number of characters it really is difficult to guess the conclusion to the mystery.

Liked this book

But so far this series seems a little harsh. The "doms" are plain mean and bossy and the subs are way too submissive. This is just my opinion, of course. The relationships that develop aren't strong but more out of submission or convenience. I like the murder mystery that's been carried over from the first book, but NO new clues were discovered in this book, so the mystery is still where it was in the first book which is disappointing.

A wonderful second book in this trilogy. Chloe is dealing with a lot in her life including the death of her friend. Hunter is missing something in his life, he finds his missing pience when he meets Chloe. I loved how Hunter made Chloe feel good about herself again. And there is still a muder mystery to solve. The plot thickens in this book. I look forward to reading the last book.

Another page turner

I have been reading this genre on and off for a number of years. It is a nice brain break after a stressful day. This book series has been very enjoyable. Just enough mystery to intrigue but not enough to change the expected pattern of girl meets boy, angst of insecurities arise, hot sex ensues, they figure it out, HEA.

Great suspense trilogy! Who doesn't love a strict but caring Dom? The commitment at the end to keep Chloe safe while continuing to explore their growing feelings was spot on given Hunter & Chloe's short involvement. Can't wait for the conclusion!

I love BJ Wane and this book delivers her trademark kinky fun. The second in a series, if you leave out the unsolved mystery, this book can be read alone as it does have a complete HEA. I really enjoyed this book.

A great sequel in this series. This is
Hunter's and Chloe's story.Chloe is
determined to find answers about
her best friends death while she
was attending a private party on
Magnolia Island.She sets out to
the island on her boat in bad weather,
if not for the fact that Hunter comes to
her rescue she would have drowned.
Chloe keeps her motive secret from
Hunter but he punished her for lying
to him.Chloe is a broken soul.After
a accident her Dom throws her away.
She feels worthless and is scared to
open her heart again.Hunter does
not need any complications in his life,
but can't help having feelings for
Chloe. They are still no closer to finding
out who was responsible for Lynn's
death. This story delivers on so many
fronts,a interesting storyline,great characters
and lots of kink. The author did a good job
at portraying Chloe's insecurities.The
secondary characters added depth to the
