A dragon as a fake fiance? Risky...

Dante Gildenstern, leader of the noble metal dragons, used to have it all. Wealth, privilege, women fawning all over his beauty. Now, newly awakened in the modern world, his powers are restrained and he's forced to work at a dating club with the other noble metal dragons in an effort to acquaint them with humanity and hopefully help them find mates. The only problem? Dante isn't interested in humans. That is until Ella Stanton walks in, all curves and no-nonsense, needing his help more than she may even know.

Ella Stanton needs a date and she isn't bothered by all those bad reviews for Date-A-Dragon. They're her last hope for a date to her sister's wedding in her hometown, and she isn't about to go alone. So gorgeous, golden Dante it is, despite his initial frostiness and slightly ego-maniacal behavior. He's unlike any man she has ever met, the sexiest, the strongest, and sometimes he seems to be from another world altogether. But the closer she gets to Dante, the more she realizes there might be more to this pretty boy beneath the surface.

In spite of Ella's reservations, Dante's in it to win her heart from the get go. And with a little luck and a lot of romance, the overprotective dragon just may win over his sexy mate. But even the strongest of dragons can't anticipate the dangers lurking in the mountains of Ella's hometown.

Gold is the first book in the Date-A-Dragon series! It contains ridiculously hot dragons, steamy romance, and strong, curvy women. Enjoy!

I enjoy this author's dragon books but the heroines can be really hit or miss for me and the heroine in this one was GOD AWFUL. She pretty much ruined the entire book for me. She was a whiney bitch and Dante deserved a WAY better mate IMO!

Dante Gildenstern, leader of the metal dragon is arrogant and pampered but luckily not an ass, newly awakened in 21st century, his powers are bound and he is forced to work at a dating agency with other dragons in an effort to learnt to understand humanity and hopefully gain a mate. Ella Stanton needs a date and she doesn’t care about all those bad reviews for Date-A-Dragon, as they are her last hope for a date to her sister's wedding.

In spite of Ella's reservations, Dante's in it to win her heart, and with a little luck and a lot of romance, the overprotective dragon just may win over his mate. But even the strongest of dragons can't anticipate the dangers lurking in the mountains of Ella's hometown, the question is will he be able to protect her and ease the fears of her past.

I do wish Ella had more of a kickass nature, or developed one – you can be a bookworm and fierce right? But instead Ella is quiet bookworm with a somewhat shitty family – her parents should have dealt with the bullying sister years ago, that being said I didn’t hate the parents.

This short read was a nice light little morsel.

Okay. So, I didn't get my fucking "I want to see this fucker get his ass handed to him by a kick-ass woman." type thing going on. I got more of the quiet closet bookworm with a shitty family.

Wot ??

Yeah, you heard me right. This girls family is super shit to her. Like, yo!? WTF!? The parents let this fucking barbie doll hooker (daughter 1) get married to the brother of the most biggest fucking asshole ever. AND YOUR DAUGHTER WAS FUCKING BULLIED BY YOUR GODDAMN BARBIE DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBANDS BROTHER ? FOR BEING A BOOK WORM? FOR BEING DIFFERENT.

BITCH. FUCK YOU.

Her fucking sister. If I had some way to travel into this fucking book and beat her ass, I'd do it in a heart beat.

Sorry about this rant, I'm still hot about this fucking book and I can't even.

Gold brings us into the stories of the precious metals dragons, once trapped beneath an avalanche in ancient times, now freed and adjusting to a modern world. Unfortunately for them they were deceived as to exactly who had betrayed them and before that could be straightened out they caused quite a bit of chaos to the metal dragons – which is why their dragon form and magic is collared right now as they learn the lessons needed to exist with the humans of this time. The precious metal dragons are conceited, arrogant, spoiled, entitled brats, to be completely frank. All of that may have worked for them back in the day – but it’s not going to win them any friendship awards in this day and age. To say they need an attitude adjustment is a vast understatement. The only way to earn their freedom is to prove their care and concern for humans and, oh yeah, find their mates. Good luck with that. It’s going to take some pretty amazing women to bring these dragons the love and understanding they’ll need to ever be free once again.

Dante has always been the golden child of power, pampering and entitlement – after all, he is the gold dragon. Now he’s been hired to be the pretend fiance of a woman who hides her beauty behind unattractive, loose clothing and a horrendous hair style. It’s obvious that Ella doesn’t want to be noticed, she wouldn’t even be at this dating club looking to hire a stranger to pretend to love her enough to marry her if she didn’t have to return home for her sister’s wedding. She doesn’t dare go alone so she has no choice but to hire someone and while he may be an arrogant jerk, Dante does fit exactly what she needs for this trip.

They may have far different reasons for being together right now, but if or when Dante gets his way they’ll be together for the remainder of their lives. He’s found his mate in this woman who hides who she is behind layers of emotions and fears that he doesn’t yet understand. But she is his and he will battle whatever he needs to in order to have her at his side. He probably wasn’t expecting what they faced, but Dante is not one to back down from anyone – especially now that his mate’s happiness is involved.

I was completely caught up in Dante and Ella’s romance. It’s an emotional story that will bring out your empathy for a woman who has been bullied for most of her life, and your loathing for those who made her feel this way. There are a few surprises, the occasional twist that will put things in a different light. Knowing what Dante was like from the previous series and the beginning of this story, it’s a very satisfying feeling to watch him grow into quite the amazing man as he learns Ella’s reasons for the need to hire him – and works to gain her trust and affections as well. There are some interesting factors at work in this first story of the series. It will be fun to watch how they develop over the rest of the series.

I would definitely recommend this story and this series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. An interesting concept, a bit of a mystery, danger, a loathsome villain and a glimpse of what may come for others in this series. If you’ve enjoyed the Awakened Dragons and the Rent-A-Dragon series, then you’ll want to get on board with this series from the beginning.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

I love dragons so much!! Dante is the gold dragon, the noblest of them all and as such he believes he is the best and all attention should belong to him. Arrogant should be his middle name but he has been collared and is being made to prove his willingness to fight to protect humans along side his two friends Sever and Adrien. Citrine is now in charge of the group and has devised a business called Date-A-Dragon where woman can essentially rent them out to escort them to dinners and weddings and such. The business is not going so well because while the three of them are ridiculously good looking, they are also incredibly rude. Ella has to go home for a week for her perfect sister's wedding and she needs a date, she finds Date-A-Dragon and barter a trade; she will help re-imagine their business in exchange for a date to her sisters wedding. After a rough start, Dante goes home with Ella as her date and what starts out as an arranged agreement quickly turns into so much more as the situation in Ella's hometown and the way they treat her makes everything protective and possessive in Dante stand up and take notice. Ella has been attracted to Dante from the beginning but who wouldn't, he is a gorgeous man, Dante acts attracted to Ella but she doesn't trust in it because of past experience and because she believes he is doing what he is being paid to do. I love how Dante stands up for her and treats her like the gold he treasures. I can't wait for the rest of this series!!!!

This book was much better than I expected it to be from the pretty but cheesy cover. Ella has issues but I can relate to her being panicky around her ex. The only thing that really annoyed me was how she kept refusing to talk about what happened to her with Dante. That and the fact that Dante acts like a 5 year old alot of the time.

Not bad, but nothing great either.

Dante is the gold dragon, one of the noble metal dragons. They used to hate the other metal dragons believing that they were responsible for their burial and freezing but now they know the truth. They are now subject to the oracle with their powers bound until they find their human mate and claim her. Since the noble dragons are not that handy with their hands, Citrine starts an escort service with the noble dragons as escorts. However the dragon's arrogance and attitudes are causing them to get horrible reviews.
Ellie is in a bind, Her sister's wedding is coming up and she has to go back to the town she wanted to leave behind forever. She doesn't want to ask questions about her love life and lack of a date. She finds and escort service called Date-A-Dragon. Their reviews are not the best but one escort catches her attention. She decides to contact them and offer her PR skills to improve their business in return for an escort for a week. She is glad to see the man who caught her attention is there but he is rude to her.
Dante is in shock. He opened the door to find his mate on the doorstep. Emotionally shocked he is ruder than he meant to but. Ellie almost walks out but he is able to change her mind. Now Dante has a week to convince Ellie that he is her mate and allow him to claim her. He has his hands full since Ellie's past is coming back to haunt her and her family is unique.
This is a good book with some twists and turns. At first I didn't like Dante but Ellie made him much more bearable. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

"When Dante was good, he was very, very good, but when he was bad, he barbecued people"- this has got to be my most favorite line in this book. The Noble Metal dragons were introduced in the "Rent-A-Dragon" series and now will have their own series. Since they can't fix things- well they could but it's beneath them- Citrine has decided that they will be "Date-A-Dragon" escort services so possible mates can be found. I feel sorry for Citrine because the Noble Metals don't want to cooperate. Sever has shut down, Adrien dislikes human females and Dante thinks he is entitled. It's no wonder the reviews on the company website aren't flattering. Ella Stanton has a plan. She will offer her help in getting the company on the right track in exchange for a date to her sister's wedding. Ella doesn't do romance so a "paid" escort to accompany her home is perfect and Dante would be the best choice. Ahh...the best laid plans always backfire. Dante knows Ella is his mate. Now he has to win her and then admit he is a dragon. When somebody from Ella's past starts trouble will Dante be able to protect her? What happens when secrets come out- Dante's, Ella's and the town's? This is great start to a new series. Wasn't sure how Ms. Bolryder was going to pull off redeeming the Nobles but so far so good. Ready for the next story!

This is a fantastic series of stories from the first to all the spin offs from the original series. This is the Date-A-Dragon series and it is off to a great start. I highly recommend if you have not at least read Rent-A-Dragon you should. Many of the characters were in that group may bleed into these stories. This series is about three conceited precious metal dragons. They have been collared and must find a mate to be able to shift again. Poor Citrine has been charged with this task. All is not going well with there company.
Ella needs a date for her sisters wedding. Unfortunately she has sworn off men due to bulling all through school by the boys and her sister. She also has a secret and is scared to be around Cliff. She comes to Date-A-Dragon with a deal to barter her help in exchange for a date.
Dante just happens to be the Gold Dragon and Ella's mate. He accepts the week at her parents home as her fake finance. Can he unravel the reason for his future mates fear?
Will Ella be strong enough to talk to Dante about what happened to her? What is the secret about the town she grew up in? I loved this story and give it 5 stars. "I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy without pressure to do so".

Gold book 1 in the Date-A-Dragon series by Terry Bolryder is a brilliant 5 star read.
Dante Gildenstern is the gold dragon, until recently him and his crew were out for revenge against another crew of dragons but when they found out they'd been set up by another dragon they decided to let the oracle suppress their dragon sides until they found mates. Dante feels he's too good to have a human mate, he doesn't like that women in this century are very forward so the Date-A-Dragon service gets a lot of bad reviews. Dante doesn't expect to find his mate but as soon as he sees Ella he knows he has to find a way to make her his.
Ella Stanton has to go back home for her sisters wedding, something she's not looking forward to as she was never happy there, she was bullied a lot for her weight and looks and it seemed like her perfect sister encouraged it. But going to Date-A-Dragon she finds Dante very attractive and wants him to come home with her for the wedding, but she's keeping lots of secrets which Dante slowly begins to unravel.
I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to read the books for the other dragons.

Wonderful

I love Ella's character. She is strong due to surviving bullies and Cliff. I just have to roll my eyes at Cliff. Just so stupid. Luckily Dante's arrogant attitude that covers a sweet melting gold heart kept me enjoying every moment. What a wonderful couple.

This was a really good story. I loved both Ella and Dante and really enjoyed seeing them get together. This could be read as a standalone but it doesn't give much background about the dragons, what happened to them and why their powers were taken away. While this knowledge isn't a must to enjoy the story, it's lack could be a bit annoying for some.

Ella is a business consultant for struggling businesses in the Seattle area. Ella is from a smaller town but moved away and has no interest in moving back. As a teen, Ella had a really bad experience with a guy and it killed any interest she had in men or relationships.

Dante is an ancient dragon (Gold) that was frozen (along with 2 other dragons, Silver & Platinum) for centuries, only to awaken recently. A number of dragons have woken like this over the past few years and not all are ready to live life in a world where shifters aren't known of and dragons don't exist (and humans rule). Because of the trouble that some dragons have caused, a powerful oracle has been "taking in" the newly awakened dragons and suppressed their dragon powers until they find their (human) mates.

Ella isn't interested in a relationship but she has to go home for her sister's wedding and doesn't want to go alone. She looks up some escort services and finds the "date-a-dragon" service and is astounded by how badly the business is put together and the mixed reviews (some of which are really bad). She decides to offer her services in helping the business do better in exchange for a date for her sister's wedding. Dante and the other new dragons are rather arrogant and annoyed in general with their new life and lack of dragon abilities so they're kind of grumpy and not used to the expected niceties. Ella stands her ground when confronted with the 3 men but the initial meeting doesn't go well and Dante almost realizes too late that she's his mate. Dante makes nice with Ella and manages to make things up to her enough that Ella agrees to the deal.

Dante's attitude does take a drastic turn once he has a mate to focus on and he's really happy to have a week with Ella to win/woo her. The fact that they're in a fake relationship for her family does cause a bit of an issue but Dante isn't afraid to be blatantly clear with Ella how much he wants a real chance with her. Ella always suffered in comparison to her perfect sister and an emotionally abusive relationship when she was young made her really doubt herself....so it's tough for her to trust Dante. Dante does pretty good at being patient and going at her pace, although there are some slip ups. Some unexpected drama does show up and it almost ruins the progress Dante and Ella made. It ends up being a good thing though, since it allows Dante to save the day so that he and Ella end the story together and on their way to a HEA.

This was a really enjoyable story. I liked Ella and she did have some self image issues but they weren't overly annoying. I just wish she'd have opened up to Dante about her past sooner. Dante was a jerk initially but that changed very quickly and once he was focused on winning Ella, he was pretty great. Overall, I really liked this story and it kept me solidly engaged so I would recommend it. :D

Continuing with the dragons, now we have a new series with the noble metal dragons. Dante is not really expecting to find a mate, but he does, and his whole attitude changes thanks to her. Ella is in need of a fake fiance, and she takes Dante with her to meet her family, only Dante is not the only one hiding things, and Ella's past comes to complicate things.

I liked Dante, once he stopped being so haughty and started being sweet and protective, but still respectful. Ella's situation was easy to guess, and the big revelation wasn't so big, but it was an interesting plot twist.

I will probably get bad ratings or whatever because I'm not a 4 or 5 Star review. Plus, these are MY thoughts on the book/story/writing and I refuse to fluff the review to please anyone. I even considered not writing this review, but I wish someone had warned me of these things. So, here goes:

This is the first time I read a book from this author. I went with this book because of all the 4 & 5 star reviews. At first it was a really good read. A little stilted in the writing, but pretty good. I even had a hard time putting it down. Then about 1/2 way thru things kind of went down hill. My reasons of saying this are:

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
1. At 57% you'll read....."Adrien stuck out his tongue, knowing it wasn't dignified, but not particularly caring." And....""And you like it," he said, sticking his tongue at her." REALLY????? These guys are huge male DRAGONS!! HUNDREDS OF YEARS OLD! I can NOT see a MAN, who is macho, HUGE, thinking humans are beneath them, being a DRAGON, sticking his damn tongue out unless he's doing to to french kiss someone or stick it somewhere else! And the tongue sticking out is used more than once. I'm sorry, this is just a huge pet peeve of mine when you are writing a book about MACHO men who shift into DRAGONS. Or any creature. UGH!

2. Then you will also read many many repetitive statements, paragraphs and so on. Over and Over and Over again. Goodness! Either figure out something else to say that isn't already in the story a million times or end the story. Repeating what was already said, constantly, is not entertaining. I actually skipped a lot of pages because of it.

This is a SPOILER ALERT AREA:

3. You will find out that her Father is a shifter and her Mother is not. Which makes Ella half shifter. Actually, there is a pack of shifters where Ella is from. At one point Ella thinks to herself: "I hate Shifters. I hate them! she thought as she kicked hard, trying to escape Cliff's hold. I'm going to hate them forever." UHHHHHH, isn't her Father one and HER??

END SPOILER ALERT.

I still gave this book a 3 stars because like I said at the beginning, the story really is a good one to read. It"s the writing that needs some work. And because of the story itself was pretty good, I am willing to give another of her books a go. Do I recommend it? Yes I do. I just suggest you keep in mind the things I mentioned above. If you don't have patience for repetitive writing or childish behavior for a powerful manly man, then you might want to pass this one up.

I absolutely love Ms. Bolryder's books, and I have read all of her different dragon series. Gold is the first book in the exciting new Date-A-Dragon series, and it's off to a great start! Dante is the Gold dragon, one of the noble metal dragons, along with his friends Adrien (Silver dragon) and Sever (Platinum dragon). Now collared by the Oracle, they must find their mates, and prove themselves worthy of protecting the human race. Citrine is now in charge of the noble metal dragons, and since they believe that working is beneath them, he has come up with Date-A-Dragon, where they provide women with a date for events.

I like the uniqueness of the story, the characters are great, there's lots of humor, and it's overall a fantastic story. There were a few things that kept me from rating this 5 stars though. There were some repetitive thoughts/statements throughout the story that weren't really necessary, and started to become annoying. I get that certain things are continually thought about, especially something that has caused a person trauma, but to be repeated numerous times throughout the book just seemed to be too much, especially when it took most of the story before Ella told Dante about her past. The other issue is difficult to explain without giving away spoilers, which I refuse to do. Basically, when Ella's family & town secret is revealed, there's no explanation, and it doesn't give any details about how Ella isn't effected. Just some things that I believe needed to be corrected, but they're only my opinions.

If you haven't read the previous series, Rent-A-Dragon, it is highly recommended that you do so prior to beginning this one. The author has issued a statement about this in the beginning of this book, but I noticed that it wasn't in the excerpt. The Rent-A-Dragon series is available in a boxset or individually. It is a fantastic series with lots of humor, and HEA's. You won't be disappointed with these stories.

I would recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

In this spin-off of the Rent-A-Dragon series we get to find out what happens to the noble metal dragons that so plagued our rented dragons. The Date-A-Dragon company has been formed in the hopes of getting these dragons to fall in love with human women and change their minds about protecting humans. All of these dragons have been collared to keep them from accessing their powers until they no longer pose a danger to the humans in the world.

First off is Dante, the gold dragon. He is the leader of the gang, and though he wants his collar off he cannot imagine falling in love with a mere human woman. Until he lays his eyes on Ella. She is perfect, but why doesn't see seem to know it? And why does his charm and his good looks not seem to work on her? He agrees to be her fake boyfriend to take to her sister's wedding. He has to find out what has happened to this beautiful woman that keeps her from really living life.

Ella has always known she was fat and unattractive, especially compared to her beautiful golden sister. She has avoided returning to her hometown where she was always ridiculed, and worse. She is sure no one will believe that the gorgeous Dante is her boyfriend. She just wants to read her romance novels and do her work and be left alone. Alone. She really doesn't want to be alone, but she doesn't know how to change herself into someone that a man like Dante would really want to be with.

Can Dante convince his mate that she is beautiful and desirable? Can he find out what is is about her hometown that scares her? Will he ever get this danged collar off? Read and see.

I love Ms. Bolryder's dragons. We first meet the Date-a-Dragon crew in the previous Rent-a-Dragon books where the dragons were handymen which helped them meet their mates. This group of dragons have no DIY abilities so they establish a date-for-hire business to hopefully meet their future mates.

Gold dragon, Dante agrees to accompany Ella for a week as her date/fiance and attend her sister's wedding. Ella has bottled up her past, the bullying, and mistreatment from her childhood peers. But she is determined to return home to support her sister's big day.

Together they face her family pressures, former childhood bullies, a growing attraction to each other, and their untold secrets.

Dante grew on me quickly. His cocky, yet-sensitive, entitled dragon personality is quirky and rather endearing. I had a much harder time connecting with Ella. She starts off as a strong, self-confident woman, secure in her own skin, but once returning to her hometown, becomes the frightened, insecure, almost teen-aged girl of her past.

While Dante and Ella are away, we meet Robbie, Ella's friend who's now working as the new manager of Date-a-Dragon. I cannot wait to see how she interacts with the other dragons and if one of them is her mate.

I liked this book, but I did not love it
And here is why:

There was something weird going on with Ella's family. When they arrive in Heber, Utah, the family shows up at the airport and have a weird interaction. But that could be dismissed if not for the weirdness of the dinner that evening. They are all already eating and didn't expect Ella and/or Dante to join them for the meal 🤔

Throughout the story, we learn that something happened to Ella when she was 17 years old and Cliff was the culprit.
But nobody knows, and we are never told what exactly happened.

There were also a few (maybe funny) secrets at the 73% mark of this book.
Apparently, Mountain lion shifters was an open secret in the town of Heber.
But modern Shifters are apparently not easily recognized because they smell human?
That might have been better at the start of the book for a more funnier interaction between all the characters trying to hide their secrets from each other 😅
It's a shame that the author didn't do that. Then the story would have been a lot better, in my opinion.

I did like the last secret they dropped about Robbie being a wolf-shifter.
I might pick up the next book in this series just for that interaction (because they still don't know that they are all shifters)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I love Terry's Dragons! I knew there would be problems with our noble metal dragons due to their view of their self worth and arrogance. Dante (the Gold Dragon) is used to having everyone fawn over him and when he meets Ella (who doesn't) he is a little put and acts atrociously until his friends give him a little shove. Dante's fall is such a delightful story and his earnestness in securing his mate's affections is fascinating to watch. With Ella hiding a secret fear, it takes all of Dante's new found compassion and caring to help bring her out of her shell. The added intrigue in Ella's home town gives Dante that extra kick in the pants to get him to spring into action. I love that Dante is not just a pretty face but has some unique powers that aid in his quest to protect his mate.

I want to thank the author for giving us an update on Aegis (my absolute favorite dragon - ever) and ask that she give Citrine his mate - he has been waiting sooooo long (he is the last of the Gem dragons from 2 series ago).

I received a copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed this book (I have also purchased and borrowed with Kindle Unlimited, many of her excellent books).

I loved reading this hot, sweet Dragon Shifter Love Story

It's time for the three awakened Noble Metal Dragons to settle in the modern world and show they are ready to change their arrogant uncaring ways and find their mates to care about and treasure. Now, first to go is the Golden Dragon Dante. In finding his mate, he learns to be patient and sensitive and caring, but the world is a complicated and sometimes dangerous place with also other shifters out there, some with not so good intentions. Ella has trauma and trusting issues, she needs to find a true romance and security with a good man on her side. The love scenes are hot, sexy and unbelievably sweet which leave you all tingly and achy and desiring to find your own sexy, protective lover.
Although I am wondering how on Earth they were awakened in the first place; did the oracle find them too? If so, how come they were first let loose on the world on their own unrestrained? I hope these mysteries get to be answered later on as this series progresses. Oh yeah, and maybe even sweet Citrine, the last of the Awakened Gemstone Dragons, will finally find his own destined mate and some happiness, I hope so.

There are two previous series related to this one and I read those books back to back. I found that was a mistake as the author has something of a formula that may become tedious if you read all the books in a row. It is difficult not to do that, though, because the books are like potato chips -- not much substance but tasty enough that I keep putting my hand in the bag for another.

Anyway, I took a break and read several books before I started with this series and I am glad I did. After a bit of a palate cleanser, I was ready for another taste of "dragon finds his mate". It was enjoyable to see how the author turned one of the villains from the previous books into a hero. This author likes to pick slightly chubby heroines who don't know that they are beautiful, and this one fit that mold, but at least this time Bolryder gave her a reason for her low self-esteem.

All in all, this was another good book to curl up with at the end of a rough day when I didn't want to think too hard.

Loved this latest dragon story. Dante was arrogant when we first met him in Rent-a-Dragon but now he's learning a whole different way of living. Since his powers have been curbed he has to try to find his mate and he's not happy about it. That is until he actually meets her. Ella needs a date for her sister's wedding but since she lost all faith in men many years before she doesn't know what to do until she finds the web page for Date-A-Dragon. Since her specialty is helping businesses with marketing and other things, she offers her services in exchange for Dante's services for a week. Of course, his natural arrogance almost made it impossible for her to work with him until he apologized after he realized that she was his mate and he had to woo her. Read this book to find out how an arrogant dragon learns to put his human mate first above all others and how he helps her overcome her uncertainties and fears. Can't wait to read the next. one.

Hot Dragon meets his match, in more ways than one!

We met Dante in the Rent-a-Dragon series as one of the bad guys, but he is more than that. You have to read the other series to find out why.

Ella just wants to bring someone good-looking home for her sister's wedding. She takes a chance on Date-a-Dragon, despite some pretty bad reviews. Dante does not make a good first impression, and has to work his way into Emma's good graces. I enjoyed learning more about both of them. This was more emotional than others in the books by Terry Bolryder have been. There is some serious character development in this story. I do feel you should read all her Dragon series in order: Double Dragons, Tiger Protectors, Awakened Dragons, and Rent-a-Dragon before you read this. At the very least, read the last 2 before you start this one. Things will make more sense if you do. Dragon shifters, great characters, good emotional depth are all found in this story. Enjoy!

The Gold Dragon is quite a charmer.

As always Terry Bolryder writes an excellent tale involving dragons, human mates, and other assorted characters. This book deals with the gold Dragon who is hired out as an escort to a wedding. His date just happens to be his mate, but she has some issues about herself that make getting close difficult. Ella was bullied and assaulted when younger and these issues are discussed in the story. If these are triggers you may want to skip. However, the situation is covered in a skillful way that focuses more on Dante's defending and protecting Ella now than events in the past. This pretty boy smooth talker has fallen hard and convincing Ella to believe in herself so she can accept his love is the hardest challenge of his life. Several unexpected twists in this story that just made it more delectable! I'm heading now to download book 2 in my kindle.

Lots of fluff, not enough tough

I will have to say the premise to this series was a great idea after reading the “Awakened”, “Dragons of NY”, and the “Rent a Dragon” series by Terry. However, I was severely disappointed with the plot development between Dante and Ella. Since the other sets spoke about Mercury and his plans to destroy all the other dragons, I was sincerely shocked that the “bad shifter” was not him or even a dragon at all. It felt as though Terry wanted to bring Mercury in to the storyline but he wouldn’t have fit in anywhere so to have Ella’s hometown be “different” than most seemed like a last minute stretch to just add conflict and Dante saving his mate antics. I would have rather seen more of Dante’s past and charisma than mostly a one-sided view from Ella constantly saying “I’m ugly and fat.”

I still plan on reading the next ones, Silver and Platinum in the hopes that their stories will be more climatic.

Dante thought very highly of himself. How was a noble dragon, gold, in fact.

Dante and his crew wanted to be on the good side of things. Having to wear a collar go suppress his powers, wasn't what be wanted. He needed go be mated to a human female. The nerve.
Ella needed to hire someone to pretend to be her fiance while at home for her sister's wedding. Going online and finding a dating service was iffy, but her options were how limited. Dante and his crew were posing as potential dates which could lead go a mate. Citrine set up a website and had "showings". With hope to lure a female. Ella wanted this to be strictly business. She had seem the pictures and reviews of the men available. With her business background, she also wanted go help them out. She couldn't stand a failing business, if she could help out. She decided on Dante, but her meeting with the group was anything but positive.
