Grimdark Magazine presents the darker, grittier side of fantasy and science fiction. Each quarterly issue features established and new authors to take you through their hard-bitten worlds alongside articles, reviews and interviews. Our stories are grim, our worlds are dark and our morally grey protagonists and anti-heroes light the way with bloody stories of war, betrayal and action.FICTIONThe Lady Of Crows by Anthony Ryan (Raven's Shadow novella)NON-FICTIONThe Future of Grimdark by Matthew CropleyAn interview with Deborah A. This is Derla's story, who we know briefly from Blood Song, when King Janus met with her and Vaelin.
We get to know how she became Janus' tool and spy, and also who helped Frentis flee to the Sixth Order to escape One Eye's retribution.
But the story is about her meeting young drukard Mustor, and I must say, I love both characters for their wit. It's a great tale and it would a pity to skip it.
Another triumph from the boys and gals at GdM. Only one piece of fiction in this article, but its a great one from Anthony Ryan. Great interviews and articles as usual. I'm becoming obsessed with all things Jesse Bullington (aka Alex Marshall) lately, and his article on worldbuilding was my favorite from this issue.
