Really just ok...

This was a very short, okay read. This short story, a little less than 90 pages is about a foster boy who is in love with the daughter of the woman who took him in. As adults now, they try to fight the feelings and attraction and continue dating other people. Royce is running the streets while school teacher Mika works to keep her students from those same streets. Lots of errors that should have been corrected during editing, lots of profanity, but plot is interesting enough. However, I see this is part of a 10 part series. Really? A series should never been that long, especially when each book is less than 100 pages. Wasn't interesting enough to commit to the series, let alone book 2.

"Love on the Low" is a nice and quick read; however, it lacks character development, is rushed, and lacks a plot. Also, there were way too many grammatical errors, which made it hard to read at times. The dialogue is authentic in some places and brings readers into the environment of Atlanta. I think if the author spent more time on understanding the characters motives and give us a reason to like them, the story would be better.

Cringe-worthy Instead of Binge-worthy Novel

Just to give her writing a chance, I suffered through Mia Black's Book 1 of her "Love on the Low" series, whose contrived use of so-called street talk--especially her overuse of the hated word "nigga"--rendered her work almost unreadable. I cannot recommend this book to others, and certainly will not go forward to Book 2, even though its predecessor ended on a cliffhanger. I am just not interested enough in the characters or the story's premise, if any, to waste my time any further.

This was a good, quick read. It was about Mika and Royce. They both had feelings for each other but refuse to make the first move. Royce is very possessive although he is dating someone else. Mika is a teacher and doesn't want to be in a relationship with someone that deals in drugs like Royce does.

I enjoyed this book, my only gripe is the book is too short. I wish it had been longer, especially with the ending.

Royce and Mika have been playing this cat-and-mouse game for a long time. When Mika comes back from school, she has to confront her feelings for him. Royce kept denying his feelings and knew he had to do better with his life choices because he knew Mika deserved better. I respect him for respecting her wishes, but he definitely can’t be mad that she moves on with someone else, especially since he has a friend with benefits now. I’m interested to see what happens in the next book.

Good read

Good read the storyline was good and consistent. I liked the flow of the characters as I’ve read a few books by this author and they too were good.. I left the 5th star off due to there being a few grammatical errors and having to reread a few sentences to make them make sense. But overall it’s a good book and yes I will be reading part 2 the story did not disappoint.

The first few chapters were cliche, the same as most black American chick flix start out.... It took a while for it pick up... Now I can say so far so good. I'm noticing from the few books I've read by this author, the beginning start out slow 🐌.

Over dramatic

This story was going good. Such a positive thing going on. But now the main person has to have a gun pointed at her from a jealous bitch. Part 2 of this story going to b as.

Very quick read and it left me rushing for Book 2. I can’t wait to see what happens between Mika and Royce. Just hate that it’s going to be dragged out through a ton of short stories but I’m all in for the ride.

just my opinion

I like that royace was very over protective of Mika but I disklike that he didn’t know how to express his feelings so he would turn to other females. Mika as well but creasha got that ass beat tho cause she thought Mika was gonna do anything .

Great Afternoon Read

This story has the drama!!

Mika and Royce keeps dancing around their feelings for each other. Which is understandable given the situation.

However, Royce has someone who's not willing to be cast aside!

Great afternoon read!!

This is NOT it, I’m not sure what made people recommend this book but it was VERY cringe. The other low ratings took the words right out of my mouth so just read those ! Also, there were so many errors and that had me stuck at points.

Edit this!

This gets three stars because of the cliffhanger. First, Morehouse is an all male school. I think you were looking for Spelman for your characters. Second, have someone proofread this, as the are whole sentences missing, and words spelled incorrectly.
