Quiet bookworm Bethany Hall is just a normal teenager, living in the sleepy town of Stonebridge with her sports obsessed twin brother Ryan and their unassuming parents, Jonas and Saria. Twins Beth and Ryan were ordinary teenagers, the only extraordinary thing about their family being the fact that they had no idea where their mother worked. Only, one day a new and very handsome boy, Lukas Castle, appears in their school and provokes a chain of events which will lead not only to revealing the family’s most guarded secrets but which will decide its fate. Two family clans turned sworn enemies, two teenagers who should have done anything to destroy each other, yet fell in love against all odds - this breathtaking, riveting story grips you from page one and refuses to let go. The eternal fight between good and evil is shown through the eyes of two people who refuse to succumb to the darkness, no matter how seductive its powers can be. I absolutely loved it and didn’t want to put it down. Five stars.

Any time an author takes a set of twins, adds a family secret and tops it off with magic, I know I am in the right place. A poetic prophecy was icing on the cake for this young adult tale!

The twins are both well-developed characters to headline this coming of age tale and the love story was well-handled. Everything flowed well making this a must read for teens and adults as well 5/5 stars

What a wonderful young adult read! I'm a fan of fantasy - incorporate a little romance, action and adventure, a good story, and vibrant characters and I'm hooked. This novel doesn't disappoint and takes witches and old feuds to a whole new level.

Beth was a wonderful female lead and character who grew throughout the book, finding her strength and resolve, willing to put others first. She's got a rich family history and some buried secrets that affect her life and her twin brother Ryan in life altering ways. He's a great support and protector, as all brothers should be, and I quite enjoyed the banter and friendly camaraderie between the two.

I don't mind a little insta-love between characters, especially if it furthers the plot which it does in this novel. Lucas is the ultimate bad boy, handsome and mysterious, and I loved his character and progression in the story. Beth and Lucas will steal your heart and I was rooting for them from start to finish.

Appropriate for teens and adults, this is one fun read. I devoured it quickly and can't wait for more from these characters. No plot holes and was well-written. Loved the characters and the age old battle between light and dark. Highly recommended for those who enjoy young adult stories, paranormal romance, suspense and magic, witches, etc.

Wonderful tale of love, family feuds and witchy goings on. What's not to like about true love and dysfunctional families? Witches can mess us too.

Witchy with a Twist

An ancient rival seeks revenge. A family mystery is revealed. Will the decisions of the past keep the future from unfolding? In The Fated, Beth and Ryan are coming of age, not only in years, but also to the secrets the family has withheld their entire lives. This story takes several unexpected turns and brings the past to life very cleverly. The ending of the book leaves you wondering what will come next and if happiness will eventually win the centuries-old feud.

The Fated is a story about how the past affects lives - it cannot be ignored, as Beth finds out when her life suddenly changes.

It reads as a story for a YA audience, and is done well. The characters fit perfectly into the tale; its plot building gradually revealing the mystery.

I liked the 'past' parts best, although, the whole story was nicely done.

Overall, well-written and suits the genre.

This was a wonderful young adult read, it was fast-paced and thrilling. I thought it would go the Twilight way with a handsome mysterious creature (Lukas Castle) who was hostile towards the heroine (Bethany) in a school environment, and it certainly had elements of that, but it went in so many delectable different directions as well. I would definitely recommend this to Twilight fans and young adult book fans. This is a very good start to a wonderful series.
