Along Came a Ghost is a short quick novella in the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series by Danielle Garrett.
It’s a great introduction to Scarlet and Garrett’s spin-off series, Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery. We are treated to an annoying ghost hanging around the manor and Holly and Adam search for someone who can help them with their ghost issue. We also get a nice surprise with Posy and her Earl.
Along Came a Ghost was a nice sweet treat. Looking forward to trying the new series and continuing this one.
Along Came a Ghost is a short novella in the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series by Danielle Garrett.
Holly and Adam are having a relaxing weekend when a ghost appears out of nowhere in Holly's greenhouse causing trouble, they then approach Scarlet, a sort of liasion between the living and the dead to help them deal with the said ghost. However the ghost reveals that Earl, their landlord Posy's husband's spirit is actually stuck in a cave which has them embarking on a journey to free the trapped soul.
This was such a fun little book especially because the author had made the readers so familiar with Earl so getting to read his story was absolutely incredible. I loved his and Posy's reunion, they undoubtedly deserved to be together and now the manor would have two resident ghosts, a loving couple at that, so obviously it is going to be loads of fun.
I am so very excited to pick up the next one in the series!
With this little short we got to see a bit more of the ghosts in this world. I found it interesting that a random ghost showed up that had a connection to Posey. You know Holly would not let that go and it turns out that was a good thing. Posey finally got closure on what happened to her Earl.
This is a cute little story. Holly meets a new ghost in her greenhouse who wants to talk to Polly. In tracking down Polly we meet Scarlet with her ghost cat Flapjack. She seems to be. Good addition to the group
Okay, this was a very cute novella/short story that takes place immediately after the 4th book in the Beechwood harbor Magic Mystery series ends. Finally, we learn more about ghost Posy's backstory, and also meet Scarlet, a florist and ghost counselor who apparently has a series of her own.
kindle unlimited 3 set {1-3 so not 4 or 5 or prequel}, couldn't remember that reviewed the individual books so going through and doing any that needed it, read them before not sure why no review and reading the others if haven't.

This was a super quick and easy novella to read. It was so much fun seeing Scarlett again! Personally, I’m glad I read Scarlett’s story first. It made this book that more charming to see her, Flapjack, and Hayward once again.
I miss Scarlett and co so much. I will most likely reread that series again someday. Especially once I’ve read all of Holly’s backstory, it’ll have more meaning seeing her pop up from time-to-time with Scarlett.
Super short and sweet, I loved this! Not much else to say. I actually started the next book in Holly’s story, when something was just thrown into the first few chapters and I was really confused with what was going on without any context. Turns out, I needed to read this novella first! Now, it all makes sense lol.
Time to continue with Lucky Witch now that I have the backstory with what came up. ☺️
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Danielle Garrett's "Along Came a Ghost: A Beechwood Harbor Novella" (Beechwood Habor Magic Mysteries Book 5) bridges her debut Beechwood Harbor series with her new one. Holly meets the ghost of someone from Posy's past that has news that will affect everyone living at the manor. With the aid of Scarlett, a local ghost whisper, she will give Posy the closure she deserves. Overall, I'm glad that Garrett has written this novella as sort of a hand off from one series to another. It is fast passed and a quick fun read. If you enjoyed the previous novels in this series, you'll enjoy reading this one too.
Not my usual genre of book but I found this series because I was looking for books narrated Amanda Ronconi and I thought 'what the heck, I'll give it a try'. Well, I am so grateful I did. The stories are fun, the characters are interesting, and more importantly, the stories evolved and the writer matured the characters as the series moved forward. I often get frustrated when characters remain the same from book to book and as a result lose interest in the story line. FORTUNATELY, that isn't how Danielle Garrett managed this series. The character's maturing throughout the series made the stories more interesting and kept me engaged throughout.
Beechwood Harbour is a great place to visit. The adventures of the supernaturals, including a witch, shapeshifter, ghost landlady and more at the Beechwood Manor continue to be intriguing as mishap after mishap needs to be dealt with while keeping their powers a secret. Posy, ghostly landlady of the Manor, pines for her long gone husband, Earl. What happens when there is a sighting of Earl will have you sighing. You'll find yourself wanting to know more about the town & quirky inhabitants.
What a delightful para cozey mystery .The characters are vibrant and colorful that will draw you in at once while the mystery entices you further with its intrigue and whimsical approach to the goings on in a house built over a hundred years ago and the small ocean town it dwells in. The plot thickens as a new arrival appears keeping you turning page after page until you reach its unexpected and climatic conclusion Acquire " Along Came a Ghost " today so you yourself can enjoy it as much as I have. Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery #4.5 Along Came a Ghost by Danielle Garrett introduces a new character that gets her own spinoff series, Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery. Enjoy!
Really? Are we not going to address the fact that Lenny was unapologetically watching Lacy shower and absolutely no one batted an eye? And that Lacy was the one everyone chose to ignore and dismiss, as well as judge harshly for her threats against him? Did they stop and think that maybe if they had shown even a smidge of support for her against his deeply inappropriate actions she wouldn't have felt it necessary to be quite so threatening? There were zero consequences for his behavior and no one stood up for Lacy. Extremely problematic. Negative stars.
I am currently reading the excellent Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries series, and found that this novels for in after book four; so, I went ahead and bought it.
I'm glad I did, as having just met Scarlet in book 4, it was nice to learn more about her.
The novels ended in a cliff hanger, so I'll be reading more about Scarlet once I've completed the boxed set.
I find Danielle Garrett an interesting and competent writer, whose books keep me entertained throughout.
When a relaxing weekend is brought to an abrupt halt due to a ghost terrorizing Holly and her friends at the manor, only the help of the new ghost whisperer in town can unravel the secrets of the past.
This is a cute short story of how Holly and Scarlet meet. It was great to see Scarlet, Hayward and Flapjack again (yeah I know, I read Scarlet's series first) It's a light easy little read introducing a new character to Beechwood Harbor before the next book. And of course my feline with no filter Flapjack is in tip snarky form. Loved it.😁
When a new ghost shows up at Beechwood Harbor, Holly and Adam immediately imagine the worst. Rather than speak to the fellow, they chased him off and went to Scarlet for help. Scarlet is an expert on ghosts, and quickly lends her expertise and begins dealing with the man-ghost.
A turn of events and things go much better than expected. Holly and Adam are back in good graces again, and life goes back to "normal."
This is the novella 4.5 and I really loved this book! The story follows Holly as she is startled by a new ghost she has never seen before. Lenny, the ghost, is such a pest but after he is shooed away Holly remembers that he said the name Earl in present tense. Could it mean Earl is alive or shall I say an alive ghost. I don't want to go into this story more because it is short but I highly recommend it as well as the series.
I'm really enjoying all Beechwood Harbor books. Good stories and characters. I really like your new hero Scarlet. Will finish B.H. Magic Mysteries before I start on the ghost series. Nice easy reads with very few typos. Danielle, ever heard of Oakridge, Oregon? I know your books are written in Seattle area, but I would love some Oregon stories or maybe Scarlet visiting if there's more books to come out. Thank you for more reading material!!!
Holly cant catch a break!! She encounters a ghost shes never seen before in her greenhouse and hes more annoying than anything else. With Adams help they go to Posy's ghost therapist after this new ghost makes an interesting threat. The shenanigans never end with these two, i swear. Love the new addition of the ghost therapist/florist. She seems very sweet. Cant wait for more!
A little lost as I had not read the previous books, but the story was interesting. When a ghost appears at the manor and decides not to leave, Holly and Adam seek the help of Scarlett, a woman with no magical abilities who is able to see and interact with ghosts, including their own Posy who attends "therapy" sessions at Scarlett's flower shop. What they learn is that Earl, Posy's husband, may have known the mystery ghost and that ghost may have information about Earl.
After reading the Beechwood Mysteries, these novellas expanding on the other lives characters are fun. We've come to know them so well throughout the series. In this short story we get to find out how Posy & Earl get reunited & get to know Scarlett a little more. I also found out that Scarlett has her own series. This is a storyline I will have to check out. I love the author's sense of humour & predicaments the characters finds themselves in.
When I started listening to Lucky Witch, I felt like I had missed something. I knew that there were other Beechwood Harbor books, but I didn't realize that they intertwined the way they did. I had some spare time in my witchy October reads, so I caught up on all the novellas that came up to this point. Of all the books I have listened to so far, I think this one is my favorite. It was so sweet. By the time it was over, I had a sappy grin on my face.
We finally learn about Posey (the ghost) and her Earl. This is a short Novella with Adam and Holly trying figure out way the ghost is hanging around and being difficult. We get a sneak peek at Scarlet and Flapjack (who is a character himself) for the books of Beechwood Harbor Ghost series. Scarlet helps Holly and Adam solve the mystery. I love all the stories in this series. and the ghost series. Love the author and narrator.
A great addition to the Beechwood Harbor MAGIC series, and a great introduction to Scarlet and Flapjack, who will star in the Beechwood Harbor GHOST series. I loved how Posey was able to get a happily ever after, and this novella just had so many feel-good moments. It's not necessary to read this novella before reading book 5 Lucky Witch, but it is helpful to know the context of why Posey has a different attitude around the manor.
Just love the Beechwood Harbor series. This book gives us more insight in why Posy is so sad all the time. A ghost shows up and shakes things up and the adventure begins. Was unable to put this book down. Unexpected twists and turns. I voluntarily reviewed this book and enjoyed every page of it. Looking forward to more Beechwood Harbor books.
