I have had the most entertaining time reading all three trilogies books by Weston Kincade. I simply can’t get enough of them. I wonder if there is going to be another trilogy.
Sacrifice Life Of Death is the third and final book in a set of trilogy, and delightful page turner, that’s buzzing with another cast of brilliant of characters and another crime waiting to be solved.
I’ve become a custom to Alex Drummond with his ghostly visions and finding the missing pieces to a murder in his own way.
I loved the idea for the setting of A Life Death trilogy, on Tranquil Heights based on a mountain town. If you get the chance to visit Tranquil Heights you may recognise a few features, although the author Weston Kincade did take some liberties.
It can honestly be said that when a father has a gift, like being an artist doing painting, or decorating, or being Doctor, you would hope that your son would follow you and have the same abilities as you.
Well , Alex strength of his gift lies totally with seeing ghostly visions, but his son Jamie had even more paranormal ability than him. The ability for Jamie to see things, confirms it was passed down from his father Alex.
Evidently, brave Jamie can handle something going on at school without help from his dad.
What I liked here in Sacrifice is that author always finds a different way to swiftly keep each book within the storyline moving in a direction that you can’t possibly know what’s going to happen next.
Alex was on his way taking his son, Jamie to school, but the Tranquil Heights Police Department called Alex that something has been found on the train tracks. Although Jamie will be late for school, once his dad reaches the crime scene, Jamie wants to help. Alex is known for his ability to touch or hold something belonging to the decreased and find out more about how that person died. This part gave me the shivers. Hector at the scene put a human eye socket in Alex’s hand, then the visions began. After six years with Alex working with Hector, he had grown accustomed to how Alex worked.
The future of Alex’s hometown is at stake but sacrifices must be made.
I don’t want to spoil anyone’s who is interested in reading the final trilogy fun, but I can assure you that this is only the beginning of what Alex is about to accomplish after handling the human eye socket, there’s so much more that Alex, must be ready for and all you readers. Your all in for the final polished treat.
What’s to look forward to psychometric powers combined in this thrilling battle for survival in Sacrifice the final book.
If you like the sound of Alex in his police department with being able to touch or hold something and can tell how a person died, maybe you could step it up and buy Sacrifice.
Although the trilogy Sacrifice has sadly come to the final one, and with now Weston Kincade being one my top authors . I want to read Strange Circumstances, by Weston Kincade with tempt fate, destroy destiny, demand retribution. the future’s a gamble, care to bet on your Side? This sounds just like my kind of next read. And If you like dark diversions from reality stories like I do, you maybe reading this too from Amazon.

The final book in Weston Kincade’s Life of Death trilogy is a cool blend of police procedural, paranormal mystery, and family drama. Perhaps the smoothest read of the three, it gives readers a privileged glimpse into the past of its protagonist’s powers, while also offering tantalizing promise for the future. Relationships are nicely drawn, and the series is well-suited to teens and young-adults, especially those reluctant male readers!
When Alex touches things related to death, he experiences the death they relate to. It’s a scary power, convincingly portrayed as he slips into alternate lives, struggling to cling to the truth of his own. Meanwhile his son is developing powers even greater than his own. But what can one teenager and a cop who happens to be his dad do when drugs and gangs overwhelm a smalltown school and the bodies pile up?
Family dialog is convincing and humorous – great father-and-son conversations! The world of cops, moonshiners, Virginian mountains and rivers is evocatively portrayed. And curiously fascinating, sometimes gruesome details spice the tale.
Fastmoving as the river, thought-provoking, exciting and dark, Sacrifices makes a great climax to the series. It could easily be read and enjoyed alone, and it’s highly recommended.

Tranquil Heights is a small town with big problems surfacing every day. The newest threats facing Alex in his detective job are drugs, gangs, and moonshine. Jamie is faced with gang issues at school while Alex faces them on the street along with many other issues.
I love these books. They are action packed mysteries that keep you reading and guessing until the end. This was the third installment in this series and was a great addition. It was filled with crime and drama. This one seemed a bit more action packed than the others before it and it was awesome.
This book had turf wars, dead bodies, and danger around every corner. I absolutely love these books. The characters, the storyline, everything is great.

Sacrifices are one of those books that stick with you after you read it. It sticks to the same theme that runs through the other books in the trilogy but it also brings up a few questions. What would you do to protect your child? How far would you go to protect him or her? Would you be able to make a snap judgment under extreme stress and live with the consequences?
Sacrifices starts shortly after the events of The Golden Bulls. Alex is watching his town going down drain. There is a turf war brewing between the moonshiners and a drug kingpin. As that is happening, cremated remains are showing up all over town. Alex’s son is soon in the middle of things when he takes on a gang that is taking over the high school. Soon, everything will come to a head and what will happen when the smoke clears. Who will survive and who will die. Will Alex be able to protect the people closest to him? Will his powers help him?
If I only liked Alex in the earlier books, I loved him in this one. He was a force to be reckoned with. I loved it when he went clued the principal about gangs. He was a force to be reckoned with. I do like that he was a little jealous of Jamie’s power. He wasn’t salty about it but he was jealous that Jamie could talk to his father and he couldn’t. I thought that his reconnecting with his father’s friend was a pivotal part of the book. His friend gave some information that shocked Alex (and myself). As a parent myself, I know I would have done the same thing Alex did. Hands down and no questions asked.
The action in this book was awesome. It was the action (along with the supernatural elements) that kept me glued to the book. I like it when a book revs up and stays revved up. More often than not, books like this will stall in the middle of the book. Not Sacrifices. The action was kept up until the ending.
There is also violence in the book. Not going to lie and say that it was mild violence. There were some pretty gruesome scenes of murder. The most gruesome scene is with Hector at the end of the book. But, it didn’t take away from the book. Instead, it was needed to show how ruthless the drug kingpin and the moonshiners were.
The end of the book was almost a let down after the intense chapters before it. I felt a bit let down when reading the final chapter. The only reason I felt let down was that I knew there was not going to be any books in this universe. I would not know what happened to Paige, Alex or Jamie. There was no closure for me. And the final scene of the chapter…omg. I broke down in tears.
I would give Sacrifices an Adult rating. While there is no sex, there is language and graphic violence. This is a book and a series that I would reread. I would also recommend to family and friends with a warning about the violence.
I would like to thank Weston Kincade for allowing me to read and review Sacrifices and the A Life of Death trilogy.

Remember all the stuff you had to deal with as a teenager? Homework, crushes, school cliques, family drama, acne, hormones and psychometric abilities? Wait, you didn't have visions of murder victim's final moments when you touched things? Alex Drummond does and his first vision happens out of no where while walking to school. All he was doing was running his hands along an old fence in front of the house of the town's founding family. I'll just say there are some skeletons in that family's closet and the present generations are as rotten as their ancestors.
I like that the author, Weston Kincade, doesn't waste valuable time trying to explain how or why Alex has visions, he just gets on with the story. With each vision, Alex learns to deal with his new found ability and we learn about more murders and the victims who want their killers brought to justice. Can Alex help them?
We also see how Alex is treated by his alcoholic and abusive step father, his mother, step brother and two younger step sisters. Our heart breaks during Alex's conversation with his father's gravestone, the abuse in his home, but we root for Alex and Paige's budding romance. I read A Life of Death in one night because I couldn't put it down. As soon as I finished, I emailed Weston Kincade and asked him to send me Book 2 and 3 so I could review the entire trilogy.
I'm so grateful Weston sent me all 3 of his books for free to read and review. I hope he writes more about Alex, Paige, and their son Jamie. Golden Bulls, book two, showcases Alex as a Homicide Detective slyly using his visions to catch a serial killer. This one involves a high school friend in Washington, D.C., wife Paige and their son Jamie Drummond. There's some ancient history connections in this sequel which I love. Can Alex and company solve this 15 year old case before the date of the next ritual killing?
Lastly is Sacrifices. Alex's small town of Tranquil Heights is being over run with drugs and gangs, centered at his son's high school. Local mountain moonshiners, including the father of Alex's abusive step father, and a drug lord are battling it out and cremated remains keep turning up, making it not so easy for Alex to use his visions. Alex's son, Jamie, is having no problems using his new found abilities to help solve the murders, but they also put him directly in danger. Book 3 is equally as good as books 1 and 2.
These all get a BEE Shopping and Reading recommendation from me. They are fast paced, attention holding, crime stories with a supernatural twist that is just the right addition, with characters you come to care about.

I started reading the first two A Life of Death books after receiving copies of the books in exchange for honest reviews. However, my wife saw them on our shared Kindle account and after reading them bought A Life of Death: Sacrifices to complete the series. I still am going to write an honest review in exchange for nothing!
Story feels like a lot more of A Life of Death: The Golden Bulls—Alex Drummond is a detective who can relive a person's last moments before their death if he touches something present at the time of their death. In this third book, his power seems stronger (previously, he didn't always have a vision just from touching a dead body or part of one), but it's his son, Jamie, who has an even stronger power. It seems Jamie can see and converse with ghosts. He is still scarred from the final scene of the previous book, but he wants to come help his dad solve some murders.
Alex's small hometown of Tranquil Heights is quickly becoming very poorly named. Some high school students are forming a gang, known as the Reds. A local drug kingpin seems to be killing anyone his paranoid mind views as a threat. Some backwoods moonshiners are also wrapped up in the turf war. Honestly, I don't think I could really summarize the plot. I think, perhaps, Weston Kincade was setting up a mystery but I'm not sure he ever unraveled it completely.
There's more action and some interesting deaths to read about. Kincade also bumps up the greusomeness (weird to think I thought this would be a Young Adult series after the first book).
One of my biggest complaints with the first two books was the poorly written dialogue. And while it's not perfect in this novel, it does get a little better. However, something I don't remember being a problem in his previous books slapped me in the face like an offended woman's well-manicured hand. It was the overuse of obscure/strange similes & metaphors. Two instances:
I'm glad I'm finished with the series. The first novel was an interesting start, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of how the series "grew up."
The ebook I purchased included three short stories about death that had some ups and downs. "Undetermined Fate" imagines Limbo as a location you gamble with the favors you earned in life to get a chance to come back to life. The gambling game was clever but the ending seemed a little too easily tied up (not sure why the short story needed a happy ending). "Roots" is a simple little parable that features a bunch of classic riddles. Wish Kincade would have created some new ones or dug deeper to find some more unique ones I haven't heard a bunch of times before. "Falling" is the strangest, as it seems to tell the story about a super spy on one last mission who may have been caught and interviewed by a new potential employer or caught and tortured by someone who saw through his disguise. There's also a weird ending where it may have all been a fever dream on a gurney as he flickered in and out of this world. Hard to tell..

The pose sent a chuckle coursing through my body like a hamster in a tube maze suffering from PTSD. (180)These comparisons were just two of many that frequently made me question what I just read and completely took me out of the novel. I suppose every common turn of phrase sounded weird the first time it was ever used, and maybe Kincade is simply trying to invent some of his own, but I think he went a little overboard.

Sacrifices is expertly written by Weston Kincade but sadly the last book in the Trilogy of "A Life of Death". I was hooked on this series from the very first page when I learnt about Alex Drummond. The beauty of this book, you don't have to have read the others to know what is going on, but you will be hooked so you may as well start with the others first.
Sacrifices has an intricate plot that is extremely well developed. The author weaves a web around the reader that entangles you and holds you firm in its grip. This book is impossible to put down so I didn't even bother to try. The book follows a perfect pace and never feels rushed nor ever dragged out. The twists are well executed and even though I am usually good in figuring out mysteries, this one I was just following along with what the author gave me, just really well done.
Alex is just such a likable character. I true standup guy I wish the world had more of. His son Jamie is growing up way to fast, but thankfully he has his dad to help him. Paige fits this duo perfectly, and balances them where they need it.
I have to say this book didn't end on how i expected it to and left me quite shocked, no I won't spoil it so read for yourself. I am sad this trilogy is over but hope the author will come out with more work soon. He is definitely on my watch list and when he has something new out I will pick it up. I can only recommend books from this author, who is clearly a master of his craft!

I am sad this trilogy is over but hope the author will come out with more work soon. He is definitely on my watch list and when he has something new out I will pick it up. I can only recommend books from this author, who is clearly a master of his craft!

Alex Drummond is well known in Tranquil Heights. He does his job well and comes home to a wonderful family. His abilities have helped him and stayed off of more people’s radar. But now burnt corpses are being found and it is looking like a drug czar has come to Tranquil Heights and it looks like they are going to have some connection to Alex’s past. His family has now become a target, which is hard enough to work with. But his son Jamie has the same ability as him and might even surpass Alex with ability and hard headedness. Will Alex be able to keep his family safe and stop the drug cartel?
I loved this book. Alex has found some peace and quiet in his life and has a wonderful family. But things are changing fast when burnt bodies are being discovered. If that is not enough to keep him on his toes having a son with psychometric abilities is going to add a new level to this investigation. I loved Jamie, the apple clearly doesn’t fall far from the tree but I’m glad Alex is there to help Jamie with his abilities, especially since he didn’t have that support when he was a kid.
This is an amazing series. It has a lot of action with a touch of paranormal that just adds to the mix. This is the last book in a series and I am sad to see A Life of Death is over. I strongly recommend this series to anyone looking for a great thriller.

Another nail-biting thriller!!
The last installment of this trilogy is just as exciting as the others. I started reading the first book of this trilogy, and could not stop until I had read them all...one right after the other, nonstop! Such likable and, in equal measure, despicable characters! As much as I really liked all three, the way this one ended was less than satisfying. I won't say more so that I don't inadvertently give something away. However unsatisfactory the ending of this third book may have been for me, this entire trilogy is well worth your time!
