Should you take the job? Quit the job? Begin a relationship? End a relationship? Move? Plant roots?

How do we find God’s will for life's big decisions?

What if you had total freedom?

Emerson Eggerichs believes there is a clear answer to finding God’s will. The Bible itself reveals the clue--a secret hidden in plain sight.

Before launching his Love & Respect marriage ministry with wife Sarah, Emerson was a senior pastor for nearly 20 years in East Lansing Michigan. Before that, Emerson and a friend ran a free counseling center called “The Open Door” in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

As Emerson navigated his career he found both he and the people he was counseling were wrestling with big decisions and knowing if that decision was really what God wanted.

Immersing himself in God’s word for over 30 hours a week for 19 years, he discovered simple, clear truths that set him and many others free.

There is a starting point to discovering God’s Will for your next decision and for your entire life. Begin here to read stories of people in the same situations you face today. You’ll be able to discover the freedom you’ve been searching for, and then, like Emerson, you’ll help others find that freedom too.

This book digs in deep and stirs up some very good food for thought! Here’s a question from Chapter 2…..”If Jesus Christ appeared to you and asked you to do something you didn’t want to do, would you do it?” Are we praying as Jesus did in the garden, “Yet not as I will, but as You will.” or are we reversing it and saying to God, “Yet not as YOU will, but as I will.”

In Chapter 8, I appreciated this reminder…..”When we submit to God’s four wills, we must prepare for tough times. The book of James teaches that trials come to all of us and the Apostle Paul shares numerous trials and hardships he endured. The idea that God’s will removes difficulties overlooks reality and the Bible.”

I appreciated this because I believe God blesses His people and loves us and God is good all the time, yet that doesn’t mean life will be easy and always exactly how I want it. I need the reminder that God is there in the trials and He has not forgotten me or cast aside His will for my life.

The 4 Wills of God was a truly inspiring read to me.

Great read. highly recommended for all Christians. A group of men at our church are going through it, and I've recommended to a group of new believers who are looking to grow in their faith. The book is one that I think edifies Christians in all different phases of their growth and journey, both new and old.

I always approach books that claim to know the precise will of God with skepticism. Thankfully the author establishes a more general, universal will of God that's totally bible based; and the unique will of God follows naturally. Refreshing and challenging read!

This book offered some really practical and helpful tips on decision making! It is Biblical and has verses to back up His claims, or rather His claims come directly from the Word. The premise is that the four wills of God are directly stated in the Bible as this: believe in Jesus Christ, abstain from sexual sin, give thanks in everything and submit in doing right. These are the four wills of God because each of those statements are verses in the Bible which those phrases are followed directly by “and this is the will of God for you life”. In addition there is the unique will of God for your life, which is things such as what job should I take or where should I move to/live etc. The idea is that if you follow and are obedient to the four wills then you can trust that God will be faithful to reveal His unique will for you. However, in times that he doesn’t you can trust and have faith that God will take care of you in whatever path you take, as long the choices are not sinful.

Good book! I did skip a few sections on the chapter on moral purity (too many details on issues I'm not currently seeking with, that I don't need to be thinking about).

This is a book that absolutely every christian should read. No exceptions! It will help you more clearly understand how to find God’s will for your life by following his universal wills that have already been clearly laid out in scripture. I absolutely love the message of this book and the brutally honest way that Emmerson shares it. He doesn’t pull punches and he doesn’t shrink back from stating the whole truth. This is a book that can radically change your life and your walk with Christ. Get it. Read it. Today.

Favorite Quote: “That’s the real tension in faith. If you truly believe God for everything there are going to be times that you’ll feel like an idiot for trusting Him because until He comes through you don’t know if He’s going to. If He doesn’t, then you feel like maybe you weren’t supposed to trust His promise like that. So we play it safe and worry and fret instead of trust.”

3.5 Interesting read with an easy amount of depth.

This wasn't too much, nor was it too little. The overall message was clear and worth following. But I don have some gripes. He does talk about the sinners prayer in the chapter about believing in Jesus. I’m not sure if that is the wisest thing to promote. The whole act of being born again seemed a little soft on repentance. He talked repeatedly about inviting Jesus into your heart instead of repenting of your sins and believing the gospel. He also quotes from The Message “translation.”

Overall, he has a good idea about being obedient to 4 explicit wills of God, but things are muddied a bit with the above issues. It's worth reading if you do so with some discernment.

An excellent book on finding the personal will of God in our lives. The message of this book is basically that as we focus on doing the 4 general revealed wills of God, as found in the scripture, God reveals His personal will in our lives. This book does not belong in the fluffy, "How to make your life better now by manipulating God" genre so common in Christian bookstores or catalogs these days. A solid 4 stars!!

I think this book is a must read for all Christians. It goes into the 4 Wills of God and how these should be a part of our walk with Christ. I learned so much from this book and I am already applying it to my own life and walk with Christ. It has also helped me with in indecisive nature when it comes to what my purpose is and what I should do with my life. I highly recommend this book.

Very well written book. Dr. Emerson gives a lot of good insight on how we should be living and why these 4 wills are very important. He highlights a lot of areas where there might not be a "perfect" answer where we are free to make a decision as long as it's not against God and His word. Il The freedom he presents in decisions is enlightening.

Great Reading!

After reading this book, I was greatly enlightened by this teaching. We so often look for God's will for our lives without considering if we are satisfying His will. I would recommend this book to anyone who is seeking God's direction.

Wow. This book lays out how to live a life guided by God. It handles it better and dives deeper into some topics than a lot of books I have read. The freedom to direct our own steps once we have stayed in His will is incredible. Lots for me to ponder and act on.

Good info - easy to read - could have been shorter but I guess repetition and anecdotes are pleasing to some people...too many 'this guy applied it this way' for my tastes.
