A mother who violated her deepest needs - to keep her deepest promises. The daughter she has never been able to love. The four who wait for what comes in the dark.
And a few more things I didn’t know were going to end up in here until I wrote the book. :) The final book in the Fixers of KarmaCorp. If you haven't read this far, don't start here. Go find Destiny's Song and start at the beginning.
The perfect ending to an excellent series. Audrey, like Raven, pulls together the single threads of the four whose stories have already been told and weaves them together with the two who form the center of this saga into a web that is something so much more than the sum of its parts. As she did once in her Witches series, Audrey reminds us with her story of the importance of family, of tribe. Alone, we may be individually strong but are still so weak when it comes to facing the world. Together, bound with the family of our blood and our choosing, we can do and be so much more. I loved that this book returned to that theme and expressed it so well. Definitely a soul-satisfying read.
Very powerful and emotional addition to the KarmaCorp story. I didn't quite get all the ins and outs of neither the problem surrounding Tatiana nor exactly how the solution was supposed to work, but that's very often the case when it comes to time-travel, so it didn't really bother me :)
Audrey Faye nicely tied up all ends in this 6th KarmaCorp novel, and while I'll still read the epilogues just because I want to read more about the four and the people surrounding them, the short stories. aren't really necessary to wrap up any story lines.
As well as deeply satisfying. . . It's as much about suffering as The Grower's Curse, as much about community as the Dancer's book and as much about connection as the Raven's book, and while I just didn't feel very moved by Kish and her book, as much about being willing to let go and change as that one was. So a four strand braid in many ways, and just as beautiful.
The power of a good story never grows old. The freedom of science fiction opens doors that are closed to other genres of fiction. Together this story weaves pain, love and hope together to create a touching and powerful story. A nicely tied together and completes series. The first story about Kish drew me in, my only disappointment was the minor role she played after the first book.
I keep thinking, as I started each of the books in this series, that I could in no way like THIS book as much as I did the last. the narrative starts out in a direction that I don't think I can find as compelling ... then about 1/3 of the way in, I realize that I was totally wrong. These stories have all be amazing. This, the final book in the series, brought closure to an arc that I hadn't even realized was building. All amazing.
Tatiana's Story Tatiana at 21 is now a official Fixer, talent dancer. She found family in the Lightbody clan, Bean and big sisters and mentors in Kish, Tee, Izzy and most of all Raven. She has felt the loss of the mother how treats her with distance. Tatiana is make a trip to Bro 3 in celebration of her new status. She has a chance to learn from Tameka and spend time with people her own age who are not Fixers. Coming to Bro 3 triggers the start of everything Yesenia sacrificed to protect her daughter from. The darkness has come. A brother lost to time and a niece who could destroy everything. It will take everyone and a few unexpected people to protect the past and save the future. Loved Tatiana's story. Great ending to the series. Some great twists and turns. Rated PG 13, series needs to be read in order.
You can't go wrong with Audrey Faye/ Debra Geary. Karma co-worker her assassin series and the witch central as Geary are enchanting wonderful feel good stories! You won't be dissappointed
Wow, I read this cover to cover. Tatiana and Yesenia are so beautiful in this and I love the cementing of the importance of Bean. A fabulous way to weave all of the four previous books together. Now to race through epilogues...
This was an expected but often touching end to this series. Lots of familiar themes -- family (biological and the one you make), community, and learning about oneself. I'm not quite sure what the actual resolution to the problem was, but I enjoy these books for comfort and brain candy.
Tatiana's story Daughter's Need brings both a beautiful resolution to her mother Yesnia's painful sacrifice and a world threat. I look forward to reading Audrey Gate's Star Endings to see how all the characters far in the future.
Blasted through this entire series in a weekend! Couldn't put the books down. I may need to get these books to keep in my library, I enjoyed them that much!
Almost science fiction - reminded me a little of Anne McCaffrey.
Yes, sad. This incredible series is done (except for the very final book of epilogue stories). Yet, I cheer for the marvelous characters and storyline. Audrey Faye is awesome.
A brilliant and satisfying end to a wonderful series of books. This book provides an unexpected answer to questions about where talents come from and the role of the nodes.
Great read. Brings all the fixer stories together to an exciting climax. Does nit stand alone as wouldn't be understood unless you have read the other karmacorps books.
The Fixers of Karma Corp are back on the job in perhaps their finest adventures yet. All bound up in science and command, taking thier marching orders from mysterious, reclusive, men who sit in their towers alone and see how and where the galaxy needs to be tinkered with. In this gripping final tale we see the fall of what was broken, the end of an almost one sided, arrogant, manifest destiny shaping the galaxy and leaving so many out to drift on their own. Here, now, all that ends with a birth, a rebirth, a healing of what arrogance had broken, and a reconnection to the most precious roots of us all.
You simply cannot miss this book if you've been following the series so far. So much comes together, all the threads snap into place so that that web of what really is, comes into sharp, clear, and stunningly beautiful focus.
This book can easily be read as a stand alone novel, but is honestly far richer if you read what has come before. You will not be disappointed with this wonderful book either way, and it's powerful truths of healing, change, and growth. Because as a wise man in Berkely California once said "...what doesn't change gets weaker."
There is no weakening here, the mother sees to that.
