This series is so different than any I've ever read and that's one of the things I love about it. The books don't take place in a linear fashion. This book isn't merely the follow up to the one before, but it takes place during the previous book. It follows Sasha and Quinn through their months apart, converging at points with the storylines of our other favorite characters.
Quinn has got to be the strongest character in this entire series. He endures months of torture in order to protect his family, protect Sasha. He thinks his power is evil, but it keeps him going when most would give up. Sasha doesn't know where he is and it kills her. Especially when instead of going to rescue him, she's forced to leave for a special kind of training with her sister and a mysterious man with secrets of his own.
Sasha and Quinn seem like they're at the beginning of a great love story, but this book tears down everything you thought you knew about them and opens them up for us to see what they're truly made of. Melissa Craven's biggest asset is her ability to develop characters and these are two of the best.

I was initially confused because this book move from Allie to Sasha and I wasn’t prepared, but ultimately it’s just as good, and equally as important to the overall story and world building. After getting into it I decided I thought it was a wonderful way to expand on the story without overwhelming the reader with a bunch of books about the same characters, which is kinda genius in my opinion.
Anyways, Ms. Craven has not let me down yet, and this book is just as dynamic and complex as the others.
5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.
4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.
3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.
2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.
1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

Once again Melissa Craven shows her talent by seamlessly picking up from book.2. Judgement. What I expected I didn't get, I presumed this book, would continue Allie & Aidens story, as the previous books in this series have had these two as the most prominent characters, and in a way it did, it just gives you the perspective of what was happening to some of the other characters while this continued. I really enjoyed reading and understanding more about these characters, and can now see how integral they are to the development of this series. I would definitely recommend reading this book. The insight it gives you as to why certain characters become apparent was such a good idea. The main plot of this book though was colossal. At parts it spoke in the first person, which I prefer, but then it would switch to the third, but this also worked very well, as it worked parallel to what we know happened in "Judgement". It has now given me a different view point to how I previously perceived these Characters. It certainly is a book that keeps you on your toes, and one that loses hours of sleep and daylight hours as I needed to know what came next. The plots had so many surprises, my heart would surge one minute, then break the next, I loved reading and experiencing the depth of why Sasha and Quinn are who, they now are, and what was happening to them in the background while I was wrapped up in Allie and Aidens story. One thing I know for sure, this series is going to continue with explosive plots, there are more tangled webs going on then I ever perceived. I can't wait for the next book to come out. And to the author, all I can say is "You Smashed It"

I think this is the best book in the series so far. There isn't a whole lot of humor, but that's understandable due to the serious nature of the two stories being told. The character development is extremely well done, as is the world-building. I felt the author really took the time that was needed to develop the story. Sasha and Quinn step out of the supportive roles they played in the other books in the series and turn out to be very interesting all on their own.
Truth be told, I was afraid this story might be a bit dull since those who have read the first and second books in the series go into the story knowing things that Quinn and Sasha don't. I was wrong. The story held my interest more and more as it progressed. There was one character whose actions were frequently cruel. I sensed there would be a push to humanize that character and build compassion for them. I didn't see how that would work, but it did. I may not have come to like the character, but I did come to feel some empathy for them as less dislike by the end. I appreciate a story that can shift my point of view like that.
There's quite a bit of violence in the story and some foul language. No sex or drug use. If it were a film, it would probably be a solid PG-13. Those who have read the second book in the After Trilogy will probably find some similarities with what one of the characters goes through. I do not see that as a negative.
I was really impressed with this book. Five stars seems about right.

So this book takes place at the same time as Judgement (book 2), but from the POV of Sasha and Quinn. We finally see where Sasha was during her summer internship with the Senate. By having the story go “back in time” we gain a much better understanding of what has been going on in the Immortal world. To see what Sasha is forced to go through just because the Senate decided, with no regard of what she actually wants. Then we have Quinn who had been tortured for what he believes is 4 years as a captive of Soma, a “school” for young immortals that serves as a front for selling the children as slaves. He is absolutely not the same boy that was taken at the end of Emerge.
This is another amazing book and there are a few side characters that I hope we see come back. This story is so unique and has so much depth to it. By seeing the events from others POV you are able to get to know some of the others in the group better besides just Allie and Aidan. I am excited to see where the story goes next.

This is book three in this series, and I have to say I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, but I did, especially the ending. In book two, “Emerge: The Judgment”, Quinn is captured by Soma, and Sasha is changed when she returns from special training, but we don’t know what really happened during those times. This story tells us what each of them had to endure physically and emotionally while losing their sense of time. Quinn and Sasha’s experiences are very different, but each of them finds the strength they need. They each grow close to people who help and support them through their trials. There is a lot of violence, but the story held my interest to the end. I had to know how everything worked out for the best for Quinn, Sasha, and others. Some of the characters are not exactly what they seem. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series. I received this ebook as an Advanced Reader Copy. I submitted this review voluntarily.

In book 2 we got a lot of references to Quinn's time in captivity and Sasha's time training with the Senate. I love that we take a step back to see their stories of that time and I also like their perspectives of when they catch up with the others.
It is totally heartbreaking to read what Quinn suffered at the hands of Livia and the struggle Sasha had whilst training, add to that the amount of time away for them both mentally, we are talking years. Such trauma has made them change and grow from what they were and what they knew.
We meet new characters, some likeable and others far from likeable. Melissa certainly knows how to bring characters to life on paper, writing in such a way that those words turns to pictures in the readers mind as we watch the scenes play out.
Brilliantly written, awesome characters and scenes but not quite a five as I was mentally prepared to move forward from book 2.

Wow just wow
Melissa A. Craven has written an excellent book the whole series is so different from anything else out there. This particular book takes place roughly the same time as the second book which focuses on Alli and Aiden. The captive follows the story of Sasha and Quinn which is hinted at in the second d book. It also let's us get to know Livia better while not wanting to give to much away miss craven has done the impossible and made her vulnerable while keeping her "evil". There also new characters that are intriguing and hope are futher developed in future books Lennox and James in particular. To finish I can't wait for the next book the writing the world building the back stories the character build always leave you wanting more

Great read
This is an amazing story full of action and suspense. I love that we get to read about Quinn's captivity and why Sasha changed. It has some great twist some really shocking revelations. Quinn is held captive at Soma, which is run by Livia, whom is responsible for bringing in young talented immortals to be trained, broken and sold. As we read of Livia's treatment of Quinn, Santi, and Lennox we learn more about her character and how she is just as much a slave as all of them. Now that the Queen is free and with her granddaughters I can't wait to read the next installment.

This series is killing me....
Ok, so..despite deliberately trying to make the last one of the books out last longer than a day or two.... I still finished it way too fast! You will, too! In this latest book you get to see even more of what is really going on with all of the characters of the series. It’s a little painful to go back in time again as you really, really want to know what’s going to happen in the future but you will find yourself languishing deliciously in the new details anyway because the book is just that good. No, I won’t tell you anymore. Go read it! Go on!

Fantastic!
At first i was wondering why the need to backtrack and tell Quinn & Sasha's stories, but it explains a lot of what happened too them that ended up being internal top the storyline. Plus you got to see more of Livia and what made her tick and a bit of her formidable father, Marcus.
At some point i need to read the novels which contain important pieces of the story. I dislike when author's do that, I'd rather a book be longer than keep spending more money on novellas

Good
I loved getting an answer to all the questions about Quinn, but I feel like this was more of a side story than actual help with the overall plot. This authors writing is thoroughly captivating. The amount of life she puts into each character is amazing. Probably my favorite part of these books. From a solid heartless woman to the cute gay brother, these characters will leave you feeling like you've gained some new friends.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is another episode of a completely new take on ancient forces trying to survive modern America. Quinn is captured and has to find a way to not give in to the call of her powers demand to take everything, and the kind soul Santi helps him learn to survive. I'd recommend this book to fans of urban fantasy novels.

I love this series..
I love this series so much, I am so hooked on this story every time a new book comes out I am reading it that same day I get it.. All the characters seem so real and they are totally awesome.. I am hoping that some how Allie and Aidan would end up being together, I’m just gonna have to keep praying.. Well I’m off to read Emerge the Heir.. bye bye...

This series just gets better with each book. We learn more about Quinn and Sasha in this episode. An exciting and tense fantasy but so full on. Melissa makes it so easy to become immersed in the story .
Brilliant writing that makes you want to keep turning the page. Unfortunately life gets in the way .

I was at first a little disappointed that this book wasn't about the main characters from books 1 and 2, but quickly learned to love Quinn and Sasha. It's definitely different going through the story from their POVs but the plot is just as good and exciting! Overall great book and I really look forward to what comes next!

This book answered a lot of questions about Sasha and Quinn. Both of them go through so much in their time apart. It broke my heart reading about what happened to them both. I'm excited to read what is in the furture for them both though.

This was such an amazing read. Although the fantasy journey continues this was an enjoyable and exciting episode that tied up quite a few loose ends. It makes the ongoing epic saga more solid in terms of stability of the storyline.

Wow...
This story is based largely on Quinn and Sasha and how their lives evolve. I found it fastenatingto see where their paths lead them. It was also interesting seeing how others lives changed and a sign on what it to come. This is a must read

In this book Sasha and Quinn take center stage as they face so much. Full of action, danger, unknown and so much they must overcome. Compelling and hard to put down. Had to see if they would meet up again. So easy to get caught up in their stories. And see how it fits into the overall series.

This one is interesting, surprising and action packed. I wasn't prepared for what Melissa tells us in this book. One of the best, but with each book I read I like the series more.

Wasn't sure hope I would like a book that did not have much Allie in it but this was a great book. It showed how the people were connected. Gave new possibilities to future books.

The best of the book the serie so far. Quinn and Sasha are such great characters. And I need more of Jayesh. He needs a proper redemption story arc.

“Captive“ the full-length book in Melissa A. Craven��s “Immortal of Indriell” Series, a non-linear series, that interweaves multiple stories into a central narrative core, offering with each new book a more sharpened view of the whole verse.
This installment focuses on Quinton Luokas an Immortal with a dangerous secret, which is about to be unearthed. Quinton has an addiction to power, now as a captive of Soma, his iron-clad control is slipping away, his destiny is not longer in his hands, his only hope is to escape before Livia discovers his secret and uses against him. Meanwhile Sasha feels responsible for Quinton capture and will made every thinkable effort to free Quinton, which eventually let her at the will of the Senate and realizing that she too, has not real control over her own destiny.
“The Immortals of Indriell” is set in a whole new UF world populated by immortal beings that differ from any other characters already seen in modern urban fantasy, beautifully well-crafted, with its own hidden history and geographical system, genealogy, particularities and special powers. The story is very well-written, and offers an interesting plot and fully fleshed characters, whose actions are dictated by both the actual circumstances and their own millennia old traditions and experiences.
