The Sherbrookes of Newport #9

Falling For The Billionaire

Rate this book
A nurse in Providence, Paige Foster never once considered purchasing a ticket to the Helping Hands Bachelor Auction. But when Aunt Bebe invites her along, she accepts, expecting nothing more than an enjoyable evening with her favorite aunt. Aunt Bebe has other plans though. By the end of the evening Paige finds herself the proud owner of four romantic dates with Scott Belmont, President Warren Sherbrooke’s nephew.

Lately billionaire Scott Belmont doesn’t have time for a social life, never mind a bachelor auction. Regardless, when his mom asks him to take part in the fundraising event, he agrees. Scott assumes he’ll take the winner on a few dates and then dismiss her from his mind. Then Paige Foster walks on stage to claim him.

Scott is not at all what she expects. Before she realizes it he’s made his way into her heart. But Paige has a secret, one she fears might send Scott walking.

From the beginning Paige intrigues him and soon Scott finds himself in love. But when an ex-girlfriend reenters his life asking for help, their new relationship is put to the test.

Scott was one smooth low key man. I loved how he steered away from the light in a nice way. He kept it classy as well as simple. Him and Paige were just adorable from beginning to end and I liked the fact that she stood up to him and never backed down. She never let his wealth be an intimidation or a factor, she was willing to foot her bill with no problem. They were a team from the start and aunt Bebe meddling worked in everyone's favor. I want 4 more chapters of them though because they were just that lovable as a couple.

Not impressed

I wasn't at all impressed with this story, with the female lead and the male lead was just blah... don't think I'll be reading this writer any time soon, again

Nothing like a mom setting up his son to be sold off to the highest bidder????

Nothing like an aunt forcing you to attend an auction of 12 good looking bachelors???

I throughly enjoyed the journey of Paige and Scott.

I received a complimentary ARC - early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.

So I have only read this author once before and it was many years ago. I saw this book to review and was intrigued. But it was an okay read.

My first issue with the book is I felt the two had no real passion. I like hot scenes and this story did not have that. Scott was a great character and Paige was as well. But they never got angry or fought or kissed crazily. They were both extremely sedate. They had some fun dates, many at home and I just did not feel their connection at all.

Then the other woman comes onto the scene and I beyond hate this type of storyline. I don't want to give it away but the synopsis of the story makes you think its a favor for a friend. But its not. Lets just say thats its a complication from a past relationship and it went where I hate it when books do this.

I did read the whole story and Scott and Paige are sweet together and it ends in a great way. BUt I just hated the plot twist in this story and I wanted more emotions from Paige and Scott.

2 Stars...

This story has poor grammar for a well-known author. She should fire a proofreader, if she used one. If she didn’t have it read, she needs to hire someone with basic English skills.

Her and Uncle Warren’s property in Texas bordered Foster’s ranch.

Her as a SUBJECT pronoun from an established author??? What was the author thinking and where were the proofreaders and editor???

Scoot stared at the closed... it’s Scott.

The story drags along, and then suddenly it’s racing to a conclusion.

A cute story but it got draggy maybe 3/4 of the way in?
Just ... slow.

I liked the conflict and the O_O + cringe but ALSO how things worked out ...
The drama and problems - how Paige had hang ups [because her evil ex which ... ugh but also ugh]

and Scott is nice - I liked how into her he was but I also didn't feel like ... I dunno MUCH chemistry?

I liked aunt Bebe - but this one was more slow and plodding; I was read/skimming for parts.

So ... yeah it was just ok

This is Paige and Scott's story.
The auction turns out to be more than just a date.
Paige and Scott find that tney enjoy each other more than a onetime date. As they begin to fall in love a blast from Scotts past throws a life altering wrench into things. Paige stands by her man. But a little fear that she can't have children may end up derailing her path to a HEA with Scott.

Annoying

This story has the basis to be a great story. But it falls short. The problem is the style of writing. There are half finished chapters. Time lapses that are confusing and unnecessary. There are events talked about but we don’t get to experience. They forgive too easy. All issues that make it difficult to connect to the characters. Which is a shame.

I love the Sherbrookes!

I have fallen in love this series! Falling For The Billionaire is book 9 in the series and I admit I have been reading them out of order based on budget constraints and deals I get. So I can confirm that each novel can be read as a stand alone. Though for a better understanding of the support characters it would help to read the series in order. The Sherbrookes are a large interconnected family related to the President of the U. S, Warren Sherbrooke. It's like reading about American royalty, like the Kennedy family with less dirt. Falling For The Billionaire starts with a nurse Page, "winning" Scott a nephew of the Sherbrookes in an auction. The premise is funny and sweet at the same time. There is some twists to the plot ,as every relationship has a few bumps to get through before finding true love. But it has the happily ever after, I want and expect in my romances.
I had to laugh at one review that I read that thought the sex in this book bordered on porn! Compared to some of my fave romance authors, Christine Tetreault's sex scenes remind me of those old black and white romance movies, where one minute they are in the bedroom sharing a steamy kiss and the next minute the camera cuts to the window with the sheer curtains blowing in a gentle breeze. No Christine does not write steamy explicit sex in her novels. Her style is more sweet and sexy with just a hint of how erotic, passionate the sex can be. The chemistry and sexual tension between her characters is hard to mistake though.
I admit the storyline, billionaire with no intention of settling down, is flummoxed when he finds the woman of his dreams in an unexpected place, can seem a bit overdone at times. Yet, Christine Tetreault has a way of adding her own sparkle to the plot that makes her novel seem new and fresh every time. It may not be intellectually stimulating as say War and Peace but admit it, we read romance to escape the harsh realities of life. Romance readers, like myself, are looking for a book that is a pleasant interlude in a busy hectic existence. If I want to debate women's rights and the right and wrongs of relationships , I have plenty of non-fiction writers, memoirs and biographies I can read.
So if you want to chill out , with a cup of tea, a blanket on your couch, in front of the fireplace, with your dogs at your feet, while its minus 14 degrees and snowing outside, Falling For The Billionaire, is the book for you!

I'm deducting a star off this one only for a couple of reasons, because mostly I enjoyed this.

It's a fairly straightforward story really: rich old aunt drags unwilling grand-niece to an auction, secures dates with a billionaire, the two hit it off and want more, and then comes a complication from the past which they eventually work through and it all ends with a happily ever after. Considering this is part of a bigger series of books and I only read this one, I didn't actually feel like I NEEDED to read the ones previous to this, because somehow the information gleaned about the Sherbrookes was enough to make me feel comfortable in the reading environment.

Now on to the things I deducted the star off from.

Occasionally there were some editing problems. There were grammatical errors and some missing words, and several sentences made no sense in transition to the next because of that.

I'd have loved to see Aunt Bebe more. She's there at the start but then just poofs out of existence and there's no real acknowledgement or an I TOLD YOU SO from her even though she's the catalyst for this entire scheme.

It would've been nice to meet the elusive dad Paige only mentioned but he never shows up on the page.

And I have a bone to pick with Paige herself. Generally speaking, I liked her, and while she naturally responded negatively to certain things and stood her ground about some, she had a solid head on her shoulders and she didn't run anywhere. BUT. For goodness sake, woman! Just because a man opens the car door for you or pulls out your chair doesn't mean you're weak or that you're letting down the feminists who fought for women's rights. Come on now. This is why men are terrified of being gentlemen nowadays, because women crucify them for being NICE and having MANNERS. I'm also glad Scott held his ground when she was hemming about the money issue, because, well, if he wants to spoil her she's taking all the fun out of it when she's screeching about splitting bills. We obviously get she doesn't need it - but occasionally being splurged on hasn't ever been a sin. But yeah, her whole 'omg he's opening my door and I'm such an independent woman how will I ever survive now because he's like that?' mentality turned me right off her REAL fast.

A solid read, with some flaws, but good for a rainy afternoon.

It was so much fun reading Scott and Paige story. Scott Belmont reluctantly agreed to participate in an auction run by his mom Marilyn not realizing the impact it will have on his life. Paige Foster accompanies her Great Aunt Bebe to a bachelor Charity Auction, who ends up bidding on Scot for her. Paige must now navigate four unwanted dates with one of the most sought-after wealthiest family's nephew and cousin of the Sherbrooke family. Scott also finds out his mom somehow convinced his cousin Derek Sherbrooke to participate in the auction. This is another fun, sweet, cute story of the Sherbrooke family with our favorite characters popping in giving us updates on their lives. I loved reading about Paige and Scott, and all the other Sherbrooke's progress. What I love most about these books is the unity with the family, no matter what struggles, issues each member faces everyone is there to lend a helping hand and support each other, especially through hard times. I love the banter between all the Sherbrooke's and especially Scott and Derek, and Scott and Paige. One of my favorite parts are all the babies popping up, they are just so adorable. Derek is such a sweetheart, so carrying, compassionate, respectful, and loving; he is not afraid to confront issues thrown his way and not only works hard in the Sherbrooke enterprise but at relationships too. This is another amazing book in the series, loved it!

I found this a little disjointed, the chapters would often finish rather abruptly. There were some weird filler moments, like she moved her arm when the waiter brought water to the table, ummm we really don't need that useless bit of information.
The first time they have sex is only mentioned in hindsight, so I thought oh it's a clean romance, which I don't mind, but then later there is a bit more detail when they have sex, to me the first time is a pivotal moment in their relationship so should get more attention than anything subsequent.
Also I was surprised not more was made of the media attention the relationship would receive, it seemed like it was building towards that, particularly since Paige is portrayed as someone not liking attention, there are a few incidences that point in that direction, then nothing.
I felt sorry for her dog, yes I do know it's fictional, but still, she's a nurse who works 12 hour shifts, her dog appears to be left inside her house when she's not home, so that's probably 13 or 14 hours without a potty break. No mention of what happens to the dog when she goes anywhere else overnight either.
One other thing that irritated me was the use of "smartphone" all the time, it just seemed unnecessary, is there really any other kind these days? Just call it a phone.

This is the first time I an reading a ARC book by Christina Tetreault. It features Paige Foster and Scott Belmont.
Helping Hands Foundation is having a fundraiser and it's an auction of twelve eligible bachelors. Paige and her great Aunt Bebe are there to spend some time together, but to Paige surprise Aunt Bebe forced Paige hand up for the final bid on the gorgeous Scott Belmont, a cousin of the famous Sherbrooke family and won the bid of four dates.
Scott is a cousin of the Sherbrooke family and since his mother helped with the fundraiser asked him and two of his cousins to be auction off, even though he didn't want too. Scott was auction off to a beautiful woman he didn't know, a shy and quiet woman. After the first date both Scott and Paige relaxed into a comfortable night of talking, eating and getting to know each other. Both agree they had a great time and over the next few weeks with Scott traveling for work, both talked on the phone and started to become very close. Until one day Scott past came back to haunt him. Will Scott's past ruin the love that is forming between Scott and Paige or will it bring them closer.
I am volunteering to leave a review for a ARC of this book.

3.5 Stars. Paige and Scott were thrown together as a part of a charity bachelor auction neither wanted to be part of. They were supposed to go on four dates as a result of the auction.

The two were very similar in personality - very low key, calm and respectful of others even when they didn’t deserve it. They didn’t strike me as having the kind of chemistry that burns up the pages. It was implied, but I personally didn’t feel the strength of it.

The story was very well written and had a few unexpected twists. As a stand-alone it was fine except for the references to the many cousins, spouses, and wide array of family members that I didn’t try to keep straight. I have read a few other books in the series, but I still would not have been able to remember all those relationships after awhile. I think the importance of family was conveyed very well and it might have been all right to leave out a few of the family references as not being that relevant to Paige and Scott’s story.

If you like a sweet, clean billionaire romance with a few surprises, you’ll like this book.

Falling for the Billionaire

This was another continuation of this romantic series of the Sherbrookes of Newport with Scott following through on his auction date with Paige Foster. This book picks up with Scott getting to know Paige then planning a date that she would enjoy. When he was won by Paige he never expected her to become the love of his life but she does. One by one the Sherbrookes are finding love. This story gets a little complicated when an ex girlfriend throws a potential wrench into Scott and Paige's love story but they survive and get their happily ever after with even more unexpected surprises in store for them. After Paige's first divorce she did not think Scott would want her if she was not able to have children but soon found out that fact was not true. Her first husband was just a jerk and Scott proved to her what happens when someone truly loves you. She proves to Scott that she would love and support him when the unexpected happened. This was a very touching love story and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Scott's Auction Find in Paige! 3.25***** Spoiler Alert!

Accompanying Aunt Bebe to a fundraising Bachelor's Auction, Paige RN, is coerced into bidding on Scott Sherbrooke, a billionaire offspring, but unlike the DuPonts lineage in our modern society, seemed nice without elitist attitudes. Yes they fall in love with each other, embraced his son, Cooper, from a dalliance with wild actress Nicole, and her possible infertility issue while engaged, only to discover she is pregnant. HEA??

Unimpressive plot, with too goodie two shoes main characters of Scott and Paige to be realistic. Although on the fringe of the elite inner circle group of billionaires, Paige still is too grounded and is treated to her rich Aunt Bebe's whims to be so accepting of Scott's recently born son, and seemed ready to assist in his upbringing. I think she can easily get Scott to fight for total custody if Nicole's sobriety becomes an issue. A fair read, but not attention grabbing, too much of a 'nice guy finish first' theme.

Falling For The Billionaire by Christina Tetreault is book 9 in The Sherbrookes of Newport Series. This is the story of Scott Belmont and Paige Foster. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book. Paige is a busy Nurse who is trying to spend time with her Great Aunt Bebe. Aunt Bebe talks her into going to the Helping Hands Bachelor Auction. If that isn't enough, her Aunt makes her place a bid on one of the bachelors. Scott's mother helped outwith the Helping Hands Bachelor Auction so of course she wanted him to take part in this auction. Scott is a busy man but he gave in to help his mom which lead him to meet the beautiful Paige. Both are busy so their dates are slow to come around but they do talk which leads to them getting to know each other so much better. But somehow the past comes forward to the front possibly causing them issues. Enjoyed their story.

This is my first time reading something by Christina Tetreault. This book is part of a series, but despite not having read the prior books, I had no trouble following the story. This story is delightful and Scott and Paige are an endearing couple and their chemistry is really strong. I liked the fact that they became friends first before advancing their relationship any further. It gave them a good chance to get to know each other. I thought the meddling of Paige's Aunt Bebe at the auction was really cute. She brought a lot of fun into the story. The journey to a happy ending was a bit bumpy, with misunderstandings and some surprises along the way, but it was well worth the trip! I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.

I enjoyed this more than number 8. I must admit I changed the ending in my head. Again, the book goes along swimmingly and wham it's done. Love the premise of love at a bachelor auction that both participants get dragged too.
Would have liked to see the Foster and Sherbrooke family get close like, wow your granddaughter and my grandson are dating cool huh!!! Instead we are off wondering if Paige's parents will ever be welcomed back into the fold.
Also nice that Paige has a real, job that she just can't run out on when Scott says he has business in London tomorrow want to come? Also would have liked a little mini reunion of all the couples at Brooklyn and Derek 's wedding.
Enjoyable one day read. Two if you got stuff to do.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.

Paige couldn’t believe she was at the bachelor auction for charity. Aunt BeBe had bid on someone using Paige’s paddle she wins a date with Scott Belmont. They went on their first date to a restaurant she wanted to go to for awhile. She couldn’t wait to see the Firecracker show in Providence. Scott was trying to learn more about Paige that evening they spent together. Things were progressing great between him and Paige he realized he loved her and she loved him. Scott’s Ex has been calling him to get together She wanted to tell him something. His ex girlfriend shows up at his apartment right when Paige and Scott were having dinner. She then dropped a bombshell and Paige was taken back at the news

I quite enjoyed this with a meddling great aunt bidding for her niece at a charity bachelor auction. While Paige & Scott initally reluctant to become involved it developed into more & a very endearing relationship. That is until his ex comes onto the scene. Even though there was a few problems from the start I liked how Paige was mature enough to accept the situation.
A wonderful couple & a nice heartwarming story.

I like this series so much! The family dynamics are actually closer to normal than one finds in most books nowadays. It seems like authors are feeling compelled to throw in so many stumbling blocks and secrets or communication fails that it is just so refreshing to read a book where the relationship develops along realistic lines. The characters of Paige and Scott were very believable. This is a feel-good book all the way through!

Charming and sexy!

Thanks to her aunt, Paige finds herself the highest bidder for 4 dates with the hot and sexy Scott. Their story is well written. I fell in love with them immediately. Scott is not only hot and sexy but cha4ming too.

I especially enjoyed the way characters from previous stories are woven into this story in a way that even if you haven’t read other stories in the Sherbrooke of Newport you get how important family is.

I look forward to reading about the next Sherbrooke to fall in love.

This book was so good. This is about Paige Foster, a nurse, who agrees to go to the Helping Hands Bachelor Auction with her Aunt Bebe and Aunt Bebe pulls a fast one and buys a ticket for Paige and holds up Paiges hand and wins a 4 date with the billionaire Scott Belmont. This was really funny in spots and very serious in spots. Loved Aunt Bebe..she was a hoot. There is passion between the two but both are very wary. Highly recommend.

It’s a story that begins with an Auction at which, her Great Aunt bids on a Billionaire for her Great niece. She is sure he’s just a snob! A man with too much money & lets everyone know who he is! Of course, she’s wrong! He can’t believe that she’s a nurse working in a place that would be hard for him. He’s thoughtful & will fly back from England to be with her! A true romantic love story. I would recommend reading it!
