Winter's Beast: A Beauty and the Beast Book

Rate this book
"I have never resented Ivan’s good looks. But there are times, once I became of age to date girls and women, that I wish I could look more like him than myself. Women are not often quick to date a monster.
I was okay with that. Until now. Until Winter. She changed everything..."

Ivan Petrov is a ruthless Russian businessman who is only six degrees off mob boss. He doesn't care about anything other than getting what he wants. And he wants Winter Rose, the prodigy opera singer, and is willing to torment her sexually until she begs for it. He could care less that Yury, his disfigured and most trusted guard has fallen for her.

Winter's Beast is one part sugar and sweet, two parts sex and sweat. It is not your typical Romance and although it has an HEA, it's a dark, twisty road to get there.

I was born and raised in Joliet, IL. I wrote my first story in the 3rd grade and fell in love with creating my own world. But throughout the years I have lacked the discipline to actually sit down and write. Even with a minor in Creative Writing (which should have been my major).
I have been a avid romance novel reader since Jr. High and have read hundreds. I have lived in Chicago, Japan, California and now reside in Arizona. And I wanted nothing more than to combine my love of romance, writing and traveling and put them in a book.
So one day out of the blue while in the middle of reading another book, the story that I had started months ago kept bombarding my every thought. Until I couldn't even continue to read the book I was in the middle of. I put down my Nook and picked up my laptop and about fifteen days later, I had finished my first draft of my manuscript. It was the most exhilarating moment of my life. To know that I finally did it. That I finally finished something that I had started. And now I'm and AUTHOR and PUBLISHER! I never would have thought that was possible three months ago. I just hope that everyone that picks up any of the books I write from here on out, enjoy them as much as I did writing them.

"Winter's Beast" was an awesome yet different retelling to the classic, "Beauty and the Beast." I thoroughly enjoyed Yuri (scarred beast)and Winter's (albino opera singer) dark but sensual story!! Their relationship was a journey but boy was it worth it!

There is one character in this book you will instantly hate and continue to loathe up until his demise and scream ABOUT TIME ! That spoiler will be all I give to this book because it would be a waste to give this story away.

Read it to see it all pans out with Yuri and Winter!

Winter Rose, a celebrated opera singer is kidnapped upon the order of Ivan Petrov, by his faithful bodyguard Yury.

Yury better known as Skotina, which means Beast in Russian was plucked from the jaws of death by Ivan many, many years ago, for which Yury is grateful and loyal, until Winter enters their lives. Though he is conflicted by Ivan's request, he also sees it as an opportunity to be close to Winter, his now secret obsession.

Winter wakes up to a nightmare in Paris to discover that she is trapped and being forced to work in Ivan's club as his featured main attraction. Winter is furious at her manager, at Ivan and especially at Yury who she now remembers encountering weeks ago.

We learn over time that Winter repressed her sexuality based upon thoughts her mother put in her head and because of her own alienation from others who judged her harshly because of her skin tone. Under Ivan's cruelty and domination, she's forced to discover her sexual awakening, her kinks and her limits. The pleasure she eventually experiences is in direct conflict with her upbringing and she is torn on what it all means.

Under lock and key with no possibility of escape, Yury becomes her lifeline, the only one that keeps her sane and the only one she is convinced that can save her. I thought no beast could replace Ford from 'Broken' but I was wrong. I love, love, love Yury.

This would have been a 5-star read but a reveal happened that I didn't believe at all!

Another favourite author of mine. This was such an engaging read by her and the story was so different to anything she has written before. Please expect the unexpected and if you cannot handle messy romance, then this is not the book for you, because this story is messed up.

Great read which I would highly recommend. I really enjoyed reading this one.

Not my cup of tea

The description and disclaimer were exactly correct. Although the story was very well written i could not get behind the consensual non consent. At the end if the day it is still the r word.

NOT A FAN
first of all the main character was continuously raped throughout the book. After the introduction of this recurring theme I quickly became bias and I started to search for more flaws within the story. It is safe to say I simply did not like this book. The hero was weak and his loyalty to Ivan was misguided. The heroine was also weak and docile that I became worried about the other reader who have read this book and gave 5 stars. Because the heroine was not a reflection of any form of strength. This story was lazy and it lacked imagination.

DNF @ 78%.

I kept waiting for this story to get good but it kept getting worse. The h is raped by the villain a few times and assaulted by strangers in several instances. I thought the H would be an alpha male but he just stood there looking sad and watched everything happen. By the time I reached 78% I did not understand why everyone was so enamored with the h. I just could not read this anymore. It was a mess.

How does she do it? How does Twyla write these damaged men that make me go gaga? I absolutely fell head over heels with Yuri from the beginning. He was such an abused child and he needed someone to love him. He was such a special character.

Winter was a very unique character as well. I loved that she was an opera singer. I could just envision her standing on stage with her pale skin, white hair and red lips beautifully belting out in Italian.

This story touched my heart as I have a soft spot for the underdog & people who have been bullied. Anyone who doesn't have issues with kidnapping, sexual abuse or bullying will love this book. The love story was everything. I almost lost it in the final chapters. I won't ruin it for the readers, but something happened to Yuri and I had to keep myself calm, having faith that Twyla wouldn't do that to me.

I went through changes with this one, but it was worth it in the end. LOVED IT!

Beauty and the Beast with a twist!

This was definitely a twist on beauty in the beast. And I loved it. Winter Rose is our beauty. She's a talented singer. She sings all types of music but her specialty is opera! How is the girl with the voice. And that of course made her special what really made her special was the Color of her skin. She had a condition called albinism. Which means she was devoid of color. She is loved by anyone who hears her saying and she's very sought after in Opera circles. Went to Rose is due for a long awaited vacation in Paris. While in Paris she comes across a very attractive very rich business tycoon. Who wants her to sing at his club. She declines but of course I'll take home with millions of dollars never except no for an answer. He kidnaps going to Rose and bring her back to his home. Yuri is the guy who actually does the kidnapping. Yuri is the rich tycoons' muscle. Yuri is everything rich tycoon is not. He's built like a brick house and his face is disfigured. Voilà you have our beast. This was a very engaging and interesting twist on beauty in the beast. This was definitely a sexual awakening for Winter Rose and I'm sure you're going to enjoy her exploration into her sexuality. And also you will enjoy Yuri's transformation. Definitely five stars!

This was different. Definitely NOT for close minded individuals or trigger sensitive.

This book conflicted my emotions, as intended I suppose. But there is no denying the chemistry between Winter and her Skotina! The pages almost sizzle.

Well dagnabbit! Ms. Turner has certainly outdid herself with her rendition of Beauty and the Beast! What an incredible story!

My heart broke, completely splintered, and skipped a few beats during the prologue! Good gravy! Talk about an emotional beat down! If you can function after that piece of wtf, then bravo! You're BOSS and will need to be because this story is gonna beat the brakes off your life!

Bravo to Ms. Turner for identifying an issue society knows next to nothing about and therefore fear it on some level. I LOVE devouring a good story with depth! Yes it's fiction but isn't it better when we can actually LEARN and APPRECIATE something from the experience of reading? I certainly think so and for this feat alone, this story deserves five stars! The issue is identified, explored, and accepted beautifully! I applaud you, Ms. Turner!

Although this is the first book I've read by Turner, it won't be the last! Her style of writing is addictive! One thing I proudly exploit is my addiction to quality writing!

Five beautiful stars!

Disclaimer: This review is my PERSONAL OPINION of this AH-MAZING book! My personal opinion should have no bearing on your experience with this book!!!!

This was a departure for this author. I commend Ms. Turner for stepping out of her convert zone and portraying a unique love. It actually took me a couple of days to figure out how I was going to craft my review. I really enjoyed the love story between Winter and Yuri. The sexual nature of the book didn't bother me at all. My concerns were with how Winter questioned the physical violence against her.

Just because a woman has a biological response doesn't mean it isn't rape. It felt like the violence against Winter was downplayed a little. I'm always concerned when authors don't have the character, who is experiencing the violence address the psychological and physical impact in these books. I would hate for any woman to read these books and perceive non consent as being ok just because they had a biological response to the man's actions.

Overall, I do recommend this book. The author has a great track record of writing wonderful books portraying unconventional love featuring unique male and female characters. Ms. Turner continues to grow as an author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Shitty

I literally stopped reading at 35%, soon as I saw the rape direction I had to quick reading this book. I need a refund because there were so many different/better directions that could have been taken. This book was surely a let down. When I read I try to find books that help me escape some of my reality but instead this book served as a trigger. I'm really disappointed. I should have done more research on this author before I 1 click. This book will be the first and last book of hers because I will now attach her name to this trigger scenario. I'm just disgusted. I even hate how the author use sex as a tool for the manager to completely give in the Ivans wants. I think it makes women look weak that we purely dependent upon a man for an orgasm. We already live in a rape and sex trafficking culture that this book brought me back unimaginable place. Please do better

A new and thrilling tale of Beauty and the Beast, as we learn that outward beauty can still conceal a beast. Winter Rose, a gifted opera singer is on her last leg of her touring concert. Uniquely enough her rare condition of albinism isn't the only thing that made her an interesting character, but her very soft and caring heart. Winter remained an inspiring combination of strong yet tender aspects of femininity. She attracts the unwelcome attentions of Ivan Petrov, as he forces her to become his unwilling songbird for his erotic night club. Through these unsavory interactions she meets Yuri, his mute bodyguard with the scarred face and puppy dog eyes that call to her. As Ivan tries to bend Winter to his will through the use of sexual coercion(more like assault and torture), Yuri tries to fight his feelings in order to spare her Ivan's wrath. Yuri, a trained killer with such a tragic past and a scarred face, falls deeply for Winter when she looks beyond his face. And he is shamefully reminded of his role in her abduction despite having not much choice. But these two still manage to find a path for their love through so much hurt, anger, jealously and confusion. And Winter, painfully but not regretfully finds her sexual awakening through Ivan's horrendous means (he got what he rightfully deserved!!). What made this such a great read were the tender moments stolen between Yuri and Winter. Even though Yuri didn't speak through most of it, everything was conveyed to make for such heart melting moments between them.

Just wow!

A wonderfully written story. I fell in love with Yury and Winter. I was devastated by her helplessness with Ivan, but when Winter came into her sexuality all bets were off. The love she has for Yury had me teary eyed. Beautiful Ms Twyla

1st book by Twlya Turner that disappointed...

The book was well written. The content I didn't enjoy. I'm just not into Stockholm syndrome. A gilded cage is still a cage and I just couldn't suspend my belief enough to understand Winter's feelings in that metaphorical cage. Yury's repeated inaction was hugely disappointing for a man supposedly in love. He had opportunities to help and didnt. Ivan was alone with him at times. And after all the buildup to the finale, what follows seemed very rushed. As I said, well written, but a disappointment to me.

Winter's Beast A Beauty and the Beast Novel started out well with introducing the backgrounds of Yury and Winter in a way that makes you automatically connect with them. Fast forward to 20-plus years later, and the book should have been called: Beauty, Beast and the Oversexed. When the captive tilts in the direction of her captor, then there is no reason to care about her plight anymore. In addition, if a story is going to be set in a foreign country, the setting needs to reflect this. It's another DNF for me, which is unfortunate because I like Yury very much and wanted to see him have his HEA. But I can't plow through endless sex scenes to see him get there.

Oops she did it again😍

TT takes a story of human imperfections,ugliness....and turns it into a fairytale....a fairytale with a lot of x-rated sex...voyeurism...in a sex club that became Winter's prison....her Beast....or Skotina....doesn't know how to rescue his Beauty...she's the only person who took a first look at him and smiled...he loved her from that day...even though he had to kidnap her...

This was an okay read. Winter was a great character, but I really liked 'the beast' Yury, with his inner voice and reactions to things. The sex club stuff took away from whatever romance there was though.
Of course, with me getting tired of the onslaught of HEAs with pregnancies and/or kids, in addition to some editing issues, this story gets a weak 3 stars.

Hmmm....I've had a day to think about this book and so far, I can tell you this much--I didn't hate it BUT at the same time, I won't be doing any "shout-outs" about this read, but it was okay. I love me a good fairytale remake and I don't mind the little twist here & there but this one....I......I don't.....I don't know. So let me just throw some stuff out there and hopefully this will help some of you folks who are deciding to read this or not.
It started off really good and I love the back story for both Winter and Yuri. Having the prologue, it really helped to see how they were treated and being raised to form the adults they become in the story. Super excited to see how the story played out, it just turned out to be more of a "WTF" in the end. Yeah, you get your 'happily-ever-after' but things that lead up to that had me SMDH!! There was just something missing and I can't figure it out.
My connections with the characters, well....I get how Winter could be a little naive. Her mom pretty much isolated her and made her believe anything related to sex or being sexy or sexual was evil!! You can only imagine how that would play on her psych as an adult. But after being taken, there were some way out crazy stuff going on in Ivan's club that had Winter totally buggin' out. To say "she wasn't ready" (in my Kevin Hart voice) is an understatement!! What had me trippin' was Winters reaction to all of the craziness. I guess you could say it was almost unbelievable. Like, I couldn't picture it happening as I'm reading. But that was part of the "missing" I mentioned earlier. As a reader, I couldn't feel the connection between the character and the events that was being played out.
Now her pull to Yuri, I can totally see that happening. I can also understand the attraction towards this big buy since he was the exact opposite of Ivan, the aweful. What I couldn't buy or get was the fact that Yuri let so much happen before he decided to finally step up & do something! Yes, he owed Ivan so much for he was the one that saved him as a child.......BUT, it don't make what he was doing right. So yeah, I expected a little more from this beast. I suppose I didn't expect Winter to be who she was.
I rated this book a 3.5 out of 5 because as weird as this read was for me, I didn't hate it! I'm sure it could've been better but I liked it and it was okay. Ms. Twyla Turner, you did a really good job at making Ivan Petrov a real bad guy!! I couldn't stand him! This dude was seriously full of himself and could be very entertaining when it came to punishments for Winter-I'll give him that!! If you're a reader looking for some naughty kinkiness in a fairytale remake, you'll get plenty of that here! 5 stars out of 5 for the "hot & bothered" scenes!! Too bad I couldn't give that rating for the book overall. I liked the prologue, epilogue and the way Ivan played out his punishments...those were cool. Its the in-between that was lacking, unfortunatly.

3.50 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Unlimited Edition e-book. Because the antagonist maintained such a large presence in this story, I didn't get a Beauty and the Beast vibe-the heroine did not fear nor was she repelled by him. As a 5-years-old kid, the hero, Yury/Skotina, was rescued by the antagonist, Ivan Petro. Skotina had been brutally mangled by a pack of vicious killer dogs. Ivan became a father figure to Skotina... accepting Skotina's muteness and facial disfigurement and by training and educating him; so when, Ivan told Skotina of his intent for them to kidnap Winter Rose Harris, the heroine, Skotina did not question him. Winter is a sheltered virginal world famous opera singer prodigy who has albinism and who had the audacity to say no to Ivan when he asked her to sing at one of his clubs. The story centers on Winter's forced sexual awaking spearheaded by Ivan and how she and Yury come to develop a lasting love for each other despite Ivan's obsession Winter and his determination to make her his. Yury and Winter get the whole ball of wax...love and marriage with children.

This was more like The Hunchback of Notre Dame than Beauty and the Beast since it has a story parallel to Esmerelda and Quasimodo fighting Claude Frollo and his obsession for Esmeralda. The author beautifully describes Winter Rose and it gave me the picture of the albino South African model Thando Hopa.
description
I was about to clown this book as I initially thought that Ivan was the worst mob boss I'd ever read with his ridiculous threats towards Winter. But then, the story kicks off to where it was soaked in eroticism with Ivan dragging the heroine through his titilating sex club and his guard, Skotina, falling for her. There are trigger warnings to consider. As with most captive and obsession stories, there are moments of sexual assault and rape happening in this book.

Beauty and the Beast

I enjoyed the story of Winter and Yury. You do need to have an open mind when reading this book. I enjoyed the journey of Yury and how he could look at himself as a man who deserved love and mist importantly love himself. Winter is like anyone who see's their imperfections and turns it into something unhealthy. I'm glad that she too learned to love herself and couldn't give a damn what others thought. Take a chance and you will enjoy the book!!
