Usually, I'm kind of skeptical towards these kinds of books and picked this one up because I've been following Shona on social media for almost two years now and I was curious.

And I'm so glad that I did, because I loved it and it was totally worth it! Loved the recipes and the workouts - both the resistance and the yoga/mobility ones, and the overall approach to generally everything related to wellness. And especially appreciated the sciency parts, presented in an easy to digest and fun way.

But the one thing that I loved the most was that it's not a typical weight loss book full of exhausting diets for reaching the perfect body type while torturing yourself in all sorts of ways. Instead, it suggests listening to your body when it comes to food and makes you reconsider your outlook on why you want to workout and to eat right and so much more! And it does that in an unobtrusive way, accompanied by the typical badassy Shona vibe. :)

I'm on week 3 and I'm loving it! And will continue with the approach described in the book even after the 28th day, as it really resonates with me and with what I want.

This is a fitness book indeed. I have little experience in reading those, but this one is really packed and prepared well. Shona explains why is it important to both stretch AND (not OR) do the strength and mobility practice. I love the approach! Shona gives few workout plans in the book as well as the recipes one can implement: both Vegan and non-vegan versions :)

I cannot quibble with a book which includes the line 'don't be an obsessive weirdo' about fitness/selfies. This is full of obvious and sensible advice, it seems to me that unlike many fitness experts, she has done quite a bit of study and research, and the exercises look hard but fun.

Am going to give the 28-day reset a go, although I'll be doing it over 2 months rather than 1 as I'm alternating the workouts with running. It will be interesting to see results...

Probably my favourite health-related book. Clear and concise, with images and text to explain the exercises, and with lots of knowledge to back them up. I especially appreciate the input to include meditation and yoga, and what exercises to choose when, and what to avoid.

I like Vertue’s overall approach towards wellness. She is not overly prescriptive, but encourages people to try to balance their strength workouts with yoga and mobility training. I resonate with her view that exercise is not a way to punish ourselves or reach an ideal body type, but is a way to demonstrate self-love and self-respect, as well as helps us get in touch with our strength and power. She also teaches and models the health benefits of a daily mindfulness practice. Usually fitness people are kind of pigeon-holed into one type of exercise, so it is rare to find someone espousing such a holistic view, and it is exactly what I am aiming for. She is also funny and doesn’t seem to be taking herself so seriously.

Her focus is not on trendy diets or even weight loss, but on nourishing our bodies with whole foods. She writes about food as medicine, educating about eating a balance of macro and micro nutrients, without suggesting certain food groups are bad or off-limits. Vertue instead suggests that we listen to our own unique body’s reaction to foods, utilizing both our knowledge and intuition.

I don’t think I will do the 28-day plan at this point but will reference her book for healthful meals and workouts!

Easy, approachable read. One of the few workout/meal plan/habit changing books that I read cover to cover, actually! The workout descriptions were very helpful, some of the recipes were cool too but there were too many recipes of stuff I can't have to die dietary intolerances, allergies and simply not liking the ingredients. All in all, worth the money!

I‘ve read it all (except the exercises) and it has motivated me to change up my breakfast diet and slowly start incorporating the exercises in my life.

I think this reset plan is a little too much if you’re working and don’t have control over big portions of your day but I think you can gradually incorporate all the positive aspects into your life.

Good idealistic plan

I like it but it is a bit idealistic for me. That said it encourages me to train more and rethink my diet. Some of the recipes will be really helpful

I love the way she approaches working out and eating and the most important thing is that it makes sense what she is saying. Of course it is too soon to tell whether I would be able to accommodate a program like this into my daily life but it seems like this approach was what I needed. I love weights and I love yoga, I do not want to be strong without being flexible. Very excited to see how it will work out in practice.
