Another unlikely alliance for Old Man Logan as he goes in search of the possibly, paranormally disappeared, missing Jubilee, only to get caught up in a monster war - an idea that I would hate on paper, but it just about works out OK. The Old Man returns to the Wastelands, doing some work for Dani Cage, when he recalls that he was in a new (our) universe, fighting Brood in space! What's going on? Another OK story, very well drawn, but not saying that much. 6 out of 12 overall Three Stars.

Pure escapism...OML is one of the most original takes on Wolverine (W) in several years. There is almost a 'dharma-hell' element to the stories; violence follows violence as W tries to place his actions in a past he can't quite remember. A very 'Lord of the Flies' feel to this take on an iconic character. Fun comic 'fast-food'.

Logan teams up with the Howling Commandos to find Jubilee and fight some vampires. Felipe Andrade's sketchy art is terrible. I couldn't tell who was who. Plus, there's no introduction to the Howling Commandos and I've never come across them before. It would have been nice to see them more fleshed out. Then Logan heads into space and fights the Brood and flashes back to an untold moment from his Wasteland past. I hated where this ended. Plus, how would it even work? It's an alternate future that isn't set to happen now, so how would he get back to it? Not to mention that it doesn't even matter, because none of it is going to happen. Five issues of mindless wheel spinning.

This was OK. It felt a bit like filler material, to be honest, but it was reasonably entertaining, if more than a bit silly in places.

Whoa, I had to triple check this was written by Lemire.
This volume is horrendous. Easily the worst of the series. While I ALWAYS felt this series lacked something it never became as glaring as it did with this volume. This was goofy as shit but in all the wrong ways. We had Logan team up with some monster squad, which was dumb, and it just flat storytelling. Then another story where he goes back to the wastelands, but not really, and he's really in space and...yeah you know what. Sounds dumb right? It is.

Bad: The rest.

This was one of the weirdest Old Man Logan collections so far. I am not a fan of the art, especially on the Dracula stories. Gets kind of confusing going back and forth between the wasteland stories and the present. The wasteland stories all happened in Logan's mind, but still. At this point I guess the author is trying to figure how where to place Old Man Logan. I have Volume 5 on hand to read and then I am up to date on Old Man Logan. I also just picked up
and will soon start that series and work my way thru

. Maybe back track just a tad more. Of course no one truly dies in comics, and especially Marvel comics. So, I am looking forward to Old Man Logan meeting Wolverine. Should be a good thriller.

Every time this series looks like it's breaking out of the Old Man Logan rut, it falls right back in again.
We've spent the last 3 volumes and change dealing with Logan feeling bad about his past/future, then realising he needs to get over it, and then NOT getting over it and repeating the same journey. I thought, finally, after The Last Ronin, we were getting somewhere.
The first story in this volume seems to indicate the same, as Logan travels to Romania to find Jubilee, who has been kidnapped by Dracula, and runs into the Howling Commandos for a two issue rampage which is good fun. I always love the supernatural side of the Marvel Universe, and seeing the Commandos again is great. I'm not sure why Vampire By Night is a codename, since surely she's Vampire All The Damn Time, but whatever. Filipe Andrade pencils these two issues, which is both a blessing and a curse, because he's great at action scenes but not so great at making sure you know who is who, so there's some murky visuals here and there.
And then we go backwards. Logan travels to Alpha Flight (the space station, not the Canadian super-team) and fights the Brood, but thanks to some mind-whammy, he imagines himself back in the Wastelands of the original Old Man Logan and worries about what happened to the Hulk baby he left behind. Which would be fine, except the ultimate conclusion of the story makes me want to punch everything, except Andrea Sorrentino because his artwork is as always amazing.
Old Man Logan as a concept is great. Old Man Logan in the present day Marvel Universe is still great. But this series needs to stop being so beholden to the original mini-series and let Logan move on, instead of just going backwards and forwards between him getting over it and then being sad about it again. It's not healthy, and it's not where a series should be 18 issues into its run.
Disappointing, despite some nice artwork and a good opening story.

This starts off really well with a story about Wolverine going to Romania and teaming up with Howling Commandos (the supernatural version) to rescue Jubilee from Dracula and faces off against him and its a fun little story highlighting their father-child dynamic.
Then the next story gets a bit confusing as Wolverine goes to space to save his friend Puck from Brood infestation but is also in Wastelands and has to save baby Banner from Kang and the stuff with Warlord and all that but by the end it has a cool twist and you understand whats going on and yeah it can get frustrating but then again he did the same in his MK run and its pretty cool when the payoff happens and the whole mission statement is changed!
Its a cool story with great twists and a must read for sure and has two stories that will give you both happiness and headache with Logan and thats a testament to Lemire's brilliant writing abilities!

The first two issues focuses on a not at all good story that reminds me Jubilee is a vampire. I hate being reminded of that. The second story sends Wolverine into space to battle the Brood, and it's actually pretty good.

The first story (Dracula and shit) was pretty dumb, but not a total disaster (2 stars). The "real" story - the second one, drawn by Sorrentino - was fantastic (outstanding art!!!) but underdeveloped due to too little space/time (just three chapters). That makes 3 stars in total, leaving me at least looking forward to Vol. 5, the final book (?), which I'll buy soon! :)

One of Marvel's essential runs at the moment, Lemire's writing is complemented by some of the best art you will find in comics. Outstanding.

Not as good as the first two volumes but still hasn't dropped off a cliff at least. We have two storylines in this one. The first involves Logan teaming with the new Howling Commandos to rescue Jubilee from Dracula. Wolverine Vs. Dracula is always a blast. The second storyline involves Wolverine in space with Alpha Flight as he deals with the Aliens...I mean, the Brood. There's also some mind games in this volume dealing with the Brood attack. The Dracula arc has a different artist which isn't bad, but the other arc is back to the original artist who is still great. Still have high praise for this series.

I'm not sure if it is because I read this after Wolverine III: Wolverine: Old Man Logan #13 or what, but this volume does not compare. It was just as gorgeous as the rest of the ones before it, but the story was kind of choppy and didn't flow as much.

The story is crazy, that's not changing so no comment there. The art is insane though and worth the price of admission.

(this book is 2 stories. 1st story 1 star. 2nd story 3 stars) Major problem, why is this book broken into two different stories... big fail right there. Secondly the first story "Monster war" is terrible.... so bad... why Lemire? WHY ? is marvel basically forcing you to write Dracula vs. Old man Logan? The plot sucks, the story sucks and the art is shit.... Second story is better. They bring back Sorrentino on art and its good. It takes us back to the wasteland and Logan is trying to track down baby hulk who he abandoned, he is also trying to help Puck fight off the brood in a space station. The story is confusing but it is explained in the end and it is more on par with the original Old Man logan story. If I could forget the first story i would but it is now a scar in my mind, thanks marvel.

Перші два номери про пиздячку з Дракулою і звільненням подруги доволі потішні та ненапряжні, Лоґан разом з Виючими командос (там ще купа смішних адаптацій) кришить кривосісь під іронічні коментарі.
Наступні два номери, де до олівця повертається Соррентіно, Лемір знову закрутив свою шарманку розриваючи мізки Лоґану і читачам. Автор постійно маневрує між спогадами та реальністю, вкрай заплутавши і натомивши всіх. Дуже нагадує перший том, де Лоґан не міг втямити де він, що він.
В "Древніх монстрах" автори знову закидують нас флешбеками та фірмовою різаниною від шефа Росомахи, що шинкує всіх на стейки. У висновку розумієш, що лише таким чином Лоґана можна привести до тями та змусити думати)
Загалом доволі сумбурна збірка, але цілком в стилі всієї історії, тож я не те щоб здивований.

It got a little too old (like Logan HA HA) with the whole did he time travel or not, is Kang involved or not? Is he in wastelands or not? It was all a dream? etc. But yeah, overall it got a nice payoff and I liked the whole confusion. Even Puck was tolerable, which I fucking hate.
Artwork was fucking amazing! Especially on them Brood fights. So. Damn. Good.

Two totally different stories in this volume to be noted separately
Monster war : 3*
I was pretty sure the Groovie Goolies were going to piss me off big time but it was actually surprisingly fun. I can't care less about Jubilee and the plot was totally innocuous but to see OML dress down the shivering freaks of the Howling Commando with snappy growled remarks was worth the admission.
Filipe Andrade on the drawing board is sort of a mix between Sean Murphy and Gerardo Zaffino. Clearly this style won't please everybody but I personnaly like it.
Return to the wastelands : 3,5*
OML goes in a space station for some reason to find himself back in the wastelands, a place apparently not much better than when he left.
Here Lemire deftly manages confusion in Logan and the reader's mind. What's true? What's not? Well done but the revelation of the confusion feels contrived (what were these people were doing here in the first place?). Seems like a pretext to open a door onto the wastelands more than anything else.
The scenes in the space station are quite creepy, those in the wastelands are a bit less interesting but I don't care much about the place to start with so...
Sorrentino does his usual tricks. Still don't like the art much but still admit his storytelling is original to say the least.
An average 3,25 rounded down.

Man that art in the first 2 issues was horrible. The vampire story itself was OK. The last 3 issues sees the return of Sorrentino. Thank goodness. Logan gets called to a space station by Puck and heads up there to be met with the Brood. Gets a little trippy but you later find out why. Cool concept I suppose. But the end? How is Logan supposed to go back to a place that now doesn’t exist? I guess I’ll find out in the next volume.

This was a weird mess. The art was a letdown. This was 2 different stories. One was a vampire story and the other was in space with The Brood. Just seemed a little random as compared to the previous Lemire stories of Old Man Logan.

The artwork has taken a dip and the stories aren't far behind. The first arc feels forced and does nothing to advance Logan's turmoil in the present or his trauma from his past. He gladly forgets about all that foolishness for a battle that doesn't fit this series at all. Sure, let's do humor and crap over the perfection we've built so far. Let's not forget that Wolvie is the best at what he does - Logan smash!
Then comes the nightmare thing which jumps around like crazy. Sure, Logan was being mind controlled, but still the story is not horror or scifi or superhero-oriented. It's a slightly smaller mess than the first arc, but not by much.
Holy crap, the names are ridiculous. Teen Abomination sounds like the name of a porn flick. Manphibian is a name for a bargain bin toy. Warwolf is a failed attempt at a cool name by putting two solid words together. Man-Thing doesn't make any sense - it might as well be Thing-Man. Vampire by Night is a name, really?! And Orrgo... damn pathetic giant putty thing.

Divided into two stories, Vol. 4 begins to interject some of the weirder sides of the Marvel Universe. First, (please don't change the artist... come on) Logan finds out that Jubilee is missing. Heading off to Romania, he joins forces with the Howling Commandos of S.T.A.K.E. (Warwolf, Man-Thing, Teen Abomination. etc) and goes off to invade Dracula's castle. The story tries to be good with Logan getting bitten, but the art is just so bad, it feels very disjointed.
The second half saves it with a mildly confusing story where Logan is two places at once: both back in the Wastelands, searching for Hulkling (see the Original Old Man Logan storyline), as well as helping Puck on Alpha Flight's stand against a Brood Invasion. He sees them almost at exactly the same time, and when adding Kang to the mix, you know we've got some issues with time travel. But Logan does realize his mistake, made so long ago, of leaving the Hulkling in the desert, and he vows to correct it, though it would take time travel to do it.

Цей том складається з двох сюжетних ліній, тому я розберу їх окремо.
Сюжет без спойлерів в двох словах. Перша лінія складається з двох випусків і розповідає про те, що Лоґан відправився до Румунії через свою зниклу подругу. По дорозі він зустрічає загін Виючих Командос, у яких схожа мета подорожі. І, чесно, от я взагалі не розумію, навіщо вони тут. Вони - це ніби просто, щоби щось було. Сильно важливої сюжетної ролі вони не виконують, окрім одного з них в кінці, але я впевнений, що можна було обійтися й без них. Просто на 2 випуски ввели близько 6-7 персонажів, яких показали зовсім трохи, майже ніяк не розкрили (бо за такий проміжок це неможливо). І от саме в цьому томі відмовилися від продовження сюжетки минулого Лоґана, хоча мені здається, що там можна було ще писати й писати.
Що хоч трохи рятує ці два випуски - це лінія Лоґана й Джубілі, бо тут вона ще показана плюс-мінус нормально. Конкретно мені роз'яснюють за цю персонажку, її особливості і т.д.. Сам головний лиходій випусків мене не сильно зачепив, особливо, коли клішовано розповідає Лоґану весь свій план. Але при цьому з точки зору сил та слабкостей лиходія він зроблений непогано, і в сюжет це вплетено логічно.
По малюнку, як на мене, все не дуже добре. Художник тут інший, спочатку здається, що стиль його прийнятний. Але далі малюнок стає все більш карикатурним, що, як на мене, шкодить серйозному тону історії. Кольори непогані, але таке відчуття, ніби малюнок не дає їм повністю показати себе.
Наступна сюжетка розтягнулася вже на три випуски. Вона розповідає про те, як Лоґан пішов допомагати своєму другу в космосі. Згоден, звучить трохи дурнувато, але все краще, ніж здається. Хоч і зав'язка нічим не виправдана, сюжет пішов в гарне русло. Частково повернули лінію з минулим Лоґана, за чим було цікаво спостерігати. Хочу зазначити, що Лемір вдало маніпулює історією, що я навіть почав сумніватися, що й де тут справжнє. Розв'язка та кінець також не підвели й зробили плавний перехід до наступного тому.
Сорренітіно повернувся і хоч його малюнок не викликає такого захоплення, як у минулому томі, він усе одно мені подобається. Та й прив'язався я до нього за ці 4 томи. Ну, а по Майоло й нічого сказати. Його кольори як були, так і лишилися крутими.
У кінці хотілося б додати, що українському видавництву не завадив би коректор. :)

Сюжет без спойлерів в двох словах. Перша лінія складається з двох випусків і розповідає про те, що Лоґан відправився до Румунії через свою зниклу подругу. По дорозі він зустрічає загін Виючих Командос, у яких схожа мета подорожі. І, чесно, от я взагалі не розумію, навіщо вони тут. Вони - це ніби просто, щоби щось було. Сильно важливої сюжетної ролі вони не виконують, окрім одного з них в кінці, але я впевнений, що можна було обійтися й без них. Просто на 2 випуски ввели близько 6-7 персонажів, яких показали зовсім трохи, майже ніяк не розкрили (бо за такий проміжок це неможливо). І от саме в цьому томі відмовилися від продовження сюжетки минулого Лоґана, хоча мені здається, що там можна було ще писати й писати.
Що хоч трохи рятує ці два випуски - це лінія Лоґана й Джубілі, бо тут вона ще показана плюс-мінус нормально. Конкретно мені роз'яснюють за цю персонажку, її особливості і т.д.. Сам головний лиходій випусків мене не сильно зачепив, особливо, коли клішовано розповідає Лоґану весь свій план. Але при цьому з точки зору сил та слабкостей лиходія він зроблений непогано, і в сюжет це вплетено логічно.
