NASA picks up three signals of extraterrestrial origin coming from within our own solar system, and expedites a mission to investigate the sources. Commander Roger Nelson pilots the experimental long-range spacecraft Magellan, guided only by an onboard A.I. and a stream of increasingly delayed dispatches from Earth, including those from the wife he left behind for the duration of this 10-year solo mission.
As he picks up the trail of mysterious beacons on Saturn's Titan, he finds questions and dangers in space that NASA never anticipated. Increasingly torn between his duty as an astronaut, his ties to Earth, and his own awakening sense of wonder, Nelson will make far-reaching decisions that shape the future of his mission and of humanity itself.
This novella is adapted from the motion picture by Firespire Productions and Arrowstorm Entertainment.
But a decent read I could not recommended this book to someone who has a shot attention span became sections are very s-l-o-which read but you can push through.
I enjoyed reading this offering from author Scott Baird, as it is 4:55 AM and I have to be at work in 3 hours. If you're looking for battles and combat, you won't find those things here. Don't even remember the word " gun " being used, and yet it was an excellent read, at least to me.
Although I see no mention of book 2 , I will watch for the continuation of this story as there is much left to tell. Much!!

Firm and solid writing. Grateful for not having to slog through a mudscape of dull interpersonal drivel. I viewed the video clip ... which almost made me not read this excellent book. I recommend to serious science readers. Not for fantasy readers.
Solid and firm writing. Minimal pointless diversions into predictable intellectual dialogue. Recommend to reality based readers, not fantasy addicts. More please!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Signs of intelligence within our solar system, political intrigue and a protagonist, the astronaut traveling through our solar system picking up unknown probes - what's not to like?! Have gotten used to serials here on Amazon's kindle, I certainly hope another chapter is on the way.
Interesting and thought provoking! It makes you feel for the main characters and what they are going through. Makes you wonder what you would do if you were the main character.
I really liked the book, but will be disappointed if there isn't a sequel as the book leaves you hanging at the end. I have to say...I'm glad I read the book before watching the movie, the movie was terrible.
Although it was an enjoyable read, I failed to understand the ending. It was as if it left the reader hanging, without a satisfactory ending. Rather disappointed!
I paid .99 for this book, and it was almost worth it. It wasn't so terrible that I didn't finish it, but that was mainly due to it's brevity, thank God.
Good character development, depending on a developing idea which is expanding in scope. There is a major logical problem though with the use of stasis.
The mission takes on new meaning as it continues. Everyone other than the astronaut fades nto the background. Reminiscent of the Martian.
Leaves big questions about humanity and alien intelligences, including the nature of the communication and it's breadth. Well written with the exception that NASA somehow plays a major role in space again. With a steadily decreasing budget that is about half the price of building a carrier group and no clear direction and little dedicated engineering those days seem to me to be over.
Contemplative endings are often thought-provoking and allow one to linger on a story for some time—they allow us to create multiple endings or one we feel is best. This story never develops the multiple plot lines it introduces. So little is developed that I am truly disappointed in the lost potential for an awesome story.
