Love 101 #2

Sophisticated Sophomore

Rate this book

Laila Jackson survived freshman year at Lee University, a historically black college and university in Tallahassee, Florida. Now summer is over, and she’s signed up for another grueling course load.

Luckily, Laila has the perfect distraction from her studies! She and her boyfriend, Chris, are closer than ever. Together, the two of them survived the machinations of Chris’s unstable ex-girlfriend, Courtney—but she’s not done with them yet.

While attending a football game with Lee University’s rival, A&T, Laila is surprised by the appearance of an old acquaintance. Throughout high school, Laila always had a crush on Josh, the brother of her best friend, Tanya. She thought he never saw her as more than Tanya’s friend, but their chance meeting changes her mind!

Suddenly, Laila is in the middle of a love triangle. Josh is finally interested in being more than just friends, but she and Chris have worked hard to build a solid relationship. Courtney’s meddling further complicates Laila’s relationships.

In this second book in the Love 101 series, Laila faces difficult new challenges. She’s no longer a naïve freshman, but she still has a lot to learn when it comes to matters of the heart.

Better than the first

Wasn’t bad but very pg 13.. the story held me to the end. I like the fact that this book didn’t drag stories out .. short and to the point. Now on to the next story summer fling

Sophomore Love

As stated in the previous book, I'm not feeling Laila and Chris relationship, yet he's her "first" and it seems that all they do is have sex. I get it, yet I just think there's no real substance there.

Chris family seems real cool and I like that his brother, Bryan, is real with Laila when he says she needs to live it up more. Chris seems like he's at a lose when it comes to how to protect Laila from his crazy ex, Courtney. This chick needs some mental help and quick😬. I don't like that he broke up with Laila, yet I think he feels that's all he can do to truly protect her.

Laila needs to let Chris go. I agree with her friends and mom when they say she needs to be single for a while to get herself together. Although I like Josh, he's too good of a guy for just being a rebound. I like that Laila is honest with him about not being over Chris. Josh has been a good friend over the years, so I'm glad she at least has that with him.

I'm so glad all the friends, Monica, Jennifer, Nicole and Tanya are maturing. I like that Tanya is doing good as a young mom and still completing college. Nicole is coming around and I liked her attitude way better in this book than the first. Monica is such a sweetheart and you can't help but want great things for her. Jennifer is in a weird emotional phase it seems, so I'm curious to see how her character unfolds as the series progresses.

The whole ordeal with Professor Douglas was a bit unexpected. Sad that things ended how they did.

This series picked up quite a bit in this book. Now, onto this Summer Fling😏.

Good read.

Mr Charismatic with Serpentine Tendencies

Hmmm 🤔? …I have numerous unanswered questions…regarding Chris! “Sophisticated Sophomore (Love 101 - Book 2) was a good read and definitely entertaining, yet frequently annoying. Why, Chris Clark⁉️..I just don’t trust him! I’ve been suspicious of Chris’ motives & vague explanations since book 1. There’re elements of the charismatic persona Mr Chris Clark has deliberately obscured from Laila, her roommates & the general “LU” and community. Thereafter, I suspect too, Bryan (Chris’ brother), Sean (who likes Laila & Chris’ frat) and or the unnamed male Professor (pg. 159ish) “tell Chris I said hello” one of three intriguing dynamics which will exposed Chris and his “golden child image”. Sadly, Laila learned two valuable & difficult lessons simultaneously: her cookies aren’t a bargain chip & there are no guarantees in romantic love/relationships. …you’v experienced heartbreak again. Now you’ve officially dodged two bullets! …both with serpentine tendencies!

Sophisticated sophomore

Reading the continuation of three girls journey At L.U. was an emotional roller coaster. Ms Nichole delivers their journey beautifully and will have you rooting for the girls and some of their love infers to wanting to knock someone out aka Courtney. Definitely read this series you will not be disappointed.

Love

I loved it I couldn't put it down I feel like it was very well written as well which is a plus. I'm excited what's next in the next novel he fully Laila just takes time to just focus on herself although I do want to see how things between her and josh turns out . I definitely will be reading more books by this author!!

Good

Good read. I need for someone to handle ms Courtney. I know Chris is the hero, but I don’t feel his feelings for Laila. Is it true?

one of the reviews of the book said it best, it’s PG-13. I needed a little more spice to it for me. Good premise though just lacking that extra umph for me.

Enjoyed this following on from the first. I’m not as desperate to read the next so maybe I enjoyed the introduction to the characters rather than the continuing story.
