Poison Kisses #3

Poison Kisses: Part 3

Rate this book

Part Three of the sexy, thrilling three-part Poison Kisses serial.

Sexy. Dark. Edgy. Poison Kisses is a spinoff story from Lisa Renee Jones's sexy Dirty Money world told in three novellas.

Those you love, know how to hurt you. Those you love, know what to hide, because they know what is unforgivable to you.

Now that I know what Seth hid from me, I want the secret to be the lie. I don't want to kill him. I don't want to leave him. I guess that is why they say there is a fine line between love and hate. I love and hate that man with such passion, that it damn near hurts. But now, as we face down our shared enemies, as we are lead right back to an explosive discover about my family, and to the night Seth and I parted ways, we will both be exposed in every way.

And it's time for me to decide if I plan to love Seth Cage for the rest of my life, or kill him, before he kills me.

Are you ready to play by the hard rules of the Brandon family empire? Look for the enthralling Dirty Money series: Hard Rules, Damage Control, Bad Deeds and End Game.

I have a super-sized headache today, so this review is going to be blingless...

Well, this one turned out to be the best of the three parts for me. We finally stopped with the around and around BS (although the first bit was a bit repetitive). But overall this three book series was my least favorite by this author.

description

I usually love this author's books. She knows how to write a fantastic story without all the cliché tropes and OW shit. So you can imagine my shock when I opened part one super excited to read it only to be smacked in the face with a sex scene between our hero and some skank (I am just kidding she was probably a very lovely person *lol*). I know what you are thinking; Eve you are just too picky! I admit I AM sometimes. Especially when it comes to POINTLESS OW stuff, and that was the case here because does that OW plays a part later in the book? NO. Do we ever even see or hear about her again? NO. It added ZERO to the story. In fact, the hero is all up in Amanda's business a mear few hours after having his dick in this OW. So what the f-ck was the point of that scene? Did I need even to read that? I didn't. Strike one...

Now, I could have gotten over that IF during those three years apart the heroine had been getting herself some. If it's good for the goose it is good for the gander I say. Well HELLO, cliché number two. The heroine stayed all shiny and fresh never to welcome another penis (instead she got a cat <-- like that isn't sad AT ALL *lol*) while of course as you can see from my comments above the hero got around and around and around. Strike two...

description

I think in this case my expectations got the better of me and the clichés that this author usually does a fantastic job of avoiding colored my feelings over all three parts. I'm sure had the author left out that pointless opening scene my rating would have been higher. Maybe that isn't fair on my part, but pointless OW and cliché topes are getting be a HUGE pet peeve of mine lately.

That said, I am sure my overly picky a$$ will be in the minority. C'est la vie...

Told from Amanda’s perspective, the author flashes us back to ‘that day’ to get her side of the story. And it was just as I thought ;) The lies, betrayals and truths start making themselves known and it takes Amanda and Seth finally standing united to put the pieces together. Will anyone be standing with them when everything is revealed? Fingers crossed for Bear!

This installment was more fast-paced than the previous two and kept my adrenaline high while I waited to see the chips fall where they may. The author did an incredible job of leading us down the rabbit hole and I loved that the couple was much more solid than before, making their story exciting and worthwhile. I’m just hoping that Bear gets his own story too!!

Love Seth and Amanda!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I do love them, but honestly I had a hard time finding that suck in your breath, hard core connection with this series. I think it was due to the fact that it was broken into pieces and I had to wait for the next installment.
I am not a patient reader. I want to know what is happening now and be able to finish as fast or slow as I want to. Having to wait for more just annoyed me and I lost pieces of the story too.
Now about Part 3 of the story. As usual, this author brings the goods. She is amazing at crafting stories that play with your emotions and grab your senses.
It pains me to give this series a 4 star review. It was not the story at all as a whole, but rather the brokenness of it all. I need to get the feels and the heart pounding emotions all at one setting.
Btw. book #3 is told in Amanda's POV.
It starts right where the 2nd one ended: Seth runs back into the hotel room to stop Amanda from seeing that message on his phone.
But it was too late of course. She's seen it and she's pointing the gun at him.
She needs answers or she'll kill him - even if it will kill her too, because she's always loved him more than anything. But of course we very quickly talk things out and start trusting each other again.
And of course we still have to find the crazy poison killer and we have to make that antidote and we have to save the world and Amanda and Seth's happily ever after!
Lots of stuff to fight through - but we'll get there! ☺
Now that I've read all three books ... I can say that I really enjoyed Seth's story. It was sexy, exciting, mysterious.
But what I didn't love-love was that it was a three-part thingy. I'm not a fan of a series of books. Because I always forget what happened. Lisa is amazing in that she always tells us about what happened in the last book in the beginning of the new one. So I should be a fan of a series that is released within a few weeks, but weirdly I'm still not a fan. I want all of the story to be in one book. BUT - that's just me, other readers probably won't mind!
People who were wondering about, or even already loved Seth in the Dirty Money series will love him even more now. He's a great guy trying to save his woman and the world! ☺ READ IT!!!
I reviewed Poison Kisses 2 and 3 together so this same review is posted under each book.
Lisa Renee Jones takes Romantic Suspense and kicks it up to the point that you have no idea where anything is headed. Poison Kisses 1, 2 and 3 make up an interesting, exciting, love/hate story that had me totally enthralled and captivated. Twists and turns that took my totally by surprise and a beautiful love story makes this one fantastic series.
Seth and Amanda, the secrets they are keeping and the love they have for each other is what made this story as engrossing as it was. As they try to catch a potential killer, they are also trying to clear Amanda's name, figure out who all the players are, who set her up and not kill each other. They are suspicious of each other, as well as, everyone around them. It's hard to trust when you think you have been betrayed. But, the truth finally starts coming out … feelings, that never died, are revealed and accepted as truth … family betrayal comes to light … the participants that caused all the drama are finally revealed. The story comes full circle and ends where it all began.
I am a true fan of Lisa Renee Jones, her style of writing and just the way she tells a story. The way she makes her stories flow is amazing. What I loved most about the Poison Kisses series is that we got both Seth and Amanda's views and feelings. We were brought into their world and understood why they were like they were. She made them an amazing team both in and out of bed. She knows how to write dark … she knows how to write erotica … she knows when to lighten up the story line and when to be really serious. But, most of all, she knows how to write the perfect ending with an HEA that fits the story perfectly.
Poison Kisses Part 3 really delivered when it came to the rest of Seth & Amanda's story. It starts with a flashback to "that day" and then immediately following it we get back to present time. They are as hot as ever together and I liked that there wasn't any BS to their relationship.
I wasn't a fan of having the book broken up into 3 parts.The novella length wasn't fun for me, but this is probably just a personal preference because I don't like novellas in general.
By the end of the book I really enjoyed Bear's character. I know that Poison Kisses is a spin-off of Dirty Money, but can we have a spin-off of a spin-off with Bear as the main character?? I can already tell I would love him.
I received an advance reader copy of this book that I have chosen to review.
We are back on assignment as Mr & Mrs Jones in TX looking for our shared enemy before he poison the water supply. Bear is our new handler from CIA and we need to know if he's dirty, so the poison princess is in action and Bear had 15 mins to give them all the answers they were looking for and pass without failing. Now they must find where the poison is and create an antidote before he stricks and has gotten proof that her mother has been killed and The Assassin had the kill order. So now they have to not only clear Amanda name Seth has to convince her he didn't do it. While finding out her father is alive and probably working with the rogue CIA agent. Will Seth convince Amanda she can trust him and get the bad guys too?
This is the book 3 and the last book in the Poison Kisses trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones. OMG Seth and Amanda…what can I say about these tortured lovebirds? Their story has been heartbreaking, torturous, electric, sizzling and revealing. I do want to say, since this is the last part to their story you really should read the previous books 'Poison Kisses Part 1 and 2'. This is a short but powerful conclusion of their story along with wrapping up the mystery of really happened.
I loved this book and I found it to be one of the best books of the series although it is at times heartbreaking and not what all I was expecting. I was so sad this was the end of the series but I am so glad that Seth got his story told. I hope there are more stories in this world. I will be on the lookout to see what is next in this world for the heroes and heroines totally rock!
My Rating: 4.6 stars *****
Espionage, deadly poisons and dirty operations run amok in this finale of the Poison Kisses serial.
This is seriously thrilling. With a sharp style and no room for hesitancy, the plot tightens to a suffocating point. Seth and Amanda break through the last issue between them. Trust becomes a hot, deep, tantalizing test that reinforces their relationship and surely made my breathing heavy. What a scene!
The operation in motion reaches a crescendo, unburying the past in shocking ways. I enjoyed the scene with Bear and the piece of paper. Please, read that! Also, I'd love to read his own story and meet the woman who can handle all his glorious size. And Julie... what a phenomenal addition :-D
The threat to the population is handled through the skills and dedication of many minds working together. It shows the amount of thinking that was put into the investigation, how to link all the details and organize the threads into a coherent, smart and satisfying ending. I thought it would go differently, yet it was an interesting move. And the HEA is well deserved.
I'm addicted to this bunch of action men. I hope there are more stories in this world.
The Poison Kisses Trilogy comes to an end with this third installment. Seth and Amanda are in a race against time to stop a madman. They must navigate dangerous waters while putting their trust in one another. I loved watching them in their element. Brilliant and tough, an unstoppable force. While I was captivated by this story, I couldn’t help but feel a little dissatisfied with the conclusion of Amanda’s personal aspect. I was hoping for a bit more here.
Jones’ writing drops us right in the middle of the excitement. There may have been some aspects that I wanted more from, but the action, mystery, and romance were more than enough to keep me turning pages. As always, I can’t wait to get my hands on whatever Jones delivers next.
We finally get all the answers and then some! This installment picks up right where the second one left off, and YIKES it was a doozy, I was seriously expecting the Princess of Poison to let Seth have some of her infamous touches that would lead to some serious hurt but I have to say that I was really happy when she saved that for someone else. I'm not going to give anything away but there are many facets to this case they are trying to solve and we get to the heart of it all in this third and final installment of Poison Kisses.
** ARC kindly provided for an honest review. **
It was so far my favorite part, more interesting, thrilling and finally more answers.
I was waiting for them. I finally get it… most of.
After two long parts, were Amanda and Seth were almost trying not kill each other literally but having tons of hot and angry intercourse, in their mission to save the world. Now it was about time to finally trust and prove that all they felt was real, and mostly worth the fight.
Surprisingly, I got intrigued by another character, who I guess had some story to tell as well. I wanted to get connected to their story but I got distracted sometimes.
This part was well more rounded than the others, I was glad to see Amanda and Seth getting their HEA, not having to look upon their shoulder but finally get the ending they should have years ago.
In the final part of the serial, we get the flip side of the revelations, told from Amanda's point of view all of the puzzle pieces are cleverly tied together with a few surprises thrown in.
I loved seeing Amanda's guard come down where Seth was concerned rebuilding the trust between them that was severed so badly during their previous mission. Insight is gained as to Amanda's upbringing, the depth of her feelings for Seth and also the loneliness of the life she has lead so far.
Clever use of characters from Lisa's Tall, Dark and Deadly series add to the action within Poison Kisses. Opening up additional avenues to achieve the desired resolution. the narrative is high-energy and fast-paced tying all of the plot threads together as well as providing some unexpected events.
I really loved the ending of this serial showing just how perfect Seth and Amanda are for each other.
Poison Kisses (Complete Series) by Lisa Renee Jones
3.5 stars!!!!
“I don’t like unknowns. Ever. Unknowns mean trouble. And trouble gets you killed.”
Poison Kisses is a three-part series, each book released a week apart and the concluding part released this week. This was one of those series where I had to read each instalment as soon as it hit my kindle and for the hour or so they take to read my eyes never left the pages. CIA/FBI, espionage, assassins in all guises makes this entertaining reading and certainly leaves the reader trying to read between the lines, distinguish the trusted from the untrustworthy and try and gauge if the good guys really can win.
“Without trust, there are just enemies.”
If you have read the Dirty Money series, you will have heard of Seth, as he was Shane’s right hand man and ex-CIA, and now Lisa Renee Jones has graced us with his own book. In the Dirty Money series, he was a bit of an enigma, extremely professional, well connected and seemed detached and impassive. It is only after reading this first instalment I truly appreciated just how cold he was, the CIA changes you, but being burnt and betrayed by your partner and your lover will do that to you too.
“I don’t remember ever living in a perfect world for even one day of my life. There are just façades of perfection.”
They say that you are never ex-CIA, even if you are and while Shane is on his honeymoon, Seth is recalled into the fold to follow, assist and maybe kill another ex-agent, who just so happens to be his ex-partner, his ex-lover, the woman that destroyed him for all others, an agent dubbed the Scientist or the Poison Princess…so it is only right they call upon the agent once named the Assassin.
“You might be the Assassin, but I’m the Scientist. And if you think I’m not your match, think again.”
When these two are re-united, both are well aware of the others objectives, neither trusts the other and yet the explosive chemistry that these two once shared is still prevalent in spades. But, they hate each other, but we all know there is a fine line between love and hate.
“Amanda, for now, we’re on our way to save lives. And then we’re going to try to take each other’s. But I’m pretty damn sure we’re going to fuck a time or ten before we get there. Because that’s what you do to your enemies. You fuck them.”
This series is action packed, fast paced and I feel skirts the realms of plausibility as far as FBI/CIA agents are concerned, but it makes for entertaining reading. I adore this authors writing style, but for me, this series could have done with being a little longer, certain parts explored greater in depth and the ending for me felt convenient and rushed. Over the previous two, and half of this instalment we had a fantastic build up and then it was all over while I blinked. Overall though, this series has been an entertaining read for people like me who love crime, mysteries and thrillers it certainly scratches the itch, but this was one of those itches that kept moving and the book series didn’t catch up.
“I was always the Poison Princess to you, wasn’t I?”
“You were my kind of poison.”
However, as ever with a Lisa Renee Jones read the chemistry was palpable, the action between the sheets was incredibly hot and the dialogue was on point. The heart wants who the heart wants and despite a three year break the chemistry that these had is as prevalent as ever. While the sexual chemistry is reignited straight away it takes a while for the trust element to reignite, but these two work well together and I was glad that these two didn’t just pick up from where they left off. They re-build, but as I said above I felt a little more depth here would have gone a long way. Overall though a very thrilling read.
“Don’t do that to us…Don’t do that to me.”
*Poison Kisses: Part Three contains spoilers for the previous books in the series and cannot standalone.
You know you are in for a crazy ride when a book opens with a gun wielding heroine whose aim is on the hero’s head. After the bomb that was dropped in Part Two, I was crazy excited to see how the conclusion of this series would play out.
In Part Three, we finally get Amanda’s point of view after being in Seth’s head during the last two books. Seeing the betrayal through her eyes kicks things up a notch. She wants to pull the trigger but she wants answers more. She also needs to complete the mission before innocent lives are lost and time is not on her side. She knows they must work together more now than ever if they are going stop Dr. Ross but it's not going to be easy.
I like being in Amanda’s head. She’s a mess after seeing evidence that turns her world upside down, but she is stronger and braver than ever. I love that she acknowledges her vulnerabilities and accepts them while diving headfirst into the action.  The conflicted feelings she experiences are intense, overwhelming, and completely understandable. Seth is there for her through all the pain, and I loved that he fought to bring back the trust that was broken and the love they thought died. His unconditional support is what she needs to move on from the past and he proves to her that they belong together.
This man is the Mr. Jones to my Mrs. Jones those around us believe us to be, but he has become so much more. He is my best friend and the man I love when I swore I’d never fall in love, for too many reasons to list.
Seth is still a complete badass and I love how he takes control of the mission. He does what he needs to do and kicks ass when getting the job done.
"I'm CIA. We do whatever we want and say we didn't."
With Amanda’s flashbacks we get a clearer picture of what happened and we finally get the answers we so desperately wanted. The way the story unfolded was full of suspense, mystery, and excitement. There were twists I didn’t see coming and though I enjoyed the ending, I thought it wrapped up a little to neatly, resolving quickly and too easily as they got their HEA.
However, new information is given at the very end leaving the story with room to continue.  I am curious to see if Lisa Renee Jones will take things further and I hope she revisits Seth and Amanda, especially because they like to be in the thick of things and there are always other action packed missions.
Part three of Poison Kisses continues where Part two ended with a major cliffhanger. Seth and Amanda are living a life filled with betrayal and do not know who to trust. Someone is setting them up to take the fall for so many things going on. The person setting them up wants to separate them to get Amanda on the run, so they can’t take her out. Seth will fight to the death to protect her and clear their names. In this part of the story they bring in many players to help them close this case and get all the answers they are looking for. Amanda is telling the story from her POV and we get to see what is inside her mind. This part of the story has all the action and intrigue you can count on it to have. Seth helps Amanda see who she truly can be and how being with him makes both stronger. Their love is all encompassing, and you could only wish to have something like that.
There is no cliffhanger here and all your questions will be answered when you go out to read the final part of Poison Kisses. They are in a battle to stay ahead of their enemy in this part and they both show us what they are made of. Here is when they build up their relationship by sharing themselves with one another and putting their trust in each other. Who doesn’t love a romance where the two main characters get a second chance to have the relationship they were meant to have. Even though we get some romance we also get some mystery, suspense, and action with a dirty talking couple to keep us entertained throughout the rest of the story. Lisa gives us a wonderful climax to Seth and Amanda’s journey and I hope you enjoy it as well. You will not be disappointed when you read this part because you will see Seth and Amanda come full circle.
** ARC provided by the author for an honest review **
How can you tell the good guy from the bad guy, when the good guy holds a devastating secret? Part three in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones’ serial Poison Kisses gives us an explosive and unexpected conclusion.
Amanda and Seth are now running for their lives. Unable to trust that one isn’t trying to kill the other, they stick close as they unravel and piece together this convoluted puzzle. Who’s telling the truth, and what happens when everything reaches the light of day?
We finally get to know where Amanda has been for the past three years. Where she was hiding and what she was doing. And we get it in her own voice. That’s right this one is in Amanda’s POV and as much as I love Seth, I was happy and excited to learn more about the Poison Princess.
I highly recommend reading this serial back to back, unless you want to torture yourself. This was intense, full of action and espionage, and a whole lot of heat. Lots of twists and turns, betrayals and a heck of a lot of lies. Overall this has been one awesome ride. Here’s to hoping that a certain secondary character gets his story told also. Four stars.
Well, hello Amanda's POV.
I really enjoyed getting the details of what happened from Amanda. It gave a different angle to the story as well as a different perspective on what happened, not only in the present, but 3 years ago.
Again, this starts about 4 seconds after the previous title ends, and with a little sum up of the previous book, by the author. I love that Lisa Renee Jones does this. Not because I wasn't paying attention to the others, but because I might have not put enough importance on an event that the author wants me to have noticed, and this is the perfect chance to make sure I am on the same page going in.
I enjoyed this title, the twists and the turns, as well as the ending which I thought was both satisfying and realistic.
I enjoyed all 3 of these books, the plot was fun, and interesting and I had a great time reading them...even if reviewing them is not the easiest thing to do for all the spoilers.
And, while I noticed it in all 3 books, I want to mention here...Amanda's cat Julie. What a lovely way to remember a beloved pet...giving her life in a book. I loved this.
Seth and Amanda knows what’s at stake when it comes to protecting their country. Now knowing betrayal wasn’t as what it seemed, they come together to figure out who was behind it all and to save lives while saving each other.
“We’re alone without each other, even when other people are in the room. And while I used to believe that alone was good, alone was safe, you don’t know alone until you’ve been something other than alone. And after three years of knowing alone intimately without him, I now know alone is not a good thing to be. And I didn’t just do that to me. I did it to him. And that means I can’t save him without being with him. And he can’t save me without being with me.”
I loved this story! It had pulled me in from the get go. Their vulnerability whether it was in his voice or hers was real and it put me through the ringer! Just gave me all the feels!
Can’t wait for more!
Part Three
“Those you love, know how to hurt you. Those you love, know what to hide, because they know what is unforgivable to you.”
In the conclusion of Poison Kisses Part Three by Lisa Renee Jones, everything finally comes together. This picks up immediately where two left off, a gun wielding Amanda ready to kill Seth for lying to her, and him rushing to explain that they were once again being set up. This installment is told from Amanda’s POV, and it was intriguing to see what she was thinking, especially since it was her life being destroyed.
I thoroughly enjoyed the action packed tale of betrayal and lies, as we hoped The Assassin and Poison Princess could beat the clock. While I am not a fan of the story being split into three parts, matter of fact I’ll have to pass in the future, I did enjoy the intensity and heat of this one. Overall, the ARC of the story was thought out, it was fast paced espionage at its finest, and Seth and Amanda had some great chemistry.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Lisa Renee Jones!
What a finale. After so many questions, we finally know what happened! As you read the book, you form hypotheses that will be countered over and over until the truth cones out and surprises you.
I kind of wish the resolution had more bang, but it is a neat and complete one, completely in line with how agents like to work. So despite it not being a huge bang, it is a fitting one.
In true Jones fashion, she ties in this series with her others, and I love the web she creates with all her books. It creates depth, and makes us nostalgic, reminiscing the other characters’ stories.
Lastly, I am actually quite fond of this format. The three short of parts, is appealing and innovative. Definitely a fun read!
This review applies to both Book #2 and #3
Seth and Amanda are still trying to stay alive and ahead of the bad guys seeking to kill them. They have a job to do and they must succeed or a lot of innocent people will die. As they continue their fragile alliance, the past keeps surfacing. Trust is not easy even though they love each other. This love/hate relationship will just have to simmer in the back burner as they try to find the elusive killer before he strikes again.
The story is enhanced by the 360 degrees outlook on the past and the present predicaments. Both POVs (Seth and Amanda's) further intrigue us into finding out the answers to all the questions and secrets. Great thriller with an ending that leaves us wanting more.
I am voluntarily reviewing these books. I thank the author for sharing a copy with me.
** Part 3 Review : 5 BRILLIANT STARS **
Out of the three books, this is probably my favorite.
Not just because the truth was finally revealed, but because I get to read Seth being humanized by a cat and it's just beautiful to see a strong, ruthless man turn wanton for the woman he loves. Also, my crush for Amanda is real, her intelligence and strength was what drew me in the first place, she brings kickass to a whole new level and I couldn't even imagine a more perfect match for Seth.
The entire series was fast paced and absolutely thrilling, but leave it to Lisa to create a brilliant storyline that leaves you wanting for more.
Oh wow! I knew when I finished part 1 and immediately picked up part 2 and then in the same day picked up this one it was going to be good but WOW this one was the best of the three! Part 3 pretty much concentrates on Amanda's side of the story and we finally figure out what is going on and wrap it up with a nice bow. I was quite satisfied with the ending and, thank you Lisa for leaving it open for Seth and Amanda to eventually go on assignment if you want to take them there.
What a shocking and stunning conclusion to Seth and Amanda's journey!
Once again Seth and Amanda are at a point where their trust in each other comes into play. Seth insisting that he did not try to kill her parents while Amanda thinks he did. After some very good negotiating skills by Seth, Amanda finally believes him and now they are working to figure out who actually did it all the while trying to stop Franklin. The love and trust that they have for each other is evident.
I was not expecting that ending but excited for them both.
They have one common goal. Survival! Happiness seems out of their hands, but temptation is an ever constant companion. Can their killer instinct survive their heart's desire? The danger is real. The attraction is strong and the heartache can be deadly. Cliff jumping is an adrenaline rush but a dangerous past time. Therein lies the thrill. Poison Kisses is a risky endeavor, but a rewarding experience.
Jones continues to turn up the heat in this series. Seth and Amanda take us on a journey of love and mistrust surrounded in world of betrayals and danger. Jones delivers the ending we yearned for with a slew of yummy detailed scenes that will have your toes curling. A great fun read!
Action Packed. Fast Paced. Sexy
These are the three things that characterizes Lisa's work.
I must say I fell in love real hard with Seth and Amanda, their strong development and will is most certainly something that stands out real fast when reading.and getting to know them.
In the final book of this standalone trilogy is all about fighting to ind out the truth, solving the mystery to who is behind Amanda's and her parent's set up, but also about saving people.
Secrets are being disclosed and trust issues come to surface once again.
I loved every page of this book and that's a fact !
