All I Need

"It's just a job, how hard can it be?”

I was hired by his father to become his live-in caregiver. It sounded like an easy job. But the day I arrived at his broken-down Scottish castle I started to realize it might not be as easy as I thought.

I was not told that I'd be looking after a dark, brooding, rich man mired in a world of pain.
I was not told that this man would push all my buttons and test even my strongest limits.
I was not told that he was devastatingly gorgeous with a wickedly, sinful mouth.
I was definitely not told that what I'd end up feeling and what he would propose would drive me wild.

But I'm Annie and this is my new job. And damn it, I'm not going to let anything, even him, that gorgeous, sinful, delicious man, stand in my way.

You believe me? Don't you?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! All I need (stand-alone). A modern day fairy-tale of a crippled recluse cooped up in his castle until poor girl tears down his walls!

All I Need (stand-alone) opens up to caretaker and aspiring artist Annie Mitchell arriving at her new job to care for the crippled son of her new employer.

She is shocked to discover that her new charge, heir to a whiskey empire and hedge fund Ian Douglas is a man, a stunningly handsome man despite the damage his body and soul suffered in an accident.

After a rocky start Annie settles into her job and finds herself increasingly curious about the mercurial man tucked away in a run-down castle. Ian knows he shouldn’t corrupt the innocent Annie but he cannot help to make her an offer she cannot refuse

“You are going to cum for me. For every secret I tell you, you are going to give me an orgasm.”

Seven words to describe Ian Douglas: Recluse, broken, moody, self-destructive, manipulative, commanding and dirty-talker.

Seven words to describe Annie Mitchell: Sweet, innocent, determined, reliable, meek, forgiving and loyal.

All I Need, told from dual POVs with a fairytale feel, features a broken prince and a poor virgin providing a perfect blend of angst, romance, and off-the-charts seduction. Though it starts off as a depraved game, it ends up being a journey of self-reflection, healing, forgiveness and truths.

“May I show you what I mean?”
Such a gentlemanly question. Such dirty intent. I couldn't say no. I nodded my consent.”

Everyone who's anyone knows that Callie Harper is a fave of mine. A trusted go-to author if you will. She writes fun, steamy and romantic contemporary books that have me fanning myself and swooning in equal measure. All I Need was filled with a bit more angst than what I've come to expect from her and I believe she did an awesome job with it. Yes! She can do something serious and dramatic!!

If you've read any of the books of the series (or not), you may (or not) know about the four young boys who took a boat out for a joyride when a storm hit and tragedy struck. One boy had a burning mast fall on top of him that not only burned him but also broke his back, leaving him paralyzed. Each boy was left traumatized by the accident, but Ian still bore the physical reminders. This is his story.

Annie was hired to be Ian's caretaker. Having isolated himself for the last 15 years, he's brooding, dark, morose, depressed, drunk, belligerent, rude, and in a lot of pain. Understandable. Annie slowly but surely draws him out and these two unknowingly serve as the driving force and motivation for the other. Through their relationship they found companionship, strength, understanding, compassion, and ultimately love.

The chemistry was electric. The plot was different but handled delicately, honestly and with respect. I felt Ian's pain and I cheered him on with his hard-won triumphs. And as always, those steamy scenes get a HUGE thumbs up from me!

All I Need is a wonderful read and I love Callie Harpers writing.
This book can be read as a stand alone. You won’t be lost but you will want to grab the others after reading Ian’s story.

When Ian was younger he and his friends were in a boat accident and we get to see Ian’s side of the story now. We meet Annie who has been hired by Ian’s father to cook and keep the house up. Ian is none to pleased with this idea or Annie.

What I loved about Annie she doesn’t take Ian’s crap she is a strong woman. Caring with her family and helping them and taking on Ian.

Ian is an alpha male but that doesn’t stop Annie and can Ian see what is in front of him?

All I need is the fourth book in the adult romance All In series by Callie Harper. I didn't realize this book was part of a series while I was reading it, so suffice it to say it can be read as a standalone. I would be interested in seeing who the previous three books featured. I wasn't sure if there was character overlap in this world or if they are really standalones. All I need had a contemporary beauty and the beast vibe. I enjoyed this book throughout, but it didn't blow me away. The writing and romance were good, but I think the main male character rubbed me the wrong way so I didn't fall head over heels with him.

All I need is told in dual narrative between Annie and Ian. Annie is hired by Ian's father to be a live in caretaker for Ian, who was injured as a teenager in a boating accident. I liked Annie but Ian was way too much for me. Too much everything. Too much of a jerk, too much of a control freak, too brooding (if there is such a thing.) I didn't like him at all at the start of the book, and in fact I almost set this down in favor of something else lighter, but I kept with and I am glad that I did. Ian got better for me. The more he got to know Annie, the better he got. He was still a little too intense for my tastes and still kind of a jerk, but he grew on me. (to an extent.)

The romance developed at a nice pace and I felt invested in the characters throughout the whole story. I read this one almost in one shot, so I did like it. I just didn't love it. But if you are looking for a very dark very brooding main character with a very innocent ray of sunshine counter part, you will really did this contemporary take on a modern beauty and the beast. I have no idea if that is what Callie Harper was going for, but that is the major vibe I was getting. All I need was a good read. I'm not sure if I will read the other books in the series or not, but I am going to check them out.

Solid 4 star read!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

All I Need was my first book written by Callie Harper, so I had no clue what was coming for me. And it left me now craving to read the other three standalone books in her "All In" series.

Even though Ian & Annie's story occurs to me like a combination of "Me before you" and "Beauty And the Beast" with a touch of "FSOF" it has it's own charm and Ian has his very own demons hunting him.

The chemistry between Annie & Ian is great and obvious right from their first encounter. There is no instant love, but attraction. The love growth naturally and steadily through the plot. Both characters are charming in their own ways and it's easy to grow attached to them, wanting to get them their happy ending they both deserve.

What I really like about this story is the way the characters develop. Annie and Ian are good for each other, bringing out the best in the other or at least the wish to change things, growing. But both are somehow oblivious to this. After the inevitable big crash, which leaves broken hearts chattered on the floor, both are strong enough to go with the right decisions - for themselves and for the other.

All I Need is so well written, that my eyes kept glued to the pages, wanting more.
Thank you Callie for showing us, what real love is about: how to conquer obstacles, fighting our own inner demons becoming the person the other deserves.

Even though I rated it one star, I really would like to give it ZERO ** if it was possible.

I only got through part of chapter 2–agonizingly so! Ian is disabled in some way. He is spoiled and has an extremely depraved mind. He is simply despicable to me right off the bat. I don’t think anything can redeem Ian, given his vulgar, utterly perverted psyche. Additionally, while I understand Annie’s motivations for taking this job, sight unseen, and her naïveté, some alarm bells should have gone off immediately. She seemed like such a relatively intelligent young lady, but right away I’m thinking that Annie may be one of those heroines I can’t abide—TSTL.

Some readers may not be so put off, and the book may turn out to be a satisfactory read for them. But alas, the beginning was so repugnant, I simply cannot endure one more word.

I really enjoyed the writing style and the characters in this story. Ian is a brooding and angry man living alone in his Scottish castle. He was left severely injured in his youth and has become angry and bitter at the world. Annie has been recently hired by Ian’s father to be his new caretaker. Ian doesn’t want to like Annie but she brings a lightness to his is dark world. Annie is extremely curious and wants to know everything she can about Ian. It is not long before she is making him see things differently and making him want to make some changes.

Annie in her naivety thinks that her love can help Ian through. To some extent she does save him but not before he pushes her away. It turns out to be good for them. Ian realizes what a huge mistake he has made. This pushes him to make the changes in his life that he needs to. Annie also pursues her passions and learns to do what Annie wants not what her friends and family expect. The reunion was sweet but a bit rushed.

One of the only things I didn’t like was the dominant nature of the sexual relationship for these two. It didn’t seem to fit for some reason. All in all, I liked this story and I would definitely read another book by Ms. Harper.

Another fantastic story by Callie Harper!

All I Need was beautiful and heart wrenching. The journey I was taken on with Ian and Annie made me laugh, gasp and smile. Oh, and I also wanted to throw my Kindle. A couple of times. The sexy times were off the charts HOT! The banter between Ian and Annie was very entertaining.

All the feels for this book! What more could you ask for in a love story?

From the intriguing synopsis to the eye-catching cover, I was really impressed with just how well the author executed the story. Not only were the characters relatable, but the overall setting remained by of Beauty and the Beast. At the beginning of the story we get to meet Ian, a wealthy playboy whose partying life had to end abruptly after having an accident. That left him handicapped and unable to take care of himself fully, and that is when his father goes behind his back to hire a full time caretaker. When he meets Annie for the first time, Ian is a complete jerk to her and demands that she leaves immediately. But when his father gives him an ultimatum of whether to accept Annie’s help or lose his inheritance, Ian has no choice but to call Annie and ask for her help. It is with time that these two start to get along while living under the same roof. Though Ian may seem to have a hard exterior, Annie slowly brings out the good in him. After spending time together, he begins to develop feelings for Annie and that would ultimately decide his future with her.

On the other hand, Annie never expected to be taking care of a total recluse while living in a very old Scottish castle. She desperately needs the money to take care of her family and save to move to the city to pursue her dream career. She knows that taking care of Ian is not going to be easy, but she remains hopeful while staying busy at the castle. It is through her little projects in the castle that she manages to get Ian to notice her and be more social with her. When he starts to open up to her, it immediately becomes evident that the playboy that everyone knows might just have deeper feelings after all and she starts to fall for him fast. Now she has to decide if staying with him is worth it by sacrificing her dreams or not.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, it was filled with so much chemistry between the characters that will leave you wanting for more. The author manages to develop their feelings for each other naturally and not rush into things fast. Annie is good for Ian, she pushes him to do things that he wouldn’t otherwise have done by himself. It’s evident from the beginning that Ian is holding back part of his past that gets revealed throughout the story, and that has made him the way he is. He holds back a lot and when he is around Annie he feels that he can trust her with anything. There are a few twists and turns to the story as well. Though I liked the characters and the story as a whole, it did felt a bit rushed towards the very very end. There is a time gap in between that worked for the story, however I felt that some things were still unresolved. Needless to say, I still liked the book and I would highly recommend it. I will most definitely be reading more from the author in the future. ;)

This is the first book I have had the chance to read by Callie Harper. After reading the blurb I was hooked. It sounded like a relatively dark read to me and I needed something a little different to read from all the past books I had reviewed. All I Need is book four in the All In series. It can be read as a standalone. I absolutely fell in love with Ms. Harper's writing style. I love a book with a bit of angst and this one definitely delivers.

Annie wants more for herself than working part-time and taking care of her siblings. When the opportunity to work full-time as a live-in caregiver arises, she takes the job. Hoping that the good pay and change of scenery will do her good. What she didn't expect was to feel like she had just walked on to the set of a vampire movie. The large, dilapidated estate in the hills of Scotland was not what she expected and neither is the man who lives there.

Ian has spent the past fifteen years tucked away from the public. Badly injured and somewhat disfigured from an accident as a teen, he has grown into a dark, controlling, morose man. He manages to chase off nearly every caregiver that his father has hired, no one wants to put up with his drunken outrages and his pain-killer addiction. When Annie shows up to replace his last caregiver, she literally throws him for a loop. She doesn't and won't put up with his crap and the two slowly begin to become friends. Ian is so damn dark and brooding. He has the entire poor me syndrome working for him. He acts as if he is entitled to act and live the way he does. He may be the heir to his families Distillery business, but not until he can clean up his act.

Ian and Annie are explosive to say the least. I almost liken their story to a modern day Beauty and The Beast. You can feel the chemistry from the first time that they meet. I loved the fact that Annie is such a strong character. She doesn't take shit from anyone, especially Ian. She may be somewhat naive when it comes to love and sex, but she isn't afraid to learn. When Ian propositions her, the fun really begins and Annie learns a lot about her self in the process. Told in dual POV their story is told in two parts. Will Annie be able to deal with the brooding, dark and full of pain Ian or will she be the one to finally make him realize that life has more to offer him than bottle after bottle of booze and pills that just mask the real problem?

I seriously loved this book! I want to shout it from the rooftops! It is extremely well written and thought out. The characters are well developed and believable. There is plenty of steamy, sexy hot moments that will have your panties feeling the effects. Ian may live in a world of pain, but he sure as hell knows how to play a woman's body. Annie's character had me so excited. I love a strong heroine and she delivers! Go and grab your copy and devour Ian and Annie's story!

This was my first book by Callie Harper, and I enjoyed it. I liked the writing style and I thought the characters were well developed. I liked the pacing through the book, and there is a time jump (which is not a spoiler as it is listed in the chapter headings) that I thought was important, as I was not sure how Ian and Annie were going to move on from where they were when they met.

Ian was in tough shape. Alone, brooding, addicted to alcohol and pain pills, partially handicapped from an accident, and about to lose his entire inheritance. So, possibly not your normal, average, romantic hero. But, just like Annie...who is hired by his father as his caretaker without Ian's knowledge...Ian grows on you. You start to feel for him, and you start to understand why he feels trapped by things that happened to him as a child, and by the reaction of the people around him to those things.

Annie brings life to a crumbling castle....literally, they are in a crumbling castle in Scotland, and by doing so, brings life to Ian. She pushes him to want more, to remember that there is more, that he needs to work, to reach out, to see if he can move past where he is now.

I thought it was obvious, based on the number of times it was mentioned, the direction the story was going to take. It is not possible to discuss without spoilers, but suffice to say there are some major changes in the year time jump.

That said, I thought the pacing was off. I thought too much time was spend on the part that took place in the castle and not enough in the parts after. The relationship foundation, the attraction and the chemistry are developed well in the first part, but the real possibility of them having more isn't really there until the second part, and the story doesn't get there quickly enough, so the ending feels a little rushed.

I did enjoy this overall, but I wanted more of the second, after the time jump, part of the book.

Callie Harper ends her All In series with the mysterious and wonderfully kinky hero of Ian Douglas. Ian's the fourth friend in the group who as young boys stole a boat for an ill-fated joyride. Of the four friends Ian's the only one who was physically maimed during the horrific boating accident. Bound to a wheelchair he's hidden himself away in a decrepit Scottish manor. His father's tired of Ian being a bitter and drunken lay-about and gives Ian an ultimatum. He hires a caretaker, Annie, a young woman optimistic to a fault and to Ian's delight is still a virgin. She takes the job in order to earn a lot of money in a short period of time. She wants to get out from under her familial responsibilities. Eventually getting into graphic design once she earns enough money to move to Edinburgh.
Ian has the potential to be delightfully kinky due to his aversion to become emotionally attached to anyone. He has a history with women, add his wealth, and *middle-of-nowhere-living-situation* giving him the means to be a major kinkster. With Annie's mid-twenties virginity there is a lot of opportunity for Sexy Fun Times. However, Ian falls rather fast for Annie and he doesn't have experience with boy/girl romantic relationships. Therefore things don't go much further than serious foreplay for the first 3/4 of the book. The reasoning is perfectly understandable and justifiable however I felt teased for so long. "All I Need" is a sweet and romantic story that just lacks some *oomph*. The storyline is mellow and lacks the thrills and tension of the previous books. I had rather high hopes for "All I Need" and surprisingly Callie Hutton didn't pull it out this time.

This book by Callie Harper was wonderful.Ian an American born Scottish heir to a Scotch Distillery is a mess, a hot mess. Deep in depression, he doesn't see any other way. He moves to Scotland and lives in an old family castle. His dad concerned that he needs to get his life together hires Annie, and Scottish lass to be a jack of all trades and to help take care of Ian.
Annie having spent her 25 years taking care of younger siblings can handle anything, plus she really needs the money. She slowly brings Ian out of his depressed funk, only to have Ian shatter her heart. I love that there are time gaps in the book that allowed the characters to work on themselves, it wasn't an insta HEA. Don't get me wrong it does have an HEA, but it took over a year. The characters while you can tell this is part of a series, you don't feel like you are missing out if you read out of order, and I like that. The story was rich, I could picture myself in Scotland on the cliffs overlooking the ocean.
The characters are well developed, they are not perfect, they have flaws, some you can see, a lot you cannot, and it makes them more relatable. This story is told in alternating views.

This one is a 3 1/2⛤ read for me.

All I Need is Ian & Annie's story by Callie Harper & this is my first novel I've read from this author, however, this is the 4th book in this series.
Annie is hired by Ian's father to basically act as Ian's caregiver. Having grown up the oldest in a family with a single working mother, Annie is no stranger to this role so for her, it's a job sent from heaven. Until she starts to see the real Ian Douglas. Surly, depressed and just downright feeling sorry for himself after a childhood accident leaves him scarred, Ian doesn't want Annie around and certainly doesn't make her job easy.
Annie was a sweet character & I really liked her...I actually think she was the star of this book. Strong & loving, she was a darling.
Ian was not the most likable character at first but there was a little something about him that made you stick with him...I think his growth from ogre to gentleman lacked a bit of depth, but he certainly grew on me as I neared the end.
Although I liked this story I thought it missed the mark for me. I actually didn't feel the connection between the characters like I wanted. For me the story was a bit rushed & in trying to give this story a powerful message, everything that happened was all a bit clichéd in my opinion.
Overall, this book had potential, but although falling slightly short of my expectations, I would certainly read this author again.

All I Need was outstanding from beginning to end! I smiled. I teared up. I cringed at Ian's insensitivity. By the end, I fell in love with Annie, with Ian, and with all of their family and friends.

The plot was steady and full of angst. I was hooked within the first few pages. I read until the early morning hours because I couldn't put the book down!

Annie was so sweet and optimistic. Ian sometimes called her Mary Poppins, but to me she was more like Pollyanna. She was a ray of sunshine. Ian was her polar opposite: so sullen, angry, and withdrawn. Opposites definitely attracted in this book!

This is book four in the All In series, but it can easily be read as a standalone. That being said, you do not want to miss a single book of this fabulous series. Callie Harper has really outdone herself!

Beauty meets one stunningly hot Beast. That is the best description of this 4th book in the All In Series. Ian and Annie's story was definitely fairytale material. A brooding hunk of a man who has locked himself away in a castle, meets an innocent woman who shows up on his doorstep that he then wishes to defile in the most wonderfully naughty ways. Callie wrote angst and sexual tension like a pro and kept me squirming in my seat throughout the story. I applaud the break in the book giving the characters time to cope with their feelings for each other as well as working through their own negative feelings about the problems they've faced. I loved the progression of the characters and the end result as well. This was definitely a really hot and sexy 5-star read for me.

This story was really well thought out and I liked the characters but a lot of their situations seemed incredibly unlikely. I understand it's fiction and that we need to suspend belief for a little bit, but this one was just ... too much suspended belief.

It didn't help that I felt as though I've read this story before. I know that there are really no original stories out there any more, but I ended up feeling quite bored with it.

I'm giving this one three stars for the second half of the book. It was well done, well written, and the characters became likable.

Not sure why this story got its score under 4.0!!! The story was amazing, full of heartache, demands and plenty of love. Ian and Annie’s story didn’t start as a normal couples relationship, but the love they form for each other is yet more intense than the norm. It’s beautiful even if some parts of their love was dark at a point in their story, but working throw it made their commitment to each other a lot stronger.

Good story line pulled me in and I like the damaged H and sweet and down to earth h. She was a no frills, hard worker who was kind and unassuming. Unfortunately as the book continued, the h turned into a cliche, too clever, too pretty, to successful and the H had a year of treatment and he was cured! I lost interest and struggled to finish.

I have been waiting for Ian's story in this series for ages!! Throughout all of the other books from the 'All In' series, Ian had intrigued me and I have been eagerly anticipating it's arrival. So as soon as 'All I Need' hit my kindle, I couldn't wait to dive in!

Let me start by saying this story can totally be read as a standalone. So if you've not read any of the other books in the series, that's okay. If anything, I am sure by reading this you will want to go straight back and discover the other couples.

On the other hand if you have read the previous books then you will know some of the background behind Ian. We know he's living in Scotland, and has been hidden away for the last 15 years or so ever since a boating accident himself and his friends had when they were teenagers. We know the impact that the accident has had on the other guys, but we finally get to see things from Ian's perspective. He was also the only individual to be seriously hurt and suffer life-changing injuries from the accident.

In this book we also meet Annie. She has been hired by Ian's father as a caretaker for Ian and the sprawling Scottish clifftop home he lives in. She's there in order to cook, clean and take charge of the general upkeep of the property. Unfortunately though, Ian is less than welcoming to Annie. He's shut himself away for many years, drinking too much and taking more prescription painkillers than he should be. Quite frankly he isn't very nice at all at the start of the book - he's an angry, self-absorbed, cranky, arrogant man!!

When Annie is thrust into his life it threatens everything he's ever had, whilst at the same time knocking him out of his routine and everything he become to know as 'normal'. He doesn't want her prying eyes to get in the way of the certain tastes and 'sexual' needs he has and enjoys, and he certainly doesn't need her innocent mind becoming tainted by his darkness and suffering.

I love Annie's character. She was a brilliant determined, hard-working strong girl, and absolutely perfect for Ian. She works so hard for her family, helping out her Mum and her younger siblings. She is also extremely sassy, and didn't take any s**t from Ian. And as much as he is horrible to her to start with, even through all of this, she has this strong need to help heal this tortured, broken man! She can see through his pain and torture, but can she convince him to open up to her?

This book was brilliantly written and I really enjoyed how it was structured, almost in 2 parts... The words flowed brilliantly and I couldn't put it down. A roller-coaster of a ride, with different emotions throughout. Highly recommend!

All I Need: Ian & Annie by Callie Harper combines a beauty and the beast story with scotch, two of my favorite things (coffee also makes it's existence known, so really three things). Ian Douglas lost a lot at a young age due to an accident and now nearing 30 he has holed up in the family's run down Scottish castle. Annie Mitchell had given up a lot in her 25 years, being a second parent to her younger sisters and brother with Down's syndrome. While she has not begrudged taking care of her family, being hired by Ian's father to be his caretaker for 6 months, with exorbitant pay, gives her a way to make the money she needs to support her family and get her own life started in Edinburgh.

In classic beauty and the beast fashion, Ian is a grouch and he starts off on the wrong foot with Annie. Through various threats Ian's father convinces him to invite Annie back. I liked how it takes time for their relationship to progress, it is a serious case of fits and starts with one step forward two steps back being the norm. Annie's curiosity, forthrightness and innocence break through Ian's guard and draws him in more than other women, family or friends have been able to. It was also somewhat refreshing that the story veered from the classic beauty and beast story and Ian really does have to hit rock bottom to be redeemed, this was not a case of Annie coming back to him but of him fighting for both himself and for her.

All I Need provides a blend of great characters, passion, and eroticism that is very well balanced by the love between Ian and Annie. I liked that it wasn't easy, but also that the characters were willing to understand each other and give that chance for redemption.

In the end, All I Need by Callie Harper, was a fun passionate, dynamic story with characters you really care about. I very much recommend.

Prior to All I Need I hadn't read a Callie Harper book. I can tell you that I most definitely will be reading more of her books.

All I Need is a modern, erotic retelling of Beauty & the Beast. This was a slow burn, give and take read.

Ian was in a major accident as a teenager and has become reclusive. His father wanting the best for his son continues to seek out a caregiver for him even though he has failed in doing so thus far.

Annie has been the backbone of her family for years. Helping out her Mom with her 3 younger siblings. She never chases her dreams & feels stuck. Annie is hired to be a caregiver for a disabled man but nothing prepares her for Ian.

Oh boy these two clash but they both feel something. Something that neither can deny. The heat between them is explosive but Ian will at times do anything to douse the flames between them.

Annie feels like she can help Ian be so much more than the shell of himself that he has become but he has to trust her & let her in.

This was such a great book that I know I'll be checking out the other books in this series.

Oh my! Ian and Annie were everything! I loved how Annie was towards Ian. No matter how he acted she didn’t give up and tried to help him! I’m so happy that they took that time apart because it made everything all the better! So happy they got the ending they deserved. ❤️❤️❤️
