This is a cute romance. I have to wonder about the publisher writing the description, because it’s been one year since Emi has spoken to her ex-fiance, not two, and the dress is blue, not grey. Anyway, she can’t help but see Jack again at her twin brother’s wedding—Evan is marrying Jack’s sister. Things only get worse when Jack shows up with his date, who just happens to be Emi’s archnemesis. Fortunately, Emi has her best friend Lily at her side.
There were the typical things to set this up—Emi refusing to hear Jack’s side of the story and instead hightailing it to Dallas to start her own business. I think if I spent four years with a guy and thought I was going to spend my life with him, I might listen at some point.
SPOILER: Also, at the end, the author dodges how they are going to deal with the fact that they’ve each made lives for themselves across the country from one another.

This begins in the present as Emi prepares to head to her brother Evan’s wedding where she’ll come face to face with her ex fiancé. Two years have passed since they’ve spilt and to say she’s nervous is putting it mildly. It then flips to the past and chronicles Emi and Jack’s relationship, but with a clever little twist. It starts with their most recent history, two years ago then goes back three years, then four all the way up until the day they met. I really enjoyed this structure, it was unique and really added something fresh to the story.
The characters in this book were just awesome, I loved Emi’s friendship with her best friend Lily, she’s the type of friend that every girl needs, she’s honest to a fault and won’t hesitate to tell you your outfit is ugly or your hair looks awful. Who wants a “friend” who will sugarcoat things? I sure don’t and their bond was really sweet but also snarky and hilarious. She plays a small part, but Emi’s aunt Maggie was also another of my favorite people, she’s a quirky psychic and I thought her cryptic fortune telling was so funny! Emi was totally relatable and Jack was charming and sexy, their love story had some pretty swoon worthy, romantic moments, but it also had plenty of realistic hardships that made it easy to identify with.
Little Gray Dress had every single ingredient that I crave when I reach for a chick lit novel, it honestly delivered on all levels for me and I’m super impressed that it’s a debut novel! It was sassy, witty, sexy, sweet and adorable and had a delightful cast of characters that I became totally invested in. I’m even crossing my fingers that this will be the start of a new series of books?! Emi’s story was wrapped up rather nicely but I would love to check in with some of the supporting characters in the future.

Riveting and charming.
With an epic bliss of wedding disaster, a Plastic mean girl as a catalyst of change and an almost rebound guy with boyfriend status, could Emi still find her own happily ever after with the only dress that witness it all?
Aimee Brown got the perfect recipe of a full-blown romance and comedy like she has done it all before. Considering this was her first book, she made sure that the story would not only appeal to readers but also something you have got to enjoy for yourself over time.
The alternating timeline gave an extraordinary impression of parallelism between Emi and Jack's past and present, giving a well-crafted structure to the narrative. You will get hooked and before you know it, the sun is beaming outside your window. The characters were also given equal attention to what would be their impact on the totality of the story.
Juicing with laughter and spiced with drama, Little Gray Dress is an impressive debut with a pure touch of limitless humor and a love like the storm, you know even how strong the wind was or how the rain clouds keep crying over your shoulder, you will always find a beautiful rainbow ending to the story — a ready master plan for a chick flick, romcom movie.
This is a highly recommended summer must read to anyone looking for an entertaining and feel-good romance.

Finally wrote a more thorough review! Absolutely loved this one!
After a terrible breakup with her ex-fiance, Emi is trying to move on with her life. She moved away, and tries not to think about her ex. When her brother gets engaged, she ends up becoming a bridesmaid in his wedding, and the bride is none other than her ex, Jack. Determined to prove that she's moved on, she asks the cute bartender that she meets if he'll be her wedding date. When old feelings come flooding back, Emi has to decide if she's really moved on, and if now is the time to start.
Filled with lots of laughs, mishaps, and friendship, Little Gray Dress was exactly the type of book I wanted to read! Coming in at just over 200 pages, I breezed right through it in just two sittings! I absolutely loved the ending of the book - I was nervous it wouldn't go the way I hoped it would, so I was thrilled when I finished! If you're looking for something fun, light, and cute, this is the book for you! I can't recommend this one enough, and I'm thoroughly impressed that this was Aimee Brown's first novel! I can't wait to read more from her in the future!

What a wonderful debut novel, although I'm sure I'd have enjoyed it as much even if it was the author's second or third book. Others have provided a synopsis of the book so I will refrain, but I will list some of the reasons I found this book so utterly readable: for one, the flashbacks worked. Sometimes, when books go back and forth between the past and the present, it's jarring or the past is just backstory and doesn't add to the plot, but in this case, it really helped with character development and assisted in showing us what Emi and Jack were like as a couple. Another thing I enjoyed was the lack of wasted dialogue or narrative. I never felt the desire to skim because the action was constant. The author is a master of conflict, both small and big, and I'm a big fan of that. The characters were likeable, except for when we were supposed to hate them (Greta!). I knew pretty much right away how I wanted the story to end and the author did not disappoint.

To start with, my rating is solely for the awesome heroine alone, otherwise it would be zero rating!
My review contains major spoilers so please stop now if you plan to read it. The “hero” is such a pathetic & spineless looser that I have no words! I so wanted the heroine to end up with sweet & kind Liam! WHY did the author have to go and ruin it for me??
In terms of safety: It "appears" that they were both celibate, though it is never really confirmed whether or not Jack slept with Greta because he doesn't remember - nor if he kissed her or anything else. As for Emi, when she meets Liam at the bar and asks him to be her +1 at the wedding so that she doesn’t feel like a total looser, he agrees and kisses her & likes it but that is it. Too bad. I would have LOVED for her to end up with him instead of the pathetic looser. Heavy sigh here….

This book was so bad. I don't even know what to say. Brown jumps around between present day and past timelines and all it did was make me hate the main character (Emi) even more. At one point something happens that had me wondering if the author had just watched a lot of Hallmark movies and said, yes, I will try to replicate that. And honestly, even Hallmark wouldn't make this movie. The motivations of all people was out of whack. We got an antagonist that made zero sense. You had Emi and her former fiancee Jack not acting like real life people at all. And you have a cast of characters too dumb to tell Emi and Jack to work their shit out like adults. Instead there are schemes on top of schemes that even The Party Trap wouldn't have tried to pull. Do not recommend.
So "The Lucky Dress" follows Emi as she struggles with going to her brother's wedding. It wouldn't be such a big deal except she is going to see her former fiancee Jack for the first time in a year. And Jack is in the wedding (he's her brother's best man) and she has never told everyone all of the things that happened that had Emi call off their wedding two days before they were to be married and to follow her best friend to Dallas to set up a coffee shop. Yeah that's a lot. So the whole book is Emi getting into mess after mess after seeing Jack and his family. And she's face to face with his new girlfriend who she also knows. And Brown jumps back and forth between their romantic history which doesn't paint Emi or Jack in a good light.
I think my biggest problem is Emi is an idiot. She sees two things and she doesn't discuss it with Jack. Instead she packs up and moves across the country. She leaves him with explaining to people what happened and she's then angry when she sees who he is now dating. Frankly, if you ignore someone for a year, you get what you get. I was just done in beyond the stupidity of all involved. 99 percent of this book would have been taken care of if everyone talked instead of trying to "hide things." Emi meets a new love interest who I called Red Herring who I didn't even care about, since it was pretty obvious how this one was going to go.
Jack doesn't act like a normal man at all. That's all I got.
Jack's mother....woo boy. There is some stuff that happens that made me go did everyone in this book never meet a human being that they actually talked to?
The main antagonist in this one went to the Disney school for movie villains. She didn't act like a real person and her motivation behind all of this was flimsy at best.
I thought the writing was painful. Emi was a brat. I wanted someone to call her out on her acting like an ass during her brother's wedding festivities along with the bride. The flow was awful due to the jumping back and forth between the present day and previous milestones in Jack and Emi's story.
That ending had me once again wondering do the secondary characters in this story have any type of life at all or what?

Emi and Jack are THE perfect couple, that is until Emi catches her fiancé with his assistant. Fast forward two years.. they meet again at their siblings wedding, how does she survive seeing her ex who was the love of her life?
High drama with heartbreak, mistrust and Georgina George revenge! It’s definitely not all roses for poor Emi.
A delightful debut by a very talented author, I’m crossing my fingers for a follow up novel!

”I’ve loved you for seven years and I’d like to add seventy more to that.”
Little Gray Dress is an easy-to-read chick lit novel with a few characters yet intricate plot. The story revolved around a beloved female main character, Emi, a twenty-something young lady who had a hard time getting her fantasized marriage, and how she finally sorted out a major misunderstanding between her ex-fiancé, Jack, and herself.
As a young girl, planning for a dream wedding seems both surreal yet not impossible. A girl will always imagine wearing the most gorgeous dress when having one of the most perfect weddings in the world and living a happy life ever after with that one and only Mr. Right. Life is too good to be true, isn’t it?
However, there’s no such thing as a free lunch; therefore, something will always, ALWAYS get in her way before realizing her dream. This, is every girl’s life, my friend, and Emi is no exception.
Hence, when Emi believed what she saw exactly one day before her dream wedding, she was devastated and completely destroyed. Not only was she heartbroken, her fiancé, Jack, was equally frustrated because he never got the chance to explain. Well, you might think Jack was such a jerk by the way I described their situation, right? *evil grinning* Don’t worry, he was far from that reputation. In fact, this is why I liked him as a character. One of my favorite chapters of the book was Chapter 16, The Getaway, this chapter brought us back to the beginning phase of Emi and Jack’s relationship, where you’d see how faithful and honest and humble Jack really was; he was definitely the kind of boyfriend a girl could only dream of.
A story wouldn’t be complete without villains so as opposed to Jack, Emi did have an arch-enemy, Greta (May), who seemed like a superficial girl to me. To my disappointment, I thought there was too much drama in this book for my liking. Whenever there was Greta, there was cat fight. Greta was obviously that type of girl with fake boobs, perfect skin, excellent figure but brainless. She was manipulative and would get her man by all means. What surprised me more was the fact that even being with Jack for years, Emi still didn’t fully trust him. She felt insecure too easily, particularly when she saw other beautiful women got close to Jack. As a result, further unnecessary incidents occurred and in my opinion, they ended up dragging the pace of the story a little bit.
Aside from the drama among characters (mainly Emi, Jack, Jack’s mom & Greta) I disliked in Little Gray Dress, I hated to admit that most of the time, I didn’t find the humor in this book humorous at all. Sometimes I wasn’t sure if I should laugh at certain joke or comeback under such circumstances so I simply skipped it. *color me poker-faced* For example, Fair enough, that little surprise did catch me off-guard but when I found out it was actually a rehearsed prank, it kind of ruined all my previous pleasure in reading this book.
My biggest concern about this book was the really-well-thought-out yet too-deliberately-designed story plot. That being said, if Little Gray Dress were a live performance, you’d probably think every movement was pretty staged and unnatural.
Gladly, there were some impressive elements in this book that satisfied my reading preference. For starters, I absolutely loved the arrangement of time in the story. It was told from Emi’s POV entirely and alternated between past and present times, which gave the readers clear insight into two different parts of her life. Apparently, Emi was trying to figure out what really happened in her love life *cough*with Jack*cough*; hence, it was a relief to see them resolve that HUGE misunderstanding eventually. *doing happy dance and twirling*
The most impressive part was the consistency throughout the story that I rarely see in other novels. With the clear timeline weaving Emi’s stories together, it was a great pleasure to see the protagonists earn what they deserved (in a positive way) in the end. Besides, Emi and Jack also learned more about themselves as well as each other so that they grew up a lot from previous experiences and became more mature. Above all, I believed their relationship would be stronger than ever after learning from all those mistakes.
Lastly, the author wrapped up the entire story wonderfully with that beautiful, little gray dress worn again by the same person and this time, she finally, officially realized her fantasy wedding by walking down the aisle with the forever and always Prince Charming. And they lived happily ever after.
All in all, Little Gray Dress was a rather delightful read to me; if it weren’t for the excessive amount of drama in the story, I’d have enjoyed reading it more. Surprisingly, the consistency and time arrangement in this book left an incredibly good impression on me so I loved the author’s writing style very much, which meant I’d definitely read her future works! *Psst, she’s working on two books at the moment (if I remember correctly)…how exciting!*
Anyway, I RECOMMEND Little Gray Dress to people who are looking for a quick, light summer read or take a liking to chick lit including perfect weddings, dramatic characters and a happy ending.

As a fellow blogger I was delighted to see Aimee has branched out into the world of authors, so I’m chuffed to have had a chance to read Little Gray Dress and participate in the blog tour.
After reading the blurb I could see this had potential and Aimee has done a brilliant job of bringing Emi and Jack’s story to life. Poor Emi was all set to marry Jack until he did the dirty on her .. now two years later Emi is going to meet up with him again at the wedding of her twin brother Evan as he marries Jack’s sister .. could life get any more complicated!
I quickly formed a soft spot for Emi, she is quite a character but has a lot to deal with. The story is told in alternate story lines so we get the present day and then the background of Jack and Emi and how things deteriorated. Plenty of twists and turns, with interference from family and ‘friends’. They are such a cute couple but things can go wrong so fast when there are misunderstandings. The love Emi has for Jack is so apparent though.
I loved the descriptions of Emi having her dress fitting, could definitely sympathise with the disproportionate boobs, legs, hips etc and having to be strung up like a turkey in her corset! Aimee has written it with great humour in a sympathetic way that entices giggles.
If anything this book proves that real love can find a way and just maybe we shouldn’t believe everything we see or hear. Aimee has created a warm, caring story with characters that creep into your heart. This is astounding for a debut and I look forward to what comes next.

I quickly formed a soft spot for Emi, she is quite a character but has a lot to deal with. The story is told in alternate story lines so we get the present day and then the background of Jack and Emi and how things deteriorated. Plenty of twists and turns, with interference from family and ‘friends’. They are such a cute couple but things can go wrong so fast when there are misunderstandings. The love Emi has for Jack is so apparent though.
I loved the descriptions of Emi having her dress fitting, could definitely sympathise with the disproportionate boobs, legs, hips etc and having to be strung up like a turkey in her corset! Aimee has written it with great humour in a sympathetic way that entices giggles.
If anything this book proves that real love can find a way and just maybe we shouldn’t believe everything we see or hear. Aimee has created a warm, caring story with characters that creep into your heart. This is astounding for a debut and I look forward to what comes next.

Loved every page. A very funny book, but at the same time my heart went out to Emi Harrison. She had big boobs, legs short, hips wide was having trouble getting her wedding dress to fit. And she is supposed to be getting married in just three days time to her boyfriend Jack who she has been dating for a two years. Little Grey Dress is so much fun to read. Emi has layers of cinched up underwear a skin-tight dress and strappy sparkling high heels. She is only going to be able to take small steps which will make things rather difficult for her. Seems like things are not going right for Emi. First her wedding dress don’t fit and now to make matters worse for poor Emi now it seems her husband to be is not going to make a faithful husband. Or will Emi forgive Jack and will Emi and Jack still get married? I do hope many readers will buy Little Gray Dress and find out more.

I'm going to say right off that I loved this book so much. For a debut author this book is just fantastic and I can't wait to read more by Aimee.
So- why did I love it so much. Well it is very funny and yet the characters have such depth that I ended up caring so much about them. So much so that I did actually shed a little tear at one point. Not something I usually do over this genre.
Aimee's writing is so easy to read, the words just flow off the page and it just feels like a bubbly friend telling you the latest tale.
The book leads us through the current day of Emi preparing to attend her brothers wedding. Slowly we begin to learn that there is going be a guest there that she would rather not see. It's Jack her ex-fiance and through flashbacks we learn why he became her ex.
I was a little horrified by the actions of Jack and was routing for the new guy Liam to be the love interest. But slowly facts from the past unfold and maybe everything is not the way it seems on the surface.
If you loved the film Bridesmaids then you will probably love this book too. Finally The Little Gray dress - well it makes appearances throughout the book!
I'm giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. Waiting for the next book Aimee.

I've actually read and reviewed this book before - except Aimee got a new publisher and rewrote the book and so it's not technically the same book at all. I never read books twice - I mean why would you when there are so many books to read. However, something about the previous version of the book "The Little Gray Dress" hooked me so much that I just had to see how Aimee changed it.
Now don't get me wrong - I loved it the first time, but this time around as The Lucky Dress it is even better. Emi and Jack have only been apart a year instead of two this time around and although the "lovely"! (not) piece of work that is Greta is still hanging onto Jack's arm as his new girlfriend, this time around I felt more confident that she could be thrown off - but I will leave you to read and find out if that gets to happen.
The star of the book has to be Jack's Mother Amelia - do Mother-in-laws like this actually exist? - I wish this one did, what a true lady. I found myself waiting with glee for her lines.
I found it interesting to see how Aimee switched around some of the story a little but if it is the first time reading for you - you are in for a real treat. Such a good story with a romantic but down to earth feel - so glad I read it twice!
Five out of five stars to Aimee not only for a fab read but also the tenacity to rewrite - I'm not sure I would have had the tenacity - I hated rewriting and editing essays only a few thousands words long.

What a pure joy to read, from beginning to end. I would have never guessed this was Aimee Brown’s debut novel, from the strong writing, laugh out loud and cringe worthy moments, and a beyond satisfying ending. I enjoyed the structure of the story, switching seamlessly from present to past, and the secondary cast of characters added comedic value and plenty of touching moments. I particularly enjoyed Jack’s mother! This would be a great addition to any TBR list for chick lit and romantic comedy fans.

Do you know what. Even thou the ending to this book is utterly predictable. I absolutely loved it. It had me hooked from the very beginning. I found it funny, light hearted, fun and romantic. This book really has it all and if you are looking for your beach read for the summer then simply look no further. I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future. Awesome.

I really liked Little Gray Dress . It was a really cute story about Emi and how she goes to her twin brother Evan's wedding. From there she runs into her ex-fiancé Jake. Long story short: Evan is marrying Jake's sister, Jake has a new fiancé, and Emi is all alone.

The Lucky Dress is a rompy romantic comedy reminiscent of Meg Ryan movies- light, witty, and full of hijinks. Emi had her heart broken a year ago when she caught her fiancé in a very compromising position. She's steered clear of Jack all of this time and has set up a new life for herself. Now, she must return home for her brothers wedding. It just so happens, her brother is marrying Jacks sister so the time has come for Emi to face the man that broke her heart. She returns for the wedding and what ensues are hilarious mishaps, hurtful truths, and realities she has avoided for the last year. Truthfully, I didn't like Jack as a character all that much and really wanted the character of Liam to be fleshed out more as he really stood out in this book. Overall, this was a light witty read that made for a fun escape. For me, The Lucky Dress was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars (rounded up from 3.5). I love Little Gray Dress' cover and I would have read it only for that but I've known Aimee Brown a couple years now and I was so curious to read a story written by a fellow blogger.
Aimee Brown writing is that of an experienced author and her story doesn't look like her first .
I've enjoyed the plot,the characters and the execution.It was a fun and easy read with an uncertain and not so predictable but really cute ending.
Emi is a lovable and relatable character.I was so invested in her journey that I felt all her troubles,stress and insecurities meeting his ex-fiancé at her brother's wedding.

This book surprised me. The plot was romantic, but not sappy and had some unexpected twists and turns. Loved the Friends references and the fact that Jack and Emi were obviously MFEO. Looking forward to Aimee's next book!

DNF at 60%.
I feel torn about this book. On one hand I don't want to read it any more, on the other hand I want to know what happens.
Told in alternate present day and flashbacks going backwards in time (for no reason that I could discern) this is the story of Emi Harrison. She caught her fiancee in a compromising position and broke things off then moved to Dallas where she opened up a coffee shop.
Now her ex-fiancee Jack Cabot's sister Hannah is marrying Emi's twin brother Evan and she is not only forced to attend the week long celebrations but also spend time with Jack and his new girlfriend, who only happens to be Emi's nemesis.
I don't know whether Jack really did cheat, the story from Emi's viewpoint really doesn't leave much wiggle room for a plausible explanation. Similarly, if Jack is distraught and desperate to get back with Emi why would he even allow such a nasty piece of work to hang around? I didn't like Emi's BFF Lily, she was pretty judgemental about Emi having two small airline glasses of wine - it was like she had downed a bottle of vodka - and she seems to put Emi down all the time. Hannah was also a Bridezilla and an unlikable character. Maybe, as I write this my feelings become clearer, it is just that I don't like any of the characters. Jack appears (at best) to be too afraid to say no, Emi is just wet and Lily's nemesis might as well have a coat made of Dalmatians.
I want to know Jack's excuse. I want to know if Emi goes back to Jack or starts something new with the sexy bar-owner Liam. But I don't like the characters enough to carry on reading.

The path of true love is never ever simple, trust me on that one, and this book proves that more than the average romance novel! I loved everything about this story, I was laughing right from I read the first page and you have just read that in the above excerpt! I honestly had no idea what to expect from this book, as we all know I don’t often read romance, but I knew I had to read it.
We have everything in this book. There is love, a wedding, deceit, hurt, sabotage, a bridesmaid dress that won’t go on without the help of torture device undies along with a grey dress…what else do we need?
Aimee has done a wonderful job with her first novel and I am really looking forward to reading anything else she pours herself into!

Books like this are the reason I read ChickLit. "Little Gray Dress" was captivating from the first pages and endearing 'til the last. The character interactions, dialogue, realistic scenes and reactions, delicious sexual tension, and likable, relatable characters kept me on edge as the story unfolded to the happily-ever-after I was hoping for!

Emis brother is marrying her ex fiancés sister. That is already screwed up. Jack cheated on her just days before their wedding and Emi sort of let herself go. Gained weight focused on work and now she has to deal with seeing jack again at her brothers wedding after all this time and Jack is engaged again.
Emis life is falling apart and she doesnt know what to do. But then Liam comes and makes everything better only for her to find out Jack wasnt who she thought he was... again.
They story dragged on as we go back in time to see how Emi and Jack met, got engaged, met his family and the ultimate betrayal they may or may my have even happened. What?
Anyway it dragged on towards the end i just wanted to skip over the past and get to the present to see what happened to them and their fate.
And ending was dorky. I would have changed alot.

Having them get engaged and married that day on the beach after everything seemed stupid and rushed what if they dont like eachother after all this time? Would you really want a ring that gretta had? It was all too oooh and ahh and life is perfect which was overkill and well I wanted her to end up with Liam because they would have a fresh start not some old love that had too much bad history with.

This is a great funny and emotional read. Sometimes things aren’t what they seem. Emi has managed not to see her ex-fiancé for nearly two years. Now her twin brother is marring his sister. She will be forced to see once again. She only hopes all his hair has fallen out and he has gotten fat. Emi’s is about to learn that she may have been wrong about Jack. The days leading up to the wedding are full of emotion and one accident after another. From bridesmaid’s dresses from hell to dealing with the truth. Things get even more interesting when she flees to a local dive bar. She meets the owner Liam, he is new and maybe just what she needs to prove she is over Jack. This book is funny, and a bit crazy. There are secrets and manipulation and more. The book is almost told in reverse. You start with Emi getting ready to go visit her brother leading up to the wedding. Then the story goes to the past and back to the present. Normally I’m not crazy with this story of storyline but I liked it this time. I love Emi. She doesn’t have the best luck and is trying her best in this very uncomfortable situation. She never imagined to would learn what she does or that attending the wedding might lead her back to Jack. I loved this book and can’t wait to read more books by Aimee in the future.

The Lucky Dress ( titled Little Gray Dress in the US) is a debut novel by Aimee Brown. What would you do if your ex was a wedding guest?
Emi and Jack were engaged to be married and then split after 5 years. She moves away to try and forget him. A year later, she finds herself planning her brother's wedding. And he's there with Greta, his girlfriend.
The plot is simple but so realistically and well executed in writing that flows like a dream. The title and beautiful cover attracted me to the book and I HAD to request it. For me, the book is timely as I'm planning my own wedding.
Emi is such an open, honest funny and realistic character. The themes of wedding jitters, clothing issues and relationships are explored so deeply that I really cared for the characters and was gripped from the first page. The book chronicles Eni and Jack's relationship from present to past and the chapters are told in alternating points of view which really got me inside the mind of characters and is one of my favourite ways to structure a novel.
I really liked Lily and Hannah too. There's so much anticipation, love realism and a true "real-life" feel to this that it is difficult to believe it's fiction.

There are some people who like these stories and then there are those, like yours truly, who loathe them. I’m sorry for the pages and energy wasted in the production of this story and angered at myself for wasting my time over this sorry excuse of romantic fiction.
The story flashes back and forth between present time, and this review contains all the spoilers.
It’s the wedding of the heroine’s brother to her ex fiance’s sister. Two years previously she’d dropped by her fiance’s Office, two days before their wedding, to say something or other, and had caught him seated on his couch with an almost naked receptionist seated on him. Cue break up. Later that evening, at the insistence of her friends she goes back to his apartment to talk, when she sees him letting another woman, her arch nemesis into the apartment.
In the present day she’s told he’s become engaged to said arch nemesis who’d also be attending the wedding, so she gets a bartender to pretend to be her date during the festivities.
Turns out the whole receptionist debacle had been a set up by the evil arch nemesis so that she could get the guy. Here is what I do not get, why would the guy sit there while his receptionist was stripping? Why would he remain seated long enough for her to climb on his lap? The description of him getting accidentally engaged to the arch nemesis was the most infuriating thing I’ve read in fiction. Why would he even hook up with her? And how could he not tear everything out to make his allleged love of his life, the heroine, understand what she’d seen in the first place had not been what it’d seemed? The conversation the heroine has with the hero’s colleague when she’s looking for him was just utterly stupid. How could a man be so weak, incapable and wimpy, that he’d spend two years, dropping by his colleague’s office every single day to discuss different ways he could get his ex- fiancé back and not getting around to do any of those things, but, at the same time, getting engaged to another woman??? Would you find such a guy romantic? And the worst bit was the impromptu wedding at the beach. It was super cheesy and kind of ridiculous. Also one more thing, he spent five years with the fiancé and it took him that long to propose to her, but he managed to propose to the villain evil other woman in less than six months? That is true love for you!!!!!!!!

How could a man be so weak, incapable and wimpy, that he’d spend two years, dropping by his colleague’s office every single day to discuss different ways he could get his ex- fiancé back and not getting around to do any of those things, but, at the same time, getting engaged to another woman??? Would you find such a guy romantic? And the worst bit was the impromptu wedding at the beach. It was super cheesy and kind of ridiculous. Also one more thing, he spent five years with the fiancé and it took him that long to propose to her, but he managed to propose to the villain evil other woman in less than six months? That is true love for you!!!!!!!!

Attracted by the cover I one-clicked this book. And you know what: Aimee Brown is an awesome writer. I love the way she writes, liked the structure of the story and she made me feel and for that it gets 4 big stars.
However, I did not really like the plot at all. Emi broke off her engagement to Jack days before her wedding because she thought he cheated on her. And even though they were so in love, it took TWO YEARS to fix? And only because her twin brother is marrying his sister and they are forced together at the wedding. I just can't... It made me actually really sad.
The fact that Jack is also engaged to Emi's nemesis. I just don't get that. Even when it is explained why and how, for me this ruined so much.
Yes, the ending was lovely but the pain and suffering both went through... Emi and Jack both were great characters and I wish their story had played out differently and in a shorter timeframe. And especially without the OW drama.
