An easy, quick read with a simple mystery, the first I've read in the series. (I know, way out of order considering this the 48th installment, but cover was both compelling and needed for a challenge!) Lots of places where commas were missing. Came across other editing issues, as well. A decent read, however.
Blueberry Spangled Murder is the 48th installment in Susan Gillard’s Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series. This is an easy, fun, clean read. The author indicates that this book is typo free with no grammar issues; however, errors are present and proofing rather than relying on spell check should be employed.
Heather and Ryan are hosting a Memorial Day BBQ for their friends when Ryan is called away to investigate an explosion and death. The victim is Ed Templeton, a scientist, who enjoyed inventing things and making improvements to his grill. Ryan, Heather ad Amy work together to try to determine if the grilling accident caused the explosion and his subsequent death, it was a mechanical issue, or if someone altered it to murder him.

Memorial Day has arrived in Hillside. Detective Ryan Shepherd has taken off the day. Heathers Shepherd, his wife, owner of Donut Delights shop and certified private investigator, is having a picnic. Amy Givens, Heather's best friend and certified private investigator, is bringing her boyfriend, Jamie. Eva and Lelia along with Lilly Shepherd, her friend Nicolas, Dave the dog and Cupcake the cat are all at the gathering. Heather has created a Blueberry Spangled donut for this occasion. Heather notices a plume of heavy smoke on the horizon. Turns out a grill exploded and went up in flames. But there is a casualty.... the chef griller who is owner of the home, Ed Templeton. Ed was a scientist who loved to make his own improvements to the grill. So now the Shepherd and Amy need to determine if the exploding grill was accidental or planned. Who would want Ed dead??? Creative plot with an interesting, colorful characters make this a quick, enjoyable read. This is book # 48 in the Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series. I volunteered to read this eBook. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my o
Heather has created a Stars and Stripes donut this year for Memorial Day and it sure sounds scrumptious! She and her husband have both decided to take Memorial Day off and spend it with family. Yeah, right. Kudos to Susan Gillard for coming up with such a unique way to kill someone. Heather and her bestie, Amy, are called in to assist the police department. I like seeing how much Heather and Amy have grown into their jobs and now keep the police better informed. Thanks for such a wonderful book to read. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I thought this was just an okay book. It took me a while to get into it and I didn't think the mystery was all that great. There were definitely a lot of editing issues but I think that was because the book was kind of rushed for the holiday, Memorial Day. I can't wait to read the next book but I wish there was some kind of consistencies between the books. I'm trying to figure out why James is still feeling uneasy with Heather and Ryan. It just seems like something that was happening from 10 books ago but it's still bothering him now. Hopefully the next book will be better because this just was kind of a bore and I struggled to get through it.
This is the 48th in the series. In this one Heather and her family are having a cookout and they see see a flash of light and then smoke. They thought it might be something for them . It turns out that Ryan is called in and then he calls in Heather and Amy. This is something new they think. An explosion of a grill. Not long before they see it is really the same old thing. They figure it out and it surprised me. Love this series.
A special donut to have for the Memorial Day. They have been filling orders ahead so they all could enjoy the day. Heather will have husband Ryan , with family and friends for the day. Seeing smoke, and then hearing the sirens, and knew it wasn’t from firecrackers. A malfunctioning grill, Ed a scientist, loved to tinker with it, and invent things. But, why murder. This murder was more involved with an investigation, and well done. Another in series to enjoy.
Heather is enjoying her Memorial Day with friends and family. Ryan gets a phone call of a grill exploding and someone was killed. Accident or murder!? Heather and Amy are back investigating. Would one of the victims family want him dead or is it someone else. Suspects, donuts and always interesting with Heather and friends.

Another great story by Susan Gillard. Heather, Ryan, Lilly and the rest of the gang are ready for a holiday weekend when Ryan gets a call from the station. Heather and Amy are called in shortly after and they are off and running on another case.
The adventures of Heather, Amy, Ryan and the gang are still fun to read even after so many books. Can't wait for the next one.
Heather, Ryan and friends have plans for a holiday cookout, but when a neighbor's grill explodes they quickly find themselves in the midst of another murder investigation.
All your favorite characters return as this long running series continues. If you're looking for a clean, quick read with some interesting characters, the Donut Hole series fits the bill.
The plot is surprising and the characters well defined. Murder doesn't stop Heather and Amy from having a good family day. A very unusual type of murder, a yummy new donut and a good cast of characters make to a good read. Looking forward to the next story.
You never know what Heather and Amy will get into or come up with. The mysteries and donuts get better and better with each book. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
I enjoyed the book, however, as with out a confession this case wouldn't have been solved. Everything is circumstantial and there is no proof to point the finger at any one. I really don't like books like this because with out the confession it would have never gone to court. I know there are cases like that in the real world, but it bothers me.
We got to see the other characters more in this book which was nice. Though there wasn't much character development in this book, I still love seeing the ever expanding characters in this book.
Overall,it was a fine book. Just could have been a bit better.
