THE VIEW THAT DISAPPEARED

Rate this book
An inventive serial killer doesn't appear on the retirement center's list of amenities, but neither do Jack and Betty Luckner. One by one, Jack and Betty's neighbors are going face-down in their morning oatmeal. Admittedly, the perky prune surprise can be pretty wretched, but the hearty lumberjack oatmeal ought to be about as benign as last year's keratosis. If you've ever wondered what you'd do if your buddies started to die off for no apparent reason, then you owe it to yourself to tag along with Jack and Betty Luckner. They're two larky-sparky retirees who love to ask edgy questions and do impolite things. Armed with only their wits and their sense of justice, they face insurmountable odds.Nevertheless, they race toward the solution, hoping to reach it before the killer can put a stop to their efforts. After all, retirement shouldn't be lethal. Drawing on the traditions of Dashiell Hammett and Lawrence Block,The View that Disappeared serves up a feast of the absurd, of macabre murders, gallows humor, and courage.

View disappeared, my interest as well!

I'm over 70 but this storyline was so nuts that reading 50percent was tuff! Quite clear this book was nothing but nonsense. Hopefully, others were not just plain bored....SORRY!!!!!

I enjoyed this unusual mystery. As a senior, I read a lot of truth in the concept and certainly enjoyed the age references. I'll look for another Jamie McNabb.
