Yeesh. This was VERY difficult to read. After reading the blurb and a recommendation from another author's newsletter it sounded good. I was disappointed because nothing but confusion especially in the beginning. Now, I dont expect everything to be explained but honestly nothing was. I just wasnt able to finish it. Characters were many and they didnt make sense within the story either. I think there were too many "plots" going and the author couldn't make up her mind how it was going to go maybe. I cant recommend.

Has I was reading the book, I felt like I was missing some vital information. I kept checking to see if I was reading Book 1 or if I had skipped to book 2 or something.

World building needs to be clear. The characters were interesting (too many female characters, I felt that they all started to sound/act the same) but I couldn't connect with any of them.

Not giving book 2 a chance.

It was dark and somber. That didn't bother me. It was the story, or perhaps, the storytelling. I understand leaving parts out or not providing an explanation to keep things mysterious, but it wasn't mysterious. It was confusing. I found myself rereading parts because I thought I missed something. I couldn't understand the allure or power of Detrand nor his attraction to Adelaide. She is described as loving and innocent and giving, yet she never thanks Detrand nor feels appreciative of anything he ever did for her or gave to her. She was always either angry and resentful towards him or just plain lustful. I didn't understand her draw. Furthermore, what happened to Adelaide's mother? Did Detrand know what was going on with her? What was in the letter Adelaide's father left for her? What happens when you bond with a Fae and is that a bad thing? What is going on with Sophie and that ghost? Very little explanation is provided for anything, and there is absolutely no backstory. Some characters are compelling, especially Detrand, and the story has an interesting premise. However, it needs to provide clarity, explanation, and backstory. I am hoping the next installment will clear up a lot of this. Fingers crossed for an enlightening next chapter...

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Book Review : A Vampire's Seduction (Book 1) Fleur Camacho

A Witches Murderous Spell, A Slayened Town Master Vampire, Detrand's Return To The City And His New Title As Vampire King, Strigoi , A Blood Vow of Revenge, A Mortal's Death Bed Promise & Payment, A Water Logged Ghost, The Fae King & Queen, A Widowed Alpha and Her Pack, 2 Young Innocent Human Women And Betrayal!

Could The Biggest Bad Strigoi Vampire Of All Time Really Have A Heart Of Gold,
Under that cold hard exterior? Or Is It Just A Cleaver Manipulation To Get What He Needs?

After receiving news of his Makers final death, Detrand returns to town with one goal in mind, to hunt down his Maker's killer. In the mean time he settles up Agasto's accounts and set things right, before wanting to blowing town, to return to his beloved Italy.
Standing over Agatso's grave, he makes the following decree whilst biting his wrist and letting blood drip, running over Agosto's coffin! Declaring with this My Solemn Blood Vow, I will catch your Killer, My Maker and I will exact my revenge!
But he get more than he bargains for when he allows a mortal friend's young daughter in his home, under his protection after her father dies, while taking payment of the Mayor's young daughter in Leiu of a outstanding loan repayment.
Can Adelade ever sooth the savage beast that lies within Detrand, or has she got herself into more trouble than she's ever known before, or has Detrand bitten off more than he can chew in allowing these humans into his home?

The sexual content in a vampire novel is always an intricate part of any story and was written in a pleasant & refreshing way, while not tame, by any means, but written with an adult audience in mind. Definitely a credit to Ms Camacho's writing style as too much of today's sex scenes are now aimed with "Mummy Porn" in mind, which I often find over powering, and unrealistic for the average sex scene, with too many words making it sound like pure filth.
Detrand's sexual relationships are a crucial part of his character. The author needed to keep the right balance to demonstrate his sexual draw & prowess. Well done Ms Camacho!

This Book Has More Twists And Turns Than A Long And Winding County Road!
With This being my first reading of one of Ms Camacho's Books, I'll now be reading everything she has on offer. Her writing's had me transfixed to the pages with an eager anticipation trying in vain to work out the storyline ahead of time, but that ending OMG I can't think of anything that could have made it more intriguing, more exciting or better written, congratulations Fleur you're on a winning format here! What More Could You Ask For In One Book?

I rarely rate the first book in a series a 5⭐️'s out of 5⭐️'s as it leaves the series nowhere to go, no room for improvement, and a lot for the author to live up to, but in saying that I found every element I look for in an amazing book to be present :

1) A great storyline, with a winning plot & twists that are both exciting, intriguing and can hold my attention especially during the first hour, that's crucial.

2) A main & supporting cast that are 3D, strong, engaging, believable, & easy to fall in love with, or easily we learn, to love to hate them.
Someone that grows through change or challenge, but must be believable.
They're like real people, some with flaws, and some with problems showing the depths of their souls, whether it be good or bad, as we are each capable of great evil or great goodness.
Some may need that little nudge, while others need no helping hand at all!
And some we'd wish to have as friends, while others we'd wish to keep as far from as possible!

Detrand - The Vampire King of London is the loveable, sexy Anti-hero of this story with a constant personal struggle between good and evil, human and Strigoi, unlike any other vampire with incredible self control over and his Strigoi's surging blood lust. He rules the City with a fair and caring heart, mind and hand, looking out for vampire, shifter, Fae and human alike.
More often than not his good side and sensibility wins out, with him doing the right thing.
Do right by Detrand, and Detrand will do right by you, but don't cross him, take him for granted or it might just be the last time you do, ending up as fish food or fire fuel!
He's dirty, he's mean, and his thoughts are mighty obscene!

Adelade - The young, innocent daughter of Bennett, a human Detrand owes a debt of gratitude to. Placed in Detrand's household & under his personal protection. He's not happy.
At first, totally petrified of all the Strigoi, and imagining all the ways they could kill her.
With the help of her best friend Lula, Adelade becomes a strong willed young competent woman who fights for what is right, looking after the poor and destitute, feeding them whatever paltry scraps she can acquire. Holds a secret crush on Detrand, even though she is absolutely peterrified of him.
Her blood calls to Detrand like no other before her!

Lula Belle - The Major's daughter, given to Detrand for a period of two years as feed for Rowan. Until Lula arrives with the restitution. It's barely there & Detrand changes the terms of the contract, as her father seems to care so little for her welfare she's to live at the mansion for the two year period with only her mother allowed visitation.
Lula is shy and quite, but quickly comes out of her shell, becoming a friend to Detrand who seems quite taken with her, but only in the ways of a father.
Very taken with Rowan, she cares deeply for him, she feeds him but that's it, it's not to go sexual without Detrand's say so.

Rowan - is Detrand's Sire & his right hand man, and another Strigoi. Accompanies Detrand to most negotiations. He seems to be very taken with Lula Belle, he cares for her and about her.
He is learning control over his Strigoi, but has not mastered it yet, and is easy to temper.
His love & obedience for Detrand is quite obvious, a very likeable characters I was hoping to learn to fall in love with

Sophie - A loveable character widowed by the loss of her Mate Agasto.
Has had a long standing friendship/relationship with Detrand and will do anything he asks of her. Also has a duel role as a water logged ghost.
Plays the role of the Mother figure of the strigoi mansion. Has a close friendship with Lily, but seems to be everyone's friend. Has a string of thralls- human women there for sex and pleasure or to feed a strigoi especially in case of emergency.

Lilly - is another of the strigoi household, more of a supporting character often found at Detrand's beck and call, whether that be for food or sex or both. Sultry and a little scary, not one I'd like to be on her bad side. Thinks she's better than the humans in the story.
Enjoys tormenting Adelade.

To be honest, this dragged for me and took a really long while to get into the story. Even after things started picking up pace-wise I still wasn't impressed. I was bored with it and many times thought to just toss it aside and call it a day. This just wasn't the read I expected. There are so many talented authors out there that write of similar topics that really bring their A-game and yank their readers into their worlds and storylines...this was not one of them; at least not for me. To each their own. Keeping this in mind, I won’t be following up with the next book in the series or any other writings from the author.

An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

Many reviewers have noted this book difficult to read and or comprehend. My overall thoughts is that this book dragged on for so long made it possibly difficult. I think after Detrand's first line of questioning on who killed Agosto made it pretty obvious after chapter 3. You could tell what was going to happen no real surprises and well I felt it was boring. So boring it was almost a dnf and I've never not completed a book. Honestly there's not much here going on and personally don't recommend. It my first time reading this author and my last sadly. I really tried to enjoy but couldn't ~ just my honest opinion.

After reading some of Fleur Camacho's previous novels I was a bit disappointed with this one. No, it's not bad at all, it's still good enough to make me like it in general, it just has a few flaws that I couldn't dismiss...
I like the story in general, as I said; the characters of Detrand and Adelade are interesting, complex and yes, there is something between them from the start. The other characters are equally intriguing and find their own places in the story. But... I find it unnecessary to have so many sex scenes throughout the story - they take over the plot at times and somehow push what was supposed to be the main themes of the book (which I assumed were: one) to find Agosto's killer and two) have Detrand and Adelade fall deeply in love with each other) to the background... Also, I know that vampires are supposed to have a lot of sex as it is connected with their bloodlust, but still once or twice is enough to make the reader understand that Detrand is a very promiscuous vamp, I really disliked the fact that every time he meets another female character they jump at each other and have instant sex, however hot it may be... Enough is enough, at least for me, you know...
Another thing I had a problem with was the world building. It's almost non-existent at the beginning. It was only after a few chapters that I realized it's not modern times, but some kind of 19th century almost feudal society that was the background for the story. And still, I had to remind myself often that it was so, as the characters, especially some female ones, acted and spoke as if they were living next door to you right now. It clashed for me more than a few times.
Having said all that, I have to admit that the story itself was engaging; I got to like Adelade a lot, I also think Detrand is an intriguing character, with all his inner struggle with the demon he has to control and his need for having constant control over the ones he loves and protects... There are a lot of subplots and a lot of characters that will make you feel for them and wait for what will happen to them in later books.
So, my overall rating for the book is solid 3.5 stars - it's more than just OK, but not yet full "I like it" :)

This is interesting and entertaining, but missed with me a bit. I don't like that Detrand sleeps around, so that turned me off to his character rather quickly. I don't like the type of vampires in this book, they are the overly sexual kind that have almost slave types that they use for blood and sex, and they are also a bit stuffy. With that being said, the writing is good, and I am interested to see where the story goes. I'll just skim any of Detrand's scenes with other women. There's a bit of mystery that I enjoyed, and I do like Adelaide. Detrand returns back to his home because a vampire leader was killed, and Detrand needs to take over the dead vamp's den of vamps. Detrand sleeps with different women while trying to find out who killed the vamp. Eventually, Detrand ends up meeting Adelaide, there's an attraction, but these 2 have problems, so their "relationship" is difficult. I'll read the next one because I already have it, and I hope Detrand becomes less skeezy.

This dark and sensual story of Detrand was so well done that I both liked and disliked this character at times. I finally decided that some of the things he did were for the better outcome of some of the situations. Other characters in this book were so well written that I look forward to reading more of them. Adelade pulled at the emotions as she endured and we watched more and more of her character come forward along with Sophie and Lula who I hope we see more of. The ending was a surprise which left me wanting more of this story. All the characters in this book seemed to make an impression and I would definitely recommend this book which was full of action and a great plot.

Detrand has returned from Italy to bury his master, only there is no body, as his master was a vampire that died the true death. On his journey to find said killer, he finds he now must take over the role of the master of the city, which means dealing with wolf shifters, fae and even taking on a girl that drive him crazy for her blood. His other problem is that most everyone wants to get into his bed, even the girl he wants, but doesn't.

The book is full of twist and turns, and when you think you know the answers they are replaced with more questions. Keeps you on your toes, loved it, can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Great read for the 1st book

This is my first book by Fleur Camacho, and I must say I truly enjoyed reading her work! This book is different from a lot of other vampire book's I've read. She brings out what I thought vampires were when I was young and doesn't hide these flaws in her work.
It is a breath of fresh air that someone has brought out the real flaws of the vampire! That they truly aren't as perfect as we want them to be, that they can be as vulnerable as they are deadly

Well I can't say it was a bad book, however neither was it a truly good book. There was a possibility to really engage the reader with Dertrand and Adelade being such complex characters. Sadly this was not to be the case, the whole story leaves more questions than answers, there is no background information and much of what is going on is very confusing due to this. It has managed to create the feeling of a dark 19th century vampire tale but that us as far as it goes quite frankly.
I did finish this book but not sure if I will bother with the next.

I absolutely loved this book!! When Adelade and Detrend first meet you can tell that there is a connection between the two and it only gets stronger as the story goes on.
Detrend is a person that knows what he wants and goes to get it , no ifs and or butts. I also really enjoyed how Detrend and Adelade kept going back and forth with one another, like I want you but I can't have you. The ending completely shocked me I didn't see that coming at all. I'm so excited to read the next one and see where the book goes. I was gifted an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

After I got through the first two chapters I started to really enjoy "A Vampire's Seduction." Detrand is a vampire on a mission and he'll stop a nothing to find the one responsible for killing his maker. There's only one problem...Adelade. Her blood is deliciously seductive and calls to Detrand. Just one bite has the power to either destroy him or save him. This was my first taste of Fleur Camacho's work and it won't be my last.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The book was well written with good character development and an engaging plot, but I had too many questions at the end, including:

What is the relationship between Detrand & Sophie?
How does Detrand know the priest?
Why did everyone want him to leave?
What is the deal with Adelade?
Why is she able to get close to fire?

I am interested to read more in this series, but only if those questions will be answered.

This wonderfully dark story will keep the reader entertained from the first page to the last word on the last page. It is such a dramatic and gripping tale of power, greed, love, lust, revenge, betrayal, vampires, shifters, and of course blood and magic. This is definitely on the list of WOW reads for me and I am definitely looking forward to sinking my teeth into the next book in this series. I love this really good gothic tale of a tortured soul. Our main character Dertrand has many conflicting ideologies when it comes to handling his fellow Stragoi or vampire. His close family of his kind are a very dysfunctional group. They behave as humans would in family life. But the writing is very elegant and complex so don't be confused, this is a definite throwback to Gothic vampire fiction.

This story started out slow for me but I am glad I stuck with it because it ended up being a very enjoyable read, The underlying tones were dark and somber but I like that. There are some decent twists that have you guessing what will happen next. The characters are well developed. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Predator or seducer?

A Vampires Seduction was indeed just that. It took a bit for me to get involved but once I was, I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. The storyline was a bit confusing and felt it read more like a script than a book at times. I'm sure it would make one killer of a movie!

Book was a little slow in the beginning, but than as everything started happening it was not easy to put down. The prologue comes into you being able to understand toward the end. Detrand is a vampire who is trying to find the person responsible for killing his maker. While doing this he comes across a woman who's blood calls to him like no others had before. He would do anything for just one taste of her blood but he must control his lust because he is sworn to protect her. Amidst the internal struggles he faces he also must keep the other creatures from causing chaos, mainly the werewolves, who are looking for a new Alpha. Most of them do not want a vampire to lead their pack.
This story had a good plot and characters although there were parts that were a little difficult to follow. However, I would like to see where the rest of this story will lead.

I’m usually a completionist but I just could not get into this story. I gave it some time to give me one thing of interest to grab onto, but nothing. The characters I met were a turn off, the story dull and confusing, and the writing was awkward. It just really wasn’t my thing. Doesn’t mean it won’t be yours. Who knows- maybe there was a major improvement just around the next page?
