A mysterious chain letter is only the beginning to an inescapable nightmare.
Homicide Detective Michael Dobson has seen many things in his long years on the force, but nothing can prepare him for a series of murders linked through the same mysterious chain letter mailed to the victims before their untimely demise. The answers lie in the victims’ pasts, leading Dobson and his rookie partner on a serpentine quest through the dark recesses of vengeance and betrayal. Can he stop the killer in time, or will a brutal fate await all who have made the killer’s list?
If this author going to end every book with cliffhanger, he is not going to have many followers. Good plot, violent murders of classmates and innocent people. Might read the next one, hope the killer will be caught.
This is pretty good! The cops are professional yet you can see into their normal everyday lives. The victims are just squirrelly enough for you to picture them as maybe someone who lives down the street from you! And what little hints we have been given about the killer are enough to keep you waiting and wanting MORE!
Every moment from beginning to end!! Hayden is a master storyteller and intrigue is his weapon of choice that he wields with authority and control throughout every novel. This series is no exception. I can't wait for the next book to continue the story!! I'm sitting on the edge of my seat and you will be also!!
Once again, this author keeps you on the edge of your seat as you're trying to figure out what I'm the world is going on. And then as you're reaching the end of this book, you find you're hanging off the edge of a cliff by your fingernails. Now I have to search out the next part and see if everyone is still ok. Now to begin Secret Letter: Book 2. And hang on for the ride.
Or is this book #2? Well, the first one was called "The Beginning". Interesting read. Enjoying this series. Well written. Lots of twists and turns. Looking forward to the next book.
I had to pace myself while reading this book. I just got it yesterday and before I knew it I was 90% through the book. I didn't want to put it down. Lots of intense action going on in this book. I recommend it to everyone that likes a good crime mystery.
Scarlet Letter is a great series. I can not put the book down. Just as you think you figured out who the killer is, something else happens to prove you wrong. Twist and turns keeps you wondering. Off to begin reading book # 2
I am really starting to dislike these installment stories. You get yourself all invested in a story only for it to stop abruptly while you wait for another book to have it continue. As, I move on to a new book. I prefer my books to have the entire story under one cover.
The story begins with what seems like a near ready alpha detective ready to retire. Until he is thrust with a rookie recruit and a whole lot of gruesome killings. The story moves quickly and just as your hoping for a great ending....whap...cliff hanger.....Nice....onto the next book, most definitely a great read...
This is a trilogy, but I think the author would have done better if he had just written the whole thing as one awesome book instead of three short, fast stories. I enjoyed this book, but some parts seemed way too rushed where it could have been drawn out just a bit more, and other parts were too drawn out with useless details.
