One's strength lies in their uniqueness. While similarities aren't considered weaknesses, it's the sole possessions of one human than attracts them to another... that one thing that someone their opposite can find inside of their core, but not within themselves. It's what attaches them, intrigues them as a flame does a moth. It's the bridge that gaps them together in a manner that other's may be ignorant to, while the details are in plain sight for the two basking in the afterglow. Ripleigh, a young single mother, has been beat down by the biggest villain of all. Life has gutted her of her most valuable vessel, the heart. After suffering through the death of her counterpart, and daughter's father, she's left with merely a shell to call home for the rest of the organs that are keeping her amongst the living. Ripleigh packed her things and moved down south for a more modest living and to place the pain of loss as many miles behind her as she could. While life seemed to be plentiful closer to the boarder, Ripleigh's funds were diminishing. Quick on her feet, she reduced her pride and laced up her highest heels to tread the stage of ILLUSION, the most sought out dwelling for upscale nightlife. Semaaj, prominent medical provider and face of Northcross Pediatric Care, stumbles into a dimly lit atmosphere full of hookah smoke, chest rocking base, and clad women with insane skills and enough strength to help him lay the final bricks to his newly purchased children's clinic. Though he feels as if he's worlds away from his comfort zone, he feels a familiar tugging of his heartstrings after setting his eyes on the talented Blyss. Semaaj, later, finds himself frequenting the underworld at an alarming rate, and the staff soon knows him by name. His request is simple, Blyss. Two strangers, two completely different worlds, two bizarre parties discover that there is likeness even in their oppositions. While Ripleigh decides to run, Semaaj exchanges his stethoscope and lab coat for joggers and tennis shoes. He accepts the challenge of digging up Ripleigh's, as known as Blyss, heart -the vessel that had been buried along with her previous lover. Bruised, cut, leaking, and dysfunctional as it may come packaged, he cares nothing for it's appearance. The purity of it's inside is what he's most desirable of.

not my favorite

I normally love this authors writing style. This book was not my cup of tea. I loved the idea of Semaj and Ripleigh. But I feel like there was way to much inner dialogue. I never really understood the rhyme or reason for Ripleigh’s action. What happened in the 4 years in Memphis that finally made her decide to pack up leave. It was just too many unanswered questions.

Wonderful story! Loved the title! Great characters. Storyline held me hostage as I read this in one sitting. While Samaaj & Ripleigh's 1st few encounters were under different circumstances, his feelings for her were evident. Well written, unforgettable story

Undeveloped

While the start of the book draws the reader in, the rest of the book has no depth. There is no development or connection with the characters so I found myself skimming pages along to see if there was a way off the merry go round. The main female character was knee deep in self-pity and the male character was the champion hero who had to constantly prove love. The only reason for the child was to make a way for the two to have a conversation but otherwise she was unneeded. Nothing new or interesting to see in this book and poor editing did not help. If there was more effort put into the cultivation of the each character and advancement of their connection, it could have been better. Great details and attention to the intimacy though. Still not a book I would recommend.

Wowed for sure!!!!

Ms. Mercy, this book was amazing. I've been doing a lot of reading the past four years. I've enjoyed a lot of books from many authors, though you are one of my favorites. Reading this book I could feel every emotion, and hear the voices of each and every character. This was too real for me, and it was a breath of fresh air at the same time. Semaaj and Ripliegh showed me that in the end true love could definitely conquer all. This book to me was like spiritual poetry between the two characters. Their love was far beyond body image, and good looks. Although it did play a part, their connection was on a level many wish to get to. Although, I wish to know the story behind Semaaj, his mom and his stepfather. You touched on it briefly, I'm just curious about whether there is story to be told or not. Bye for now, but thanks again for a hit!!!

Look, Ni y did you end the book like that bruh!!!! Semaaj!!!! I love the way they balance each other out! I was ready to just slap sense into Rip man, how could she not see that all he wanted to do was LOVE her! I mean I understand why she was so guarded but still it was time to step out there, and I must say he never doubted them being together the entire time she pushed him away.. He knew she was his WIFE and he just wouldn't give up, knew he had a lot of fixing to do to her heart! Thank goodness she came around!! I LOVE them. It's was nice knowing Q and Bianca still doing good I was glad to see them mentioned..Great job Merc!! I know it's a part two coming so when can we b on the look out!

This was the type of love that old schools used to sing about!!!!!!

Mercy B I have fallen in love with your craft! You made us fall in love with Semaaj. He is the type of man that women dream about encountering and wishing for love as strong as his for Ripleigh. I was captured by this book from paragraph 1. I felt the pain emitting from the words written on those pages. Thank you Mercy B for writing a story about love, loss, pain and complete happiness that wasn't told through fantasy.

Wowwwwwww

I love their story. I love you writing romance also. Ripleigh reminds me so much of you minus the stripping. By you writing this story lets me know that your happily ever after is still out there. It lets me know that your Semaaj is out there if you haven't already found him. There are so many girls out their like Ripleigh who lose the love of their life or so they think but only to find out that God has someone else out there for them. I love how Semaaj didn't give up on her. I loved how he loved her enough for the both of them. Amazing story.

Good Read

This was a very interesting, good read. The opening is such a shocker, but necessary to understand the heroine 's reluctance to give something she felt she didn't have. The persistent hero steps in and hammers away at stone while reweaving the broken pieces back together. Insight into Ripleigh's previous relationship would have been helpful, but the story was understandable without it.

Now to the author, p!ease invest in a competent proofreader. There were several misused words which make the reader have to stop and think about what the intent was.

Omg

When I said I was totally engrossed in this book I couldn't put it down. I was at work watching the clock waiting for clock out time. This book was so mind stimulating and sensual without being raunchy. It was pure genius if I do say so my self. The characters were everything I was shouting and cheering like it was real life. I enjoy romance and love stories which its one other author who satisfies my taste in books. I don't mine hood every now and again but I need fantasy mixed with reality. Great job. This is definitely a must read folks

Yassssss honey that love that Ripleigh and Semaaj share was so incredible. It just goes to shows that you can find love where you least expect it. I love the fact that it also taught Ripleigh that you should never count yourself out no matter what you been through in your past because at the end of the day there is still hope that love will find you when you're not necessarily looking for it. Mercy B wonderful job

Too Much

I wanted to like this. It was highly rated but it's not my style of book. The language of the story was so confusing. It felt like the author was trying too hard to add depth. Some of the words were switched (barrier instead of bearer, appalling instead of appealing) and it completely threw me off. Also found male lead to be domineering and slightly controlling under the pretense of true love. Halfway through I had to skim to get to the end.

I'm so glad I read this!

Omg, first I have to say that Semaaj's addiction has me intrigued!! Man him and Ripleigh had me on the edge of my seat. From their first meeting, I knew they had an undeniable chemistry. How he took to her, how his parents reacted was awesome. I wasn't expecting that from his parents. It was a refreshing surprise from the norm. This most definitely will be added to my collection. I loved it Mercy B

Love story

I love how semaaj made her see the good in her self and her daughter was a good push In his direction also. Who would have thought that a doctor and a stripper would come together I guess opposites attract. I knew she would fall for him when he kept showing up for special request at the club for her. Ripleigh was a piece of work that needed healing and he was it for her. Great ending as well!

Speechless!

I'm sitting at work at my desk crying like a baby. What a beautifully written story. My heart hurt for Ripleigh as she was mourning. Semajj knew he wanted her from the beginning and fought for their love even when she couldn't. Omg, love is precious and to be cherished. Your journey into romance writing is a homerun! I can wait to see what's up next.

I been reading Mercy B books since the beginning and I know her growth and passion with him herself printed in words. The warmth and passion was feeling. To see Ra had lost her one true love and to later find another was so wonderful. Ra putting up a fight but Semaaj not letting up I love it.

Loved it

This book was amazing. The genuinely loved Ripleigh & Semaj from beginning to end. It was a true love story & I couldn't get enough of it. It didn't have the catty women in it & I enjoyed it. It was just about the two main characters and that was a joy. I didn't have to figure out who was who and where they fit in the storyline. Another excellent read mercy

meh.

Ngl. This book was boring but I trudged through the typos and lack of zest in hopes that some sort of plot twist might present itself. Character building was ok but as a whole the book failed to keep my interest. I’m used to a bit more flare and thrill from Mercy. This was quite vanilla.

Mercy B has did it again.

Once again Mercy B has done it again! Her writing style is in a class of its own. I love the fact her story was not like the typical urban literature. It was a true love story.

Semaaj found the love of his life. Ripleigh had her doubts but Semaaj helped her get past them. He loved her and Caleigh and never left their side. I'm glad she finally realized that they were right for one another. Great job Mercy I enjoyed it.
