I'm not even sure what the hell is going on with this cover. One, he is a very unappealing puke shade of green, and two, it looks like someone pasted a half shirt onto his naked torso....LMAO

I love these Zyrgin guys. I don't know why, but I do. Their sense of humor (haha!) and how they take everything literally. But no matter how tough and serious they are, they will do anything and everything to protect their breeder (aka: wife). I don't blame the women freaking out when they're called that. Who wouldn't? Viglar was more stuffy than the others, so it was nice to see him let go a little and the relationship between him and Madison was more give-and-take. He conceded on several accounts for her.

The world building continues in this fourth book, and while I feel bad for the human race, I can see good coming out of what the Zyrgin are doing. Humanity was dying. Knowledge was lost. And while the Zyrgin are all high-and-mighty, their intentions are good. Can't wait for the next book in this series. There were quite a few typos that I came across (added words, wrong words, etc), but it didn't distract from the story for me. But this could use a proofreader.

This is a good story, arrogant, bossy aliens which infurate the women with their attitude.
The first knowing scene was hilarious and really made me laugh.

Just as a sort of disclaimer, I love this series. I can't really pinpoint what it is that I like so much. But everything just sort of clicks with me. But that doesn't mean it was a perfect book. Some of the characters could be maddening at times, for sure. Overall, though, this was another great book by Marie Dry.

I was a little jarred at first because this book takes place several years after Book 3. I generally don't love big time jumps like that and I didn't love it here. Especially since so much had changed since Book 3. I don't know if this is a spoiler but just in case... spoilers ahead? The Zyrgins had full revealed themselves to humans and had straight up taken the planet over. Period. The Raiders from the first few books are hardly even mentioned (seemingly because they've been totally defeated?) and now it's a human resistance that's causing trouble.

Madison, the heroine, is something of a doctor. I say it that way because medical school in this future is, like, two years or something like that and not many people survive a trip to the hospital. Madison doesn't care about all that and just wants to give her patients her very best. A childhood trauma has caused her to be extremely invested in her work, to her own detriment. I really liked Madison but for a doctor, she was incredibly stupid... very often. She KNOWS the aliens can disappear and she STILL insists on talking shit about them when they could be behind her. And they usually are! I didn't like how even after she had feelings for the hero, she still seemed to hate Zyrgins in general and was super quick to believe the bad stuff about them. Instead of using her logical, doctor's mind, she would always go with her gut or her heart or her feelings and it got old really fast.

I loved Viglar! Yeah, yeah, I always love all the Zyrgin warriors... so what?!? They are written so perfectly!! They're completely immovable - literally and metaphorically. They are always right and humans are pathetic, they have superior Zyrgin technology, they are superior in every way. That might seem like it would get old but it never ceases to make me happy. They are just so damn bullheaded! They are a very literal race of aliens so jokes and sarcasm goes right over their heads and I laugh out loud every damn time! Yeah they're a bit green and have a ridge on their heads but I defy you to not find them sexy as hell!

Madison absolutely enjoys Viglar's very fit body and I loved reading about her exploring him. I didn't love how Viglar constantly called her hair "ugly" because he seemed to enjoy it so much. She told him time and time again to stop saying that and he never stopped. It drove me a little crazy. Even though, I loved the progression of their relationship. Viglar meeting her Alabama family was priceless and hilarious and I thought it was a great glimpse into Madison's childhood, in a way.

I would absolutely recommend this book to romance lovers who want to branch out. I do NOT recommend this as a stand alone book though. You really need to see the world building that has gone into this series. I fear if you stared here, you may not love the Zyrgins as you're supposed to! LOL! Watching such an immovable race of beings try to change for the women they've chosen is really great and it really works if you can start from the top. This book (and the entire series) is about a very bleak apocalyptic future and it can be a bit depressing. But if you can set that aside and really focus on the characters and the relationship between ALL of them, I think anyone would love this series and the aliens these women end up falling for!

Life as a breeder in the Zyrgin Empire is sloooowly getting better…that being said, it’s still pretty rough. I honestly feel bad for pretty much everyone in this universe: the breeders; the ordinary human and alien subjects; and the Zyrgin warriors themselves, who are raised to be brutal in a brutal culture. Honestly, I never thought I would call a romance novel grimdark, but it’s kind of like reading a love story set in the Warhammer 40K universe, with the Zyrgin Empire standing in for the Imperium of Man.

I feel like it’s easier for Dry to distinguish Zyrgin personalities & speech styles when they’re interacting; we didn’t have much Zyrgin-Zyrgin interaction this time and as a result Viglar seemed to recite the standard phrases. (You are my breeder, it is an honor, superior Zyrgin ___). I’m kind of looking forward to Zanr’s book, except I’m not sure how much I can take of pages and pages of human women badgering their “loves” for their rights. :(

I loved how Dry . I also liked Madison’s spunk and drive – Madison was pretty awesome, actually. Madison & Viglar’s relationship seemed to be more “normal” than earlier romances; Viglar actually . The whole part where is freaking great and I really think Dry is at her best when she does humor. Viglar is an interestingly multifaceted character, and I would like to really see him in more detail. I love the increased worldbuilding – all the things we learn explicitly about the Zyrgins, and all the things hinted at in between the lines. Viglar’s agreement to is a wonderful, unexpected detail – but damn, do I feel bad for her.

Madison - ginger head with freckles.
Viglar - medic
Rachel - Madison's friend, intern, has an unhealthy obsession with Joshua /Madison's gay brother/
Madison is a rarely paid, over worked intern that works at the only hospital in the state /county/.
Viglar comes to the hospital and starts renovating the building and introducing new technology. He makes the humans who work there do the building. He is fair but ruthless. He beheads 3 interns that was working at the hospital but they were smuggling drugs from the hospital to their own syndicates.
Alien resistance movement is gaining strength.
Madison's brother Rory was at the Battle of No Name Town. It is not known whether he died or not.
Because of her hate speech about zyrgins after the Battle of No Name Town, Madison is suspected if being a member of the resistance.
Margaret sponsors a shelter for human women that need it and orphanage is built. Viglar visits the shelter and orphanage every month. Each time he brings different doctors.
Madison later becomes his constant companion. Kids love Viglar but are also scared of him simultaneously.
Resistance flames the fire of desperation in people and they attack the facilities that is under Zyrgin protection.
Madison takes cell sample from Viglar and analyses his DNA.
At the end Rachel is revealed to be working with the resistance and comes to Madison to take Viglar's DNA sequence. In the end Rachel is killed by resistance member David.
Viglar meets Madison's family and they hit it off.

Alien Resistance by Marie Dry is book 4 in the Zyrgin Warriors series. It is a futuristic/alien invasion genre with heaps of romance to spice it up.
The characters are interesting and quirky, Madison Johnson is a doctor and her mission is to save as many lives as she can. Viglar, one of the alien invaders, arrives at her hospital, calls her unqualified with no skills to speak of and sets her to painting hallways along with all the other hospital staff. As you can imagine, this did not set well with Madison at all! Viglar soon discovers that Madison is a force to be reckoned with…and so tempting, too!
I recommend this to anybody who enjoys a good futuristic / alien invasion / romance books.

Alien Resistance by Marie Dry is book 4 in the Zyrgin Warriors series. Sci-Fi, Aliens etct is a genre that I don't read a lot and I certainly appreciate the break in my normal reading schedule when I sit down and read one of Marie's tales. I appreciate the effort that has gone into plot and character development and I'm becoming especially familiar with the characters of the Zygrin Warriors series.

Vilgar has featured in the past stories and this one is his. Dr Madison Johnson trying to save as many lives as she can. Viglar isnt having it! He thinks she's useless as well as everyone else and orders them to do menial work. Fireworks happen and hello it's all on with Viglar and Madison. <3

Highly recommend for lovers of this genre.

Well done!!

I am glad Viglar got his own story. Madison is a doctor in the hospital Viglar takes over. At first she is very resentful as are the other doctors. However she comes to realize that the doctors really aren't educated enough. Viglar is taken with Madison and tries to "court" her the Zyrgin way. It is very humorous. The people of Earth haven't realized just how bad the world has actually collapsed.
The author has plenty of room to grow this series. I hope more books are coming. Enjoy reading this book.. I did!

Just finished reading Alien Resistance and loooooved it!!!! (loud high pitched voice on the "loved it") ;)

Each of the books in this series gets better and better. I love how Marie Dry can bring out the humor in the differences between the humans and the aliens and the misunderstandings that come about because of those differences. I laughed alot through this book, AFTER the heroine Madison started to realize her ideas about the aliens weren't exactly right.

I think I need to go back and reread the series again. :)

Review to followAlien Resistance (Zyrgin Warriors Book 4) by Marie Dry
Marie Dry wrote another book to her series and they are about paranormal sci/fi series. In this one Madison Johnson is about to become a doctor. Has studied for years and is keeping a promise she made to her dying sister. However, an alien takes over the hospital and makes it so that she cannot practice medicine. She tries very hard to convince the sexy and yet disturbing alien to let her be a doctor.
Madison struggles with the convincing and worries that she might be falling in love with an alien.
Madison’s brother went missing and she fears that this alien Viglar does not know how to love.
This is just a brief rundown of the story and hope you will get a chance to read it and please enjoy. Please also read books 1-3 so you have the full story.
Marie Dry has a unique way to tie aliens and humans together and maybe get a glimpse of what the future may be like.

Alien Resistance takes place on an earth conquered by green-skinned alien invaders. Let’s stop there and get the serious part of my review out of the way. The blurb says “In a bleak future where government systems are breaking down and poverty and violence reign”. Why are government systems breaking down? Because this seems to have left earth ripe for the picking. One of the things that comes up is that in the future earth of Alien Resistance, doctors are spending fewer years studying to be a doctor than they had in the past. Along with the poverty and violence, I thought this was one of the most disturbing suppositions in the book, as I would assume it is part of an overall trend, fictionally speaking. But the reason it is disturbing is because I see similar things happening in our world now. That is really not a subject for a book review blog, but it is one of the things that made me connect with this book.

But let’s switch to the lighter side of the book. Alien Resistance is a romance, full of humor and quite a few heartwarmers. One of the conquerors, Viglar, faces off against one of the conquered, Madison. Much to Viglar’s frustration and the reader’s enjoyment, Madison refused to acknowledge being conquered. In the meantime, the conquerors, while quick to enforce their absolute dominion, are also not immune to harsher side of life on earth and are working to improve it. Aliens on earth is a scifi trope that always intrigues me and this green, hard-bodied alien domination is a fun interpretation of it.

The Zyrgin are supposed to be intelligent and have invested effort into studying humans. But no matter how much he may have studied humans, Viglar often does not understand what Madison says, often leading to humor. As Madison said, “It’s a saying, and how come an intelligent guy like you thought a human could have kittens?”

This alien ignorance of humanity carries over into perceiving human emotions and customs. Which was just a frustrating for me as a reader as it was for Madison as a character. Then again, maybe those aliens are not that ignorant after all, just extremely stubborn and see no reason to get along with the puny humans – they are the conquerors. They do not have to be nice at all.

Then, all of a sudden, Viglar throws in something that belies this stubbornness by throwing in a Star Wars reference at a completely appropriate time.
Madison hid a smile against his chest. His earnestness was rather endearing. “I will seduce you to the dark side.”

“The force is strong in this one. You will not seduce him to the dark side.”

Madison nearly fell off the couch. She stared at him with her mouth inelegantly open. “How on earth do you know Star Wars?”
Madison is often stunned by Viglar’s intelligence, and in this case, wit. I love these little bits of interactions between Madison and Viglar.

The fact is, the Viglar and his kind are intractable, dominating aliens who do not hesitate to use violence to bring humanity in line. This attitude appears to conflict with their apparent altruistic efforts to help the under-privileged humans by building hospitals and orphanages and who know what else? What is their end-game? I found my lack of understanding of Zyrgin motives a bit distracting from time to time. But I did not need that understanding to appreciate the story of Madison and Viglar.

Alien Resistance is the first book in the Zyrgin Warrior series that I have read, so I can assure you it stands on its own. While reading books 1-3 might give a little additional insight into some of the less important characters, it is not necessary to enjoy book 4. If you like a hardheaded alien hero, a headstrong human heroine combined with heart and humor, I recommend Alien Resistance.

The author provided a copy of her book so that I could bring you this honest review.

Great fun

Have read all the books in this series and have really enjoyed them. They are quirky and a bit different to the usual Alien romances I read.
As the books go on I can't help but agree with the Zyrgin that our planet could really do with improvements. There are a few heads that need to be severed that I can think of !. Any book than can make me burst out laughing in public gets my stars
