Dean Montgomery loves his ranch and his family, but something is missing. When he sets out on a road trip to purchase land to expand his ranch, he finds himself stranded in a snowstorm. When the sexy and gruff Colt James, a tracker and rescue worker, rescues Dean, both of their lives are turned upside down. Attraction sizzles, and hearts race. But then trouble brews, and Dean is needed back home. Can these two make their new relationship work?
The blurb looked interesting : Dean, a successful rancher but with nobody to share his life with, is being rescued during a snow storm by Colt, a rescuer living with his nephew, Colt. All of them spend a few days together sheltered in Colt’s cabin and they all bond at a very deep level but soon enough, Colt needs to track down some missing persons, Coop’s friends and then Dean’s brother.
This is pure cuteness with too good to be true characters, especially Coop who is the "ideal" teen. However, to fully enjoy my romance, I need sparks and, if it’s a contemporary romance, a touch of realism. Here, I got insta-love : only 2 days spent in a cabin and it’s already love and longing for being a family, with lust popping at what I felt the most inopportune moments (while Coop is sleeping right next to Dean and Colt, or after a surgery, or just after being discharged and getting out of the hospital - awkward). What also bothered me was the timeline and the pile of heroic events : dealing with a bear or a wolf, Dean having coffee before remembering to meet with his new-born nephew and taking one day to ask for the name of the baby. And only one page for Dean and Colt breaking up and patching up. There were many other events that felt thrown all along in a timeline that didn’t make sense for me. I quite appreciate when a story is fast-paced but I do also need some development to make it gripping and to relate to and I didn’t find that. This made some editing issues even more visible for me.
In overall, despite the cuteness of Dean, Colt and Coop, and the nice epilogue, this story didn’t work for me.

4.5 Stars What a good story! Rescued is the first book I have read by Dakota Storm and I really enjoyed it. Colt and Dean both come from trouble background but neither let it determine who they were. I enjoyed the dynamics between all of the characters and the honesty and acceptance they shared. I look forward to reading more of this authors books
I really enjoyed Rescued by Dakota Storm. I was entertained from the first word to the last. The characters were engaging and intriguing, and I loved how Colt interacted with his nephew Coop. I also loved how Dean interacted with Colt and Coop while waiting out the storm. It wasn’t an instant love type of feel but more like they had known each other forever kind of feel. The story’s well written and nicely edited, and I couldn’t get enough of these characters.
Dean and his brother, Randy, and Randy’s family have a ranch in Hot Springs. They train horses and raise beef and dairy cattle. Their deadbeat dad ended up leaving them at their grandparents one summer when they were visiting them. So their grandparents ended up raising them. As they grew up, they worked hard to make the ranch the success that it is today. But Dean’s restless and would like to work more hands on with the ranch like when he was growing up instead of the supervisor role that he has today. So he jumps at the chance to go and look at a piece of land that they have had their eye on when the price is reduced. However, on his way back home, his truck ends up breaking down and leaves him stranded 5 miles outside of Laramie in the middle of a blizzard that has already left a foot of snow on the ground. Dean’s choices are to stay and freeze in his truck on a back country road or try to walk back to Laramie in the snow. Dean opts for the walk, but he doesn’t make it.
Colt and Coop are making their way home from town when Colt sees a guy sitting on a tree stump on the side of the road. Colt rescues Dean and gets him back to his rustic cabin in the backwoods of Wyoming where they wait out the storm. Colt’s a handyman, ex-military, and the best tracker in the area. He’s also the guardian to his nephew after his ornery drunk bastard of a brother, Travis, died. Travis didn’t want his son to be raised by his ornery drunk bastard of a father. Colt’s done a wonderful job raising Coop into a bright young thirteen-year-old. Although Coop’s very wise beyond his years, he does tend to run his uncle ragged as only a horny teenager can. And I laughed at some of the situations that Coop gets caught in.
I enjoyed getting to see Colt put his search and rescue and tracking skills to good use a couple of times in this book. The situations that arise and the addition of a teenager in the house makes for a slow burn romance between Colt and Dean, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any hot scenes because there are plenty. Colt and Dean may have both come from messed up parents, but that didn’t stop them from being good people and making family an important part of their lives.

Rescued tells the story of Dean Montgomery who lives with his brother and his wife on their successful ranch in the county of Hot Springs, WY. After getting stranded in the middle of a blizzard, Dean finds himself rescued by the handsome Colt James and his adorable little brother Coop. While he waits out the storm in Colt's cosy and secluded cabin, romance begins to grow as the two men quickly realise their attraction for one another. However it's not long before trouble arises when Colt is suddenly called away on a dangerous mission to rescue two young boys from a snowy mountaintop and their blossoming relationship is suddenly put on hold.
I was in two minds about this book and had really high hopes for it. It was the blurb that made me want to download this in the first place as I really liked the idea behind the story. I am a total sucker for a light hearted tale, set in the back of beyond, with two country boys falling in love and this is pretty much what this was. I found that all of the characters were easy to warm to such as Dean who was very loyal and easy going and of course Coop the little brother who was just a sweetheart. Also was the fact that the story had a feel good HEA which for me is definitely a must in a M/M romance novel.
However there were a few things that just didn't seem to fit for me. The whole thing just seemed to happen at break neck speed e.g. the main character Dean just moving into a strangers house and wanting to be part of their family after only a few days. Moreover the writing style also got to me a little bit. I felt that a lot of things were over explained and the dialogue wasn't really how a person would speak in everyday life. Also was the overuse of the characters names and I found that some were used between 3 and 4 times within the one sentence. Finally as sweet as the characters were, I found that they weren't all that believable at times and in particular Coop who seemed to be the most well behaved 13 year old in the world.
All in all this book was an easy read and I finished in a few hours. However as much as I really wanted to love it, it just didn't meet my expectations and I was left a bit disappointed.
Two words that come to mind with this story is sweet romance. The title of this book is Rescued and I have to tell you that there was a lot of rescuing in this book. You think it’s just Dean that gets rescued but as the story progresses you realize that’s not it at all. Let’s just say a lot of people get lost in this. But the biggest rescue of this book was for Colt and Dean. They rescued each other in a way no first responders ever could. And that is where the sweet and romantic comes in.
There’s a bit of suspense in this book when it comes to saving lives. Not a lot of romantic suspense but that was fine because the author does a good job of making you sweat for other reasons.
Rescued is the type of book you read when you’re not looking for something massively deep but are looking for a good romance that will literally warm your heart. It’s about family, friends, and love. Coop was such an outstanding kid and you can’t help but smile whenever he’s on page. He’s a breath of fresh air and there’s no doubt you’ll love him.
I recommend this book to people who love love. People who crave happily ever afters, and appreciate books that leave you with a smile.
This was... ok? I suppose this is somewhat predictable, and a little bit fast paced/insta love. Sort of. There is a friendship that develops between Dean and Colt is cute and builds over weeks, not days, but the trust that builds happens super fast. The addition of Coop, Colt's nephew, is a nice add to the story, but again, the bond that forms between all of them as a family unit is quick.
There are moments that can tug at your heartstrings, for sure. There are also moments of a thriller/suspense that kept me interested enough to read this in full. In the end I was not totally satisfied, but felt that it was an alright story, if just a little meh.

Wow, this was a fast-paced story, I couldn't put it down. Dean and Colt are such great characters with very big hearts. I just loved how it started with Colt rescuing Dean and the chain of events that followed. Now we can't forget Coop, Colt's nephew is such a lovable character and a scene stealer for sure.
A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:
Rating: 3 stars out of 5
This was an interesting and sweet story. Dean is rescued by Colt when he is stranded during a snowstorm and Colt brings him home to wait it out. Their attraction and the intense situation help them get to know each other quickly.
Most of this story is told from Dean’s point of view which makes it easy to understand his thoughts and doubts he can easily read between the lines when it come to Colt and get past his gruff exterior. Colt’s nephew Coop understands their relationship and quickly knows the new family dynamic he thinks they should have and he is a wonderful and helpful kid. Dean supports Colt when he has to put himself in danger to rescue Colts friends and, after a little pushing, Colt knows he wants to help Dean when his brother is in trouble. I really liked the loving relationship these two build and how much they understand the others quirks.
The cover art by Written Ink Designs is nice and works well for this story.
This blurb caught my attention and I am darn glad it did! I love a good gay cowboy story and this one delivered.
Dean Montgomery is a stand-up kind of guy. So, when his brother, whose wife is ready to give birth any minute, asks Dean to go check out some property they are interested in for expanding their ranch, he says yes. So off to Laramie he goes in his grandfather’s old pickup. The problem was that weather in October there in Wyoming can tricky sometimes. One moment the weatherman says that something might be on the horizon and the next you can be in white conditions with no signs of letting up any time soon. Luckily Colt James, an expert in tracking and rescue, happens upon the man when he has to get out and try to walk for help. Colt is out of the service when he needs to take responsibility for raising his nephew Coop. Coop has a grandfather and father that are nasty mean drunks and have no business raising the thirteen year old. “Rescued” is the story of Dean’s rescue and the impact it has on all their lives.
Who wouldn’t fall for these men? I mean, a handsome cowboy, an ex-Army medic and tracker who gives up everything to care for his nephew, and a sweet, loving and wonderful thirteen year-old boy who loves his uncle with all his heart and wants him to meet his dream man and they all live happily ever after with hopefully, a baby brother someday. Talk about a fairy tale. But it wasn’t corny and you really wanted it all to come true because they all deserve it.
What I loved was that these two men, when they finally figured out they had “desires” for the other, took it slowly and were circumvented of impressionable young eyes. Coop was perfect as the young nephew. I loved that he was still respectful and caring. I don’t often read of teenagers in this light and it was refreshing. The author didn’t have him growing up before his time but kept him fairly sweet and innocent which could easily have been the other way with his past.
The one thing that did drop my rating a tad bit was a few obvious typos that make the story cry for a bit more polishing and editing, but it wasn’t overwhelming.
What I do wish the author would have done was to have made this a two book series. I could easily have seen this book ending at the end of chapter 13 and the epilogue having been totally expanded upon for book two. I don’t think it would be too late and easily rectified. And I would grab it in a heartbeat!!!
As I said, I really am thankful I grabbed this book from this new-to-me author and look forward to reading more of their work. A huge thumbs up and a big time recommendation from me!

I’m going to start by saying I liked Rescued just fine. At just 134 pages (per Amazon), it was short, sweet, and to the point. I enjoy rescue stories, and this fit that bill to a T. Colt rescues Dean from the storm, but when you think about it, Dean rescues Colt as well, just not from the snow. Instead, Dean rescues Colt from loneliness.
Dean and Colt have a good chemistry. As I said, their attraction was damn near instant, with smiles, sideways glances, and little touches being exchanged as soon as Colt and Coop get Dean into the truck. To me, it felt a little too quick, but with the length of the book, I understood it had to be that way. This all being said, just because the attraction was instant, it didn’t mean they jumped into a sexual relationship right away. Basically, they had to concentrate on just staying warm and keeping the fire and generator going. Also, there was Coop to consider because they all slept in the living room to be near the fire to conserve the gas for the stove and hot water. No matter how much they wanted to touch each other, they couldn’t very well be doing that in the presence of a thirteen-year-old boy.
Speaking of that thirteen-year-old boy, my biggest knock on Rescued has to do with Coop’s…maturity. I think that’s the word I’m looking for. He doesn’t have much of a filter or concern for privacy and control.
Dean Montgomery wants a ranch of his own, which will expand the ranch that he and his brother already share. On his way to Wyoming, he gets caught in a snowstorm. Thinking he could leave his broken-down truck and make the trek to find some help wasn’t smart.
Colt James is serious and grumpy. He also happens to be an expert tracker, and he and his nephew, Coop, happen upon Dean in the storm. With the weather getting worse, Dean realizes he has no choice but to stay put at Colt’s home, where he gets to experience Colt in action when two of Coop’s friends go missing in the blizzard. Watching Colt, Coop, and even Dog’s interactions, Dean can’t help but want a family of his own, but meanwhile, there’s a lot of excitement going on back at his ranch. He’s waiting to hear if his sister-in-law has had her baby, and before he can return, home his brother goes missing. Colt is still healing from injuries from the last rescue, but he Coop pack their bags and go home with Dean to help find his brother.
Rescued is a sweet and suspenseful little novella. Dean is a great guy and while Colt can be kind of gruff at times, he’s really a softy, but I think Coop stole the show. He was so fun, lovable and entertaining. And we can’t forget Dog. Will he ever get a real name? This is an easy read, and I have to say, I like Dakota Storm’s heartwarming stories and lovable characters.
Rescued is a sweet MM romance. Dean sets out unknowingly into the middle of a storm and when he gets out of his truck to either find reception for his cell or find a place to hunker down, he ends up passed out. When Colt finds him and takes him back to his cabin, romance blooms.
I found Dean to be a sweetheart, as I found Coop, Colt's teenage nephew, to be, and Colt to be a little gruff. Everything was a sweet, but I found some of the dialogue to be a bit stiff and formal. Dakota didn't use contractions nearly enough, and it took me out of the story a lot. The story itself is sweet, with some heat, and the action parts where Colt tracks and rescues both some teenage friends of Coop's and then later, Randy, Dean's brother, are good for propelling along the pace.
I guess the reason I couldn't rate Rescued higher is because, although sweet and all the characters are interesting and even adorable, the story line itself is too insta love for my tastes and a bit unrealistic. It didn't really stand out too much and could have used a good content editor so that the dialogue was more flowing and realistic. Still, I enjoyed Rescued and will probably check out more from Dakota.

The blurb for this story about Dean, the rancher and Colt the tracker & rescue worker drew me in straightaway. The attraction was there from the start but it was quite a slow burn of a romance which I really like. These two had their fair share of troubles and I like that they didn’t fall in love and it was just all about the sex, which I must admit was hot and very well described. This was a very sweet romance between two very likeable characters and also a good supporting cast; I loved Coop, he was so funny but also so respectful and understanding, that was so nice to see. I’ll not go into too much about the ending as you have to read it, but this was a very lovely tale set in a very beautiful and rugged part of the world, the love felt real between the two MC’s and I was invested enough to care about the ending. A really enjoyable read.
Rescued is the first time for me to read anything by author Dakota Storm. I really am glad I picked this book up. I loved it. Lots of love, a little on the fast-paced side but over all a great powerful love story. There were a few typos in my copy but they did not detract from the great story I was reading. Dean successful ranch owner who really wants to settle down and find a guy to call his own. Colt the kind-hearted man who takes in his nephew to prevent him from be abused. He also rescues Dean in so many ways. Lucky for him Dean is willing to rescue him right back. You do have to suspend belief in this book, kind of an insta love sort of read, but I personally love insta love and falling in love so this is my kind of read. I think if you are romance reader that loves to fall in love like I do you will love this book. Over all a great read and I will be looking for more from this author in the future.

I LOVED this book! Colt and Dean were so wonderful together. There was no BS between them. They communicated and didn't let any cliched angst happen between them. This was a romantic, beautiful story about a man who wanted a family to share his love with and the man who gave his his dream. The snowy outdoors was a terrific backdrop to this story and was as much a character as the two MC's were. Coop was adorable and I just loved him and his open, loving heart. I can't recommend this book enough. It's a sweet, sexy, touching love story. I hope there are more books about Colt and Dean. I could read about their lives together with their new family over and over again.
I liked the story enough to finish it. but I found it a bit disappointing. the hero`s are sweet and fun,the kid is a model teen.(come on) the storyline is nice and has potentional. but the pacing wash too rushed and fast paced. there was an overuse on the names.
the cover was good, the overall story nice. Dakota Storm has talent, but this one was not her best.

This is a light hearted read, with enough about the plot to keep me reading until the end albeit a little predictable. the characters were likeable and easy to warm too. The plot and relationship did seem to move very fast there were in love within a few pages. Coop was like a angel child/teenager which wasn't all that believable really. What drove me nuts was the over use of the characters names every sentence was started with Dean or Colt it really grated on my last nerve at the end.
The blurb was good. The story line was ok, the delivery, meh.....Very predictable. The relationship between the two main characters built incredibly fast. There were parts of the story that were a little eye roll worthy. The nephew was a funny little sidekick to the story. When did grown men start taking so many baths? I would have loved to see the author use more than five contractions.
*** I received an ARC of this book for the purpose of my honest opinion. All opinions are my own and I have received no compensation. ***
I thought this was a cute book, but this relationship seemed too rushed. A visitor turned into a roommate basically overnight. Then major injury that should have Colt out of commission for awhile and they are behaving like randy teens. A little unbelievable but a good storyline. Loved Coop.
Almost too sweet, there is very little angst and the little bit there was felt ridiculous and unnecessary. Liked the characters, even though Coop was a little too good to be true for a 13 year old boy but he was adorable.

Another great book by Dakota Storm. It drew me in from the very first page and I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved Dean and Colt (Coop too) and I didn't want their story to end. Loved it!!
