Kris writes sizzling contemporary romance, pure and simple. Well, maybe not that pure! They're sexy stories about couples who fall in love, and into bed along the way, just like real people do.

The Scarlet Bay series about the billionaire Wynn family consists of Summer Sparks, Summer Secrets, and Summer Spice.

Her South & Sexy books are set in her capital city of Wellington so she can make use of the beautiful harbor in the plots.

Her Heartlands series follows the girls who live deep in the New Zealand countryside.

Her all-time bestseller is 'Taken By The Sheikh', and there's 'Desired By The Sheikh' too.

She's now writing the Merry Summerfield cozy mysteries - lots of cats and dogs and amateur sleuthing. The first title is Murder in the Aisle, followed by Xmas Marks the Spot, Murder! they Meowed, and Body! they Barked.

For good measure, she's cloned herself! You'll now find some of her books in new, much sweeter editions under the author name of Kerri Peach.

Kris/Kerri is an advertising copywriter and a decor specialist, and the author of 'The Boat Builder's Bed', of which more than two million were downloaded free. Giving away this taste of her work kick-started sales of all her other novels.

Five of her novels are available in Spanish. There's a Spanish version of her website http://www.krispearson.com - click the flags at the top right of it to change languages.

The Boat Builder’s Bed was a surprisingly addictive read. When I first started reading this story, I wasn’t quite sure how much I would enjoy it. I was intrigued and wanted to know more, but I wasn’t sucked under the spell for quite some time. As the story started to progress, I gradually found myself slipping deeper and deeper into the world.

It’s very much a story that grows on you. It’s a book where the little things make you fall in love with the story. It’s the accumulation that is so enjoyable, watching as all the small parts finally click into place and you realise the story had you.

Truthfully, my rating is more of a three-point-five star rating than a three star rating. I spent quite a bit of time debating whether I was to give this one three stars or four stars. Due to my level of addiction, a part of me wished to give it four stars. However, when I stopped to think about it, I realised it wasn’t quite at the rounding up stage.

For me, what prevented me from rounding up was the ending. I enjoyed watching as the many elements of the story slowly came together, but when we reached the ending things felt a bit rushed. Everything occurred at once, preventing the individual elements from hitting quite as hard as they could have. It was a fun ending, but it didn’t pack the punch it should have. Compared to the rest of the book it felt over too quick, as though it wasn’t quite given the same consideration and detail. If it had been spread out a bit more, had there been more detail, I would have rounded up to four stars instead.

Nevertheless, this was an addictive read. It was enjoyable enough to pass a short time period, and I’d certainly consider reading more of the author in the future.

There are many qualities that i liked about this book.

*Hot in Pursuit of a hero
*Independent heroine
*Both H and h in the same page when it came to their relationship
*A Hero willing to declare the heroine as his in front of his bitchy ex-wife
*Sexual tension
*Hot graphic sex scene
*Boat builder as a hero (That`s new!)

So why couldn`t i rate this book any higher...?

I read "The Wrong Sister" (6:th book in the "Wicked in Wellington" series) by Kris Pearson years ago, and i remember really loving it so i have now come back many years from that on to now read the first book in the series "The Boat Builder's Bed" about the newly divorced sexy Boat Builder Rafe Severino and the ex-assistant of his ex-wife Sophie Calhoun who works ambitiously to provide for her 5-year old daughter. Fate pulls them instantly together where a shimmering desire between them grows to something neither of them could imagine.
KP might have started off right with the storyline..but soon enough i just got lost and wondered what KP even wanted to deliver when it came to the actions of H and h. The Author could have delivered it all so much better but she somehow made it cheap. Thinking that i knew the characters i soon didn`t know them at all, which left me frustrated at times.

I do not see myself as a professional writer (GOD NO,FAR FROM IT) but i see myself as a professional reader, and the writing of this book just sometimes left bitter taste in my mouth.
For that, honestly, this book was actually a waste of my time but i do overall like it as i actually didn`t get bored with the romance between Rafe and Sophia.

Libro descartado.

Well, well, well...

This ebook was SENSATIONAL! I absolutely ADORED it, I LOVED the characters, the plot was FANTASTIC, and the characters are the type that stay in your mind FOREVER!

Front Cover.
I had the Kindle edition, so front cover doesn't count!

It's about...
Rafe Severino and the charming Sophie. Rafe, a successful business man who was brought up under the care of his grandparents, rather than his actual parents has a long-bearing grudge upon the people who were supposed to care most about him. He just can't wrap his head around how people can do that to their own flesh and blood. With a bank full of a money and newly divorced, he's planning to design his own home and hire an interior decorator to fill in the gaps for him.

Sophie had no other option but to place her daughter Camille under the care of her own mother due to work, low funds and not being able to spend enough time with her. As much as she wants to be with her daughter, Sophie is trying to start off her interior design business, known as 'Subtle', and travels back and forth to her mother's house every Sunday to visit her daughter. She knows herself that it's not enough, but she's planning to bring her right back home one day, she just needs a little something to rocket her business to the moon.

When Rafe and Sophie meet by chance one windy morning outside Sophie's business place, it's as if the stars have aligned. As plans start to fall into place and Rafe invites Sophie to be the decorator for his million dollar home, the chemistry is bouncing back and forth between them like a ping pong ball. There's tons of intense, passionate moments between these two, although it does take a while for Sophie to finally give in to this Italian man's persuasion, I mean, come on, once you get the image of him in your mind, you're kinda' sat there wondering how on earth she has got this far without cracking... ;)

The characters were...
AMAZING! I loved them all! Rafe especially, with his powerful and domineering ways! The emphasis on his "physical appearance" just puts you in a trance, and you can't help but think of what a lucky lady Sophie is to have him fawning over her like a love-stricken heartthrob!

Sophie is such an endearing character, working her damned hardest to earn enough money to bring her daughter and mother closer to her! She loves her daughter to the moon and back, and the phone calls between them all are just adorable. You can tell that she just wants her baby girl close to her again, and I think that's what gives her her determination to gain success!

Did the author pull it off?
Yes, definitely! It was a beautiful story, a beautiful mix up of two complete opposite worlds :)

Surely there must have been one bad point?
Erm, okay, the one bad point for me was Rafe's stupid-ass ex-girlfriend. What is it with jealous ex's? You didn't want him, but now you see someone else has caught his eye, you're all over him like a bad f*cking rash. Get out of here!

Final thoughts?
I LOOOOOOOVED IT!!!
Huge thumbs up to the author, this is definitely a book to read! <3

Sophie is on the verge of opening her own decorating business, Subtle. She hopes that this will be her big break. She always had to settle for the cheaper things in life, so she could set aside every penny she had to spare. She saved the money to set up her own company and to send to her mother, who raises Sophie's daughter Camille. On Subtle's opening day she meets Rafe. Rafe is a very successful boat and yacht builder and he needs a decorator for his new home. Does Sophie have what it takes to land such an important assignment?

Sophie was very young when Camille was born and it devastated her to leave Camille with her mother until finding the financial stability to take care of her herself. Rafe didn't feel loved by his parents when he grew up. He was raised by his grandparents and Rafe is a strong believer of the idea that children need to live with their parents. Sophie and Rafe have an instant attraction towards each other. She was his the moment their eyes met, just as much as he is hers. Every day they grow closer together, but how can Sophie tell Rafe that her daughter lives with her mother?

The Boat Builder's Bed is a sweet story about two people who deserve a second chance at love. Sophie is such a strong woman and even though Rafe is a billionaire she isn't fazed by his money and stands up for herself when she needs to. I love to read about strong females and caring alpha men. Rafe is used to getting what he wants and he's ready to settle down. It was endearing to read about how much he starts to care for Sophie in such a short time and how he immediately knows he has found his match. There's an obstacle though, Sophie is scared he won't understand her choices and I was wishing for her to find the courage to trust this amazing man. Kris Pearson knows how to write an addictive and compelling love story. She's a new author for me and I already can't wait to read more of her books.

I picked up this book when scouring Amazon for books set in New Zealand. It's the first I've read by this author so I was super excited. Too much so, perhaps?

The first 60% of the story was a rather long, slow trudge for me. The part about her daughter irked me, and ironically ended up saving the story in my eyes. The last 30% of the story bumped this up from an average read (3 stars) to a very good story (4 stars)

FOOTNOTE, which didn't factor into my rating. Okay, perhaps it did a tinsy-tiny bit.

Although the story is set in NZ, the terminology is not always authentic! While it irked me that terms like Mom instead of Mum were used, I understand the majority of readers are from the US so the author is probably trying to cater to them.

He'd been encouraged to exact revenge on his parents' decision to disown him. But it had left him guarded and alone. Far from the life full of love, laughter and family he so desired. Despite being intelligent, humorous, persistent and delectable, Rafe was a man in pain.

She had a secret that she didn't want to keep, but felt if revealed, would cost her the secure world she was desperate to create. Sophie Calhoun oozed strength, warmth, fun and intelligence - a wonderful character, determined to resist Mr 'sex on a stick' Rafe Severino.

Together, as sizzling sexual tension swirled around them, the pull of their individual desires mingled with their joint passion and possible joint future. Unless secrets are exposed, not told, condemned not forgiven.

Coupled with believable, witty dialogue, heart wrenching storyline and strong like able characters, A Boat Builder’s Bed ticked many boxes for me. It was fun, sad, poignant, beautifully descriptive and sexy. The conflict was raw and the character insight compelling. I liked the subtle shifts between POV and the beautiful images of New Zealand in which it was set. I liked the story.

There were a few areas I would have loved for the author to go further, deeper and provide more resolution. Despite that, it was a well-written romance with an interesting descriptive prose.
‘He'd been sensual and playful - and then he'd taken her with such hunger and intensity that her emotions whirled around like debris in a roaring hurricane.’

My one frustration was the cover of the version I read. Why have a dark haired model for a blonde heroine, and a pale skinned male for a quarter Cherokee Hero? Not a biggy, but it was noticeable. I was in my happy place reading the Epilogue of course - greedy reader that I am! I will be back for more of author Kris Pearson’s work.

The book was so-so. I wasn't even going to write a review but I feel the need to defend Sophie after reading all the other user reviews. Personally, I thought Sophie was a far better character than Rafe. Rafe was too prejudiced from the outset. What grown man is still harboring such prejudice at his age? Get over it already. "Boo-hoo. My mommy doesn't love me. Waaa." Really?

Then, to judge Sophie without hearing her side and abandon her at the party IN FRONT OF HIS EX-WIFE. No Bueno. He could have at least played it off until they were alone then demanded answers. Not that any of it was his business to begin with.

Plus, business aside, I haven't seen my ex in over 15 years. How do people keep socializing with exes. Make a clean break people.

Sophie wasn't a real catch either but she was better than him. At least she didn't throw herself at him like a tart. I admire her willpower. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I like her. Considering she's been alone ever since her ex died, she's had to make some hard choices and she has risen to the occasion. She deserved to give herself a break and finally give in to him and a chance at happiness, even if it didn't last. You go girl! Good for you!

The story itself moved a little too slowly in the beginning. I didn't really get Rafe's fascination with Sophie. His actions seemed like he just wanted sex but his thoughts said something different. Usually you only see the h's side of things. Hearing his side didn't work in this book, especially since his thoughts were just thrown in randomly. Maybe if they separated each of their thoughts by chapter it would have worked better. I don't know. But the first half of the book was something of a snore for but but then kept getting better.

Overall it was a good effort. I will read other books by this author.

1.5 stars. This was a free book so I thought why not. The story sounded interesting. The H Raff was great. A man abandoned as a child by his parents B.C. he didn't look like everyone else. WTF!!!# you can't pick and choose which genes a child is going to pull from. I was appalled at what his mother and father did to him. Then he marries a materialistic non mothering women who waits 6, yes 6 years to tell him she doesn't want children and she's been taking bcp all along...whew he deserves love respect and someone who wants what he wants out of life, marriage, children a family are what matters to him. Insert our h Sophie she's a single mom( keeps her child a secret) who allows her mother to raise her daughter so she can get her life and business straight. I had little sympathy for Sophie, I mean I'm a mom and under no circumstances would I give my child away. I get wanting to better yourself and starting a business is hard but options don't include giving your child away to do it. Life is about struggles and comprises. How do you overcome adversities if you give up what's most precious to you to achieve your goals, how do you learn to live if giving up is how you go forward.? Now I won't pretend to know what it's like to be a single mom or what I would do or give up to help my child but I just can't fathom living without them. I know walk a mile in their shoes and all that, but I just couldn't connect with Sophie b.c. of this. Had potential just couldn't get past Sophie' s choices.

Looking for a light, pleasant story, I read this book last night, but was quite disappointed. I know the romantic genre has traditional and "necessary" elements - the nasty ex-wife/girlfriend, the gorgeous hunk with childhood/military/whatever issues (naturally!) and the misunderstood heroine who has secrets of her own. The Boat Builder's Bed had all of these, but unfortunately, for me they did not amalgamate into a satisfying read.

From the beginning, the characters could only think about lusting after each other's bodies, so much so that at least 90% of the book depicted this. The other 10% had a few background characters - the heroine's daughter and mother, a few paragraphs devoted to the heroine's best friend, but the rest was filled with sexy thoughts and/or rampant sex. I realise that the novel was not supposed to be an in-depth read, but there was nothing else to it.

The other aspect which really annoyed me, as an Australian, was the Americanisms - "mom" and "butt" - probably included for the American market. I think Americans are quite able to work out what "mum" and "bum" stand for, so I wish the author had remained true to, what I have to assume from reading her bio, her New Zealand nationality.

This was a free Kindle read. Interesting story. The language was a little odd as it takes place in New Zealand. I wanted to dope slap Sophie for not telling Rafe "her big secret" and almost messing up a really good thing.Nut it was a nice switch that it was the girl I wanted to slap instead of the guy. Definitely worth reading.

Putting this one on hold for now. I am on Chapter 8, and increasingly annoyed by the hero's constant come-ons to the heroine, constantly touching her and manipulating events to get her spending more time with her. It's fine line between love and stalking. Instead of reading a hero who is romantic, he feels borderline creepy.

I read this book a couple of years ago, but just now added it to Goodreads. That being said I remember reading it...and you know there are a ton of books that just aren't memorable. And I remember liking it and it left a favorable impression on me.

I do wish the cover and title weren't so cheesy...

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest opinions. My first book by Kerri and won't be my last, I thoroughly enjoyed this storyline, it had substance, loveable characters and unexpected discoveries. Rafe and Sophie had hot steamy chemistry, I fell in love with them, this book was charming and utterly wonderful. I can honestly say I recommend this book.

Sencillo, ligero y fresco.

I love historical events like this.
Boats and historical events are what make me love reading. Could you please share the sequel books of your series?

In fact, even though I started reading very late, I'm getting more and more immersed every day.

It is a great chance to read the books of important authors. I know that. I'm looking forward to your new books.

I am writing the importance of reading a book here for friends who want to read this book. I hope it will benefit sellers and customers...

Are the top 10 benefits of reading for all ages:

1. Reading Exercises the Brain

While reading, we have to remember different characters and settings that belong to a given story. Even if you enjoy reading a book in one sitting, you have to remember the details throughout the time you take to read the book. Therefore, reading is a workout for your brain that improves memory function.

2. Reading is a Form of (free) Entertainment

Did you know that most of the popular TV shows and movies are based on books? So why not indulge in the original form of entertainment by immersing yourself in reading. Most importantly, it’s free with your Markham Public Library card.

3. Reading Improves Concentration and the Ability to Focus

We can all agree that reading cannot happen without focus and in order to fully understand the story, we have to concentrate on each page that we read. In a world where gadgets are only getting faster and shortening our attention span, we need to constantly practice concentration and focus. Reading is one of the few activities that requires your undivided attention, therefore, improving your ability to concentrate.

4. Reading Improves Literacy

Have you ever read a book where you came across an unfamiliar word? Books have the power to improve your vocabulary by introducing you to new words. The more you read, the more your vocabulary grows, along with your ability to effectively communicate. Additionally, reading improves writing skills by helping the reader understand and learn different writing styles.

5. Reading Improves Sleep

By creating a bedtime routine that includes reading, you can signal to your body that it is time to sleep. Now, more than ever, we rely on increased screen time to get through the day. Therefore, by setting your phone aside and picking up a book, you are telling your brain that it is time to quiet down. Moreover, since reading helps you de-stress, doing so right before bed helps calm your mind and anxiety and improve the quality of sleep.

6. Reading Increases General Knowledge

Books are always filled with fun and interesting facts. Whether you read fiction or non-fictions, books have the ability to provide us with information we would’ve otherwise not known. Reading a variety of topics can make you a more knowledgeable person, in turn improving your conversation skills.

7. Reading is Motivational

By reading books about protagonists who have overcome challenges, we are oftentimes encouraged to do the same. The right book can motivate you to never give up and stay positive, regardless of whether it’s a romance novel or a self-help book.

La risposta è assolutamente NO.

4.5☆ - A sweet yet sexy single parent romance mixed with a charming stubborn billionaire

The Boat Builder's Bed is a sweet single parent romance mixed with a charming yet slightly stubborn billionaire that is well written with great characters and a steady plot and pacing. This heartwarming light read had just enough tension / drama mixed within the mixed within the sexy and sizzling romance to make this an easy to pass a few hours book that is guaranteed to leave you with a warmth in your heart.

The book is told from dual point of view, Rafe, a billionaire who knows what he wants, and Sophie, a single mom and interior designer, both clearly have a connection and while they have a few challenges and secrets to get through first, the dual views clearly showed the characters’ growth and mutual feelings. As with all books, at times with characters they can frustrate you a little but I always see that as a good thing that an author can evoke such feelings from a reader.

I have a soft spot in my heart for this book as it was the first book I ever read on Kindle a few years ago which reignited my passion for reading and is one that I still remember and go back to when I’m looking for a sweet and light read. I can’t recommend enough to contemporary romance fans.

A sweet, easy read, ideal for a relaxing holiday. Sophie has just started her new business as an interior design consultant. Rafe is driving past and recognises her as one of his ex-wife’s employees, and wonders if she is moving premises, so he stops to find out. Part of the signboard Sophie had been struggling with breaks away in the breeze, and hits the back of his car, smashing the lights. They get chatting, and she sparks his interest, he invites her to quote for the interior design for the amazing house he is having built, she has read about it in the newspapers. If she can get this job her new company will be made! They talk a lot over the next couple of days, and she realises that the big secret she is hiding from him would probably destroy any chance of her keeping the commission. Keeping him at arm’s length is a must! Fat chance - he is enamoured with her, and the feeling is mutual.

As is inevitable her secret comes out at the worst possible time! And Rafe acts almost exactly as she feared. It takes a while for both of them to calm down and talk about it. Of course there is a happy ending, this is a love story after all!

A chance meeting between Rafe and Sophie turns into a beautiful relationship, but, can it withstand the secret that Sophie is keeping? Rafe helps Sophie with her sign for her new business. Little did he know that she used to work for his ex-wife and has now branched out on her own. Rafe has finally decided it is time to decorate and finish his home. He hires Sophie to do that. The more they work together, the more the attraction grows. Sophie knows that she should not mix business with pleasure and also knows that she should not mix it because she hasn't told Rafe about her daughter. Sophie's daughter lives with her mom for the time being because she is trying to get on her feet with her business. Once she starts establishing herself, she will bring her daughter "home". She is afraid to tell this to Rafe because his own parents didn't want him and he was raised by his grandparents. Can Rafe forgive Sophie for keeping this secret? The attraction between them is intense and their relationship that they've built is beautiful. It's a great story of starting over and love.
