Deep undercover to investigate rumors of embezzlement at one of his family’s companies, Jayce Roman finds himself magnetically attracted to his number one suspect.
Lonely omega Wren Smith is a single father struggling to provide a good life for his hard-of-hearing daughter in an alpha’s world. When his mate Travis Mueller was killed in a tragic accident, the wealthy Mueller family refused to acknowledge Wren or Harriet, perceiving them both as a threat to their “perfect" son’s legacy. Wren is proud of the life he’s built on his own since Travis left them with nothing, and he’s grateful to have a job at a company that’s willing to employ a single-parent omega, even if it means covering for his smarmy boss. But when a young alpha named Jack Coheed shows up amid rumors of a company audit, Wren finds himself at the center of a high-stakes investigation -- and the dashing alpha’s attention.
With a newly minted Econ degree and a desire to prove himself to his family, Jayce Roman is finally ready to get serious. He wants more out of life than an endless string of modelesque lovers and meaningless flings, and Wren Smith is more in every way. The husky omega is clever and responsible, and seemingly oblivious to the nerdy charm that has Jayce smitten at first sight. Unfortunately for him, Wren isn’t at all interested in being swept off his feet by a much younger alpha and all signs point to the omega being at the center of the very corruption Jayce was sent to investigate.
When Jayce’s secret identity and Wren's secrets collide, Jayce will have to prove he can step up and be not only a mate to Wren but a father to his daughter as well. The omega’s dream of a happily ever after might have been shattered, but this alpha is determined to fit the pieces back together.
This is the second book in the Undercover Alphas series. Readers 18+ only.
Hmmm... I was pretty excited about the book, but the reason why it fell flat for me is that there wasn't much romance development between Jayce and Wren. The plot revolved too much around solving the embezzlement issue and too little on the romance between the MCs. I hope the next story ends up surprising me to cloud 9!
🟡 Age gap 🟠 Single dad 🔴 Omegaverse 🔵 Mpreg 🟣 Imprinting
Jayce is the youngest Roman brother who just finished college and gave up the fuck/party-boy image to work in his father's company, so the family would start taking him seriously. Lionel sends him on an undercover mission to one of their accounting companies, EraCorp, where he realises the power imbalance between Omegas and Alphas is terrible and the boss, Tyler, is even worse.
This was my Jayce.
Working in EraCorp he meets Wren, an almost 40 year old Omega, who's a single dad. His ex and late partner didn't mark-bite him and left him all alone, with no financial or family back-up to take care of their daughter, who's hearing impaired. Wren works in IT, so his boss, Tyler is using him to cover up his tracks of stealing the company's money.
This was my Wren. Yes, I'll admit, this is a hotter version of Wren. 😉
I really liked this dynamic. Jayce is so much younger, he's hot, famous and completely out of Wren's league. Wren is older, he doesn't have a toned body and he's pretty average, but Joyce imprints on him and that's final, Wren gets his perfect love story after all.
I was hoping to read more about that said dynamic, about their everyday life together and how Wren was coping with everything in his new found love and life.
They moved to Jayce's house and Wren's little daughter Harry finally got her dream home with dogs, but I wanted to know more about the couple, more of their time together experiencing things. Yes, I wanted Jayce to show Harry the dogs and them having a moment together. The spice was more detailed in this one, so I really liked that.
Next is the daddy book, so I'm really hoping it's a good one.
I enjoyed that this story had a bit of a different omega/alpha relationship - the omega is older than the alpha in this, and he has a daughter with a hearing disability. I loved Wren and wanted nothing but happiness for him and his daughter. Jayce was the perfect alpha for him and I thought they had good chemistry and heat together.
Newly graduated accountant Jayce Roman is going on his first undercover operation for Roman Enterprises. His father suspects someone is embezzling millions from EraCorp, a company his family owns, and wants Jayce to figure out who is behind it.
Wren is a struggling single Omega father who works for EraCorp. When he gets in over his head and his boss blackmails him the only person he can turn to is Jack (Jayce undercover.)
I absolutely love this series as a whole and that includes Jayce and Wren's characters in this 2nd book. (I read them out of order and I wouldn't recommend that.) The book is in both of their POV. Wren is just so loveable and Jayce/Jack is the perfect Alpha to protect him. Wren's daughter, Harriet, is just too cute.
This second pairing of the series which is a relatively simple and sweet story of an Alpha providing a bit of rescue for an Omega facing difficulties, with an mpreg HEA.
I'm sorry, but there's only so many veiled (or blatant) references to the main character's weight that I can take before I give up. And to top it off, given that we're constantly hearing about how pudgy or 'non-athletic' the main character is, you'd think someone might have informed the cover designer about that detail. Nope, we're given two young, fit and attractive guys- is it because they think representing characters on the cover as written would hurt sales? It's a shame because I really liked the first book.
Once again, I loved everything about this book. I thought that the characters were well developed and complex. The plot was exciting and I was kept engaged throughout the story seeing how Jayce and Wren were going to be able to get out from under Tyler's thumb. I also loved that Wren didn't have the perfect body, or a pristine history, but Jayce still saw value in him, and was attracted to him, from the beginning.
So good, read this straight through couldn't put it down.
Sexy Playboy Alpha Jayce knows what he wants and goes for it and it so happens that he wants nerdy, single father Omega Wren who is caught up in some office intrigue.
This is a great Alpha/ Omega non-shifter series. Book 2 was just as good as the first one, I'm really enjoying reading about the Roman alphas finding their omegas. I can't wait to read Lionel's book next.
The whole Omega thing is explained a bit more in this outing of the Undercover Alphas. Again, if you are expecting to see some shifters, you'll be disappointed. But we do have lots of talk about alphas and omegas and it's an interesting world that we are introduced to. On to the next one!
Lol what? I did like the younger playboy alpha bending over backwards for the older, dad-bod omega though. That was sweet and a more unusual omegaverse pairing.
3.5/4 stars Enjoyed this one more than the first BUT my biggest peeve that kinda almost ruined the story for me was when Wren accepted Jayce's bite before he had even introduced Jayce to his daughter! His daughter is supposed to be the most important person in his life and he just goes and makes the biggest a decision that will also affect her without getting her opinion???
But besides that I really enjoyed the plotting and I liked Wren as a character.
