WARNING- The Lost and Found Series pulls no punches. As always, there are ups and downs. Readers need to be aware that I deal with PTSD issues, suicide, and miscarriage, amputations, and a wide range of other things. But, as always, there is a happy ending for every book!!!
The Embattled Road
In the harrowing prequel to The Lost and Found series, three embattled Marines must deal with their devastating physical and emotional injuries in a world that seems to have turned against them. When the rescue helicopter crashes into his convoy in Iraq, Marine First Sergeant Duncan Wilde struggles with the loss of men, his career and the use of his body. Then his fiancée decides she has to move on with her life, and that of her unborn child by another man. Sergeant Chad Lowell knew when he went to war that it would come with a price. And it did. A young Marine under his command is killed by a landmine. Chad's left with one less leg and a mountain of recriminations. That doesn't mean he wants to be a pitied by every female he comes in contact with. Gunnery Sergeant John Palmer is furious at the hand he's been dealt. He's served his country faithfully, for many years. Now they're turning him out like a relative who has overstayed his welcome. And, since he's not even a real man anymore, maybe it is time to move on permanently. Can these wounded warriors use a friendship borne out of adversity to form a partnership rescuing others? And can they find real love in spite of their challenges?
Embattled Hearts
John Palmer hasn’t felt like a real man since he was injured during combat in Iraq. Though not content with his new life, he is mostly adapting, just like the other vets at the Lost And Found Investigative Service. When Shannon Murphy is hired on as the new office manager, life suddenly gets a lot more interesting. Before long, John finds himself wondering if he could ever be the kind of man Shannon needs. Shannon Murphy wasn’t really looking for love when she hired on at LNF, but finds herself hopelessly attracted to the sex-on-wheels former Marine, John Palmer. The man is grumpy and nearly impossible to work with, but his brand of masculinity appeals to her on a basic level. Soon Shannon is wondering just what it would take for John to want her the way she wants him. When an old enemy tries to settle a vendetta against Shannon, John insists on protecting her. Will the connection that they’ve found survive when they’re thrust into a fight for their lives?
Embattled Minds
Zeke Foster has little to no experience with women over the past couple of years, after being injured in Afghanistan. Brutally scarred, he has no expectation that he’ll ever find a woman capable of accepting him the way he is. But he can’t help but be enamored of Ember, the waitress of a local watering hole. Ember Norton’s life has turned into one devastating catastrophe after another. When the scarred soldier with the kind eyes brings some security to her life, she’s afraid to trust her luck. She’s been self-sufficient for a long time. But his wounded soul calls to her and she finds herself falling for him. In spite of the secrets he continues to keep.
Embattled Home
Failure is never an option regardless of circumstances. Chad needs to stop Lost and Found's deranged client from using the information he gathered to stalk and abuse his ex. Falling in love with the broken woman in the middle of rescuing them is definitely not the best timing. But it's also inevitable. Embattled SEAL When Preston Harper finds himself flat in a hospital bed after a botched op, he’s okay with dealing with the fallout.
Embattled Ever AfterWARNING- This is the fifth book in the Lost and Found series and as always, there are ups and downs. Readers need to be aware that I deal with PTSD issues, suicide, and miscarriage. But, as always, there is a happy ending!!!
Duncan Wilde has avoided long-term relationships very well since his fiancée left him wounded in the hospital years ago. That one harsh lesson—that he needed to guard his heart—has stuck with him for years. Besides, he's a beat up old Marine well past his time for love. The fiery young doctor from Kansas City seems to think otherwise, though. Too bad she's so damn young. Alex Hartfield grew up as a military brat, but she sees something in Duncan that makes her think of permanence and starting a family. She wants someone to come home to every night and love, and he's the first man that makes her guarded heart race with hope and excitement.
Now… as they try to understand the dangerous incidents going on around them, they fight to find common ground. But it seems as if fate has some tricks up her sleeve.
NY Times and USA Today Bestselling author J.M. Madden writes compelling romances between 'combat modified' military men and the women who love them. J.M. Madden loves any and all good love stories, most particularly her own. She has two beautiful children and a husband who always keeps her on her toes.
J.M. was a Deputy Sheriff in Ohio for nine years, until hubby moved the clan to Kentucky. When not chasing the family around, she's at the computer, reading and writing, perfecting her craft. She occasionally takes breaks to feed her animal horde and is trying to control her office-supply addiction, but both tasks are uphill battles. Happily, she is writing full-time and always has several projects in the works. She also dearly loves to hear from readers! So, drop her a line. She'll respond.
I love this author! This series is one that I will re read. It has characters I am attached to and I wish she would write their stories for years! I totally recommend!
Embattled Road - prequel novella - 4-stars Embattled Hearts - John and Shannon - 4-stars Embattled Minds - Zeke and Ember - 4-stars Embattled Home - Chad and Lora - 4-stars Embattled Seal - Harper and Cat - 4-stars Embattled Ever After - Duncan and Alex - 4-stars
I was smitten with Duncan Wilde right from the beginning and now that this series comes to an end I’m even more besotted with the man. What a wonderful character J.M. Madden created! I love him from here to the moon and I just hope that he and the Lost and Found team will appear in other series. And yet I think in this so awaited “Embattled Ever After” J.M. Madden didn’t do justice to all his alluring complexity, charm, charisma and enormous potential as a character.
I was lucky to get this box set for free on a promotion, whereas the usual price is around $10. I actually enjoyed all six stories, which were romances about wounded warriors. I thought that the writing was good and I liked how the books dealt with the realities of PTSD and physical injuries like amputations, TBI, scars, and paralysis. I also felt that the characters were well developed, and for the most part, very relatable and likeable. The biggest detraction for me was the casual and descriptive sex. In every case, the hero and heroine ended up together, presumably HEA. Why so quick to fall into bed before developing an actual relationship? Regardless, I have to say I did enjoy the books and they kept me occupied for several days.
I love JM Madden and the Lost and Found series. The people have real world problems, and they don't hide from their problems. The members of LNF are always there, willing to lend a helping hand. They are a family, the only family some of the members have. I love that LNF members have disabilities and struggles. They're not the "perfect" men we usually read. These men and women have rebuilt their lives and continue to help others long after their time in the military. They are the real alphas. The LNF series is a must read from JM Madden. The series is entertaining and heartwarming.
Get to know the men and women of Lost and Found 8n this box set as they learn to deal with horrendous aftermath of injuries received while serving their country. You will definitely have your heartstrings tugged, shed tears, rejoice in their victories and be overjoyed as they find love.
I read this series, including all the novellas, in order and truly got to know and love these characters and their stories. A huge thank you goes to J.M.Madden for shining a spotlight on the everyday trials and tribulations experienced by our wounded warriors. Also on how the 'system' is failing for so many of them.
These books were okay but predictable. The last one was the worst in my opinion. It changed POVs so much and so often, sometimes without warning that it gave me whiplash. I ended up skimming most of the last book just to get through it. The books were all predictable in that they all basically had the same story line - wounded soldier finds love but can’t accept it at first. Then within 3 days they fall madly deeply in love and get married and have either inherit children or impregnate their new partner. It was fine at first but eventually I just felt blah about the whole series. It was nice to see an author actually write about wounded veterans, or veterans in general as not many do.

Excellent series with danger, heat, suspense, intrigue and surprises. I love this book because it talks about the problems our veterans have when they come home. I know from friends of mine who made it home from the Vietnam Conflict that were in country suffered, but I doubt they knew it was PTSD. I was in the army at that time but not in country, I worked at one of the hospitals they were evaced to. My heart went out to them and the treatment they received when they came home. So if nothing else, these stories bring to light all they go thru. HEA but more to come.
This volume includes the prequel "The Embattled Road" as well as the five full-length novels that comprise the "Lost and Found" series about a group of "combat modified" men and women who have formed an investigative service that hires veterans.
Good stories, good plot lines. However,
Note: Downside (to me)-As with all the books in this series, there *are* explicit scenes. I skip them.
I discovered J.M. Madden several years ago and fell in love with her LNF series. I love a good wounded warrior story where the guy or girl has suffered but is stronger because of it and J.M. Madden really knows how to tell a great wounded warrior story!
The Lost and Found series is one of my top favorites. I loved the idea of having a security agency who only hired ex-military who had an emotional or physical injury. I was happy and proud of how these stories helped bring back the spirit and desire for life for these heroes.
I just finished the first five books and really loved them. I cried, laughed, and felt like the characters were friends of mine . Well written, a true display of honor to our veterans, and addressed some really tough subjects. Well done J.M. !!!!!
Each story was wonderful and how they intertwined with the characters was beautiful. I think it is great that no matter a soldiers come back that maybe there will someone there four them.
I don't usually read military romance but the idea of wounded heroes finding their true loves when all about them seems to be against them but highs lows thick and thin the group stays strong and love wins out
This was a great series but I was disappointed that it ended with a cliffhanger. I must admit that at one point it got boring but with the addition of Aiden it picked up. I guess that I will have to get the rest to come to a conclusion.
I liked the books but they started to all read the same. I also got tired hearing about ptsd. I know it's a big problem for returning vets, but I hate that it was talked about so much.
All of these stories were very well written. You can't help but get invested in the characters. I laughed, cried, and caught myself yelling at the guys a few times that was how drawn in you become! Fantastic read!!
Great series. Cannot wait to read the remaining stories. Laughed and cried. Each story inspired additional respect for our veterans and those that love and stand beside them.
This is a great box set with lots of great characters that are so relatable. This author does a great job with veterans and all they go through. I loved each book and enjoyed each story. Loved it!!!
I liked this entire series so much I hate to see it end. All the characters were awesome. It makes you wish you were part of their group. It would be wonderful to have them as your closest friends.
Completely love this series, one of the best...keeps your interest all the way through..exciting,dangerous and allthe loving you need...some guys and alot groups guys,also..Well maybe one for sure..LOL....ENjoy these stories, you'll fall in love ..
Awesome books. Was very impressed. Usually box sets are very disappointing with only one maybe two of the books being really good. All of these books were great.
Loved your story of True military men. I could 'm put the books down. I loved the story line for each of the books. Looking forward to more books from you.
An amazing series. I love the way the author has brought to life the Wounded Warriors in this series and the strong women who love them. This is one you don't want to miss reading.
