Anthony Bear and Christy Chapman are from two completely different worlds.

Anthony's the leader of a motorcycle gang that terrorizes Florida’s West Coast. As a child, he ran away from his family and the Cherokee Indian Reservation to enter a life of crime. As an adult, he leads a multifaceted life managing his two businesses—his legitimate landscaping venture, and his loan shark and underworld dealings. Driven by anger and betrayal, Anthony begins the hunt for Christy’s father, Van Chapman, after he runs out on a loan.

Christy’s privileged life is not as it seems. She has kept painful family secrets and hidden some of her own. She’s determined to find out the truth and expose Van, but her search delivers her right into Anthony Bear’s hands, adding kidnapping to his list of crimes.

Their worlds are as contrasting as the color of their skin. The only thing they seem to have in common is their mutual disdain for Van Chapman…and each other.

They couldn’t be more wrong.

The Iron Tiara is a spin-off novel from The Minutes Trilogy. It can be read as a standalone, and does not contain a cliffhanger.

I loved 'Nine Minutes'. So, when I saw that Beth Flynn had published a spin-off, I was all over it. No way was I going to miss anything remotely related to Grizz and Ginny!

'The Iron Tiara' is the story of Anthony Bear and Christy Chapman. If you've read 'Nine Minutes', you'll remember Anthony as the leader of the "rival" biker gang on Florida's west coast and Grizz's best friend. This book shows a softer side to the intimidating biker.

Like Grizz and Ginny, Anthony and Christy's relationship began with an abduction and captivity by the leader of a dangerous biker gang. That is where the similarities end though. Christy was an adult at the time she was taken. Anthony's motives were also much different than Grizz's.

While Grizz stole Ginny because he wanted her and had every intention of claiming her as his woman, Anthony did not set out to possess Christy. In fact, he loathed her initially. Their relationship evolved as Anthony watched her and came to realize that his preconceived notions about who she was were entirely unfounded.

Anthony took Christy as leverage. Her step-father owed Anthony a lot of money and Anthony planned to hold her hostage until he paid up. Unfortunately, Christy wasn't the cherished princess that Anthony had envisioned. In fact, her relationship with her step-father was probably worse than Anthony's relationship with him was.

After Christy's step-father, Van, skips town, Anthony continues to keep Christy as his prisoner. As the reality that he isn't coming back begins to dawn on him, he decides to keep her for entirely different reasons. He wants her, whether he is ready to admit it to himself or not.

Meanwhile, it becomes evident that Anthony isn't the only one looking for Christy. Her step-father's careless spending placed her on the radar of some very dangerous people. It is then that her captor transitions to the role of protector.

Despite the captivity theme, the relationship between Anthony and Christy develops over time. Anthony woos Christy gradually, even though he recognizes his feelings pretty early-on. Don't expect any type of sex slave scenarios to play out here.

I enjoyed the slow burn of their relationship. Likewise, the glimpses of Grizz and Ginny's story, told from a new POV, were a nice touch. Seeing the worlds of these characters intersect and putting the pieces together to form a more robust history was really nice.

That being said, I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as 'Nine Minutes'. Don't misunderstand me, it was great. 'Nine Minutes' is a tough act to follow.

In the end, I though that this was a wonderful spin-off. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm still dying to get my hands on the next book in the 'Nine Minutes' series and this book provided some extra background and paved the way for what is to come. I cannot wait!

With each book Beth Flynn releases, I love her more and more. Her story telling abilities blow me away. The Iron Tiara was fierce, unpredictable, unique, emotional, and gritty.

While reading The Nine Minutes trilogy, I couldn't help but be curious of Grizz's friend, Anthony Bear. When I heard we were getting his story, I was elated. Beth didn't disappoint when it came to Bear. There were some parts in this book that were insanely brutal. They actually shocked me. Bear was bigger and meaner than Grizz in a lot of ways, but was different when it came to Christy. I loved seeing the romantic side of Anthony.
She invaded his heart, his muscles, his bones. Christy even flowed through his blood.

Christy was a heroine with a huge heart, but a lot of grit. She was fierce and fabulous. It's not often there is a heroine with my name, and was so happy to read one that was so amazing! Yay!! I know I said this earlier, but it stands to be repeated. Some of the scenes with Bear really were brutal and hard to read. This book is not for the faint of heart!

The Iron Tiara can be read as a complete stand-alone, but lovers of The Nine Minutes trilogy will get some nice tie-ins. This book was full of twists, turns, and surprises. I love that it kept me guessing and kept me fully engaged. Beth Flynn has written another hit with The Iron Tiara. After reading it, all I want is MORE. More of these characters, more of this world, and more of Beth's fantastic stories! I truly loved this one and give it 5 stars!!!
"You're the better half of my soul, Anthony."

This review is going to be as spoiler free as I can possibly get it, just prepare yourself for one crazy crazy ride, Anthony is like no biker I know most men prefer guns and knifes this man has a machete which is an extension of him. Blood and gore, murder and mayhem, all go hand in hand harmoniously.

THE IRON TIARA: is a Nine Minutes standalone spin off novel by ‘Beth Flynn

Like a crazy woman on crack I was overly excited when I saw Beth Flynn mention that she was going to do a spin-off of the Nine Minutes series and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it, Nine Minutes and the others that followed were my all time favourites.

This starts off in the year 1978 and progresses through the years to present time

In 1978 - Anthony Bear owner of Native Touch Landscape and Design had recently learned from his book keeper that a client of his was in arrears of the sum of seventy thousand dollars and had skipped town.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This flits from the past to the present frequently and effortlessly, we get in depth knowledge of Anthony’s family history, where he came from, how he’d made his money. We’re also thrown back in time to Grizz and Kit and all those feels where these two are concerned are as strong as they were in the 9 minutes trilogy.

Anthony and Christy meet in an unconventional way, both are from different walks of life, she walks the straight and narrow and he breaks the law left right and center. He's the leader of a notorious motorcycle gang and she fits in having high tea in a posh establishment. As different as chalk and cheese, even down to the colour of their skin.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Christy is the daughter of the man that owed Anthony a shit ton of money, he uses her as leverage to get his money back, even if it means kidnapping her. But at what stage do the lines become blurred?

Slowly the captor becomes enthralled by the kidnapper, a soul searing deep to their bones undeniable connection that has them both reeling.

With each kiss, each caress, each whisper they experienced a mating of their souls that connected their hearts. She invaded his heart, his muscles, his bones.

This book will put you through the paces you’ll be captivated within the storyline as soon as you open that first page. Love, redemption, vengeance, murder, and forgiveness all go hand in hand in this compelling novel.

Two hearts connected with strands of gold. My heart will always hold. Safe by my side, you will always be. My forever love, you belong to me.

This ticked every single box I could've prayed to the book gods to cover, the dark, the grit, the love, the all consuming emotional turmoil this took on my emotions, the love I felt for these characters, reconnecting with old love #Grizz *sighs* Bliss, pure utter bliss. I was in the zone, my happy place reading this, life was put on hold, the phone went unanswered, the house looks like I've let the farm animals have a party, I breathed, lived, inhaled this book and most of all I loved every single second, minute, hours I spent within the novel.

She’d invaded his heart, his muscles, his bones. Christy even flowed through his blood, and he knew that any separation from her would be tantamount to having his heart ripped from his chest.

In THE IRON TIARA, Beth Flynn brings us back to the intense, gritty, and sometimes extremely violent world that the outlaw MCs of Florida live day in and out. Again, she has woven together a plot that will pull you in and you’ll never truly know the full story until she has peeled back each intricate layer through the carefully timed pace of her masterful writing. We go back and forth through time, from 1958 to the early 2000’s and we are reunited with the main characters that we loved in ”NINE MINUTES”. The timelines coincide with the early years of Grizz and Kit’s marriage and throughout the book, their friendship with Anthony and Christy only further endeared them in my heart. It was a real treat to get to spend this extra time with them. But that is not to say that I didn’t grow to love the main characters of this book and I know that readers are going to love Bear and Christy’s story!

Anthony Bear did not have an easy life. His parents were far from the best of role models and at the age of twelve he became an orphan and for a short time, he lived with his aunt and uncle. He was a really good kid with a tender heart and always looked out for those who were less fortunate than him. This endeared him to his aunt and uncle and it caused animosity from his cousin towards him. Not wanting to create any unnecessary drama for his family, he ends up leaving home and heading towards Florida where his skills as a mechanic and theft of expensive automotive parts land him a job at an auto body shop. As the years pass, he gets involved in many illegal ventures and because of his reputation and domineering presence, he became the Leader of one of Florida’s many outlaw MCs. When he finds out that one of his high profile clients has been consistently failing to pay back a loan to him, he sets out to take something as collateral to ensure that he will be able to collect on that debt. The moment Anthony sees the man’s young and beautiful daughter, Christy Chapman, his plan is set into motion.

Anthony and Christy’s romance is not one that starts off as ”love at first sight” and it’s not all ”hearts and flowers” but there are times that their story and Anthony’s love for Christy were beyond heartwarming. At first glance it would appear that these two couldn’t be more opposite and wrong for each other but as the story progresses you realize that they are two pieces of a puzzle that fit so perfectly together. Being a Native American during the 50s-70s, Anthony dealt with a lot of ignorant and racist people. One of his many jobs was working for a Landscaping company and many wealthy white women would lure him into their beds only to later ridicule him whenever he was in their presence in a public setting. This instilled extreme bitterness in him towards privileged white females. The moment he sees Christy getting out of her sports car at her parent’s house, he automatically drew his own conclusions about her. He decides to keep her as a hostage until her father pays back his debt, even though she advises him that there is bad blood between them and that she is far from the best bargaining chip for Anthony to use.

It is not until he is glued to the hip with Christy at his secluded cabin that Anthony begins to see there is so much more to her and that he was actually the one who was close minded and only seeing the color of her skin instead of what was in her heart. Once that realization sets in, Anthony starts having to deal with emotions he’s never encountered before. No woman has ever captivated him as much as Christy. He and his close friends would consider it a cold day in hell before a woman could ever steal Anthony’s heart.

Chapters that take place in the past are intermittently dispersed throughout this story and they only helped to further intensify and grasp my undivided attention. I grabbed on to every new morsel of information and even then I wasn’t able to predict all the surprises that lay ahead. Truly magnificent story telling!!

I loved how the romance builds between Anthony and Christy. Anthony’s devotion for Christy was giving me all the hearts and flowers feelings which would seem odd since the man is capable of truly heinous acts of violence, but often times the anti-hero can prove to be the most swoon worthy!

There are several intriguing chapters that revolve around Anthony’s right-hand man, X, and his younger sister, Nisha. I have a feeling based on the attention that was paid to these two and other secondary characters, that this just may be the beginning of another addicting series created by the talented Ms. Flynn!

4-4.5 unique stars ❤

For one more time Beth Flynn delivers a beautiful and unique story. The writing was fantastic and the pacing incredible that once you start it you can't put it down, only when you finish it and you wish there were more.Because this world was fantastic and I love that we could see again Ginny and Grizz! I really don't want to get into the plot itself, you just need to know that it was compelling and I was intrigued to see what will happen next.

Welcome to the literary world of Beth Flynn . She's a chronicler of an age old story of Love set in Floridian Gator-alley . It travels from coast to coast from the 70's to present times
She will create a mythical world for you. Place some colourful , imperfectly perfect people . She will expand their lives and environment . Make them walk through gauntlets of pain and hardships. All the while her narration will cover months, years, decades. But every word that she puts on the paper is there for a reason . Not a single sentence is written without a carefully thought through plot. A character here, a dialogue there, are tiny hints , all chainlinked to form a larger than life masterpiece .
If I thought that she couldn't surpass the minutes trilogy in depth, imagination and expanse , I stand corrected . I admit that happily
Her writing is otherworldy. It transports you to another era where what she says , goes. You believe in all her secrets, you fall in love with her people , you hate her villains. Its like She's a master puppeteer holding us captive to her beautiful words
She made the Ferocious Anthony Bear so powerfully dangerous and badass and Christy Chapman so dove , dainty and pure , their alliance almost unimaginable

Anthony Bear and Christy's story somehow manages to revive old love memories for Grizz and Kit but also make me fall in love with Bear and his Owani. His story had me spellbound !
There are so many corkscrew twists , it gave me vertigo !! Anthony Bear picks up Christy Chapman as a collateral and there starts her phase of life where she will experience love, betrayal, courage and happiness
She's an unfortunate heiress who'll fall for a criminal. The most unlikely, mismatched pair will have to endure innumerable stumbling blocks and roadbumps, yet Christy's tenacity and courage will help her bear the weight of the Iron Tiara, that lies so heavily on her head

“Two hearts connected by strands of gold.
My heart you will always hold.
Safe by my side, you will always be.
My forever love, you belong to me.”

The most fascinating thing occurred to me. Beth wrote a perfectly matching piece of story that fit all the chronicled ,jagged edges of Grizz's story. Every anecdote fit perfectly.
Brilliance of a Natural Born Writer !! Bravo Beth !

I was held hostage, trapped within the confines of my Kindle, mesmerized by the world Beth Flynn created in The Iron Tiara. She has a magical way of stringing words together, delivering an epic tale filled with such dynamic and memorable characters, it’s all consuming. Anthony Bear and Christy Chapman’s journey was not what I had envisioned as the spin-off to The Nine Minutes series, (I was hoping for Mimi's story) but thrilled to have experienced it just the same. Once again, Flynn overwhelmed me with another heart stopping, savagely brutal yet emotionally touching romance so gripping; I could barely tear myself away from this read.

Admittedly, I went back to Nine Minutes and re-familiarize myself with this couple and their situation, as they played a minor role in Grizz and Ginny’s story. Although this is a standalone novel, some characters involved and the events that unfold do run parallel to the trilogy. If you have not experienced the brutal beauty of The Nine Minutes Series, I do recommend reading to appreciate this story.

Anthony Bear fascinated me. As the story begins, I met the adorable little boy struggling to take his place within a newfound family, learning about his Native American culture from his uncle, the tribes' chief. In a blink of an eye, gone was the sweet child and in his place – a ruthless murdering loan shark capable of kidnapping the innocent daughter of one of his debtors, Christy, for ransom. Anthony lacked compassion, void of any emotions except for anger and bitterness, and had zero regards for anyone other than a handful of friends, his sister, and eventually his woman Christy.

His cruelty rivaled that of Grizz, as Anthony was truly heartless and so gruesome at times, his actions had me cringing. Shockingly, I was drawn to this ultimate Alpha bad boy like a moth to a flame. It was his relationship with Christy (at first combative then tender, self-sacrificing, fiercely protective, and loving) that had me falling for this black-hearted anti-hero. How a man so cold was capable of such deep, pure, and devoted love astounded me. I cannot rationalize my affections for his character other than the mystical powers held within Flynn’s prose. A testament to this author’s writing talents as she had me falling in love with such a vicious dark soul.

At first glance, the princess and her captor seemed worlds apart. Bear ruling one of Florida’s most notorious criminal biker clubs as Christy came from a prominent and wealthy family. As I’ve come to learn, they are not all that different. Soul mates of sorts, they belonged together, both holding tight to their secrets and sins that slowly unraveled as the bonds of love, trust, and understanding blossomed between them. Christy surprised me, as she was nothing like Anthony (and I) judged her to be. Generous to a fault and compassionate to those she loved, Christy was the absolute opposite of the perceived spoiled little rich girl persona. But hidden behind all her feistiness lived a broken woman riddled with fears and sorrow. Learning all she survived, all the heartaches from her past, utterly shattered me. It was under Anthony’s protective and gentle care, unlike his brutal nature, which brought Christy’s character to life.

Exceptionally well-written and filled with nail biting plot twists, The Iron Tiara was an intense read. A long and descriptive story that traversed decades, I savored every moment of Anthony and Christy’s journey – from anguish and pain, to their joys and love, it was a wild ride. My only wish was to make a greater connection with their characters; to crawl inside their minds and experience their world first hand, as opposed to witnessing the story unfold from the third person point of view. Regardless, this was an amazing story and must read for fans and lovers of MC romances.

Having loved the Nine Minutes trilogy and Tethered Souls I decided to read Anthony and Christy’s book. I have to read something while I wait for Slades book. That’s assuming Slade is getting a book....
This is another good read with yet another kidnapping (a definite thread runs through these) only this time Christy is taken as blackmail material against her father’s debt.
It turns out it’s her stepfather and she hates him more than Anthony does.
While it’s obvious to us they can really help each other Anthony in particular is burdened with a preconceived idea of what Christy will be like. He can’t see past what’s in front of him as he projects his expectations onto her.
Obviously time pulls them closer and he has to admit where Christy is concerned he was way off base.

I really enjoyed this and while it wasn’t Nine Minutes it was still a good read.

DNF @55%

I’ve been DNFing more and more books lately. I have to say that some of them make me feel bad about doing so, but I just can’t help it. RL has been chaotic and I have no time to waste in a book that is not picking up my interest. I can’t seem to force myself to go further to see if the story is going to get better as I usually did before. My patience is nowhere to be seen at the moment.
So, here I go. Another one for my pile.
I just don’t care enough to keep going to see what’s coming next.
The story is predictable, the plot is weak, the characters are giving me too many eye roll moments but worst of all is the fact that the MCs have no chemistry, at all. Zero, zilch, zip, nada, nothing.
Freaking hell!!! Almost forgot to mention: we get insta love here, which is a pet peeve of mine.

When dangerous men look like angels and dark secrets abound…

4,5 “I never saw it coming” stars.

The Iron Tiara crowns Beth Flynn as “Queen of Plot Twists”.

If you follow me you should know by now that I’m a major Beth Flynn’s fan. Her Nine Minutes trilogy really blew me away. If you’ve never read it and are looking for a story happening in the MC world with an extraordinarily solid plot filled with twists you never saw coming JUST READ IT!

I was really excited when I learned Beth was publishing a new book. I already knew it would be about Anthony Bear and Christy a couple we met in her previous trilogy and could not wait to read it.

What can I say now?

-looks are deceiving;

-this is not for the faint of heart as you’ll have very hard scenes;

-you’ll have twists aplenty and the biggest is in the last pages (never saw it coming!);

-this is an unconventional love story;

-if you can’t stand love/lust at first sight don’t read it;

-it was riveting and sometimes I literally forgot to breathe;

-Beth Flynn has earned her place in my Best Authors pantheon with flying colors.

Let’s flesh out these facts now.

-Looks are deceiving

Anthony Bear has one of the most handsome face and body you could meet. Native American, tall, muscled, long dark hair, high cheeckbones he is described as nearly mesmerizing and… he is a ruthless outlaw. He will kill you in heartbeat, preferably with his machete and really slowly if you infuriated him. He is like one of these panthers: beautiful but deadly.

Christy Chapman is small, blonde with blue eyes and curves in the right places. She has a huge fortune but she is not your traditional uppity heiress. Anthony believed her to be a cold entitled and spoiled brat whereas she is one of the most generous and caring persons I’ve read about. Mind you she’ll even have pity of a deformed goat offering the animal a second chance and a mate!

Anyway Anthony will need time for his thick skull to admit he was wrong about Christy!

“For the first time in their very short acquaintance, he saw her as more than a spoiled, rich brat. He saw her as a human being. He saw her as someone who cared beyond her bank balance and her fancy car dealership and family mansion.”

And yet that’s not all what Christy is!
Life has hit her so many time that she’s got now a thick skin and will take some actions I never believed she was capable of. I adored this chick!

-Not for the fain hearted

As explained with Anthony’s look and behavior this is a MC book with all it entails. Bear is a ruthless boss you won’t want betray. Bear is an outlaw and will never hesitate to torture his enemies. Especially if you hurt HIS woman! So if you can’t stand torture beating or hint at rape scenes don’t read this book. Even if it’s far from a dark romance you still have graphic violence.

Teaser1

-Plot twists alert!
The Iron Tiara is a romance. It’s Anthony and Christy’s love story albeit unconventional above all else BUT… Beth could not keep it simple. I swear this woman loves surprising her reader! The bigger and most unexpected twist the better. Even when you did not think there was a catch you’ll find one! It makes for a very captivating pace as you fall into the love story get your bearings, become comfortable and then BAM! you fall on your behind knocked out by some twist or dark secret. I literally forgot to breathe some time!

-Unconventional love story

Not only is it unconventional as Anthony Bear is Native American, born into poverty and an outlaw whereas Christy is a white heiress but the speed of the romance and its violence make it unconventional. No one would have expected these two to fall for each other. Their first encounter was …confrontational and Bear hated Christy. He thought her a snotty chick. "I'll make this simple," he told her, looking down at her with a scowl. "This can go down easy, or it can go down not so easy. It's your choice, and either way I win. (…) Her eyes widened, and he saw an expression he recognized. She thought he was going to rape her. He almost scoffed out loud. For starters, he wasn't a rapist. He didn’t have to force himself on women. If anything, he had to swat them off like flies. Second, she was so far from his type, it was laughable. Of course this blonde bimbo would think he wanted to rape her. The only way the stupid savage would ever be able to have a spoiled, entitled white woman like her would be to take her by force. He instantly hated her.”
When he’ll fall for her he will fall fast and hard. Hence my “if you don’t love insta love story stay away” warning.

Huge bonus in my books Anthony is Uber Alpha! Like Grizz did with Kit Bear will protect his woman. He can be the most frightening son of a b@tch he will be so sweet with his Owani. I LOVE when the big bad Alpha becomes a kitten in the hands of his sweetheart ;-)

Teaser2

So this is the unexpected, brutal and unconventional love story of an outlaw and an heiress. You’ll forget to breathe like I did due to plot twists and unearthed secrets. You will also swoon witnessing Anthony’s protectiveness towards Christy and cry some learning what happened to her. And you will pray for a second machete just to help Anthony meting out his personal brand of justice.

I can’t wait to read the next book about the kids!!!!

Would I recommend it? Hell yes!

I loved the spinoff and background story of Anthony Bear and Christy Chapman. Beth Flynn's weaving storylines from Nine Minutes to theirs was beautifully done. The book was intense, at times dark and the plot masterfully executed. Christy's past history is one for the books and a story I'll enjoy rereading again and again!

I love this authors writing skills. She not only tells a good story but she gives us a rollercoaster of emotions. The characters were so amazingly well written. A tough crimal who is not scared to love . AnthouBear is hardass but so goooooood at loving his woman. Her name is Christy. These two fall hard for each other. The love emotions they go through. The angst they put each other through. A must read.

The Iron Tiara by Beth Flynn is so much more than I could ever imagine.

Flynn took Anthony & Christy's story and blew all my expectations out of the water. You'll find yourself completely captivated by the storyline that is filled with adventure, mayhem, love, revenge, redemption, and forgiveness.

I was so proud to see Flynn present her readers with such a strong heroine. Yes Christy has demons from her past, and she's facing so many obstacles that it could crush her. But she proves she is strong and caring, even when she has doubts about her own fate. And that ...
#NoneOfYourBeeswax is what this girl means when she means business!

Anthony is one of those characters that you are immediately drawn to. He is used to being a leader and having his way. Facing off with Christy proves to be more than he bargained for. But if anyone is up for the task, it's Anthony Bear! Who is not only hot, but level headed and loyal. And make no mistake, he will do whatever he has to to keep those he cares about safe.

This is a must read!!! Flynn will grab you by the heartstrings and not let go until the very end. And even then she leaves you with a pounding heart and a desire to read the whole book all over again.

Absolutely loved!!!!

5 Huge Stars

In fact, I do not know how to describe the feelings after reading the story. Anthony and Christy are different like day and night, but on the other hand they are the same. The story is cruel and brutal but still a love story. The author once again proved that she is a master in the MC world, her style of writing is unique that pulls you and where the goal justifies actions.

AWESOME AWESOMNESS!
This was a great read, and brought back so many memories of Grizz, Kit and the gang.
I have never read a series that affected me as much as the Nine Minutes Series did, and to get the bonus of Anthony Bear's story, was just the icing on the cake!
I loved the flash back parts where we got to revisit at the motel, and refresh our memories, with the parts from the Nine Minutes Series that were relevant to this story. Ms Flynn has mixed the two together perfectly, and this could be read as a stand alone if you by any chance haven't read her incredible work before this book.
it was wonderful to follow Bear through good times and bad, and see him finally find his heart again, all thanks to Christy.
I'm hoping that Beth will be able to find it in her to continue writing in this manner, there are of course a couple of roads opened up within this story for her to take, so I really hope she does.

Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world, and giving us the opportunity to meet all your incredible characters.

Love you, Beth ❤️

"The Iron Tiara" had Beth Flynn written all over it and if you've read the "Nine Minutes" series, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. If this author is new to you, then all I can say is, buckle up peeps, because you're in for the ride of your life!!!! "The Iron Tiara" was such a fucked up love story that should never have worked. I mean seriously, there was so much wrong with it, I should have run for the hills screaming blue murder and taken the heroine with me it was that wrong. BUT (and it's a massive big BUT), omg didn't it just feel so very right? It's difficult to explain what I mean without giving too much away but Beth Flynn did such an amazing job in writing Anthony Bear and Christy's story, that she had me rooting for this couple every step of the way, from their first encounter to the moment I turned the last page.
An heiress and a criminal, he thought. Not exactly a match made in heaven and by normal standards, one that could only end in doom.

Anthony Bear and Christy, as the quote above says, an heiress and a criminal? Like I said, this should never have worked. Not in a million years. I mean for starters, the way this couple met was as far from conventional as you can get. Then of course the fact that they couldn't have been more opposite if they tried. Anthony was the leader of a notorious biker gang and a criminal of the worst kind. I'm talking torture and murder, machetes and mayhem. I'm talking, if you cross this man, the chances are you will suddenly vanish off the face of the earth. Yeah, not the kind of man you'd take to meet your momma that's for sure. And then you had Christy Chapman, heiress to Bobby Bowen's Luxury Auto's. A woman who stayed on the right side of the law. A woman who was privileged from the day she was born. A woman who never wanted or needed anything. You know that saying "never judge a book by its cover?" Well that couldn't have been more true than in the case of these two characters. Boy did these two get it so horribly wrong and I loved being a fly on the wall as they each made the discovery that all was not as they had initially thought.
It had taken Anthony a while to see that the black and white world he'd lived in was filled with more shades of grey than he'd wanted to admit.

Anthony Bear may have been a criminal but there was a side to him that just melted me. This big brute of a man had such a tender, protective side to him and god help anyone that hurt those he held close because once that beast was unleashed, there was no going back. And Christy, wow I loved this sarky, sassy, feisty woman who had a strength that ensured she was not a push over but equally, just like Anthony, had a tender, caring and very giving side that made me instantly warm to her.
"I can never see myself being crazy about an overbearing, bullying, kidnapping, stubborn criminal. Especially an old one. Never!"

Told alongside the same time line as "Nine Minutes," "The Iron Tiara" was a story steeped in secrets. Along with those secrets came a constant stream of questions for which I couldn't wait to get answers. In true Beth Flynn style, there was also a flurry of curve balls, twists and of course those jaw dropping revelations that left my head spinning. I loved that this author didn't always keep us hanging on to get answers and some times, questions and queries were resolved pretty quickly. I will say though, towards the end it did feel like there was an excessive amount of revelations which (for me), diluted the shock value somewhat.
A storm is brewing all right, he thought as he scratched his chin. A storm that had completely ravaged his heart and pierced his soul. A storm called Christy Chapman.
"The Iron Tiara" was one of those books that was a contradiction in itself. It was brutal, harrowing and pretty graphically violent yet at the same time there really was a beautiful, tender, heart felt love story that deserved to get its airplay.

A great addition to the "Nine Minutes" series that gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Another exceptional read by Beth Flynn. It evolves around a character we meet in Nine Minutes, Anthony Bear. Bear is the head of a MC on the opposite coast and to most he and Grizz are enemies. Yes, Grizz are favorite character in the Nine Minutes series. Him and Kit make an appearance in this book. He is owed major money, he isn't paid so he kidnaps the daughter of man. These two people having one thing in common, the hatred of the man. There are a lot of plots twists and turns. There are times where I felt that there were too much going on within the book but all in all it was a great read.

Hmm, I have to say I liked Nine Minutes more, but perhaps it's unfair to compare the two.

One little detail that I really really disliked!!

I did however like the fact that Christy was not a weakling, she had money therefore independence of her own, it's not usual in novels such as this one, so I liked that.

If you haven't read Beth Flynn's Nine Minutes trilogy, I really think you should before starting this book. There's quite a bit of crossover and I would classify some of those things as spoilers. I read and loved the Nine Minutes books. They're great stories that tie together beautifully. Reading these three books first will give you a better insight when you start The Iron Tiara.

This spin-off novel is well written and engaging. It holds your attention through all the twists and turns. For me, the characters themselves are the best parts of Beth Flynn's books. She seems to so effortlessly bring them to life, making them almost palpable.

Bear is an exceptional character. He is true to himself and unapologetic for his actions. He's lethally notorious and widely feared. As his character develops, the target of his loyalty may be changing and being protective is something relatively new to the fierce man.

Christy is not what she seems and is much deeper than she first appears. There is definitely more than meets the eye with her.

So on to my only criticism...
Now I realise that I've just raved about the characters but this is a double edge sword. My criticism is that there are so many sub-characters that are instantly compelling and easily draw you in. My issue here is that they could have "appeared" and enticed us but then had their own books. As it is, I felt like I was given their entire story compressed into a sub-characters' small part in this book instead. I am left feeling like I know their story but was cheated of the indepth details.
I really cannot explain this feeling more adequately, without including a spoiler and of course this is only my humble opinion.

I must stress though that this book is definitely worth reading! It's stormy, passionate and the characters intense.

*Read the Nine Minutes trilogy first though...

Before I begin, if you're wondering if you should read the Nine Minutes trilogy before reading this book, the answer is is no. This book can be read as a stand alone. But I must warn you, if you haven't read the NM trilogy, you're going to wish you had after reading this book. Not because you will miss anything. But because this book is that good!
Now that we got that out of the way, let's get down to it.
As some of you may know, Anthony Bear and Christy are characters that were introduced in the Nine Minutes trilogy. Their story in the book was vague, but not so vague where I kept wondering what their story was, especially with what little information was given. But, I am not going to bore you with a synopsis of their story.
When I started reading this book, I knew I was going to to be transported to another world and era, and I was totally okay with that. Beth has a talent for weaving stories that can be easily played out like a movie in my mind. I knew Anthony was bigger and meaner than Grizz from Nine Minutes. Beth did a fantastic job in showing readers how Anthony got to be the big bad dude he was. The same with Christy. With Christy, the first impression isn't always the best impression and in true Beth fashion, things aren't always as they seem. As Anthony began to figure this out, his connection to Christy grew stronger. After revealing the hardships of the two characters, I fell in love with both of them as a couple. There are some dark elements in the book, some plot twists that had me on the edge of my seat, some heart wrenching and funny moments. I knew there would still be unanswered questions by the end of the book. But I am okay with that, because it allows me to take my imagination a little further in my mind and hope that they will be answered in another book.
I had the cheesiest grin when I saw my favourite and memorable characters sprinkled through out this book. Readers will also meet new characters, who will, not surprisingly, have intriguing stories of their own. There are villains in this book. One In particular, made me so angry I wanted to scream and throw my Kindle. But instead, I plotted out the character's demise in my mind. See! That's how fantastic Beth's writing is!!! The myriad of emotions I felt while reading this book is what prompted me to give this book five stars. Beth has a phenomenal way of drawing you in and holding you captive with her stories.
If you want to read a book that makes you feel like you are right there personally, watching it unfold, with the all of the emotions you could possibly feel, then you should read this book!
