Sweet, touching and a bit funny. We get an answer for the big surprise at the end of the previous issue and a bit of hope for future. The ending leaves you in the air, as always...

A satisfying follow-up to last month’s amazing issue. It’s not as packed with events but it does provide some explanations to that ending, and while I wasn’t fully content with the answer we got, I was glad it was something that served the plot and it wasn’t there only for shock value. I’m looking forward to the next issue because I like it when Saga gets creepy and Fiona really knows how to do horror, her artwork is terrifying without going overboard.

That last page!!!

Petrichor for sure is becoming one of my favorite characters, as she guards the tree until the guys return, she doesn't really know what's waiting for them in the Badlands. Alana doesn't listen when people give advice and I hope none of the family members will have to pay for this!

The issues keep getting more intense, how are we supposed to survive until the endgame?! Also, that awkward moment when the three horsey bigots are actually right about the monsters living on their planet... Sorry people don't listen to your warnings, I guess? xD

PS: Dear Brian, Alana better leave this stupid place without another scratch (emotional or physical) or else...

Holy crap, that was incredible. I'm so happy to have that feeling of not being able to take another breath until you get to the next page or be struck in the heart with yet another crushing blow. This issue was a favourite of mine because it picked up on a cliffhanger and featured the family heavily as well as someone they haven't seen in awhile. It's funny that this issue picked up on a cliffhanger moment as well because it ended with another that was totally creepy and I'm very worried for them all now.

Ah the bittersweet possibilities of might-have-beens.

Also, what fresh hell is this now?

Looking forward to the next issue, Saga #46 that's not coming soon enough for my taste.

It's extremely difficult to rate the individual chapters, therefore the following is a review of the eighth volume. In other words, chapters forty-three through forty-eight.

Volume eight of Saga was another addictive read that had me hooked on every page. Once again, the story managed to demonstrate why this is the only graphic novel series I have remained committed to.

As with the other volumes, volume eight manages to include so many topics into a story that is humorous, heart-warming, and heart-breaking all in one. As you need to have read the prior volumes to understand this one, you’ll know there are some heavy storyline details in this one. However, they do not come across that way (serious, yes, but not heavy) due to the way in which the story unravels. It manages to pull you in deeper and leaves you eager for more.

Once again, Saga managed to pull me deeper into the world. I cannot get enough.

I love seeing Vaughan and Staples effortlessly blending genres -- a little bit of horror and western to complement the scifi foundation of the series. There's also a good dose or REAL-PARENTING in this issue, too, as the family spends some time with Alana's projection of the miscarried baby, Hazel's would-be younger brother. This is so touching and heartbreaking, and even more so re-reading the issue now that my daughter is playing with her own little brother and loving him so much. Raising two kids is SO MUCH HARDER than raising one, but seeing them starting to bond with each other and play together makes it all worth it.

Alana has a great moment where she grapples with the phantasmic, hollow nature of the projection though -- this is what she *imagined* the child to be, which is so much less, so skewed from the 'messy, beautiful reality.' Here, here.

This is an excerpt of Nerdent's review of Saga #45 (http://www.nerdent.net/2017/07/26/new...
The illusion of the child is alive and well as every member of the family is able to talk and interact with him. The negative side is that as he remains Alana grows weak in the vast wastelands causing her to die. This story is best advised for older readers as the material is graphic but for us bigger kids it contains a great deal of fun. Is this the end for Alana and her powers or is.

It's cliche at this point for me to say "guys, guys, this chapter of Saga broke my heart like no other!"
Volume 5 and 7's ending's both give me chills of haunted reflections- but there is a panel in this issue that just moved me like few before it.
I consider any story that can make me 'teary eyed' to be a miracle worthy of not only my attention- but admiration.
Bravo!

PS: Maybe it's because I love Petrichor so much now, but I have never been so happy to see Sir Robot in my life. (And he's my favorite character).

1. If there’s a freaking translated app, what is the point in the rings?!?
2. Are Petrichor and this cowboy going to fall in love? Or will Prince Robot be her love interest?
3. “When it comes to life-or-death situations, I’m a big fan of the ‘live to fight another day’ strategy.”
4. Prince Robot is looking good in that western suit!
5. Biting the nose off the outlaw person. Yikes.
6. This Kurti ghost thing is making me sad.
7. That monster werewolf thing and it’s dangly tits. Omg. RUN.

Hazel and her family needs to go to the Badlands where Alana has to abort her baby or else she will die. Kurti is quite similar to Izabel being a ghost and playing with his big sister even though it's not gonna happen in the future :(. Of course, Ms. Petrichor is left alone and she needs to deal with the other western folks in which they explain that the badlands is no good for a pregnant woman like her. That means Alana is in danger so as her family.

Somewhat slower issue, but interesting nonetheless. Cliffhanger gets solid explanation, but I'm a bit worried as BKV is starting to introduce various new characters that do not have long term future, I just hope his inspiration doesn't blow out too soon. It still isn't problem with this issue, but it could become in the future. Solid story so far, enjoyable.

Damn, this was sad - the cliffhanger from the last issue was explained in a way that was both sweet and devastating. And what a terrifying final page! Fiona and Brian sure know how to leave an impression.
