Beautiful photographs, exquisite line drawings, and a clear and comprehensive text explore the world of the koala, an endangered species that has won the world's heart, showing the endearing creature's past and its place in aboriginal creation myths.
The book was published in 1994 so it not up to date about Australia's "save the Koalas" programs. I did learn about Koalas. They are not just cute cuddly animals and why you don't see them in zoos.
The format of the book belies the content, which is actually incredibly informative. The book was intended for a broad audience, and therefore the coffee-table appearance and numerous photographs make it more digestible; however, the author displays an amazing breadth and depth of knowledge about koalas. Ken Phillips has now passed, but so long as people continue to stumble upon this book, his passion for koalas will live on.
